thank you. I find your tutorials very easy to follow. I make baby bonnets, booties and blankets for babies here in Auckland going into awful accommodation - victims of our housing crisis and crocheted blankets are the fastest
Not paying attention, I did US treble crochet, so got a much more open weave appropriate for a summer scarf in FL! Thank you..this is the easiest chevron pattern I've seen in 3 1/2 years of trying!
Ive made this blanket 4 times for babies in my family. Everyone loves it. My cousins have gotten so excited when they open the box. Your instructions are great. I love that you dont work so fast that I can't see what your doing or keep up. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your easy to follow instructions. Thanks to you I made a baby blanket with the waffle stitch and a queen size blanket using the solid granny stitch. Now I am going to try this as a throw.
i learn your granny stripes, granny square for beginners, the shell stitches....... and I want to learn this one too...your video is nice and easy to follow ...keep up the good work.....god bless us!
Ill be honest ive tried watching several tutorials on how to make this style and you are the only person who makes sense to me! Love your vids, keep them coming! Cheers from Canada :D
Rebekah Hill, I agree, in the other videos the crocheter goes so quickly, especially at the ends, and then they cover the work with their hands and you can't see what they've done.
Always been a knitter. But have wanted to learn how to crochet for years. Your videos are so easy to follow. I think I can learn to crochet in no time.
Thank you bella. I learned less than a week ago and didn't think I would do a blanket for several more months but I have two lines finished already. Your videos are super easy please keep posting. Or if you have blogs or anything like that please tell me where I can look. Thank you.
Hi had to watch video a few times and also looked at the written instructions and finally got the hang of it. Thanks. I will have a go at the shell style next :-)
Your videos are what re-taught me how to crochet again. You explain everything brilliantly and slowly and the videos are so clear. So thank you for that. It is perfect with the lock down at the moment. ❤
Thank you so much! So easy to follow, for whatever reason I always have trouble with chevrons and you make it me proof 😆 Can’t wait to get my baby’s blanket made with this gorgeous pattern
Thankyou for this, I'm a crochet teacher and always looking for different projects. I would suggest a reverse double crochet for an edging, for a pillow, maybe do two pieces the same, dc them together on three sides, then reverse dc, and attach some buttons on the open edge. What do you think?
Hello! Does the rule of 18 + 6 chain guarantee that it will always end on a peak? When I tried doing it sometimes it ended on a peak and other times it didn't and it made it all wonky. I was just wondering if I was doing it wrong and if it indeed will end on a peak with the 18 + 6 method.
I'm loving how clear your instructions are. I've tried twice to start this but when I'm doing the first row, where I'm putting the clusters into my foundation chain, the chains end up being huge and look like big holes. Do you have any advice to prevent this please?
Thank you, I'm glad you find them helpful 😊 If you take a look at your chain stitches you will see that each chain has a little bump on the back - if you insert your hook underneath this bump (you will have the bump at the top of your hook, and two loops on the bottom) and work into the chain this way, it stops them stretching so much.
Love your videos. My multiple meant that I ended on a dip. I changed colour but I'm not sure what to do there to start the next row after ending on a dip.
Thanks for your videos, I have taught myself to crochet whilst travelling using your channel! Please can you do a video for a single crochet chevron blanket or do you know of a good tutorial as I can't seem to find one I understand as well as yours! X
Love this stitch, an easy tutorial to follow however I found I am increasing at each end ie the blabket is getting wider. Can you please confirm, at the end if each row I do 2 x 3 trbl crochet with 3 chain between, then chain 5, turn my work and commence next row with 3 trbl crochet working down to the trough?
Thank you! 😊 If you pop over to my blog you'll find the written instructions for this along with clear diagrams: blog.bellacococrochet.com/granny-ripple-blanket/
Hey Bella Coco, I am a beginner here. I am just wondering, how many basic chain stiches i would need to make an adult afghan quilt using this granny ripple stich. thanks in advance :)
Well for adult blankets I've made I chain a random amount usually around 350-400 and I wrap the chain around myself and imagine that I've already crocheted the blanket and once you have a big enough chain ad a couple of chains of you need to so it works with the pattern. Hope this helps!
