I wanted to take up crocheting as a means to pass time while I was working. Your videos are the only ones I could follow. You make it seem so effortless to beginners. You taught me granny squares, I made 2 full size afghans already, and now you taught me these hexagons which I will be making a soccer themed baby blanket with. Thank you!! And I look forward to many more videos!
+Bella Coco I mastered the hexagon but I am having trouble joining them. I was going for white & pink. like 1pink in the center surrounded by white. sorta looking like a flower. but won't fit..any suggestions?
Love your channel, your so clear and you are good at tutorials. Also, I am in the US and I just love that you do the UK terms and the US terms. Lysm!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am making a granny square Minecraft blanket for my little man and am at the end. I wish I would have seen this when I started so my squares were smoother but my next project will be much more finished looking. Thanks again for the easy to understand explanation.
I really love this tutorial! I’m making a hexagon afghan for my dad and have referred back to this several times, thank you for sharing! I’m curious, what brand of yarn do you use? Also, I have a metal needle and wonder if you prefer the plastic? Is it easier to use? Thanks again! 💕
Hi what would you do with the edge of the blanket? I.e do you leave it as a hex edge blanket or do you put a border round it to square/rectangle it up?
It's literally personal choice. You can leave it as a hex edge blanket - lots of examples of that on Ravelry and other sites - or you can "square it up" as you say.
Hi again I am hoping that you can type in the pattern for this hexagon I have tried writing myself following you but keep getting confused It would be great to have it written many thanks judy dyson
Gasp! A knot!? Haha. I used to tie knots and was told by someone who had been crocheting for a very long time that we should never tie knots. Though I do when I'm attaching bows or puff balls to hats :)
Thank you so much for this! I've wanted to make an afghan that looks like a the board from the settlers of Catan game but was struggling with hexagons. Now I can! Thank you so much!
HiI'm so glad I've found your tutorials !! Even better there are lefthanded ones!I've made the hexagon and half hexagon. I was just wondering if you could do a tutorial for attaching a boarder to a hexi blanket. .? Especially the attaching it to the half hexl where there aren't any stitches!! (The long length) Kind regards Xx
Awesome video! I'm realky new to crochet but this looks like it will be a great project for me to get the hang of it. Would it be possible to do a round 4 on that hexi? I have some yarn and was thinking of two tone hexis. 2 rounds colour A them two rounds colour B. I think it would look nice, the question is can it be done? If so, I'll give it a shot and can sends pics.
Hi LittleFantasy83 Yes, you can continue making them however big you like 😊 Just carry on using the same pattern so that each side of the hexagon increases by two each round (one treble into each stitch and one treble either side). Two tone hexagons would look fab! Hope this helps 😊
I learned to do the solid granny square from you a few months ago ... and just learned the traditional granny square from you yesterday LOL. Now, I'm in love with this hexagon square! Now, I just need to finish the 3 current afghans I'm working on for my church before I begin the hex! Thanks SO much for your easy-to-follow, clean videos.
Another Sunday morning treat, it's the highlight of my week! Great tutorial thank you Sarah Jayne. So going to miss you while you are on your honeymoon. 💓x
Hi, I have acute agoraphobia and anxiety so i took crochet up april 2021 to try and relax a little ,it really works for me and a bonus I'm making a lovely blanket as well. Thank you you don't know how much this has helped me❤
About how many of these hexagons would you need to make for a 50x60 blanket? And about how much yarn to buy? I'm new to crocheting and without making a single hexagon yet, would appreciate this info before buying yarn and committing to this project. Thank you!
How big is this hexagon? I'm intermediate level at crochet and I want to make a blanket for a friend who is expecting. How many of these pieces do you think I would need to make to put together a toddler blanket 42 x 52 inches (107 x 132 cm)? thanks
I love how this looks! I was looking for a new idea away from my usual granny square blankets...I think I will do this for my next project. I want to experiment with a join-as-you-go on these. It will be interesting I'm sure. TFS and pretty colors :-)
HI! I have just started to crochet and made a few of these cute hexagons...but they keep curling! I have adjusted the tension but now they are all slightly different sizes! is there anything else I should be doing? HELP!
hi.i have taught myself how to crochet many stitches using bella coco on youtube...many thanx.however,i cannot join the hexagon shapes together.the pattern itself is fine,i find i can join about a dozen, then when i lay it out flat to look at it,it seems to somehow double over itself.can anybody help me please?????
i can make the hexagons fine,i was making a blanket of them and somehow it seems to gone wrong.when i held the blanket up,it looks like the blanket doubles over on itself,it wont lie flat.HELP!!!!!
I’m new to crocheting. I love your tutorials! I have been following along and my hexagon is looking more like a circle lol. Are my stitches to lose? To tight? I need help 😫
Your instructions for a hexagon are the easiest to follow! have not done a hexagon before now, am now a hexie lover! Do you have written instructions for making hexagons?
