Fired my LCP II .22 for the first time today. Tiny little gun with 11 rounds. I can consistently hit a 6 inch target at 10 yards. 100 rounds in, I shot a 3 inch group at 15 yards. Right proud of that one.
Number one rule in a gunfight is... Have a gun! 22's work just fine if you choose a good quality 22, with a good track record. Keep them clean. Keep lubed. Great video and full of common sense. I own and use dozens of pistols and revolvers. They run the full gamut of large heavy caliber to micro 22. Depending on the need, each can be the perfect gun to fit the task. The micro 22 in some circumstances can be the best option over all other choices.
I agree with you 100%. I carry a Ruger SR22. Any weapon is better than no weapon. And any hole in you that isnt supposed to be there is a very bad thing.
currently own (2) of the 21A's in 22LR (1 threaded) Rationale....same weapon/same magazine, cheap ammo, carry a 1,000 rounds & low profile. If it's go time.....rounds to the throat, face/head are crucial.
The Walther you show,is the latest model. Mine was made in 2010,and rejects all ammo except CCI mini mags. But it is reliable,after initial 500 rounds. I carry a S&W m&p 22. Love it
I love micro handguns. I carry a ruger lcp custom 380 or a ruger lcp 22 a lot mine is very reliable and I can shoot it fast and stay on target more than the 380. Looking to get a Taurus 942 ultra lite snubby 8 shot 22 magnum but there out of stock everywhere. Hopefully ruger will come out with a 32 version one day. Also the Taurus tx22 with 16 round magazines is a nice shooting pistol. Great video much appreciated.
The other reason, and the more important reason, for the tip up barrel on the Beretta is to clear a failure to eject. Since the Bobcat has no ejector or extractor racking the slide would not clear a stuck case. The only way to clear it would be to pop the barrel open and pry it out although most of the time the unejected case will flip out when you hit the barrel release.

Practically 4 years ago I got so lucky and found a Beretta 21 bobcat in 22 long rifle blue with light colored wooden grips it's as if the previous owner shot at once and put it in his sock drawer.. mine loves Remington yellow jacket in viper conical bullets not one jam with the Remington yellow jackets and vipers
No Law Enforcement here , only doing Plumbing years ago in 305 projects & lil concealed Onix .22 might have even up my odds. Noggins are bigger than soda cans @ 10 yds.
My gripe about .22 rimfire is that malfunctions were just too common for self-defense use. One of my first guns was a HK4 that was convertible between .22LR, .25ACP, .32ACP & .380 and while the center fire configurations were good, the .22 brass would stovepipe more often than not. This was 40 years ago, and IME the only reliable .22 pistol of the time was the Ruger "Luger" that wasn't great for concealment. Things have improved a lot in 40 years, but I'd still rather stay and fight with center-fire ammo. But any working gun is better than no gun when the chips are down.
for whats its worth from my experience with new 22 i have prob had less then 20 ammo malfunctions and most of the ones i have had were with remington ammo
My choice for CC is pocket carry. The Phoenix .22 was what I started with. I did the mods on my Phoenix and like it a lot more this way. Recently I moved up to the Ruger LCP II in .380. I also got the LCP in .22 as a trainer.
@@missouripatriot6926 While it functioned very well, I could not shoot it accurately. Even with the Hoage Grip, it was hart to hit anything with it. Sold both the LCP's and replaced the LCPII .380 with the new LCP Max. I went 2with a larger .22 for target shooting.
PT-22 has the mag release on the grip behind the trigger. The PT-22 I provided for my daughter can make one hole groups at three paces! Back away from the mighty mouse gun!

I carry a KelTec P32 also. The .32 is much more powerful though than a .22LR. There are multiple test videos on RUclips of people shooting FBI ballistic gel and getting 12" to 18" of penetration (the requirement of the FBI) with Fiochi Xtreme XTP hollow points and they feed reliably in my P32.
Have you had any issues with the gun ? Looks like a cool little 32 ACP I assume a little leery of Kel-Tec. I own a couple of Old Mill syrup 32 so I've got plenty of ammo and there's one I look at every time I'm at the gun shop
Never had a malfunction. All I do is clean it occasionally and carry in a homemade wallet style holster in my front pocket. I can hit a 4" circle all day at 7 to 10 yds. My other carry gun is a Ruger LC9s Pro. Carry on a slide holster under a shirt or jacket.
I have only heard of bad reliability reviews for the Walther P22 and the Phoenix 22. I wonder what your reliability experiences have been. I also wonder which of the guns you showed us are available in California. Will check it out. Definitely any gun is better than no gun, and I like these choices to get some family members to become proficient with the basics in using a pistol.

