I Just got a paper white sage 32gb( i ordered it with ads it came without the ads) for $37.00 two months ago.I have a voyage so they gave me $50.00 off plus I had some gift card credits. I also have an oasis So I now have 3 kindles 😅
I have ordered the signature edition. I figured reading is my favourite thing to do, why not treat myself to the best Paperwhite experience possible.
Exactly how I approach it. Invest in the things you love to do!

Received my Paperwhite (old version) about a month ago with adds. I contacted Amazon on the chat and asked if there was anyway they could be turned off. I wrote it was a Paperwhite for my daughter. Two minutes later the adds were removed as "an exception". Worth trying before paying 20 bucks.
I’ve actually found a lot of books I’ve loved from the ad screen. I actually prefer it at this point. The algorithm understands what I like.
I can't wait until you have the new one and compare it with the others - your comparisons are the best.

I pre-ordered the signature addition for myself as a bday present. Over this last couple years I've logged so many hours on my current paperwhite that I figured I might as well splurge a little and upgrade . To me the warm light plus the auto brightness seems like a worthwhile upgrade. I'm not sure I'll even use the wireless charging. But not a bad option to have
I would do the same! If you're someone who reads a lot, it's totally worth investing a little extra for the nice model. That's why I bought the Oasis last year! Enjoy the new PW. It seems like it's going to be the new best Kindle until they release something else!
i pre-ordered the signature edition but later canceled and downgraded to the standard paperwhite - I only use it to read so I couldn't justify the 32gb and with a battery that lasts as long as id does the wireless charging just seems excessive. I think I can absolutely live without adaptive lighting for 70$ less. I never considered the Oasis; I like to pocket the paperwhite and I can palm it in one hand.
Super smart move! The adaptive lighting feature is way overrated as is the 32GB if you’re only doing ebooks. 8GB can legit hold over 5k ebooks and that’s a conservative estimate. Probably more like 6k or 7k books.
139 to 189 is only 50, and 2p of that is moot if you remove ads anyway

@@levirabelo5713 adaptive lighting refers to the device automatically adjusting the light temperature, not whether or not the device has warm light temperature functionality. Automatic adjusting is overrated because how hard it is to adjust the lighting ourselves?!? Lol how lazy can we get? Plus the adaptive lighting I found annoying because it would change when I didn’t want it to.

Ordered it right now. Looking forward for the warm light setting. My eyes will thank me. I read currently on the paperwhite 2018. Great device but anyway i am so looking forward for the new one. I don't really see a point for getting the signature edition. Wireless charging seems kind of pointless with how long the battery life is and manually adjusting the light is better for getting the lighting just right. 8 gb is honestly more than enough for an audio book or two but listening to audiobooks is way more convenient on a phone.

Exactly, I listen to audiobooks on my laptop or smartphone sometimes while commuting/driving.
Moreover, the new paperwhite does not support audiobook.
@@jamoora That's not true. All Kindles support Bluetooth and audiobooks.
Very excited about the warm light - that’s enough for me to get the updated model. I’ll be curious about the slimmer bezels and how often I’ll accidentally turn the page when just trying to hold it. I didn’t go for the signature because I don’t need the storage (I don’t use audible or read many graphic novels) or the wireless charging. Thanks for your thoughts!

In Brazil we do not have the ad version of kindle. All models come without ad. Unfortunately this is one of the few advantages we have because many functions are not available here like audible and goodreads.
And because kindle is more expensive in Brazil too, so I think we deserve no ads hahaha crying right now
Great that there's finally USB-C. I'm holding off for a new Oasis. Currently I own the 10th gen Kindle Paperwhite and previously the 5th gen basic Kindle (with the physical page turners). For sure USB-C will be on the new Oasis and hoping they are keeping that physical page turner. I just dread seeing the new Paperwhite increases in screen size, the Oasis would seem to have an increase in screen size as well. I don't want to see the screen to be too big.
The Kobo Forma has an 8" display and I like that a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if the Oasis jumped up by an inch. Anything bigger than that though would be too big IMO. I also don't know if we'll be seeing a new Oasis anytime soon. If they were going to do it, now would have been the time. I can imagine it happening until next year at this point.
Not yet wanting to upgrade. I like my pink kindle paperwhite. With the new features, there is a small margin in difference between the new 2021 paperwhite vs the current oasis. I am patiently waiting to see how they gonna upgrade the oasis line, I think the next oasis generation will give me more reasons to upgrade.
I agree that the Oasis and new PW are VERY similar. Too similar. The new Oasis (whenever that comes out) is sure to be a nice upgrade.
I'm seeing a lot of complaints about the glass pane that covers the Paperwhite's e-ink display. I'm loving the paper like feel of my Kobo Clara, will I be disappointed by the Paperwhite display? Does it have more glare or is it harder to focus on the text compared to the Kobo? I'm considering switching primarily for USB-C.
The new Kobo Libra 2 has a sharper screen than the Paperwhite. But I’m very happy with my Paperwhite. It’s not as crispy, but still looks great.
I have ordered the signature edition to replace my nearly four year Oasis. I delivery date is early December. I hope it’s up to snuff.
When do you think a new Oasis will be released?
I ordered que base Paperwhite. Wireless charging on a device with a battery autonomy as good as this one is almost completely pointless. As I only read text-based books, 8Gb in way more than enough, and auto brightness adjustment is an undesired feature. I almost always end up adjusting the brightness manually.
I am a basic Kindle 2019 user and I'm very excited for the warm light and the slightly larger display.
No boss I’m sticking to my baby blue paperwhite. I got it as a deal 32 GB and I’m still getting better with it … learning to read a little more the new price of 89.00 is great to practice and see if you'll add the device to your daily routines …I’ll upgrade if I find the 32GB signature second hand.
First of all, I very much appreciate your in depth reviews. I ordered the signature because I do have audio books also. I'm worried that it might not fit in the pocket of my purse if it's any bigger than the previous paper white, which just fits. Also, do you think they will come out with a new Oasis this year? What features do you think it might have?

