The win-loss may not matter too much in the grand scheme of the year, but the narrative matters. If the offense can't shake themselves out of rough times to meet a strong team, October could be rough if they don't go into it red hot. Granted, it's still a crapshoot as just looking back last year, both world series teams were both masters of being hot and cold throughout the year. Both teams looked very ugly at times and yet they got to where they got to last year.
I would've liked this to be a clash for the ages because as fans, it's something we live for while waiting for October, but I don't see it happening this weekend. My confidence in the offense is still not high yet, but 17 runs over the last two games helps. They however uncharacteristically gave up 17 runs over the last 2 games, with a few not being earned by the pitching staff. But at least we got the 3 aces (in my opinion) -- or 1 ace and 2 near-future aces if that's what you'd prefer -- coming up in the rotation.

You guys rock! I’m ok with the Dodgers not winning 100+ games every season as long as they bring it in the playoffs! I feel like in the past, they get burned out from trying to win every game during the regular season. We are in first place. Let the guys figure things out. These games don’t really matter.

It really felt like the pirates were never out of it. I’m not satisfied with that win last night and Buehler needs moved to the pen. He’s not good at all this year. Could cost us

Do we have to go over the definition of insanity again….?
Doing the same thing over and over (like say hanging a weak pitch) and expecting a different result…
It’s so hard to watch a team alternate between being heroic one night and utterly pathetic the next-
Also: so our pitcher throws a complete game shutout one night and for a week he is crowned all star, rookie of the year, Cy Young etc etc and all week long he talks about how great everything is- then, on his very next turn, he’s given a 4 run lead and can’t get through 3 innings-
How about next time a player has a good game, he says, like Coby,
“Job not done yet” and then shuts up, no matter how many bouquets Kirsten throws at you…
I just don’t get this team- I’m utterly baffled-
Is it a core weakness, a timidity?
Does the manager have enough John McGraw in him? A manager that can inspire a little fear along with encouragement?
It always comes down to Character-
