I skipped 14 anticipating USB C and periscope in the 15. Had we gotten periscope I would have pulled the trigger. Now i’ll stay with Lightning 1 more year and hold onto my 13 Pro.

First time I come across this channel, I actually don't enjoy the humor personally. I'm generally not a fan of jokes that boil down to saying "we're cool, and look at them, they're stupid" repeatedly. Stuff like "unless you get the freakishly large pro max if you're a communist" just makes my head scratch. Anyways, just not my cup of tea, I'm sure many others enjoy this.

Everyone, take the approach I started to take when getting my iPhone X:
Update when your phone can no longer update to the latest OS ( which is about 5/6 years ) and you will always be getting a worthy upgrade of a phone.
I'm still using my X and it works perfectly, only getting the 15 now because I can't update to 17 and, I want to stay on the 5 generation cycle ( used to be on the S cycle )
Phones in general are plateauing, the sooner you realize this, the better off you will be.
😂 screw software updates the moment of bugs, patches, battery decrease, random glitches each update gets it never gets fixed

they have by far the longest support compared to any other android so that would be counter intuitive of them no ? And also reason for the eventual dropped support ls because of insufficient processing power to support all the newest features while delivering a "lag free" experience (they're also a business that works by making profit, and it would be abysmal for them if you could keep it for 10 years) @@bigmaxcc
I have an S21 Ultra, with 10x zoom. I've used it 3 times in 1 year.
That zoom level is pointless.
I would prefer large, flagship sensors for the ultrawide and 3x rather than 5x and 10x zoom.
That would be much better for low light photos and videos.
Exactly right mate. My partner has the S23 and she literally never uses it. The image quality is awful, and what exactly are you showing at 10x magnification.?
The lens on the iPhone will provide much better images.
Don't worry, you'll justify that 10x when iPhone gets one.

I think the 5x telephoto is going to be a bigger deal than people are giving it credit for. With a 25% larger sensor with 100% focus pixels, a 3D sensor-shift stabilisation system and Apple's new image pipeline, I think the photos are going to be pretty nice. It's not all about how big your zoom lens is, it's about how well you use it! ;)
Also the 48mpx camera and and it’s halving of pixels for a just as perfect 2x camera fills in the niche that the third camera had before. Now our camera is even more snazzy!
Not to mention an f2.8 aperture. Apple's camera strategy has always been about image quality. The periscope cameras are good for surveillance, and not much else. I'm getting the Pro Max specifically for that camera.
The biggest difference with their 5x will be noticeable on photos (daytime), but on the nighttime photos and videos, where every little handsake can ruin the result on Android, but because of OIS on iPhone it will be super good. Basically Android manufacturers never show you a nighttime photo with longer exposure, or a video recording with their zoom, but Apple announced their own with these on purpose, ro show that the zoom is not only for fast daytime photos..

The pixel has 4x optical and at 10x it is drastically better than the iPhone. 5x is fine.

I would absolutely love a video summarizing all the rumored iPhone 16 Ultra features, including both those that were supposed to come out this year for the 15 Pro Max and those that were always aimed for next year's 16 Ultra. Off the top of my head, those include a 6.9" display, 2 TB storage option, Wi-Fi 7, 48 megapixels Ultra Wide lens, 10-12x optical zoom via a new super telephoto periscope lens, Thunderbolt 4 @ 40 Gbps data transfer speed, 40W wired charging, 20W MagSafe charging, larger battery capacity, and stacked battery technology.

I absolutely love this segment! You need to do one after every major rumor cycle Please! So much better than watching Max Tech go hog wild all year long on fake rumors, and all they’re hyperbolic rhetoric only to turn around when none of it comes true, and pretend like they never said any of it.

That guy just loves to make videos of every single leak and back then up with evidence and still fails.
Sort of shows that these channels are irrelevant as everyone is just guessing and have no idea what they are coming out with.
I enjoy Mac tech only because they are just talking about tech and what could happen. No one has to take them seriously but it’s entertaining to hear future ideas.

