    I have been in love with this progression since I learned it years ago from you. Every time I hear you play it, it sounds like I have heard it for the first time. Simply amazing. Thanks for all that you do.

    Thanks a lot for the lesson on guitar man. I produce music mainly on keys, been playing and singing with guitar in open D very long time. I Decided to expand on the guitar more and learn standard E because the soulful sounds comes out of Maj/min 7. Again, good lesson and thank you so very much.

    Love this Kerry. What was particularly helpful was talking about overkill, and also how you can add subtleties to make your comping more colorful. It's also great to make it a point to play the chord progression in various voicings with INTENTIONAL placement. Love the Snarky Puppy t-shirt too! God bless and thanks for sharing these wonderful tutorials! #FretSister

    I've never been able to get the trem movement right like you do. It always is a little too wide or too fast. It's like trying to catch a greased hog with your bare hands. Btw, how much compression do you like to use? All of your embellishment pop out, but how much of that is your compression?

      Kerry's Tone & Style shines with this Rig. I think he is using a solid state amplifier by Quilter.

    • @kylemacmanus8079
      @kylemacmanus8079 5 лет назад +1

      the first part, higher on the fret board, is Gmaj7, F#min7, Emin7sus2. then the next part is a jimi hendrix style triad, you can think of it as just G major to an A major, but he is playing the root note with his thumb, omitting the fifth while playing the triad. check out videos of john mayer playing "something like olivia." it's simpler once you see it played then to describe it. the fast change up he plays lower on the neck is Gmaj7, F#min7, Bmin7, Bmin7/E (same chord as before but let your open low E string play as well) then back into the hendrix style triads to lead back into the beginning riff.
      Other than the triads using the thumb, he's playing 7th chords mostly. check out the five and six string shapes for 7th chords and this video will make a lot more sense. Hope this helps! this is a really fun progression and if you aren't already familiar with these shapes it's a great place to focus on to improve and add some color to your basic major and minor chords (the min7 sus 2 chord is just a minor 7th shape and take off your middle finger and just bar it.)
      once these shapes are second nature the flourishes he adds with his pinky finger will become very apparent to you I promise. its just a half step hammer on. Good luck!
