Well, he cant. A copyright holder does not have the right to put such restrictions into place. I mean he CAN sue, he just will be laughed out of court by the judge.
"In the name of the force given to me by the Internet Police, I sentence you to putting your hands to the air, screaming, paying monies and repenting for murder of Kennedy!"
Honestly, Mad Father is terrifying to me *not* because of the visuals and sounds perse, but because of the presentation of things like Insanity, Progress before Morality and the general fact that these horrors are thrown towards a young child that otherwise had a fairly innocent mind. For me, horror isn't when you make someone jump in their seat or walk through a dark corridor slowly. True horror is when you get into Someone's soul and begin playing with the emotional attachment and concern they may have for a character.
Honestly, you lose sympathy for how "innocent" Aya is because her backstory explains that she's basically a psychopath like her parents. So even from the beginning she's basically a lost cause and saving her isn't really a good ending if she's just gonna experiment on other people like her father in the future.
This is exactly why I loved the Max Payne 3 game, while people often shit on it you get to really feel max's pain and suffering throughout the game, living in his life and always having just that tiny but of hope at the bottom of their heart.
Yeah, Monika doesn't sound quite right either. Though I'm not sure if the pronunciation should be Japanese "moan-eeka" or English "maw-nika," it sounds like he combined both. And he said ayo oni once...
The remake actually made the press z segments much better by instead making you press different button combinations multiple times in order to escape giving actual challenge
They could have done without making Aya's father so obviously evil, and cutting out the affair. It was perfectly fine with it being Aya ignoring the possibly human experimentation without it.
I heard Mad father wasn't that good from my son. He's pretty kick ass, so I trusted him. He got pretty sad playing it. In other words, I heard mad dad was bad from my rad lad who got sad. No no, don't say it, I already have the noose ready.
This is an interesting little tidbit that I doubt anyone will actually find interesting, but the graphics in this game are actually graphics from RPG Maker VX Ace, except scaled down to fit WolfRPG's resolution requirements.
For me the scariest part about this game is that I share the same name as the protagonist. So when her father called out her/my name, I had chills down my back!
Are you ever going to get to actually reviewing OFF? It's probably my favorite RPG horror and fits right in with the others that you've been reviewing. I'd love to see it.
I know it's an old video but according to the site " Videos and streams are allowed, but should not be monetized. Including the game's title and linking the game page/store page in any videos of it is appreciated." So everything seems to be good.
i imagine the only reason they stipulate no "live" streaming is because the grotesque imagery and depictions of murder can't be warned if someone pops in at some random point in the live stream, as people often do. it's probably more of them trying to save other people from triggering something bad, possibly having someone get hurt drastically in panic or something like that. they probably don't do anything about lets plays and the like because, more often than not, lets players include those sorts of warnings in the beginning of their part 1.
The overall premise of the game reminds me of Hotaru Tomoe and her father from Sailor Moon. Dr. Tomoe was conducting unethical experiments in possession, soul extraction, and offering himself and his daughter as vessels for alien lifeforms to do with as they saw fit. In this scenario, "Hotaru" (Aya) is given the ability to walk around and uncover what her father is doing, as opposed to suffering from (all too convenient) seizures that leave memory gaps about what she was doing under alien possession, her father's ultimate goal.
I'm writing something inspired by Mad Father, in the "family of three is dysfunctional, the mom's not around and the dad's a mad scientist who experiments on humans" aspect. everything else about it is either random ideas, or random inspirations
More likely trying to encourage people to play the game themselves. Quite often, people will just watch the stream and call it good, and stories like this are best experienced first-hand. Playing it yourself after watching the whole thing just doesn't convey the impact of it, and most people don't really have the interest to put in the time to play it themselves, so will opt for the stream instead
I am so late to the party, but you’re like one of my favorite RUclipsrs now, especially with your taste which is nearly identical to mine! So that especially helps with finding what might wanna play.
I think the ‘no video stuff’ rule was something the dev forgot to remove, as it sounds like from the message that the game was stolen by someone in the early days. As in, someone made a fake site and took credit for the game.

Looking back at JUST HOW MANY games of the indie RPG genre you've played, I'm curious to see what you'd think of something in a more FF-esque vein, like maybe the Aveyond games. Yes, they are TAME by comparison, but they're written alarmingly well. (can definitely recommend starting at Aveyond 3-1)
i like these types of rpg maker horror games most. good videos on these, though id like to see some that maybe not so many people have heard of (but i get that theyre the most known for a reason)
I answered this on Nitro's Misao video since both games were made by Sen and had similar guidelines: Sen *initially* banned streams and LPs because of what happened after release: Streams that slandered/made fun of the game and people making profit out of a free game while Sen had none whatsoever (Sen had some sort of revenue thanks to its novelazation, but they only lend the IP and that was only 4 years after the game's release). *This ban eventually got lifted with certain compromises, and I quote: "Videos and streams are allowed, but should not be monetized. Including the game's title and linking the game page/store page in any videos of it is appreciated".* Of course this all happened way before the Steam release, and the free version is still avaliable to download. Developers don't put these kinds of guidelines out of pettiness or something like that, they do it in order to protect their IP from being exploited/misused, kind of like what happened with Heartbound thanks to GT Live recently.
I mean, nobody is following the rule because it's stupid and unenforceable. There is no copyright law that in any country that's that restrictive. I get why he has it, he wants people to play it rather than just watch a LP, but whatever.

The many Japanese dolls that appear & the mispelling of "Dein Vate[r] Mörder" were rly off putting, but in a hilarious way. - To all the ppl, who aren't cheapskates, you should definietely buy the Steam remake over the free RPG Maker GAME
Thats not a right that a copyright holder has. No matter how explicit he is in his request. Oh, sure, youtue might listen to them. But who cares about that? You wont face a judge for it.
Can you do Off? It is a calm and creepy enjoyable game. It has a bit of humor from a merchant that breaks the 4th wall to a boss who is the merchants girlfriend who loves sugar.
I replayed through the remake on steam and what was claimed to be the original version. The version shown in this seems more like the one I played through intially. I remember that action track and more z mashing like in this version than what I had played the other day.

Since you like to do hidden gems, I think you should do Donkey Kong 64. It doesn't get the attention it deserves for the fact it followed the line of Zelda and Mario games where they're were classics on the NES and SNES, hell, DK has been around since arcades. It followed the same pattern, but it has SO much content and humor, it's a real shame people might never hear about it. It might be popular, but I think it should have the same following as games like Mario 64 and OoT. Hands down not my favorite N64 game, but favorite game of all time
Well nah but the but the reason why he was experimenting on these people is actually scary like spoilers dont read but he was preparing to turn his daughter into a doll 😳
The only reason I can think of as to why the creator doesn’t want people to stream it is spoiler reasons, not wanting everything shown off to people who have yet to play it. The only examples I can think of is Sakuri’s not making a story mode on smash wii u because people posted subspace emissary cutscenes or Toby not wanting people to post deltarune stuff for a set amount of time
The creator didn't want people to stream it because, at first, people would either slander the game or make profit out of a free game without the creator receiving any themselves (whether this happened overseas or in Japan exclusively, I'm not sure). I'm talking in past sentence since that is no longer the case, the creator lifted said ban with a compromise: Streams/YT videos of their games shall not be monetized.
