Having just learned to crochet, I find your use of abbreviations helpful with my trying to understand written patterns. Others are far too sensitive about the music. This is a lovely square and I am going to have to give it a try. Thanks for taking the time to share this tutorial.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I think this square is so pretty and your instructions were very thorough. I know that the music is yarnspirations inspired but if they could have just turned it down a but because it can be distracting. Keep up the good work and thanks again!
You would think that by now, Yarnspiration would have re-done this video based on the feedback given: no background music, not using abbreviations as directions, etc. BIG kudos to the person who found the link to the written pattern, something of which should have been done in the description area to begin with.
i discovered through my travels that this particular square is called the Willow Square. i found out this information from several sources.. just FYI ... lovely square. i made it and learned it from this tutorial.. so very pretty .. thank you :)
Some of your comments are cruel. I didn't find the music at all distracting. I think using abbreviations like sc and dc is fine. Didn't bother me at all. Closed captioning is there for a reason. I always watch tutorial videos with the sound AND closed captioning. It makes the videos much easier to understand and much quicker to complete, at least for me. I, for one, appreciate the time and effort it takes for someone to make a tutorial.
First video that I’ve followed and actually was able to finish the entire thing!! Loved the tutorial and the music didn’t bother me one bit! Thank you so much!!!
really love yer square it's exactly what I was looking 4!!!!! gotta say use 2 reading the abbreviations but having them said takes a bit of getting use 2....
Thank You! For making that so easy to follow. I started with another video but couldn’t follow at all. I can see a couple of bad stitches in mine so I won’t embarrase myself by posting it. 😬
Thank you for this tutorial. It was very easy to follow and I made a beautiful flower square. I can't understand why people who aware watching a free and helpful tutorial would comment in such critical ways.
The point is that the music is too loud relative to the verbal instructions. In addition, I personally found the music to be quite annoying and repetitive. '
I have made this and once you have made one it so easy. Also being visually impaired I do an extra stitch in the final round I do a back loop trbl around the post between the dc. It actually gives a beautiful effect. thank you
+Holly W Wasn't she great teaching this? She made it clear, easy to do and thoughtful. These people here are so rude and ill mannered! Your younger than most of them and know how to be polite!
+Lemon Squishy yes I really was pleased with the tutorial and didn't have an issue personally with the abbreviations. I love this square so I'm more than happy to have found this tutorial ☺️👍🏼
I love the pattern the first time I saw it. I was not able to follow thru as I can hardly hear the instructions on the video. Today, I read Mikey's (of Crochet crowd) post regarding the removal of the video and I got back to this video. Now I got the whole tutorial. I can hear that teeny weeny music but it never bothers me at all. Thanks sooooo much.
Wow, the comments are crazy! I could hear her fine, and I hope to make this. Just need to get the written pattern to help out. I could understand her fine too. Love this so much!
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but at approx. 25:02 she says to chain 3, 2dc, chain -3, 2dc in the corner. That second 2dc should be 3dc. She says it again at approx. 25:16. May want to put a notation on the screen. Loved the pattern!
I liked your Video but I am sorry to say the music is louder than your voice. I had a hard time hearing you. What kind of yarn did you use and what hook did you use. Thanks
Thank you! I used bulky yarn and an 8mm hooks and got a beautiful 11-inch square! This would make an epic, beautiful, fluffy blanket! Thanks for sharing :D
I spent a really long time looking through the Yarnspirations patterns to no avail. I found the pattern by googling Yarnspiration flower square. This is the link www.yarnspirations.com/kal-cal-crochet-clue2?#C Hope this helps others as I know I wasted a lot of time looking enjoy!
The tutorial is confusing, hard to hear and I'm sorry but the use of abbreviations like sc and dc are irritating and unnecessary and only add to the confusion. I suggest you watch videos by Bella Coco, HappyBerry Crochet and Little Monkeys Crochet to help you learn.
