    If it was dangerous to drive your 392 Scat Pack in track mode, there would be a warning on your dash or it would say so in the manual. Dodge wants to pay for as few engines and transmissions as possible under the 60,000 mile/60 month power train warranty. I drive my Challenger Scat Pack in Track mode quite often. I say just do it! You only live once! Let it eat!!

      @Jr Jr So Mr. Jr Jr who likes to rag on other peoples rides , what makes you so knowledgeable about cars ? And what were you driving before you put those 20K on your scat , and how is it that YOU say anything before 2015 was junk ? Explain to me how you with all your mechanical wisdom came to that conclusion ? My wife drives a 2019 scat LIKE YOU and my 2012 SRT-8 will smoke that car any day of the week but that's because I'm a mechanic and I made it that way . Contrary to what you may believe you don't have the fastest or the best car on the street and even if you did , SO What ! Even if you had enough money for a car that actually is fast you do realize anyone with money can have the same thing , what you clearly do not realize is that in the world of motorsports what is respected MOST is what you can build with your own hands. Think about that for awhile .

    Around town, and on county roads, I run my A-8 Challenger in "Sport Mode", because I absolutely hate "MDS". As far as "break-in" goes, I broke it in, like I intended to drive it. On delivery day, I ripped it hard at full throttle. In 3 years now, I've had no issues at all.

    There isn’t nothing wrong with daily driving a scatpack in track mode at all… it’s all about how you drive it. If you bounce it off the gears on and off the throttle that’s bad but don’t dog it out constantly and you’ll be fine. Also it has a rev limiter so don’t worry too much about the red line.

    I have a 2016 Scatpack and always drive in Custom which is set to TRACK MODE used with the TAZER and have never had an issue. You can also drive in Sport Mode same thing. Remember this car has MDS "multi-displacement system" that deactivates a cylinder bank on the Hemi V8 engine to operate in four-cylinder mode for greater fuel efficiency. By setting to Sport or Track it will never deactivate a cylinder bank something you don't want because its been known to cause lifter issues. More so with the 5.7 but the 6.4 is also prone to have the same issue. I also use the manual shift all the time to control the RPM and shift pattern. I hate driving around town and it shifts into 6th or 7th, just my 2 cents.

  • @chrisn8876

    Simply put, track/sport mode means ur car is gonna rev higher (engine does more work) which is especially useless if ur cruising on the highway, and the shifts are gonna be rough. The hemis are reliable so I don’t think ur car is going to break or anything, but thousands of miles down the line ur transmission will definitely start feeling more beat than it should (hard shifts, redlining and not shifting properly, and car bogging when u downshift)

  • @uzi7315

    Not sure who told you that all it does is open your car’s full potential. If your theory was right why didn’t the FCA put a warning when switching to Track. I owned a 16’ Charger SRT and never had issues. Also the shifting problem I get that when my transmission is cold and I’m on Track mode beside that as long as I don’t floor it it’ll shift right. I owned a 10’ Charger srt8 before this car and honestly Track mode makes it feel like the srt8.

    The issue with shifting you’re having is from beating on the car before the engine is broken in. I have a 2019 392 scat pack wide body challenger with over 8k miles on it, no issues. As soon as I got it home from the dealership I installed an oil catch can (an absolute must for these cars) and as hard as it was, I followed the FCAs recommendations for engine brake-in. This is also a must for these cars despite the debate about its importance. I also waited until the break- in was complete before installing the hellcat wide body air box or any other mods or upgrades. I fully understand the temptation to smash that throttle and do a burnout out of the dealership, but trust me it is worth waiting and doing it the right way. I now drive the piss out of her like I just robbed a liquor store and she never skips a beat. About to replace the factory tires with nitro nt555rs

    • @RARochester
      @RARochester 3 года назад

      What are FCA’s recommendation for break in ? 500 miles ? 1000 ? Also, does installing a catch can void your warranty ? My scat WB is on order. Thanks....