How do hollow points feed through these pocket pistols, and are .22 hollow points actually more lethal as a self-defense round? I recently stocked up on .22LR HP rounds for my Browning Buckmark (my thinking was that I may need to use it to hunt squirrels or iguanas in a SHTF scenario). Just wondering if I could carry them in a micro.
In a pistol, nearly any .22LR pistol with a shorter barrel, .22 hollow points are a waste, unless you already have them. Hollow point rounds won't never get to the velocity needed for the HP to expand in most pistols. Hollow points are really meant for use in longer barrels like rifles. Will your existing hollow point ammo work anyways ? Most likely, as HP tends to infer HV as well. That said, even in a Buck Mark, it's not likely that .22LR hollow points are actually fully expanding either.. Your best bet in these shorter configurations tends to be a) highly reliable .22LR ammo, like velocitors and mini-mags. b) where possible, 40 grain or heavier .22LR's. Most micro's NEED higher velocity ammo (HV) in order to cycle; many new .22LR pistols have a break-in period where high velocity ammo is needed for the gun to just cycle. If you are lucky, afterwards, standard velocity tends to cycle OK in some micros.. Your existing ammo will likely work; it's just that it won't be expanding like hollow points should.
Barrels shorter than 4 to 5 inches: Chances are any ammo won't ever reach high enough velocity to even hit the speed of sound, thus will function well with a suppressor ( quiet) .. The Beretta 21A, with it's short barrel, really excels because the velocity of the rounds is so low that it's really quiet. Suppressors also make smaller .22LR pistols cycle much better. I cannot overstate how well a suppressor works on a shorter barreled (less than 5 inch ) .22LR pistol; worth the money.. Your Browning Buck Mark is a far better gun than most micros.. FWIW. Better trigger. Likely more accurate. The micros are far lighter, and better for those carrying other things..

Donya, I have a Buckmark. Hollow points will not harm it in any way. The Buckmark works well with any .22 long rifle. Like all pistols, sometimes one partcular gun won't fire reliably with a partcular brand, you find out by trial and error, if you find a partcular brand it doesn't like, just get a different brand in the futue. You can go ahead and use up an unreliable brand, it won't do any harm other than being unreliable. My Buckmark works well with any brand, yours may also. Some brand are a lot dirtier. With clean firing ammo, cleaning once every 500 rounds works fine for me. Your gun may differ, but the Buckmark is a tolerant design. Dirty ammo can cause a need for much more frequent cleaning. You can't go wrong with CCI. If your on a budget, you can't go wrong with Federal. It's cheap, reliable, and clean. You can't beat it for the money. If you are looking for ammo for target shooting, you won't go wrong with CCI Standard Velocity, it shoots groups like target ammo without a target ammo price. You made a good choice with the Buckmark, imo it is one of the best .22 pistols ever made, yours will probably be working fine when your granchildren inherit it. Have fun -

Your review is just about a year or so early. Ruger with the LCPII 22 intro will create a much ignored market segment. Other manufacturers are probably working on their new micro 22’s right now. Size wise the Walther should not be in the mix.
Personally I think 22 is too unreliable for carry. Also just cause you're shooting someone doesn't mean they'll stop Doughnut Operator has many videos where crazed people get shot shot tons of times and they still fight back.
Shit some People say that 22lr sucks but it's better than nothing like could be worse and you could have a BB gun or nothing at all is what I tell those people 😂😂😂
The bobcat is useless for carry, it has no extractor so you pull the trigger and it does not go bang, you rack the slide and nothing happens, you have to tip up the barrel and pry the round out with your finger nail. No thanks lcp 2 does not have this issue. The Bobcat is a nice toy nothing more.
How much did Ruger pay you to "PUSH?" The EASIEST gun for a Stroke Victim, or an Elderly Person is BY FAR the Beretta... you can do it One Handed... QUIT selling and Start giving Sound advice...
I completely disagree! The slide spring is way too strong for someone who is weak and/or can’t get a good grip on the small slide. If a round has too little powder, it may not push the slide back, and the case may stay in the chamber and not eject, and since it has no extractor, racking the slide won’t remove it. The shell may have expanded and won’t simply pop out, you have to dig it out or poke it out through the barrel with a thin rod. I’d only recommend it for someone with enough strength and experience, if you’re determined to go with a micro .22. Many can be finicky: ammo that’s reliable in yours is a given.
he isn't selling anything; just giving his 2 cents worth. Take it or leave it. I happen to think a .22 is fine for personal defense and totally agree that placement is everything. Also apparently all the high caliber fan club isn't too concerned about the surroundings beyond the perp (in any case the ammo people love you). Having said this, one needs to always determine risk assessment in life. If you live in a gang neighborhood perhaps you need more umph....like you are in law enforcement or military.....also paying more attention to the number of rounds available to you (in whatever caliber make you comfortable in your risk assessment).

