FAQs??
-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.

love it, thank you Sarah, wish I had looked before I had crocheted about a dozen first though!
Ohhh my goodness this helped so much. I'd consider myself an intermediate level in crochet, but lat night I was making hexagons for the first time, and mine kept waving up, and the blocking wasn't helping much. I kept double checking I was doing enough stitches and couldn't figure out my issue. I didn't think to chain one between clusters!!! Thank you so much! Your tutorials taught me to crochet a year ago, and they're still teaching me new things today😅
You are very welcome :)

Very nice. Thank you so much.
I've just started crocheting and have followed this tutorial - thanks so much. When I come to join them up I will watch it again as I found that part a little bit confusing. Did I miss something or do you not include any chain stitches in between clusters when you are doing the joining to another hexagon. You have been a God-send to me as I find the pause in between so helpful.
I really learnt from this video..thank you so much darling for this amazing video❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Glad it was helpful :)
Love this one
Love your tutorials and go back to them often. I am wondering how many hexagons you need to make a blanket? How do you figure that out?
Could you please show the finished blanket especially the edges. Thank you. Its lovely
Clear and easy to follow thanks

Bella Coco you are the best
love your tutorial would love if you could do granny hex doll thankyou x
This is what I get for being impatient and not watching till the end of the video 😂 currently on my 41st hexagon and have been crocheting each one individually then crocheting all the seams together afterwards😭😭😭 I've ended up bubbly along my seams and I think imma just end up blocking it rather than unpick and start over xD lesson learned😂😂😂
Thank you
Hello Thank you for the video I crocheted the whole blanket with out putting the half hexagons in as I went Am I able to still add in the half hexagons.
Tracey Adams yes you can still add them x
Is there a particular book of patterns for hexagon crochet that you use?
I found a pattern for a xmas stocking in Woman's weekly knitting and crochet magazine (dec 2014 issue),which uses hexagon granny squares and i am really struggling to read the pattern! But your video makes it look so easy! But the one i found seems to double crochet a border, which is what is confusing me as my hexagon is all curly! 😒
Thank you very much!
You're welcome :)
Do you have videos crocheting miniatures for 1/12 scale? I'm trying to learn crocheting and making dollhouse items . Thank you
Just a question, do you have to join as you are going or can you join hexagons with different boarders??
Love the tutorial!!
Alanya Slater You don't have to do the join as you go method x
Sarah-Jayne, I thought I had seen a note somewhere that the written instructions for this pattern was available to buy on Ravelry. Is it not? I love this design, and I want to print and share a copy of the written instructions for a non-computer-literate friend who crochets. Thanks, Phyllis