Louwise Mans the speaking of the abbreviations was driving me nuts too, I’m not used to referring to the stitches by their abbreviations. Even when I read a pattern I read it as single crochet, double crochet, etc.
Thanks for the video. As for me I had fun. I ignored the music.I wanted the "Free" pattern intsturction. And your video helped me finish my block n I made it my own. Yes I made it in white, pink, green, n I finished in white . And in old fashion granny square. again Thank u. Please ignor all the mean negative comments. People forget they can pause n rewind. And its Free
how much yarn do you need to make a good sized blanket using this pattern as I have 3 balls of papaya and 3 of mint would that be enough I also have a light yellow royal blue spring green and some white would those go well for the center of the willow I was thinking of using the mint green for the willow any help would be great!
In round 7 you start off with a CH3, 2DC and CH3 then 2DC in the first corner. I'm wondering if that's a mistake because all the other corners have 3DC, CH3, 3DC. Could you let me know if this is a mistake because im in the process of making this right now and I don't want to be off by one ST. Thank you. Also isn't there a written pattern for this??? I just re-watched what you did closely and you say 2DC but I watched you do 3DC.VERY CONFUSING!!! Otherwise I love this pattern. Wish I could find a written pattern though.
Don’t know if anyone else already pointed this out but I listened to the beginning ROUND 7 instructions at least 5 times to be sure that I was hearing correctly. Anyway RND 7 starts with a ch3 (counts as 1st dc) then she states that you should work (2dc, ch3, 2dc) which actually doesn’t add up as she has now worked that corner with a (3dc, ch3, 2dc) but in the other 3 corners she worked (3dc, ch3, 3dc) which is correct however if someone doesn’t realize that there’s an error until they finish the round they probably aren’t going to be very happy that they now have to frog the entire last round....
I absolutely love your videos and you make them so so easy to understand, I hope this doesnt sound rude and if so please accept my apologies as it's not meant that way, but could you possibly say " double crochet" or "single crochet" instead.of "DC or SC" as I find it puts me off, i feel rude asking this, its probably just me, again apologies if this appears rude ❤
It would be great if you could include the stitch counts per row as Row 3 is quite confusing when you get to the last 2 chain spaces, I can't work out if it's DC 2 in the Chan Space, skip the next DC (the post) then another DC 2 in the last or DC2 in the chain 1 space, DC in to the single DC (the post) then another 2 DC in the last Chain 2 space before Slip knotting the round. There is no written pattern for us to follow. Is there a written pattern for this, it's not showing on the Yarspirations website...? Regards, Craig (Australia)
Great instruction detail. So many have poor details. Thank you. I do, however, wish this was available in written form as well so I didnt have sit throught the whole thing and write it out myself. I have looked up all the other written patterns for this square and I dont like them. Each one is slightly different and leaves some important detail out. Once again though, thank you. This video is great.
On the round six instead of slipping to the top of middle of petal I chained 8 then when I ended the round I just slipped stitched in to the 3rd chain of the chain 8 at beginning of round.
It would’ve been nice, as more of a novice crocheter, to be told how many spaces or double crochets you end each round with. I got all the way to the “corners” thinking I was doing fine because I thought I was following directions, then realized I didn’t have enough.
Is there a written pattern available for this square.. I'm wanting to adapt it to an afghan but I can't carry the laptop everywhere I go to work on it when not at home. I've searched Yarnspirations but the link here only takes you to the current (just finished) CAL, which is more than a little frustrating as the link is not relevant to this post.
This is a beautiful pattern, but I struggled with hearing the instructions during the video. I had to turn my speakers all the way up and then the background music was too loud.
The flower square is beautiful. However your instructions in abbreviations is horrid and what's with that annoying background jarring music. A waste of time. The flower curls up.
Please shut off that annoying awful music!!! The instructor needs to use full words instead of abbreviations, and speak up. Better yet please have Mikey remake this entire tutorial. Love the square pattern. but please have Mikey remake this so we can hear and understand this better. Thank You