I want to get the Yellow iPhone 15 512GB and its price do increase RM200 in Malaysia here, but what you guys think of the Yellow color of the iPhone 15? If I use Apple Clear Case will the color noticeable or be should I get RhinoShield Mod NX case with clear back and more saturated Yellow color side bumper, which one looks better?
I’ll take the upgrades. It’ll be interesting how the camera preforms. I wouldn’t put it past Apple to have some issues with the new lens set up but hoping for the best! However 10x is cool but it’s a pretty big gap from 3x. Apples 5x zoom system may just impress us.
I mean if you look at delivery times now, they definitely didn’t have a high number for inventory ready to ship. (Seeing as it only took a couple hours for the pros to be pushed back in shipping dates.)
So many people do have to wait until October, even November. So, I guess you’re partially right but also some people are getting it on the 22nd :)

I upgraded to the 15 pro max from the 13 pro max. I use to upgrade every year but now it’s harder to justify. I’ll keep this one until probably the 18 pro amazing 🤣
I'm not a huge tech guy which is why I watch channels like this. I just discovered this channel and you might be the funniest dude tech channel out. Very entertaining love the channel always love looking forward to your next video.
Actually 5x at ƒ 2.8 seems pretty sweet to me, though I still wish we had gotten Thunderbolt.
As for USB 3.1 Gen 2, it should increase media transfer speed, but I'm hoping it will also speed up Mac syncs.
Besides the 5x zoom on the 15 pro max, they did nothing else with Camera hardware improvements. The regular 15pro camera has the same exact camera as last years, iPhone 14pro. The aperture and sensor sizes stayed the same. They only added some software and HDR5 additions. Its not the best year for the regular pro.

x5 zoom is what is used most often for sports events, concerts, any larger event basically. While x10 zoom is really only useful for that one time moon shot that you never going to repeat 😂 So what I’m saying is that there’s a reason why google also uses x5 zoom and not x10 or x15 lol. This one goes to Apple for doing homework and not giving us useless x10 zoom but a proper one that we are actually going to use
Much past 5X zoom and you start to need a fixed tripod to get clear images.
Apples approach to “periscope” camera will undoubtedly result in a better image. This accordion design to the lense allows them to have an even bigger sensor and lenses. So the 5X photos should look really good for a telephoto camera. I bet the 10x digital zoom will end up being comparable in image quality to the 10x optical zoom on Samsungs phone.
I'll definitely come back to reply this comment after watching a video comparison about both phones.

periscope zoom phones have a smaller sensor size. also usb 3 speed is all you need due to limitation of NAND chip speed and it's the same with Samsung, 10 gbps. Being able to shoot pro raw 4k 60fps and save to external storage and having SOS satellite for the 2nd year while android still doesn't have it. Though name drop has been a thing on Android since 2017. And foldable as well.
That's just wrong... the 25% increase translates to a just about 1/2.8 sensor or so. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Pixel 7 Pro have a 1/2.5 sensor, the Pixel 6 Pro a 1/2, the Oppo Find X6 Pro a 1/1.56 (about the same size as the main sensor in the standard iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, and S23/+). There are tons of periscope zoom phones with larger sensors.
As for satellite: Motorola Defy 2, Huawei Mate 50 and then the subsequent P60 devices, and Android 14 has support enabled so the recent Pixels and Samsung flagship S devices with the 8 gen 2 (iirc) will be getting it via software update first.
@@arthurchristmas4112 I agree with everything you posted, just wanted to clarify that the 25% sensor size increase from the 14P 3x zoom with their 1/3.5" sensor means the 15PM sensor for the 5x will be around 1/3.2"
So from a tiny sensor to a less tiny one, that's why the pixels size are going from 1 micrometer to 1.12 micrometer in size

Would have preferred a longer zoom however it’s all about image quality for me.
When you realize that Periscope already exist on iphone after upgrading to the next line, even though you already got the 14 pro max makes you regret your life choices (yes periscope already exist, all you need to do is buy a external lense you clip on your already owned lens cover and boom you got 10x+ zoom on a standard 3x camera).

What people don't realize is that Apple is taking a loss from not hiking up the prices to adjust for inflation. The Samsung Galaxy ultra is already adjusted for inflation and yet the cheaper iPhone uses way more expensive materials and more advanced chips with a more expensive operating system in it. People just assume that iPhone is overpriced when in reality it's a bit underpriced. And it's the whole reason why iPhone is always the best selling phone in the world.
the lowest model iphone will be worth more than the same year highest model samsung in 3 years. so yeah.. the iphone is best bang for the buck!

