    So I got bored of playing my guitars and watching this video really helped me find my passion in the instrument again. I got bored of playing basic chord progression. And this gave me a new meaning to playing guitar.

    Love the lessons great stuff. One suggestion. In future lessons could you call out each note by fret for the soulful runs? its hard to see exactly what string and fret you are playing. which makes for tedious playing over and over by ear until I guess it right. It would help out alot. Thanks for the music lessons.

    No doubt, when you say we can vibe it a bit, that's great to take a classic James Brown song and demonstrate how it can be played in a different way- Mr. Brown rearranged so many of his songs he was brilliant at it( ck out l Can't Stand It on the Live cd Sex Machine). Great instruction, thankyou for your demonstration- great playing

    A common Progression I've heard in R&B songs After the Mid 1980s is the ivm7-bVII7-I Progression.
    The Top Voice on The Chords usually is 5-4-3 (9th of the IV to the 5th of the bVII Chord.
    Fm9-Bb9-C∆
    Do you know the titles some songs that use this Progression?

    Why does the Ddim7 to Fdim7 to Abdim7 run work? Can you just string dim7 chords together if the chords are in the key, regardless of being maj/min chords?

    • @karlfarren
      @karlfarren 4 года назад +1

      You can slide any diminished chord up or down three frets, and it will work as a substitution.This works because the diminished chord is symmetrical, -i.e. every note in the chord is a minor third (three semitones, or three frets) away from the next note. So, when you shift the shape three frets you end up playing exactly the same notes, just stacked in a different order (inversion). Try it out. Identify the notes in each chord, and as you slide them up or down you'll find that you're playing the same set of notes inverted.