How do I "end" the blanket? I have finished my afghan and I'm on the last row but unsure on the best way to tie it off? This is the first thing I've ever crocheted so I have no experience. The tutorial was very clear and the best one I've found :) thank you
perfect video. it's only the ends that confuse me but i know they will get easier with practice. how would you finish the edges or are they pretty much finished when the blanket is? thank you for another technique!
Again, another awesome tutorial. Thank you much for putting these up for us. I have a pattern for an owl cocoon-a thing to put a baby in...I was wondering if you could help me with that??
Begging for your written instructions to reappear Love the tutorials loved to having it in writing too started a pattern long ago hadn't had time to work on in a while trying to finish up now miss the written instructions I have since lost :(
crochet two single crochet into each double crochet "gap" and chain three "gap". That would create a very nice base for the border. You could even do three single crochet into each gap. Hope that helps! :)
Great tutorial! Only had to watch it once, it is so clear, and I am dutch so using different stitch terms but still understand it because you point evert detail out very clearly. 1 question tho, I want to make a pillow out of it so I would like to straighten out the edges when I'm done, do you have any tips or patterns I could use to create the straight edge?
Hi, i love your videos!! havent been crocheting long but your videos have made it so much easier to learn!! Please can ask if i wante to make a chevron/granny ripple blanket what would the initial chain be? thanks
how many would you suggest chaining to start to make a throw size blanket? Sort of like a baby blanket size i guess but for an adult to use while relaxing on the couch etc... thank you so much!
Holly Schuler i suggest you chain as many as you think- lay it on the floor and see if its wide enough. Its completely down to the individual so hard to give you a number. I gave suggestions for a baby blanket on my blog- link in the description x
If you have a look at my blog you will find the written instructions and also a clear photograph that shows you the placement of the stitches: blog.bellacococrochet.com/granny-ripple-blanket/ 😊
Great video - can you recommend a chunky wool for this so I could make a few baby blankets quickly? Is a chunkier wool ok for a baby blanket? (Sorry loads of silly questions) thank you xx :)
still thinking of what to make. your videos are so awesome. Been learning a lot from you, since I've subscribe to your channel. What is the first project you've made?
Watched this video and decided to use it to make a friend a baby blanket. Just wanted to ask; would you think a border would go with this type of pattern?? I'm a beginner so just getting the hang of crochet so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :-)
What kind of edging would go best with this pattern? I'm currently making a baby blanket using this and clueless about what border would look best. Thanks!
Hi I'd like to do the Chevron blanket but in half trebles (UK) so it's less dense and grows quicker. Do I need to adjust the no. of stitches in the starting chain or the no. of stitches in the pattern repeat please? many thanks
For half trebles I would add one more to the starting chain, and then work into the third chain from the hook. You will also need to chain two at the beginning of each row, which will count as a stitch 😊
I'm a looser and can not get up to the 3rd row...could you make a longer video? Or longer written instructions? I left comment your your blog page but I don't see it, nor got a reply. Thanks in advance!
hi there. the granny ripple video is very thorough, but I am having problems with the end of the third row. after the last third cluster of 3 trebles, how do you finish this row and continue with the 4th. thank you.
love the pattern works well with a super chunky yarn and 8mm crochet hook too! just wondering if there is any way of straightening the egdes... like you've done on the chevron one? :-/
I'm still having trouble with the ends. Am I supposed to make 3 dc, chain 3, make 3 dc in the last stitch, chain 5, turn, or is it supposed to be 3 dc, chain 5 in the last stitch and turn? I'm new at crochet, and even though I've looked at the tutorial numerous times and read the instructions, I'm still confused because the ends do not look identical. Please advise, and thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Hello, I just love watching your video. I went to the link for the written instruction and the page was no longer there. Is there a way you can post it on here or tell me where to find it? Thanks so much.
