I agree with other comments here..... you are an amazing teacher!!!! So clear and concise! When stitching across the top of the previous stitches, I never knew if I was starting in the correct stitch..... your reminders to pull the corner stitches to the side to get into that first stitch was a game changer!!!! I’ve been questioning that simple thing for so long and other videos failed to highlight or show this clearly. Thank you!! 😘
Thank you so much for your kind words Tracy! I’m so glad you found this video helpful! I’m happy to hear you say that about my reminders. When I’m editing sometimes I feel like I get too chatty and I almost cut out those bits 😂 so I’m glad I left them in!
OMG I finally understood, was able to fully understand and follow along and crochet my first solid granny square!!! Thank you so much for making this video!!!
Round 1 - chain 4 - slip stitch into first chain - chain 5 - double crotchet 3 times - chain 2, 3 double crotchet - chain 2, 3 double crotchet - chain 2, 2 double crotchet - slip stitch into the THIRD chain from the first FIVE at beginning Round 2 - slip stitch into one of the four squares, then chain 5 - 2 double crotchet into same space - 1 double crotchet into each stitch across until you reach next corner - double crotchet, chain 2, double crotchet - double crotchet into each stitch ( 3 of them) - 2 double crotchet, chain 2 , 2 double crochet - crotchet into last three stitches - then double crotchet into the space closest to center - slip stitch into the third stitch of the space closest to end
I feel like I’m going crazy, I followed this comment to t and it made a circle 😭😭 following the video it was more square but still rounded or wonky on one side, and from a different video I somehow made a diamond shape 😵💫
This is the most comprehensive granny square tutorial I’ve followed. Thank you so much! I really appreciate that you carefully explained which loop we should be working into. That really helped!
I’m a 14 year old who taught myself how to crochet during covid. Being newer to the art it’s hard for me to find tutorials that don’t involve complex lingo. Thankyou
Same @suhavikaur3872 when i started crochet i made amigurumis (plushies) though some people say its harder, i think because people struggle with magic circles. Now I’m working on a bag and a blanket. Good luck 😊
I have been crocheting for 35yrs and have never been a granny square person because of all the holes.🤷🏻♀. However I love this version and you are by far, the best instructor on RUclips. Now, I am crocheting one big square using this tutorial. Thank you so much for the clear, concise instructions.. ☮💜🧶
Thank you for this tutorial. This was the first one that I could really understand what was going on. Trying to make a tote bag so I need a lot of granny squares. Just gonna keep rewatching til I have it down😂💜
We have the winning tutorial, The best one to follow…I’m proudly able to say I made my first granny square one side a bit tighter than the other but it’s because of my tension. Thank you so much for taking the time to display your teaching skills. I literally would give you a golden award 🥇 ❤
The thing that drew me to this tutorial was trying to get rid of that ugly line of “chain 3’s” across the entire granny square, and this is the only tutorial I’ve found that has very clear instructions, and also so simple it’s genius. It just makes so much sense. Subscribed! Thank you so much
The best crochet teacher ever. I have crocheted many years and never made granny squares. I tried several videos and was not successful. Your video did the trick. Thank you.
I'm using Caron Christmas Glitter yarn that I found at a garage sale to make your PERFECT granny squares. I want to use them for decorative pillow covers or maybe a table runner. Thank you for teaching us these truly "perfect" granny squares because they are much more solid than the traditional ones I have made in the past.
I have watched about 5 different tutorials on how to make a granny square and this video was the only one that actually helped me. You are an amazing teacher!!
OMGGG i havent been able to make one single granny square yet bc no one is ever clear about what stichets we need to be crocheting into, this was perfect thank you
Still having a bit of trouble with the corner when you have to slip stitch into the 3rd chain (counting issue) but I had to go through 3 other tutorials before finding this one and my granny square finally came out as a square and not some other lopsided shape! This tutorial was so easy to follow and the yarn you used made it super easy to see what you were doing. Definitely subscribing and going to try out your other tutorials
I am soooooooo happy i found this tutorial, i could not crochet the granny square even if i would ,,stand on my head" and i am really thankful that you did this tutorial. Thank you so much ❤❤
This is the best tutorial I’ve seen. I had to go through a few trial and errors until I found this one. This should be the first video that pops up!!! Thank you!