On round 7 I slipped stitched in to the chain 5 and chained 3 then 4 DC. Then in the corner you said 2dc ch3 2 DC but you put 3 DC ch 3 3dc in your corner.
hi there, thankyou for the tutorial. i just want to highlight a mistake u made in the second last round. the first corner u tell us to chain three then double crochet twice, chain three and double crochet twice. that second double crochet u should say dc x 3. u dont three dc but u say 2dc. just thought u would like to know
+Chele Golding There's a book called 200 Crochet Blocks. It's probably at the library where you live. No music only pictures and very easy to follow. Stop being a mean person! Your channel hasn't got anything worth watching to me and since you are being arrogant and ungrateful I thought I'd tell you that.
Thank you for this awesome tutorial! I love this beautiful square, and your explanation was very clear and easy. BUT that music is very distracting and annoying.
it's a lovely pattern and i appreciate your showing us how to do it. I would say, though, that while it is helpful for some that you refer to the stitches as dc's and sc's, it isn't how people, at least all the people that I know and the tutorials I've seen elsewhere, refer to the stitches. After the first few times, it is really grating. It isn't conversational and if we were sitting in front of you, i'd bet you wouldn't call them dc's and sc's..... my two cents worth.
This has got to be one of the most difficult video to follow. Not sure what the problem is but the stitches are way off. In your video your project looks much larger then mine. For starting out with 16 sts it looks a whole lot bigger. Also at the end I fall short of several stitches in order to complele the 4 6 ch sts. I believe its row 5. I only gave 3 of those loops and then I run out of stitches. What the hecknis going on with this,. Also as far as finding the pattern for thi particular square forget it. Some one here posted a link, I followed that link, and it is a completely different square, that I could see. THE MUSIC WAS VERY DISTRACTING AND BORING OVER AND OVER AND OVER. THIS IS ALL REALLY SAD BECAUSE THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL SQUARE, SO SAD I WILL HAVE TO FIND THEBPATTERN SOMEWHEREVELSE. YOU COULD TRY DOING A REMAKE AND PLS SPEAK LOUDER AND LEAVE THE MUSIC OUT. TY
+bev692 I am so glad it wasn't just me :P I don't know how many times I have tried to do this and always fall short for the corners :( it would help if she laid it down flat at the end of each row so you could pause it and double check what you have done :( I love this pattern and am so disappointed :(
+Mary Mcdonagh Make your own video tutorial. The word is thanks for taking time out to teach me something. Ignorant person and no manners troll. Maybe as an after thought suggest something not tell somebody what to do like some ignorant trash. I fell bad for someone like you, old and crabby and making everyone else unable to enjoy things because you feel bad. I have many things wrong with me physically and don't behave as bad as you!
I agree with Carolyn below - the music is unnecessary and distracting. When learning something new, all one's attention is focused on essentials, so the music is exactly what one doesn't need. Sorry, Yarnspirations, but this has put me off wanting to look at any other videos you post.
I saw the negative comments. And wtf? I followed the tutorial easily, your use if abbreviations was fine and I didn't even notice your fingernails until reading a comment which, by the way are fine! The music wasn't too loud and other than jumping a bit ahead at times this is a good tutorial
Having just learned to crochet, I find your use of abbreviations helpful with my trying to understand written patterns. Others are far too sensitive about the music. This is a lovely square and I am going to have to give it a try. Thanks for taking the time to share this tutorial.
The music is really annoying - trying to concentrate on what the person is saying is made difficult!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I think this square is so pretty and your instructions were very thorough. I know that the music is yarnspirations inspired but if they could have just turned it down a but because it can be distracting. Keep up the good work and thanks again!
maybe one more suggestion- if the camera could be possibly closer to your hands that would help alot. Thanks again!
You would think that by now, Yarnspiration would have re-done this video based on the feedback given: no background music, not using abbreviations as directions, etc. BIG kudos to the person who found the link to the written pattern, something of which should have been done in the description area to begin with.

