I realize that MJF stays away from The Elite. Genius.
He did had 2 program with them (Bucks) but you right it a reason for that as well
And every single aew star as well they all go issues
On paper, MJF and Omega would be a big deal for the AEW crowd. But, they are the complete opposites in every conceivable way. I don't think they'll have much chemistry, be it on the mic or in the ring. Although, I guess Omega can have Callis speak for him most of the time. They'd probably have some good promo battles. I think the match would be way too much a clash of styles, though.
@@erikstorm8935 I'm honestly just completely over Omega now. His style worked in Japan where singles match appearances are limited for top guys so he can get away with doing mostly the same spots in every match or atleast going at that pace without it getting annoying. He has that current New Japan hybrid Kings Road style where singles matches need to go like 30+ minutes. That never works in the west. Omegas in ring psychology is all off since he's never really wrestled in the US long term before now.
He needs to either only work very limited dates or go for mostly tag and trios titles.
Omega is awful on the mic. He should just go ahead and come out if the closet. He might be more entertaining.

I always really appreciate these Booking 101 insights from someone who knows the craft so well.
Well he is wrong about the Undertaker being distracted from trying to win back the title because he wanted to get even with Kane. Their story was that taker refused to fight Kane and Percy Pringle kept having Kane attack others until the Undertaker finally agreed to fight him. Honestly didn’t make much sense that Undertaker all of a sudden cared about whether or not other people were getting hurt when you think about it.

Ricky Starks and Hobbs should have been the ones who fill this void against Mox. Too bad Starks was turned face and Hobbs is no where.

Starks seems way too small to take seriously as a main eventer. Yeah, he works out, but he still needs to bulk up more. Thankfully for him, most of the top AEW guys aren't big (even Mox isn't big). But, I can't realistically see him beating someone like Wardlow (or Miro if he ever returns). I say this as someone who really likes the guy, too.
I love Starks, he should be heel though.

Yes, I was stunned when I read the news. Great Wrestler and I followed his career though Pro Wrestling Illustrated, The Wrestler and Inside Wrestling even though I did not live in a Market where Championship Wrestling from Florida was shown.
Hopefully Mox was in contact with Bray and on hand to comfort him. That's at least something useful he could do for humanity.

Been wondering this for awhile with Aew why does it seem like a majority of the time the ex champion never cashes in his rematch clause?
Is there even a rematch clause in AEW? Their rules are never explained, not even for their title matches.

I like how they now have Danielson facing MJF after he was made to be a complete fool by Jericho, and had all his steam taken in that tournament (the one of 5000) too. And the guy who defended his championship successfully prior to Full Gear doesn't get a rematch.

CM Punk is the uncrowned AEW Champ until he is booked to lose-- stripping him of the title without explaining why before an explicitly stated injury forfeiture (Tony Khan just hasn't said shit about CM Punk, after he won the AEW title belt) Punk never got pinned or submitted for the title belt.
So legally, he could bring a replica of the belt he won (and never relinquished) to any major promotion. This was what the main worry was for the Monday Night Wars-- which of course escalated when the WWF Women's Championship was thrown in the trash and burned on WCW Nitro
Every other wrestler but Bryan would be considered buried by the fans lol. So Tony is lucky that he's Bryan F'N Danielson. And that the fans will look past all his losses (and his group's losses). But, Khan shouldn't take it for granted it'll always stay this way. If Bryan keeps getting buried the fans will stop caring. And really, some are already have!
The HiaC match where Kane interfered wasn't for the title tho. Bret already took the belt off of Taker at Summerslam that year. The first HiaC match was for the #1 contender spot. [/wrestling nerd trivia]
This sounds like a perfect plan for Hobbs
I agree that Ethan Page would have been the perfect choice for this story. I would have put them in 2 or 3 long distant matches, and I would have actually given the first or the first two wins to Ethan Page and the third to Moxley, just like Punk did with MJF. That would have redeemed Ethan as a good heel and Moxley's departure from the Championship.
I would be totally fine to never see Hangnail again. I didn't think he was terrible in certain spots up until after his matches with Bryan Danielson. I just roll my eyes whenever I see Adam Page and Moxley doing their same ole same ole routines.

Ricky is awesome, but way too small to be a main eventer right now. Needs to bulk up a lot more. I know most of the rest of the roster isn't exactly big, either. But, regardless of company, it's still hard to take him seriously as a top guy. Even if his competitors aren't much bigger than him.