I think the lighting is bit overboard with the brightness feature. e-ink devices such as e-readers are meant to be highly legible under direct sunlight just like real paper. You will only need a bit of lighting to read in dark areas and not a superbright one. Can someone explain to me why would higher brightness be a positive in an e-reader? Or am I reading it wrongly? Only thing I can figure out for having more LEDs is a more uniform lighting across the device i.e. to ensure every bit of screen is lighted up evenly.
can you change font on a kindle? sometimes specific ones give me a headache

i got a student discount of $45 from the 2018 Paperwhite as well as $20 for trading in my 2018 kindle and 20% additional off from the trade in. All in I paid under $8 for a 2018 Paperwhite. stellar bargain

Amazon must understand that kindles are not smartphones.. the most they reduce the bezel, the most we don't have space to rest our thumbs and it's getting really uncomfortable... That's the reason why I recently ordered a Kindle oasis instead of the paperwhite signature, even though they have the same settings and I believe the oasis is about to die.
Oasis won't die.
It is going to get an upgrade with bigger display & more interactive features.
Nice, specely the screen at 6,8" warm light, battery, but Auto brightness newer work on cells as you prefer, so will probely will not work as you wish here as well...Anyway i will go for one of the new Kobo Libra 2 or Sage i think..

I am so sad they took out the reading % and time in chapter from reading mode :( Do you know a way to put it back on? With the new update I can only see how much I have read if I click on the top. It's so stupid!
the wireless charging dock seems super nice to have. i've always wanted a book stand for my kindle, just to have someplace to display it - but to have it be a wireless charger too? bonus. the paperwhite giving the oasis a run for its money makes me wonder what comes next.

I'm getting a new paperwhite. The one I have now is 10 years old and doesn't hold a charge anymore. So why not
I ordered my PW with the leather cover. I think you are right about holding thenew PW with thinner bezels. It might be awkward/hard. What about when the cover is on and folded back? Would that be even harder? I don’t know as this will be my first Kindle.

The only thing that will make me update to these new kindle is if they give discounts and sell them for like $89 😂….because that the price I got my 2018 kindle Paperwhite 3 for.

I have watching a lot of review videos and non of them saw that the signature edition will have, according to Amazon, bottoms to turn the pages. I do not know anything or saw something that says that. Hopefully you could make a short talking about that.

The 32 gig Paperwhite 4 is on sale for $109 both on Amazon and at BestBuy- maybe elsewhere as well. Might be worth it if anyone likes the audiobook feature and doesn't want the new model!
Excellent video my friend! Definitely some solid updates to these new Paperwhites. But as intrigued as I am about them, there’s not enough there for me to purchase either of them so I went ahead and preordered the brand new Kobo Libra 2 instead. Better upgrades in my opinion and I love the Kobo reading experience better.

Not sure which Paperwhite I have. I bought it in April 2015. Based on that time and the look, I'm thinking it's the second generation. What you said about the bezels made me think about how I hold mine. I usually have the first three fingers in the back and the pinky at the bottom holding it in place. My thumb just hovers so it can swipe to go to next page. Come to think of it, that's exactly how I hold my phone, because phones don't have bezels and your thumb is always ready to swipe. So I guess I never use the bezel for holding it.
I hold my devices the same way! I think when using the device in practice, we tend to move our fingers more than we realize. And sometimes our palms will touch the screen. We'll have to see when the device comes out!

I do the math a bit different, 139 +20 for a pw5.....189 for a sig, either way 20% off and 105 "coupon" for my 2nd gen oasis and pw4 (I charge on a SINGLE standard now, only my ps4 controller doesn't use c......and I have a ps5 so meh) if I didn't remove ads the difference wouldn't be worth it, but for what amounts to 30 dollars (minus 6 for the doscount) I'll take it and not risk regretting it later.

I’ve pre-ordered the new Paperwhite and skipped on the Signature Edition. I have the 2019 Paperwhite, but I really wanted the warm light feature so I figured I’d upgrade sooner than I normally would have. I was initially debating the Kindle Oasis, but the lack of USB-C made me pause and I was thinking of waiting for a revision of that one. I ended up picking this Paperwhite instead because the more I thought about it, the less I’d actually like having a Kindle that isn’t symmetrical, I think the design of the Oasis would ultimately bother me and the features aren’t worth the extra price point for me (as someone who reads everyday, none of them feel like a game changer personally).
You made the right choice! Unless you do a ton of audiobooks or graphic novels, the 8GB is more than enough space.

Got mine on pre-order. With all of the upgrades, it was just what I was waiting for to invest in a Paperwhite. Also, I prefer the smaller form factor compared to the Oasis. This is coming just in time for my new college degree. Looking forward to having all of my books and audiobooks in one portable device. Leather case ordered too. Amazon customer service sucks. Typical stuff; fathers death had mothers kindle on his account that is now her account but my mother does not have a PC or Smart phone she is 90. so, I need to set up her account and had a slight problem that is now recurring on a daily baes with zero help from Amazon...nothing .I NEED TO TALK TO A REPRECENTATIVE BUT NO LUCK...AT!!! ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No they are not! They last for a long time. I have had my current 3rd one since 2015 and I read everyday yet it’s still as good as new