This is a really difficult question to answer as it would depend on what yarn you use, your hook size and your tension, keep chaining until you get to the width that you want :)
Hi Bella, I worked multiples of 18 plus 6 and ended up 3 chains short at the end. Do I need to unravel and add 3 more chains. I did a total of 366 chains. Please help a quick response would be greatly appreciated.
When your making your chain do you recommend doing a tight chain or loose chain? Every time that I try to do this my Chain doesn't look right when I start doing my clusters
This blanket is so gorgeous and I definitely have to try it. Could you tell me, if I want to make a blanket any size, what is the number of multiples I go up in? For your sample piece you did 36 and added 6. So is it chain any number and add 6? Thank you so much for all the effort you put in to your videos. You've taught me a lot.
I am on my third attempt. I am doing multiples of 18 adding 6. First attempt was 216 + 6. Then 360 + 6 both times was 3 chains short. Then 396 + 6 and I have ended up 10 chains short. Not sure what is going wrong.
I had a similar problem. However I don’t remember how many short I was. I fudged it. Thankfully I tend to leave a fairly long starting tail, so I chained however many more I needed from my tail to create the right number. However, in saying this, I’m sure the original mistake will show up somewhere in the process, and something else will be wrong as a result. Good luck.
+Lisa B multiplies of 18 means multiply 18 by another number plus six additional stitches to get the width needed...in her example she used 42 to make the swatch (18x2, then added 6)... for something bigger you could go 18x10 for 180, plus 6.... but allow for the fact that the zig zag pattern will eat some length of your chain...for example you chain 186 stitches and its 20" ... When you stitch the pattern it'll be shorter because it will no longer be in a straight line, but zig zag...hope this helps :)
Hi I'm trying to follow this pattern but so far I can't seem to get the tension right at the beginning as the zig zag looks more rounded on the first row and edges curling slightly. I've tried reducing the tension but the same thing happens so I'm wondering if I should leave 6 rather than 5 chains on the troughs. Not sure if that would helpor not. Any suggestions?
If you don’t want any holes I’d look at making a chevron blanket that uses double crochet stitches (US single crochets) instead of granny stitch. I have a tutorial for one here: ruclips.net/video/NS3ydo_pcrs/видео.html 😊 You can also work this pattern with trebles (US doubles), but you’ll need to adjust the turning chain.
At the end of each row, you act like it's a peak & do 2 sets of 3 with 3 ch in between? I'm only on the 4th row, but it seems like my ends are getting longer & not wider as the middle of the blanket is... any ideas? Or does it just seem that way early on? Thanks, Heather
Heather Dow its really hard for me to tell without seeing a picture. You could perhaps send me a pic on instagram or tweet me and i could try and help you more? x
are you ensuring that you are only doing one cluster when you start your row? its east to think you are doing a 'peak' and add another cluster which them makes your row longer each time x
thank you. I find your tutorials very easy to follow. I make baby bonnets, booties and blankets for babies here in Auckland going into awful accommodation - victims of our housing crisis and crocheted blankets are the fastest

Thanks 4sharing. Pretty color combination. 🤗
Love your videos. My multiple meant that I ended on a dip. I changed colour but I'm not sure what to do there to start the next row after ending on a dip.
Thank you 😊 If you work in multiples of 18, plus an extra 6 for turning, the pattern should end on a peak
Love this thank you for being a Great teacher
Love the way you explain how to do different designs. Would love it if you could do just a chevron stitch without it being a granny style. :)
Madison Goreas thank you! That one is on my list of tutorials to do x
Very, very nice... Perfect.
Thank you :)
Thanks for your videos, I have taught myself to crochet whilst travelling using your channel! Please can you do a video for a single crochet chevron blanket or do you know of a good tutorial as I can't seem to find one I understand as well as yours! X

Hey Bella Coco,
I am a beginner here. I am just wondering, how many basic chain stiches i would need to make an adult afghan quilt using this granny ripple stich.