Christine Russ enjoyed this hexagon tutorial a lot very easy to follow I have done hexagon work before but watching this tutorial was a lot easier and shall be doing a blanket with this technic
can I add another round to the nonsolid hexagon that is solid, so it looks more defined? would I do that by doing a treble crochet through the top of each stitch without chaining unless it's a corner? If so, would I chain 2 in each corner between 2 treble crochets? and do 2 treble crochets in each open loop on the sides of the hexagon without chaining? I hope my question made sense. I like the look of the solid ones joined together better, but I already have a lot of nonsolid ones made.
I find you extremely easy to follow, I already had a basic knowledge from when my mum taught me (she knits, so only has basic crochet skills) thank you 💕
Thank you Bella Coco, It.s the first time I did this patern, and It was easy to follow. You're a good teacher. I,m verry greatfull to you. Greetings from the Netherlands, Sita.
Just found your channel and I love it. I love the patterns! Can you do a half hexagon like you did with the granny hexagon. I would love to make a blanket with this pattern.
It’s because of your videos of the basic granny square that I’ve fallen in love with crochet! I’m currently making a star blanket but this is my next project for sure! After my daisy granny square blanket 😂 thank you!
Hi Bella. Love the tutorial. Thank you 😀 can i use normal double knit (with the size 5 hook)instead of the baby wool as i have loads of spare. Thanks x
Over the past few days I have tried several different variations of granny hexagon for a blanket I am interested in making, and this one is by far my favorite!
HEllo Bella.. i love your tutorials. I was looking for a 3 round hexagon granny square and I found this. Not too big but cute. Thank you. If i may suggest..could ypu perhaps make a hexagon granny square, but with a heart in the center??.i was imagining it in my mind..IT woyld be awesome. None has ever made it..at least from all the tutorials for " hexagon granny square" havent found one. Take care. Success🙏🙏😊🤨
Great tutorial…… could you please tell me if I need to continue in this same form in order to make one big hexagon ? I’d like to make it as a LOVELY. Are there any changes I need to make ? Thank you for sharing !!
Thank you 😊 You can keep on adding rounds until you reach the size you want by adding two stitches per side in the same fashion; if you’re planning on making the hexagon really big then I would recommend flipping it over and working on the opposite side each round so that it keeps the sides straight.
I’m confused. Have I always been doing double crochet wrong? I do yarn over, pull through the first two, yarn over, pull through the last two. Is that wrong?
if making a blanket with Aran (100% acrylic) what size hook should I use? I was either going to do different textured squares. wave or continued square until big enough.
Can i ask a question here, once you've got all your hexagons made, whats the method sewing them together? .. How i mean, is do you join them into strips like you do with granny squares and then join all the strips together ??? ... Or is there another way to join them?? If someone could clarify that would be much appreciated. Many thanks Sarah.
Thank you for this video! I Searched for a video after seeing a photo of the pattern in a craft book (instructions confounded me) I watched several others (unsuccessfully ) before finding you! First Hexagon done! Yay!
Just recently taught myself to crochet through RUclips ! I'm addicted lol ... thank you for your great instruction and beautiful projects 🌸
Thank you for the close-ups. It makes a huge difference when learning.
You're very welcome :)
I’m assuming you could continue increasing by 2 on each row to have a large hexagon instead of small ones sewn together?
Great tutorial, very easy to follow, I crocheted an hexagon in no time!
I wanted to take up crocheting as a means to pass time while I was working. Your videos are the only ones I could follow. You make it seem so effortless to beginners. Do you have a written version of this pattern.
I.e do you leave it as a hex edge blanket or do you put a border round it to square/rectangle it up?
julie Rhodes was wondering the same
julie Rhodes she has a video on how to do half hexes so that you acn square or retangle it up😃
It's literally personal choice. You can leave it as a hex edge blanket - lots of examples of that on Ravelry and other sites - or you can "square it up" as you say.
I'm a beginner and your tutorials are really helping me a lot!! Thank you very much!! Regards from Argentina!!!

Gasp! A knot!? Haha. I used to tie knots and was told by someone who had been crocheting for a very long time that we should never tie knots. Though I do when I'm attaching bows or puff balls to hats :)
It's just down to personal preference as to what people like to use x

Hi Bella can you help me please, how can I make this in to a square so that the hexagon is in the middle
How thick was your yarn?

Thxs for the tutorial s .I would like you to crochet a three layer flower please.
I love this too. I would like to see more shapes being crocheted as this is what I would like to do for a personal project.
Do you have a tutorial on how to join solid hexagons using the join as you go method?
These look beautiful! Can you please tell me how wide/long they are? I’d also like to use the style craft DK and 5mm hook 😊
This size of these would depend on your own personal tension :)
How long did this project take you???
I have a question if I want to make a bigger hexagon how do I do that.