I mean at least with this setup and the 48mpx camera allows for such a versatile camera set. You have the perfect 2x zoom, not an slightly more awkward 3x camera (which actually love dearly) and makes room for a fancy X5 camera. A nice balance of regular, portrait, and fancy zoom!
Maybe next year they’ll add 48mpx lense to the zoom and make it a 6x camera, that way they can half it down to 3x 🤔
(On the pros of course- periscope for the max)

I was really looking forward to a red color option for the pro
Pro photographers already say the 120mm focal length will create a worse experience. Apple used a lot of marketing gimmicks with how the 15 Po Max will be taking pictures when it's literally just cropping its images like anyone could already do with their fingers. The 15 Pro Max setup isn't as optimized for the way most people take pictures compared to last year's iPhone 14 Pro Max sadly.
We already knew there was trouble in paradise when Apple announced 5X.
When you say "Pro photographers" you're just citing Tony Northrup and his video was full of misleading comments. 1) yes, when you cite a 35mm equivalent focal length you need to multiply out the aperture as well. However, not one single smartphone vendor cites this because it's too confusing. This isn't an Apple thing. 2) He is absolutely wrong that the iPhones different focal lengths are just digital cropping. Try it yourself. Do a digital zoom in the iPhone and compare with a crop in post and let us know if they are identical. 3) Yes, you are swapping a "77mm" lens for a "120mm" lens so if you need 77mm you will have to interpolate so it will be "worse" but if you need "120mm" it will be better. As a so called professional photographer he's should be aware of this basic concept when you can't have every possible focal length in your camera bag.
I agree it was basically Tony, and pretty much only Tony. Never listen to anyone who professes to be an Apple Fanboy and then proceeds to trash Apple! Check out the recent article at DPReview instead. It was very objective and really didn't trash Apple at all.

The 120mm focal length is less than ideal than the 70mm of the 14. And it is just cropping that Apple is doing. Apple is being called out for being disingenuine to the customers of which is exactly what they're doing.

0:00 YES. I thought apple would make better use of having three cameras by combining the images of each into one for more sensor surface area in low light. (A killer feature rumored for android side) instead, they use two camera sensors simultaneously not for surface area, but for a proprietary 3D video just viewable on vision pro?! 🤦♀️ I already know when the multiple sensor array feature comes out, apple will implement it many years after the competition.
Unfortunately don't have access to this data but the 'shortage' prediction you made, may not be entirely wrong. However, its believed that the Max would be the most popular model for this lineup. All I know is the Max sold out pretty fast, which could either mean due to high demand, or product shortage. But I'm wondering how much of an influence price would be. You'd think "oh, its the most expensive and techie model, most likely not appealing to a general audience."?

To be fair, Apple should have delayed the shipments of the Pro Max. The volume available is poor.
Managed to find out that one major retailer in the UK had such poor allocations.

You were not entirely wrong about the pro Max delays. It seems the pro Max variants are having much higher delivery date delays compared to the pro variants. Almost a month in many countries like India.

I came to a conclusion that Apple is no longer competing with any other company now they are just making the IPhone that u used to like before and u still like, just stronger every year adding new tweaks new upgrades (sort of) and that’s it …the beauty is in the simplicity …the expensive simplicity

10x optical zoom on a phone, not sure that matters to me. Stabilizing such a shot requires some kind of tripod or something or your shot will be blurry. Maybe I'm missing something here
Most of the “improvements” from iOS 17 to go with the new slow charging non zoom iPhone only works with other iPhones. I know as many android users as I do iPhone users, so I can’t even use all the “new” stuff that’s been on androids for years because it won’t work with other phones.
I was genuinely mostly happy this year with the event. Why? Because I avoided leak channels and videos for an entire year and surprise! Turns out spoiling everything before the event and getting your hopes up is no fun.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max was upgraded to 8GB. However, Apple decided not to upgrade the speed of the RAM for some very strange reason, so the iPhone 15 series is running older and slower RAM than the competition with just LPDDR5. The S23 Ultra, for example, has 12GB of even faster LPDDR5X RAM. So, the S23 Ultra has 33% faster RAM.
Apple normally tries to stay up to the competition on the speed part at least. But it seems like the iPhone has been a phone of cost-cutting this time around.
The thing fpt. Is that these rumors probably were real and then reconsidered off of reaction or time constraints. You know things change when you work on it.
The “iPhone didn’t increase in price” is an illusion. Distracted by a storage increase making it equal to previous years is baloney. They’ve waited until those modules become cheap enough to maintain profit margins. We’ve now been anchored to expect that base price even though 256 are cheap enough for the $1099.