Aubrey Hend the art of crochet issue 8
perfect video. it's only the ends that confuse me but i know they will get easier with practice. how would you finish the edges or are they pretty much finished when the blanket is? thank you for another technique!
Holly Schuler You can leave them as they are, or you could do a double crochet (single in US) stitch all the way around x
I love your videos. I can't make my stitches as neat and tight like yours yet :-( lol
Erica Smith Thank you. It takes a little practice....keep going :) x
Can you please do a short video on how to square this off like the other one u did with the db sts.
Thank you you make it look so easy on have want to learn this stitich
You’re welcome 😊
Again, another awesome tutorial. Thank you much for putting these up for us. I have a pattern for an owl cocoon-a thing to put a baby in...I was wondering if you could help me with that??
Niccole Weaver i shall add it to my request list! thanks for watching x
Love this stitch.
Begging for your written instructions to reappear Love the tutorials loved to having it in writing too started a pattern long ago hadn't had time to work on in a while trying to finish up now miss the written instructions I have since lost :(
I cant wait to try this out. Thank you for sharing!! Ive been dying to make more blankets! :-)
Jessica Keith Hope it goes well! Thanks for watching x
Thank you very nice explained
You're very welcome :)
I'm really stuck with the edges when adding more rows, please help
I had to redo this a couple of times but I got it right now.
Carla Smith glad you managed to sort it! I was trying to figure out what you meant in your last comment lol x
I realize I didn't make much sense lol
Gorgeous design and colours. I'd love to try This but I'd have no idea how to do a border to fill in the 'gaps' would love a tutorial on that! :)
crochet two single crochet into each double crochet "gap" and chain three "gap". That would create a very nice base for the border. You could even do three single crochet into each gap. Hope that helps! :)
Thanks so much! I will give it a go!
No problem!
FayAndLD Hi, I'm glad you found it helpful! No I'm sorry I don't have anything in terms of a video or written out for making it into a straight edge x
That's a pity. But thank you very much for replying! The tutorial was very helpful so again thank you for that.
Bella Coco this is wonderful I love to,crochet yor tutorials are wonerful very clear for beginners.
Thanks for the video. I've just finished a blanket, now would I go about putting a border on this? Thanks.
ds
Hi, i love your videos!! havent been crocheting long but your videos have made it so much easier to learn!! Please can ask if i wante to make a chevron/granny ripple blanket what would the initial chain be? thanks
is it suppose to straighten up on the sides mine seem to go outward; /
how many would you suggest chaining to start to make a throw size blanket? Sort of like a baby blanket size i guess but for an adult to use while relaxing on the couch etc... thank you so much!

Thanks so much!
Hi just to double check when you turn and working into the peak you only do one cluster and not cluster c3 cluster like the other peaks?
If you have a look at my blog you will find the written instructions and also a clear photograph that shows you the placement of the stitches: blog.bellacococrochet.com/granny-ripple-blanket/ 😊
Do you have separate vid of this same pattern for baby dress? Thank you for sharing...
You are very welcome, sorry I don't have a video for a baby dress in this pattern :)
Do you have a video or instructions on how to crochet a straight-edge border for the granny/chevron ripple blanket?
Yes I do, here is the link:- ruclips.net/video/8KXVwGuV97U/видео.html :)
Great video - can you recommend a chunky wool for this so I could make a few baby blankets quickly? Is a chunkier wool ok for a baby blanket? (Sorry loads of silly questions) thank you xx :)
Hi Just wondering if there was a way to fill in the valleys to make the top and bottoms a straight edge?
still thinking of what to make. your videos are so awesome. Been learning a lot from you, since I've subscribe to your channel. What is the first project you've made?
very well explained
Watched this video and decided to use it to make a friend a baby blanket. Just wanted to ask; would you think a border would go with this type of pattern?? I'm a beginner so just getting the hang of crochet so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :-)
Yeah i was wondering about that too because I want to make a pillow out of it and I need straigt edges for it to look right!