Lovely granny square, but the background music was very distracting
i discovered through my travels that this particular square is called the Willow Square. i found out this information from several sources.. just FYI ... lovely square. i made it and learned it from this tutorial.. so very pretty .. thank you :)
this freaking music is driving menuts. Can't hear her talk, she is talking so low compared to the music.

Is there a written pattern for this beautiful square 😊?
really love yer square it's exactly what I was looking 4!!!!! gotta say use 2 reading the abbreviations but having them said takes a bit of getting use 2....
I enjoyed it thoroughly! Your instructions are clear. Thank you so much.
Thank You ... I had no trouble at all following your video. I am very proud of how my squares turned out thank you again.
Thanks so much!! Great job... I really appreciate your work and loved to make my square 🙏
Thank You! For making that so easy to follow. I started with another video but couldn’t follow at all. I can see a couple of bad stitches in mine so I won’t embarrase myself by posting it. 😬

Wow, the comments are crazy! I could hear her fine, and I hope to make this. Just need to get the written pattern to help out. I could understand her fine too. Love this so much!
Great tutorial! Easy to follow. LOVED the music! Thank you!

Nice video. Music may be a little distracting, but did NOT drown out the lady speaking. Love the pretty square.
I liked your Video but I am sorry to say the music is louder than your voice. I had a hard time hearing you. What kind of yarn did you use and what hook did you use. Thanks
I agree :-(
I so agree!
Carolyn Baesler , as far as i seen her video tutorials she is using a size H hook , and prob 4 mm yarn by Red heart
Carolyn Baesler ,You right baby the music so loud so I didn’t, I got it on and I turned it off and go somewhere else,
Loved the crocheting but couldn't watch it to the end, the background music was so annoying, I wish if you could repeat the video without any music.
The tutorial is great but the music is very very annoying
yes it is!
Speak louder and turn off the music!
Thanks for this pattern. It's lovely! Your pace was perfect for me. You did say 2DC for round 7 but you crocheted 3DC. It was obvious what you meant.
I am a lefty and i managed to push through it, but i did think the music and abbreviations were distracting and confusing.
Thank you! I used bulky yarn and an 8mm hooks and got a beautiful 11-inch square! This would make an epic, beautiful, fluffy blanket! Thanks for sharing :D
I used some lovely mixed chunky yarn and got a 9" square 🥰 had to redo 4th round a few times as I kept getting it wrong but I got there 😂
The music needs to be muted,,, please!!!
loved the square its very pretty
this looks like a beautiful square, but the music is the worst!!
use a magic circle, didn't hear what size hook because of the music;(
y oh y do people think one needs music. it's such a distraction especially for beginners;(
search YT for other videos on this pattern that do not have music!
I spent a really long time looking through the Yarnspirations patterns to no avail. I found the pattern by googling Yarnspiration flower square.
This is the link

Thank you very much! You worked harder than I did! Kudo's to you!
Thank you so much for the link =)
Sam Wilson thanks so much!