4.5 to 5.5 is the length that will keep hv 22lr subsonic unless you are shooting in cold
weather the 5.0 to 5.5 may go super with hi vel ammo.

Donya, I have a Buckmark. Hollow points will not harm it in any way. The Buckmark works well with any .22 long rifle. Like all pistols, sometimes one partcular gun won't fire reliably with a partcular brand, you find out by trial and error, if you find a partcular brand it doesn't like, just get a different brand in the futue. You can go ahead and use up an unreliable brand, it won't do any harm other than being unreliable. My Buckmark works well with any brand, yours may also.
Some brand are a lot dirtier. With clean firing ammo, cleaning once every 500 rounds works fine for me. Your gun may differ, but the Buckmark is a tolerant design. Dirty ammo can cause a need for much more frequent cleaning.
You can't go wrong with CCI. If your on a budget, you can't go wrong with Federal. It's cheap, reliable, and clean. You can't beat it for the money. If you are looking for ammo for target shooting, you won't go wrong with CCI Standard Velocity, it shoots groups like target ammo without a target ammo price.
You made a good choice with the Buckmark, imo it is one of the best .22 pistols ever made, yours will probably be working fine when your granchildren inherit it.

Your review is just about a year or so early. Ruger with the LCPII 22 intro will create a much ignored market segment. Other manufacturers are probably working on their new micro 22’s right now. Size wise the Walther should not be in the mix.
But why focus on .22 while the .25 is more reliable with comparable numbers ?

The bobcat is useless for carry, it has no extractor so you pull the trigger and it does not go bang, you rack the slide and nothing happens, you have to tip up the barrel and pry the round out with your finger nail. No thanks lcp 2 does not have this issue. The Bobcat is a nice toy nothing more.
It’s a DA/SA. You can pull the slide again without manipulating it. Any issues I’ve ever had with FTFire have been solved with another trigger pull.

I don't have any gun, but I don't think it's good that you can't fire the gun if you drop the magazine, let's say by error.
How much did Ruger pay you to "PUSH?" The EASIEST gun for a Stroke Victim, or an Elderly Person is BY FAR the Beretta... you can do it One Handed... QUIT selling and Start giving Sound advice...
I completely disagree! The slide spring is way too strong for someone who is weak and/or can’t get a good grip on the small slide. If a round has too little powder, it may not push the slide back, and the case may stay in the chamber and not eject, and since it has no extractor, racking the slide won’t remove it. The shell may have expanded and won’t simply pop out, you have to dig it out or poke it out through the barrel with a thin rod. I’d only recommend it for someone with enough strength and experience, if you’re determined to go with a micro .22. Many can be finicky: ammo that’s reliable in yours is a given.
he isn't selling anything; just giving his 2 cents worth. Take it or leave it. I happen to think a .22 is fine for personal defense and totally agree that placement is everything. Also apparently all the high caliber fan club isn't too concerned about the surroundings beyond the perp (in any case the ammo people love you). Having said this, one needs to always determine risk assessment in life. If you live in a gang neighborhood perhaps you need more umph....like you are in law enforcement or military.....also paying more attention to the number of rounds available to you (in whatever caliber make you comfortable in your risk assessment).

Also, I NEVER met ANYONE who enjoyed getting SHOT. With ANY caliber. If it's what you can handle or carry, the bad guys run from Boom and Light... they DON'T think to themselves... what caliber was that? 4 or 5 holes in you, reguardless of size, equals "I win", or get you "Away From Me..."
