As a new POD shop (over a week old), going in completely blind as far as marketing and SEO, this vid has a lot of great info and what really reinforced my thought process was you guys saying treat it as a business instead of just slapping graphics on a shirt. A lot of what you guys said, I’ve been doing just because it seemed logical. I’m happy to say that I’ve made two sales! No doubt at least in part to some info from your channel. The designs in my head are great and I’m decent at getting them to a product but I know I can get better. Sorry for the rant, just wanted to say thanks 🙏

@@user-fc5eo5ku5b hey thanks for asking! I feel like I’m doing ok. I’m up to 10 sales since three weeks ago. I grasp the SEO concept but according to my stats, a lot of my traffic is coming from ads that I’m running on FB and Insta. So, with that in mind I’m still learning how to get better SEO results. I’d say roughly around 10 or so of my listings have been favorited and a few that have followed my shop. Lastly, three people have left five star reviews which is always nice to see.
So compared to other shops that have started, maybe it’s not such a great start but I put a decent amount of effort and thought into my designs so I’m gonna keep pumping out unique designs, keep an eye on my shop statistics and adjust from there.
One thing I know for sure holding me back right now is mockups. I can make them or find resources to help me make them but I haven’t found one that I feel accurately shows the dimensions and placement of my design on the mockup. It’s always a little bit off or doesn’t look right to me. Maybe I’m being a little OCD about it. I spend a large portion of my day trying to progress my shop in one way or another.

I use the sales velocity method similar to this. I started in June. I have over 8K sales, almost 500 5-star reviews, am a star seller, and i have a 19.9% conv rate for Jan. I sell digital products.

If you have to setup your own traffic you may as well send to your own store front rather than etsy where there is competition and etsy fees
You have fees on your own site and will pay more to drive traffic to your own site.
The best bet long term is both...not either or😉

to expand on this. I agree its worth having both (etsy is good for testing product demand). But if you are going to send traffic somewhere, send to your own store where you can add in checkout nudges and upsell basket items etc. plus you dont have people clicking away to "other items" advertised by etsy. Value of etsy is greatly diminished if they dont push your product for you@@brandcreators

Great information! My shop is doing pretty well. I have almost 10,000 sales, 5 star rating, a little over 3,000 very positive reviews, I am also a star seller. My conversion rate is only 9.6%. I think I will make sure that my pictures and listing description are great! I have no idea what my ranking is!

just love the " find a product to sell that no one is selling or that is popular" push , No need to know how to make items and be good at it anymore I guess. Just buy some stuff and throught out so resale print on demand items that you design from IA that is just what we need. All about making $$ and forget being a actual maker.

More Noise. SEO is simple, don't over think it. Bottom line is that you need to provide a product that people want to purchase. Good products will sell themselves. I make and attempt to sell small wood decor items and its a struggle on Good Days. Competing against China is not a good business model! I just can't justify selling Mugs and T-Shirt and race to the bottom. The real profit on these POD sites is zilch! Run the numbers and you will see that this is the case.
So would it be better to sell the first few of a new listing at a loss to drive sales and then slowly raise the price once you have sales in order to start ranking for that listing? This is of course assuming that the rest of everything else with said listing is good (photos, keywords, description, etc)
That's what we have done and it helps for sure.

Can we talk about the other elephant? 🐘I think pricing is the other obstacle. It's very difficult to compete with Temu rn. I have a fashion store for women, and as an artist, my designs are not the problem. It seems as if people are tight on the purse strings. I try to stay competitive but POD prices are very high for certain clothing items and it's very frustrating. How can I sell Yoga pants for $50 when Temu is selling cute AF pants for $10... 😮💨
yeah I agree, if you are chasing the trends then you'll be chasing them alongside all your competition, including mass producing Temu type companies. I think putting a unique spin on the trends may be key, just thinking out loud.
You have to define and focus on your target customer. People who buy products on temu are not your target customers so you do not compete with temu.
Exist digital products
Everyone knows that Temu products are garbage though.. so there's that. Maybe that's fine for "around the house", but ...
The point I’m trying to make here is that POD prices for certain clothing items are not priced in such a way that it gives the seller an advantage.
I could easily replace Temu with Nike which charges $50+ for their clothing but they’re a big brand and people are willing to pay that.
I’ve noticed that most POD clothing items are the cheapest material but marked up between manufacturing and shipping costs to us the business owners. It’s difficult to find a good price point. I just decided to shop around for POD companies that can provide stock at affordable prices so that I can sell other clothing item’s besides t-shirts that I can price at an appealing cost for customers and still turn a profit.
Idk. I’d like to hear from Scott & Chris advice on how they tackle this issue. 🤔 💭
Someone told me copying creative fabrica and slapping on Etsy will.not help...and I can tell you that I have done that and has very less sales
Amazon did used to have a rule regarding duplicate products, you could not duplicate a product and change the title/keyword to AB test. I do not know if they still do as I don't sell there anymore :)

2024, my visits are down 64%, my sale are down by 14% (which is actually good considering people aren't seeing me much) BUT! my conversion rate is up by double. So, basically when people actually see my listing, they sell ok. WTF? Why are my visits down so much? I Also spend $1-5 a day in ads, and getting a horrible return on the ads. I have 5 stars, over 20,000 sales ( but since 2009, point being, I am an established seller). Any Advise?
Please do a video that offers support for the artist or one-of-a-kind creator. Or are we completely out of luck now.

So doing listing renewals is bad, but what is the best way to handle the listing process if you're changing the list
I'm not sure how you got that doing listing renewals is bad, that's not something we covered in the video. The ideal thing would be to set your listing to automatically renew the listing.
I’ve been hearing repeatedly that people who have hundreds of sales with 5 star reviews and some buyer gives one of their products one star without even contacting them to try to resolve. After that, no matter how many five star reviews she gets, Etsy puts the I star at the top above the newer five star reviews . Why would they do that?
People are jerks, but one negative review isn't the end of the world. Especially if you respond as the seller and show people you care.
@@brandcreators even I have more than 100k sales on etsy. This happened with one of my products and another youtuber lost 80% of the sales of her whole store. I felt very devastated, because I always help my clients
I recently had someone buy a digital listing from me for $1.50. It was for a listing of 100 colorful marble pictures. She thought she was actually getting real Marbles a d left me a 2 star review. I'm new with only 67 sales and a perfect 5 up to that point and it crushed my score. On Christmas day too. I contacted Etsy and they just removed it, long story short. But in my case it was stupidity on the part of the buyer for not reading the 12 times it was mentioned that it is DIGITAL! I'm sure there are other circumstances that might be out of your control that Etsy might remove it

I sell one of a kind art pieces, I can't figure out if opening an etsy shop is feasible. I am totally confused.
So one thing to clarify - find products that have demand. Ok so sweatshirts for example have demand, but do you have to find demand for sweatshirts within your niche? Is that where your getting at?
Research the analytics on the best seller under a specific niche of that product. Don't think general. Think specifics and go from there.

This is confusing about the handmade option. I have been listening to Cassiy and she showed on a video to upload these pod shirts as handmade. Probably because I made the design. There's not enough options on Etsy.
The good news is, once you know which settings they are it's straightforward.
But yes anything POD should show as handmade with production assistance.....not "handmade". At least according to printify....and ETSY themselves 🤣