AHHH THE MUSIC!! I CANT FOCUS! 😫
I’m able to tune out the music, as well. I was able to follow along. I especially like the part where you demonstrate how to close the loop. ❤️
nice pattern...thanks...would make a lovely table runner or bed spread....wow!
Wow
I made one very easy tutorial. Thank you
Just made this... Nice pattern... Thank you
would have enjoyed this much more without the music. I found it really annoying.
Thanks for the video. As for me I had fun. I ignored the music.I wanted the "Free" pattern intsturction. And your video helped me finish my block n I made it my own. I caught that too. I wondered why there would be 3DC, CH3 then 2 DC but I saw her do 3DC when I backed up and looked again
so in the first one is 3 dc ch3 3 dc?
Round 7 starts with ch3, 2 dc, ch3, 3dc.
I noticed the same thing.
Beautiful pattern. However, the instructions suffers due to the abbreviations.
On round six I started out with chain 8 then ended with slip stitch in chain 3 of the chain 8. It turned out good.
Please correct me if I'm wronge but isn't this the Willow Stich from 200 Crochet Blocks by Jan Eaton?
Don’t know if anyone else already pointed this out but I listened to the beginning ROUND 7 instructions at least 5 times to be sure that I was hearing correctly. thank you for sharing am already start mine and now am looking how to joint it
I loved!!!
Great video, thanks! Very useful!
But the sound track is awful, annoying, and almost made me to give up watching.
Can't learn this because of the annoying music, sorry, hope you will redo it, because you are a great teacher...thanks
I can't hear what she is saying over the music, being hard of hearing, it's too distracting.
The music is so bad I can't hear what she is saying!
great, thank you !!
Can you tell me where im going wrong???....i'm following the vid, step by step, only my work is turning out smaller, not sure why?
does anyone have a written version of this. I lost mine and I am on a road trip and would very much like to work on my blanket
Music made this awesome tutorial dreadful to get through, esp because her voice was same level as music :p !
I so agree I am glad I am not the only one that could hardly hear what she was saying
Great tutorial, Thank You :)
Are there any other square designs that matches this in size to make a shawl/blanket?
On the round six instead of slipping to the top of middle of petal I chained 8 then when I ended the round I just slipped stitched in to the 3rd chain of the chain 8 at beginning of round.
Very clear and precise tutorial but NO MUSIC please. Thank you
It would’ve been nice, as more of a novice crocheter, to be told how many spaces or double crochets you end each round with. I got all the way to the “corners” thinking I was doing fine because I thought I was following directions, then realized I didn’t have enough.
Me too. I don’t have enough room to finish round 4
could you pls show us how to join them thanks
background music is repetitiously annoying.,.. instruction excellent thank you!
Really nice video.. ty. :)
I Adore this pattern, however the type yarn was not mention, or hook size, could you let me know, so I can follow along and create one.. Thankyou
mannn the music messes up part of her instructions...Rnd3 I guess its 2DC into first in ch1 sp then 2DC in ch1 sp then alternate?
what size hook did she say?
Is this the Willow Square?
Is there a written pattern available for this square.. I'm wanting to adapt it to an afghan but I can't carry the laptop everywhere I go to work on it when not at home. I've searched Yarnspirations but the link here only takes you to the current (just finished) CAL, which is more than a little frustrating as the link is not relevant to this post.
I have been searching as well for written, I guess I am going to have to write it now that my crochet ladies want to make this pattern.
Jennifer D'Cunha if it curls you did it incorrectly the increases into the ch 1 spaces allow the circle to grow into a proper round
Hi can you make the above but half square please
Its hard to hear when the music is so loud. I really would like to make this.
hi there, thankyou for the tutorial. i just want to highlight a mistake u made in the second last round. the first corner u tell us to chain three then double crochet twice, chain three and double crochet twice. that second double crochet u should say dc x 3. u dont three dc but u say 2dc. just thought u would like to know
cant hear whats being said as the music is to loud tryed a few times to make this but now i give up feeling annoyed

simplejoys4 ..Wouldn't it be nice if these folks would credit who created or where they got the pattern?
It looks like it is. She may have tweeked it though. I know I've changed it up a bit in a few places. Looks the same however.
I loved the beautiful granny square, and the music helped me focus, just speak a little louder for your next video.

I can't hear you just the 'music' moving onto another tutorial sorry :(
get a microphone and talk into it and turn off that music its a distraction

Instructions were hard to hear over the music. Clearly this a crochet tutorial. Music was unnecessary.
i followed along and somehow when i get to starting the corners on round 4, i cant make 4 corners fit. this is my third time trying :(
Yikes, I agree this is not a good video. Hard to hear, hard to see with the faint yellow yarn and the far away and angled camera placement
+Katie Townley OMG. Just take your poison and go somewhere else you dont even teach or offer the world anything. Garlic bread. Big deal.
Could hardly hear you, don't need the music or talk louder
