So I got bored of playing my guitars and watching this video really helped me find my passion in the instrument again. I got bored of playing basic chord progression. And this gave me a new meaning to playing guitar.
Not too many guitarist as soulful and can teach like you, God Bless
I am so HAPPPY!!!!!!!!!!!! I found you... Thank you so ,so much, we so much appreciate you... Love hon. You are a great teacher... everybody can't teach.
Omg That D'Angelico!!!! I want!!!!😫😫🤘🏾🔥🎸 #BeauutifulGuitar
I am a beginner, when I saw your video I felt that I was very advanced, but once I started trying I felt that it was not so difficult. I will continue watching your tutorials because I learned a lot. Thank you.
Alberto Velazquez awesome
I am very impressed_thanks!!!!
Food for my Soul...thank's a Lot...Great Musician 👏🏽
Love the lessons great stuff. One suggestion. In future lessons could you call out each note by fret for the soulful runs? its hard to see exactly what string and fret you are playing. which makes for tedious playing over and over by ear until I guess it right. It would help out alot. Thanks for the music lessons.
this is exactly how i want to play guitar
This is an awesome video! I couldn't find a solo lesson for this song until now! Plus great theory stuff! Only thing I'm missing is some tabs haha.

Very nice! sounds really good man! You explain it well. I grew up playing blues with my dad who passed about 12 yrs ago and hearing these chords and licks reminds me of him for sure, he loved jazz. Love those soulful chords. Great job... Keep it up man!👌

Man, you are a great teacher. Thank you for taking the time on this. Some of your flourishes and passing chords remind me of Riviera Paradise by SRV. I really appreciate your lessons.

No doubt, when you say we can vibe it a bit, that's great to take a classic James Brown song and demonstrate how it can be played in a different way- Mr. Brown rearranged so many of his songs he was brilliant at it( ck out l Can't Stand It on the Live cd Sex Machine). Great instruction, thankyou for your demonstration- great playing
silky smooth as usual brotha!!
Thanks for this video. I've learned so much from your content, including your covers. Any chance of any D'Angelo one of these days?
thx for the lessons brother !

If you ever get the time brotha you think you could do a tutorial of toni braxtons unbreak mh heart?,id love to see your take on how the song should be played from your perspective
🔥

Can you please do boy is not a man-jon b
Can you do a tutorial for “It’s You” by Kem?
Yo kerry I play Mexican music but I notice we use the same major scale so even tho I don't recognize some chords specifically I can kinda see what your doing yo I'll see if I can learn r&b XD arigato 👌
just learn major 7th, minor 7th, dominant 7, major and minor 9th, diminished and 1/2 diminished chords and you should be 90% of the way there
Can you leave the chords up longer so I can write them down easier
A common Progression I've heard in R&B songs After the Mid 1980s is the ivm7-bVII7-I Progression.
The Top Voice on The Chords usually is 5-4-3 (9th of the IV to the 5th of the bVII Chord.
Fm9-Bb9-C∆
Do you know the titles some songs that use this Progression?
Ever hear the James Brown/Louis Belson version?
2019
since you posted the chord shapes on screen FOR FREE
(unlike other selfish people in youtube) I am now a subscriber!
Kool playing 😎😎😎and what types of effect pedal do u use
Any fx pedals used?
It would be nice if you would play the song all the way through so those of us that may not be familiar with the peace could hear it
Love the lesson but that blues lick at 4:22 is too fast to see, I think I got the idea of it though
Karry-I THOUGHT James Brown did this song in G sharp minor
What kind of amp are you using?
3:40
6:55
8:21
Why does the Ddim7 to Fdim7 to Abdim7 run work? Can you just string dim7 chords together if the chords are in the key, regardless of being maj/min chords?
You can slide any diminished chord up or down three frets, and it will work as a substitution. This works because the diminished chord is symmetrical, -i.e. every note in the chord is a minor third (three semitones, or three frets) away from the next note. So, when you shift the shape three frets you end up playing exactly the same notes, just stacked in a different order (inversion). Try it out. Identify the notes in each chord, and as you slide them up or down you'll find that you're playing the same set of notes inverted.
@@karlfarren great to know and some insight into the fretboard i didnt have before! thanks for the fantastic explanation :)
@@nbaz93 You're welcome, Nick. Have fun!

Hey Kerry sorry for the stupid question but where does that G diminished and Diminished chord come from? And why does it work?