These are perfect, using finer cotton, for potholders. I make 2 and attach them together by crocheting a border around the edges. Many color combinations possible, of course. Much prettier than just a square of double-crochet rows!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! I’ve been following tutorial after tutorial and could not get it! I’m 66 and the struggle is real!! I did it!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi, Sigoni! Thanks so much for this detailed tutorial. I have been trying to figure this out, as there are numerous ways of doing this in various tutorials. You made it very clear, especially making sure we don't miss that first DC at the beginning of each row. That and actually counting each stitch in the row. I took a screenshot of the notation where you specified each row: Row 1 should have 3 DC; 2, should have 7; 3 should have 11; and 4 should have 15. Yayyyy! You're a wonderful teacher! Bobbie 😍
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I was doing a granny square with another tutorial and in the second row I was having like a basket and i was so sooo confused. Your tutorial was very detailed and I finished a really beautiful and neat granny square. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU 💕💕💕
OMGG BECAUSE OF YOU I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GET THE PERFECT SQUARE I saw manyyy tutorials tried and wasted a lot of yarn in trials but none got perfect square all came either triangle or circle, realised why cuz I missed first stitch, ur explaining was sooo good and I was able to go along with you, I was going to give up but saw your thumbnail decided to give one last try and yea it worked!
I have watched several other tutorials before I was introduced to you and by far you are an amazing teacher...excellent explanation, great visuals and reminders. Keep up the great work you are doing teaching and introducing others to this craft. Thank you, Barbara Peterson
Thank you for clear directions!!! I've been trying for a couple of months to do a granny square. *Crochet, frog, crochet, slow video speed, frog * rpt until tears appear... Yours is so simple😅🎉❤
Ooh Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou😉!! I have been trying to do this granny sq. & keep ending up with one missing stitch , finally you have shown the correct way And your instructions are so clear & I appreciate you using a color that shows up . You are amazing , thanks a bunch.
This is the third tutorial for the solid grannie square I have tried and by far this one creates the best looking square. Starting and ending in corner keeps it looking seamless. You give very clear directions. Thank you so much, I am going to be using your method. ❤
Wow, I've watched so many of these same tutorials however, yours was the only one that worked for me! I followed all the way to the end and made my first granny square. You explained the steps so clearly. Especially how to find the stitches, which is what I struggled with! Thank you :)
I love your tutorial! I made one very small change. Instead of chaining 5, I do 4. It makes it so the holes aren’t bigger on that corner of the square.
A tote bag😊I'll make one or more with thus granny squares, you are a fabulous teacher ❤️ my first time making granny squares and I ate all thanks to you.
I did it !!!, happy and very thankful for your easy tutorial. I am also grateful for telling us about that hidden stitch. I was able to pullback and find it to start my next round. You are a great teacher.Thank you. 🤗
OML I cannot express how helpful this was! I tried a different tutorial before this that was 3 times as long and I kept messing up. I eventually gave up and tried again today and I didn’t even have to retry once! Thank you so much! You’re a great teacher!😊
Oh my god!! I don't know how to thank you enough for this 😭 all the other tutorials were so complicated and I thought that I'd never be able to make a granny square until I found your video. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart ❤❤ new sub and like

So thankful for your videos and fb page. I could not get this stitch without leaving a funny hole in the same place. You helped me fix it. Love that I can slowly things down and really see what you are doing. Thank you for all your help!
Thank you so much for that advice on moving the corner work to the right to find that first stitch. I have always had trouble getting my granny squares, correct and that was the problem! You have kids so much of my frustrations, and have saved so many of my future projects! Thank you so much for that perfect advice.
Counting everything is key! I really like your version of no seam granny squares! I really didn't like the turn every row style of getting the joining seam gone! Lol! Thanks!
So many solid granny square tutorials out there, but I chose this one to start my blanket with, as I liked it the most. Thank you very much! I modified it a little to work with my style/yarn/hook, so I ch 6 for the starter circle with clusters of 4 instead of 3. Also ch 4 instead of 5 at the start of each row made the holes more uniform.
I tried this today and I was quiet satisfied with my work even though it wasn't as neat and perfect as yours.......but mine turned out quiet well considering that I started crocheting only about a month ago My stiches are a little loose but other that that it's great so thanks for teaching