  • @MoparAdventure

    Fun fact in an auto it puts less wear and tear on your transmission to run it in track. The reason is because clutch packs arent slipping to allow a more comfortable shift. No slipping just straight into gear. Just not good on your adaptive dampeners. Run a custom setup suspension-auto mode and trans in track mode, prob best combo.

    Track mode will not hurt your car. It does the same thing as many tunes. Just changes the shift point of the transmission and opens up the exhaust valves. Actually rhe problems these engines have is quite the opposite. The issues these car's have is with vehicles like cop cars and work trucks with the 5.7 and 6.4 that sit around and idle or sit in traffic. At low rpm the oil does not always get to the lifter causing the cam to get a flat spot. The MDS engines are even worse. Turn your MDS off keep out of eco mode and drive it like it was ment to be driven with out all the EPA bullcrap.

      These issues are nothing new and have been dated back for many years so much so theres dozens of conversion kits out there for MDS deletes... If your worried about fuel economy and want to stay in eco/mds mode than you probably shouldn't be driving that sort of vehicle.

    My Scat Pack makes a loud noise when shifting gears and when you put it in reverse or in neutral. You can also feel it on how rough it is when changing gears. Now I do know Track mode and Sport mode have your RPMs up higher, and that gives it hard shifts. But now my car gives me rough shifts. Not hard shifts.
    Dealership is acting like my car is supposed to do that. But the idiots drove it in automatic in plain street mode and drove the speed limit when testing it out. So now I need to take it back and have them ride with me so I can prove to them.

    been driving mine in track for 24k miles and it runs perfect! not sure if its a myth or not

    I truly believe that track mode is make specifically for the track but can also be driven on the street but not every time because track mode gives you stiffer steering and suspension

      No question. I’m more so just talking about the transmission. When I use track I have it in custom with steering and suspension on different settings. I only use the full blow track on every setting for canyon runs and things like that

      Unless you have the adaptive suspension, the suspension will not stiffen in track mode. The steering will tighten up though.

    It might be the pedal box messing with the computer in the car which is why the trans acts weird sometimes but idk just a theory lol

    • @louiexiii91
      @louiexiii91  4 года назад

      Na it happened before I ever installed the pedal box. Gotta be some issue with the trans. Couple other people said it’s happened to them before as well

      Dont get me wrong those thing's work and are fun, I had a sprint booster on my 6.1 but can fail and cause all kinds of problems. It's best just to get a tuner, It's a night and day difference.

      Without a doubt bro. Totally agree and I’m actually in the process of getting that done. This thing is super fun in the meantime though

    It's 100% fine from a mechanical standpoint to drive a Hemi in any factory installed mode all the time, including track mode. The things that actually hurt your Hemi include not allowing it to warm up to operating temp before hard driving, never driving your car (you have to get those parts heat cycled and fluids moving regularly) aftermarket modifications, especially the tazer, and neglecting maintenance intervals. These cars were built to be driven hard. They don't give us almost 500hp in the Scatpack from the factory, and 700+hp in the Hellcat for us to just sit there and brag about it.

    When you start your car hold the traction control down to fully turn it off👍

    • @louiexiii91
      @louiexiii91  4 года назад

      Yes sir. I definitely know how to turn it completely off. Sometimes it still cuts power even being fully off though 🤷🏻‍♂️

    This is common with more than just dodge just sport mode or sport mode + in modern cars will drop thousands of miles of life from your trans, even the CVT’s run a lot hotter. The Ecoboost, and others will burn up the trans just after warranty. Its not the when it is new it is when you have no warranty is when the problems happen. They do engineer them to work just long enough at the extremes to last past the powertrain warranty. Every trans is serviceable do a fluid change every 15k or less if you are running it as hard as I see some on the youtube channels. D not let them tell you your transmission is a lifetime fill, yes you are going to pay for the fluid change but its worth it.