Corny is spot on as usual, they could of had Sammy making a smart ass comment to Moxley in the build up to the MJf match and then doing it again afterwards, which sets off Moxley and then two are off to the races in a simple conflict that gives Moxley an out for the time being.
I kind of agree.... Sammy is an ideal young heel to follow in MJF's shoes, he has great promo skills and has a natural ability to wind the audience up. Sammy having heat with Moxley would be a smart move.

This is one program that deserved a quick death.
For that matter no one is exactly clamoring for him vs Adam Page in a program either because both talents are unlikeable and boring as they are currently being presented.
I personally think Mox needs to be full blown heel and become anti hardcore.
Only through reminding people of the kind of matches he was once capable of as WWE champion can he rehab his image with casual fans.

Also the hell in the cell 1 let the Undertaker get revenge on HBK for attacking him throughout the months and running by exacting a lot of punishment on HBK, which he sold well, allowing Taker to move on. Until the following royal rumble, at least.
Shawn wasn't the wwf champion when they faced at hell in the cell. A lot of people forget that because they see the European title on Shawn.
If you're going to build a new heel via Mox, you want someone who can go back and forth in terms of win/loss. Most of their higher up heels you don't want to see lose right now (Hobbs, Joe, Lethal, Miro when he returns), and most of the rest are too far underneath still. The only two guys you could put there would be Ethan Page or Malakai Black.
Black would be perfect. Page is apparently having a mini program with Page and Stokely

I've always thought Hangman was more boring than watching paint dry. But the Elite marks go crazy for him. They think he is the best guy in the company next to Omega.
And it is so bizarre to me. He can wrestle okay I guess, but he has negative charisma. Everytime his music plays the crowd goes nuts and I've never been able to grasp why.

You guys aren’t tired yet of seeing him do the same gimmick, with the weird shoulder roll when he walks, and the snot that’s apparently always in his nose. To me, he’s a great worker when he goes, but a lot of it just looks silly and takes me out of it.
I think he's fine, I just dont get the death matches, though. That stuff is so 1990's. I grew up on that shit, watching tapes of ECW & Japan (FMW, Big Japan, IWA Japan, etc). I didnt watch CZW in the 00's, though. So, all the stuff done today has been done before. So whats the point, really? People could argue by saying "what about lucha or big man matches?". Those matches are based on wrestling. Hardcore death matches aren't, besides a few moves here and there. Also, hardcore matches are like crash TV...its cool at first but loses it's aura!
@@erikstorm8935 Same here, though I kept my deathmatch exposure just to FMW before they fell in the shitter. The others relied too much on just going for the ultra violence out of the gate, at least under Onita the ones in FMW still attempted to maintain some level of psychology and drama. Guys today like Moxley are wannabes of a style of wrestling that only worked to great effect in a singular bygone era that can't be repeated nor should it. But he also fancies himself a crazy brawler and unhinged... I'd love to see what someone like Bruiser Brody would do to him in a match if he tried to get sideways with that bullshit.
@@robintst i think that applies to alot of guys today, them being wannabes. I’ve been watching alot of Tiger Mask matches recently and you can see guys today want to be athletic and fast paced but cannot put together a coherent match, there is no psychology, there are no transitions inbetween moves where one move leads to the next. Like spike pile driver off the top rope, roll out of the ring stand there with your friends while i go back to the top rope, you all catch me crowd chants holy shit and we all get back in the ring like nothing ever happened and do the next spot. Like this is wrestling now

I didn't know the backstory of Kane's debut.
Either A) They had no planning beyond MJF beating Mox OR B) They planned THIS which shows we are blinded by Hangman Page and cant accept a full year after he won title the CASUAL fan is still apathetic
The easy answer would be pair Moxley with Eddie Kingston and make them a permanent fixture in the Tag-Team Division. Thanks to injuries and their Trios Division, their once great Tag-Team Division has become woefully anemic. Breaking up the Jurassic Express and Team Taz was a piss poor idea.
Adam Page has less charisma than George Gulas.
I think the guy that you can move up the card to be the heel for moxley would be maybe a guy like swerve. Swerve is a great heel that could be even better if he screws over John moxley.

Man I just feel sad for what dean has become. I used to love dean ambrose. He was a funny, chill, unpredictable, charismatic, smart character. Now as Moxley he looks drunk, angry, unhygienic, overweight with terrible wrestling. Still to this day I watch old Dean ambrose's promos in wwe because they were that damn good.
IMO, the best character type for Jon Moxley is being a “lone wolf.” The man “struggling with being a team player” is not as appealing to the audience as the solitary badass who does what he pleases.