Very good tuturiol, easy to fellow
Thank you :)
Hi Sarah-Jayne. Love the new video. Thank you. I have a question about yarn. I noticed you use Stylecraft Special DK. Do you use it because you truly love the yarn? The reason I ask is because I am having a hard time finding yarn that I love and I thought I'd buy some Stylecraft Special DK to try out (because you seen to love it and there are so many colors). Since I am a beginner crocheter, I wonder if you would recommend this yarn for a beginner. Also, is it very soft? I have found that I don't like working with very soft yarn. And finally, are some yarns for knitting only and others for both knitting and crocheting? Thanks!!
christine james Hello, Yes, I just love stylecraft Special Dk mainly because of the colours and its very inexpensive. I wouldn't exactly describe it as very soft. I would recommend it for beginners. Yarn makes no difference whether you are knitting with it of crocheting x
Hola Bella Coco. I like to know if you have a Star pattern and turne it in to granny squarer, for a baby blanket. Also I have the pattern for the Pentagon start squarer. Can I put together the Pentagon Pattern like the hexagon?
Sarah Jane is it best to stitch the pieces together in the order you have in this video? Or can you put them in rows or doesn't it work that way? (Geometry isn't my best suit!). Love listening to your voice as I try to keep up and I LOVE the way you pronounce 'cluster' 👍🏻
I do mine in rows, as long as you line them up properly, you can work them in any way!
hey bella, im using this pattern to make a blanket for a friend for christmas, but ive run into this weird setback.
ive gotten to the fifth row of hexigons but now I have one sitting wrong. so when I look at the pattern all the hexigons form rows in a diagonal pattern which is consistant throughout the blanket. BUT, I have this one spot where two of them sit in straight on top.of each other. pulled the offending hex out. then I was left with this weird gap. then I counted how many I had in each row from one edge to the other and found they have the right amount of hex's and in each row from side to side, including row 5 that has the weird gap. I cant figure out how to fix it or even what I did to cause it.
any thoughts?
never mind. I figured it out. there was one hex that I made wrong. on the first round I made 7 trebled ingress of six. I must have been exhausted at the time, bit I figured it out and fixed it!
How many Hexes make up a typical blanket? I like to have a number to work towards lol
I love this.. I made some but is there a tip to making them flat???
I'm glad you like it 😊 Make sure you're working all of your chain spaces correctly - if you skip them or don't chain the correct amount then it can cause your hexagon to curl. Blocking also works wonders at getting crochet to lay flat; just stretch it and pin it out for a while.
How many yarn i need for make a baby blancket about 1m x 1,50m ?
oh wonderful!!! i decfinely try this sometime for christmas xD
+nekofiercewarrior20 :) x
I am new to crocheting and LOVE this tutorial. I have made several of the hexagons but they seem to curl up. What am I doing wrong?
lisa supanich lisasupanich66 perhaps its your tension? x
Thank you for this pattern. I comming back.
You're very welcome 🙂
I have the first granny making.
Hi just learned how to do this hexagon tutorial, found it very easy but I was wondering how do you do a border, to make straight edges x
Joy Smith do you mean to make it into a square?
Hi, yes , sorry I didn't make it very clear.
How do I do a cushion cover
How many hexagons do you make to make a blanket
I'm thinking of doing extra large hexagons and adding a fourth row/round. How would I go about doing that? Would I use the same pattern as the third row or would I want to add more stitches and treble crochets?
You would work the corners as usual and end up with an additional section on the sides. Following the same principle really that you have been doing x
Bella Coco okay thank you for the help! I just started crocheting again after 7+ years so I'm relearning everything. I'm loving your channel! :) It's been so helpful.
Im Am Just Starting.
I like your way
Thank you :)
is the written instructions here?
Hi is it possible to complete a blanket in one continuos hexagon with this pattern?
kissymo I don't see why not! :) x
Butiful
Approximately how many of these squares does it require to make a baby blanket? I swore I would never make a blanket like this because of all the effort but you made it look as easy as anything else I make ;)
Jenn Sterling it is completely up to you! I usually do 5 x 5 but you can just keep building until you are happy with the size x
Thank you VERY much for replying :)
I am new to crocheting and I love your video and am working on this now for my mother in law. What I would like to know is do you also have a tutorial for the half hexagon to go with this? Also do you have to join it as you work?
Thank you.
Terisa Gill Hopefully you have seen my latest video x
Bella Coco Some how I seemed to have missed that, but I see it now. Thank you Bella.
The simple geometry is grounding, I have a lot to learn about repetition.
Is this the way you would make a hexagon cardigan?
I believe they do use hexagons like this but you would need to find a proper pattern to follow to be sure 😊
Hey, question. I made an afghan using this pattern as a gift for a friend...but this morning he noticed that 4 of the very centers of the hexagons disappeared. Just totally vanished. There's no sign of any cut marks, cant find the the yarn if it unraveled. have you ever seen that before and if so how would you go about making sure that doesn't happen with the other ones?
That is the weirdest thing does your friend have a dog??? Or any other animals???Or does your friend have a problem with moths???
+Sophia Pinkey no dogs or any other animals, and the afghan is 100% acrylic yarns.
how to make straight edgs without half hexagon
Hi there can you make a never ending one instead of lots and joining please
Sarah Barton hi, yes you could do a never ending one x
I can not find you on facebook the link gave me an error :(
IM SUCH AN MLG GRANNY
Catherine Bernardo from Malaysia..tq.
🏆🏆🏆🌹🌹🌹
are these supposed to lie flat? mine isnt.
+Kalynn Gill Perhaps your tension is a little tight? Usually they straighten out once joined though x
👍👍✌️✌️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Luvs (Ten)
Why is my granny hexagon folding up
I would double check that you are using the correct hook size for your yarn 😊 You may also need to block your hexagons once you have finished them by stretching them out and pinning them into shape.
I'm trying to make a hexagon but it just keeps turning into a star.
You can see the written instructions with some helpful pictures for this pattern here: www.sarahjaynefragola.com/2015/04/hexagon-granny-pattern.html to double check that you're working the hexagon correctly. You should find that the hexagon begins to look more defined as you add more rounds 😊
@@bellacococrochet thanks, it just seems to pull in where the single cluster is. I'll have to give it another go another time because I frogged it and I'm making something else with the yarn.
