The next Oasis upgrades could be the following, to justify its high price tag:
1.) 8 inches or larger screen
    2.) USB C
3.) Better turn page buttons (could be larger, and doesn't cause carpal tunnel)
    4.) Lighter material
    5.) Starts at 16gb
6.) Owners will be able to read a book, and listen to its audiobook at the same time
7.) Option to read mangas/comics on a per panel basis
    8.) No Ads
9.) Option to turn recommendations off and on anytime
There will be a market for this, but for a lot of people, the latest Paperwhite is all that they will need.

Well the Oasis is still better than the Paperwhite in every way. Not to mention the screen, the most important part of a reader is still significantly better in the Oasis. I do think it is overpriced now that the Paperwhite has been upgraded to be a lot closer to the features of the Oasis. Not sure what they could possibly upgrade on the Oasis either. Maybe the connector, but that is so minor and irrelevant to performance as to be a no upgrade type of upgrade.

On the ipad air I have my books in collections. I have had such a good time with all of this. Why not regular books??? Old Age Macular Degeneration makes any of the kindles the perfect reader for me. The different sizes and fonts are great, but the icing on the cake is the bold setting. I’ve moved from 2 to 3, and it is so clear and easy to read. I am a 7 with 3 bold for now. Thanks for posting. I have an Oasis. I got a coverless case for it a few months ago, and use that and the sleeve. I’ve become so reliant on the ergonomic design of it that when I tried using my old Paperwhite a few days ago, I literally couldn’t figure out how to hold it (It was like that episode of SpongeBob where SpongeBob is trying to get Patrick to twist the lid off a jar and he can’t figure out what the lid is.. IYKYK 😂😂)
I really hope they come out with an update to the Oasis soon though. Hoping for a better screen and battery life and maybe a reduced price because there’s no justifying it being $100 more than the Paperwhite SE. I upgraded my Kindle in March and definitely would have gotten a new Paperwhite had they been out. That being said, I’m happy to own an Oasis.

I had the new Paperwhite edition but I opted for the Oasis, one of the reasons being the buttons to turn the pages. I love that feature! I never had a problem holding the Oasis and I can’t figure out why people find it to be too slippery to hold. What was going on when the slipping started? I held the Oasis in my left hand, holding the hump and pressing the page turn buttons easily. It is comfortable. With this said I did buy a case for my Oasis only because I carry it with me a lot. (I bought a photographer-type vest through Amazon that has large pockets on it so my Oasis fits easily into it. I carry a portable charger and two cables as well. This vest is one of my better investments and I bought it so I can easily carry my Oasis. I hate putting bulky things into my pants pockets.)The case reduces scratches and should I drop it the case will protect the Oasis from being damaged. This was the only reason I bought the case. I gave my Paperwhite to my brother and he likes it. He has some minor vision problems so the Paperwhite overcame the problems.

I just read fiction and non-fiction, so PPW5 is good enough for me. I just afaid about back rubber, maybe i'll find a decal for it. Thank you for your review. Hope you have a nice day.

i just got my oasis about a year ago, i love it. i dont know that i can justify buying another oasis unless it has HUGE upgrades if there is a newer model. you show good points for the new paperwhite. Personally i love my oasis, despite its hefty price tag. I personally hope they do have a newer model for oasis and have a lot of upgrades if that is the case. I had a nook prior to my kindle and as much as i did love my nook, i am not looking back from kindle. I got a great deal on the Oasis on Black Friday. I loved the screen, loved the clarity of the display, loved the page turn buttons. I'm sending it back. It is impossible to hold and read with unless you spend more on a case. I don't like cases. The aluminum is slippery, the little bump where battery is doesn't give enough to hold onto. So much as I loved the display and buttons it is on its way back to Amazon.

The problem with the oasis is that I don't like holding it nearly as much as the paperwhite. I like the buttons, but they don't make up for the awkward feeling of the device and how slippery the metal is, and now the paperwhite has usb-c. The back feels much better, so I don't mind that it gets fingerprints all over it. Make a kindle with buttons, usb-c, and a plastic back and I would need to try it.

Currently I have the Oasis, but dam the Voyage still is one of my favorites, the page turn sensors and still to this day higher contrast screen than the Oasis even, are impressive. I want to buy one of these on Prime day tomorrow. I went to a local store to check them out. I love the way the Oasis feels in the hand. It is so balanced plus the buttons. However the Oasis screen had a lot of ghosting, like screen burn in, and the contrast didn't seem as good as the Paperwhite. The blacks on the Paperwhite looked darker while the Oasis screen looked washed out. They had them in some sort of demo mode so I couldn't play with brightness settings and the store lighting was
very bright. Still not sure which to get.

I've owned a Paperwhite SE for a few months now. I upgraded from an old paperwhite (gen4 or 7 it didn't have audiobooks) which I loved. I did not realize there is No reason for wireless charging and the ambient light sensor is always off on mine (it appears to do the opposite of what it should, I hit a lot of light and it gets brighter). A regular paperwhite with no adds would have been the way to go (although I know I would still be wondering what I was missing). Also Oasis never made sense to me. They could have put a giant battery in there and made it last forever but instead they have that weird bulge. Even the Paperwhites could fit a larger battery but for some reason they don't (they have room to fit months of battery in there).

In a lot of ways the PW was always better than the Oasis to me. We were duped into believing newer and more expensive is better.
I have never cared for the form factor of the Oasis. The PW had a better battery and slipped into my pocket. I do like the bigger screen on the Oasis and I grew to appreciate warm light, now that PW has these features at a cheaper price the Oasis is blown away in my opinion.