What kind of edging would go best with this pattern? I'm currently making a baby blanket using this and clueless about what border would look best. Thanks!
I love the video, however I still don't understand the end of the rows. Is there a way to get the written instructions?
Hi I'd like to do the Chevron blanket but in half trebles (UK) so it's less dense and grows quicker. Do I need to adjust the no. of stitches in the starting chain or the no. of stitches in the pattern repeat please? many thanks
For half trebles I would add one more to the starting chain, and then work into the third chain from the hook. You will also need to chain two at the beginning of each row, which will count as a stitch 😊
Your vidioes sooooo easy

Rachel Sommerville did you work it out? I'm stuck at it now...
If you not changing color, chain 5 and continue pattern with video... hope this help...might be a bit late
When will you be making a video with this pattern for a baby blanket i would love it
hi there. the granny ripple video is very thorough, but I am having problems with the end of the third row. after the last third cluster of 3 trebles, how do you finish this row and continue with the 4th. thank you.
P
I’m writing this so other viewers can find the answer. To end the 3rd row, you do a dc in the 3rd chain on the end. Not into the 4th chain.
So am I.
love the pattern works well with a super chunky yarn and 8mm crochet hook too! just wondering if there is any way of straightening the egdes... like you've done on the chevron one? :-/
+Kallie Da Costa I haven't got a tutorial for that at the moment, but I shall add it to the request list x
What are the colors that you used? It’s so pretty..
I'm want to use this for a blanket for a 5 year old and I am wondering how to figure out how long I need to make my foundation chain?
I'm still having trouble with the ends. Am I supposed to make 3 dc, chain 3, make 3 dc in the last stitch, chain 5, turn, or is it supposed to be 3 dc, chain 5 in the last stitch and turn? I'm new at crochet, and even though I've looked at the tutorial numerous times and read the instructions, I'm still confused because the ends do not look identical. +Gayle Williams did you figure this out? I am wondering this myself. and i dont see any replys from bella.
Hello, I just love watching your video. I went to the link for the written instruction and the page was no longer there. Is there a way you can post it on here or tell me where to find it? Thanks so much.
Hi Bella..may i knoe how much do i need to chain if i were to make a newborn baby blanket? Please do help me🤗🤗
This is a really difficult question to answer as it would depend on what yarn you use, your hook size and your tension, keep chaining until you get to the width that you want :)

Sheila Whitecotton loose chain so that you can get all your stitches in x
Please let me know for shawl how many starting chain stitch do i need and for lapgant how many starting stitches ?
This is lovely. I like your clear explaining. :-) Do you think you can you make a chevon headband tutorial plase??
Hello Bella !
I have a question for you. Can you talk bout the color you are using? Like witch one you use?
It would be nice.
Thanks,

She said at 30 seconds to use multiples of 18 plus 6 :)
+Megan Dart thank you so much Megan! I missed that lol!
I did this for a larger blanket and in multiples of 18 should have been 276 with the added 6...I found myself short three chains and had to restart. 😟
I am on my third attempt. I am doing multiples of 18 adding 6. First attempt was 216 + 6. Then 360 + 6 both times was 3 chains short. Then 396 + 6 and I have ended up 10 chains short. Not sure what is going wrong.

ur thoughts on how many skeins or yards i would need for a full size afghan?
Hi Bella Coco I was wondering how many you would have to chain at the start to make a full size adult blanket. :)
I'd love an explanation of what multiples of 18 plus 6 means
Without seeing it in the flesh its hard to say. Sometimes blocking at the end of your project can help with the shape x
Thank you I will try that
Is there a way to make this with no/or less holes? I'm making a baby blanket but mom's don't want holes.... 😕
You could perhaps send me a pic on instagram or tweet me and i could try and help you more? x
Bella Coco I am having the same issues what am I doing wrong?
are you ensuring that you are only doing one cluster when you start your row? its east to think you are doing a 'peak' and add another cluster which them makes your row longer each time x
