    I’ve been doing this for 3 years. I am now in my fourth year. Only this year have I seen a significant change in revenue. 2021-2023 made around $4,000 a year. This year I have already made $4,000 by April. I doing $800 to $1000 in revenue right now. I sell digital patterns. It has taken a lot of consistent effort, but I love what I do so it doesn’t feel like work.

      I tried Etsy but got discouraged in mailing. I have a totally unique item that I created and can’t do shows anymore due to health reasons. You seem very level headed. I’m just going to do Etsy with my Polly’s Posies. Build it slow.

    One thing I have noticed about infringement notices is that the trademark holder has a portal on their website that allows the general public to make a report. So your competitors are going to these trademark holders and reporting you. That is why only some listing get taken down while others remain. If a trademark owner doesn't have a reporting option you'll notice Etsy is full of products featuring these marks. Some examples of trademark owners who have a reporting portal are Jeep, Harley Davidson, Disney, All Branches of The US Military.

    I've been on Etsy for 2 years. My first store is most definitely a 'spaghetti on the wall' shop with lots of different printables. At one point I had about 800 products listed and was selling very little. My second store (still digital products) has a niche, and it outsold the first store within 6 months. I've since deleted hundreds of non-selling items from the first store and it's down to 200 products now. It's still not where it needs to be and still needs an overhaul, but I find myself focusing my attention on the second store because it makes sales. And this week I opened my third store, and have finally entered the POD realm (with a niche :-)

    What difference does it make if you launch a thousand different designs
    really. Most buyers will by one of your items when they come across it and may never visit your shop. I like spaghetti and throwing it against the wall. I tried Niches and one theme shops and no sales.... I scraped 600 designs in a niche with no views. My Spaghetti approach is getting traffic. I'm going for it. I'm 70 so no norm for me! Screw niches. I look at it this way. Back in the day nothing was more fun then looking at a Spencer Novetly catalog of all the different items....Think Sky mall on the plane...I can't control my self to stick to a boring niche.....Win..Lose or draw I'm throwing the spaghetti to the damn wall...Why? because that's what I enjoy. I love to create. All the Gurus that tell you they made millions on POD have one thing in common. They give advice on how you can be a millionaire like them but you must do what they do SO....They send you to links so they can make money when they convince you to join their affiliates and in a nut shell newbies do it because they think it the answer. They don't tell you they have 2,500 items launched before Etsy got crowded during Covid. Etsy is swamped and Volume is needed to get seen. When I started they said Personalization was the key. I joined Hello Customs and was charged $30 a month plus .29 for each mug personalized. The company was good but I had 600 Signature items and only sold a few. After I shelled out Almost $200 I soon realized it was not worth it . The customer service was non existent on weekends and sometime they would not answer for days but it's good if your doing volume as the model works great but it is way too expensive unless your selling 100 plus a month. It takes volume to justify the price when your only making a few bucks after Etsy fees and Sales. Anyways if I'm on the Titanic at least I will enjoy the band before plunging into the Abyss. Do or die...I'm breakin the rules...and I'm enjoying doing it. LOL. P.S, I have two other shops of Non-POD items and get tons of traffic. This POD business is super over crowded with thousands of sellers giving up after a few hundred designs and abandoning their shops. So much Garbage it hard to navigate. POD is a tough business and if your not willing to put in a lot of time to do it its not for you.

    I am glad you mentioned the low quality of a lot of the designs. I hate the assumption that everyone can be a graphic designer with no training, skill, or experience. I have tried many times and it isn't as easy as people make it seem, at least if you are being original and authentic.

Full disclosure - you're the first and only channel I've subscribed to and I've never watched so much RUclips lol were launching our first products this weekend! We're a little different than what you guys talk about. We're a home made organic bath and body care shop so it does scare me that the market is flooded and won't work but im taking your advice and building a brand, trusting in our products, and have a plan to build a customer base/e-mail list. 🎉

If you can respond to me, I’d appreciate it.

    Hi! Super excited about your videos :-) I am learning a lot because I am super new to Etsy. I think I startet in the beginning of April and already have 11 sales (5 of them are friends). I am running ads and I wanted to ask how I know when Etsy is just wasting my money and when there is an actual chance. For example: I have an ad running of an downloadable printing and it sold once. Now I have the feeling Etsy is spending more money on that. BUT (I am from marketing and know things) I don't know if they just blow it out the window because the product is SO low priced (under 6 Dollars)... I will not be able to have a goad ROAS. What do you think?

    Just on the creating duplicate listings to AB test. I agree (did it once and had mixed results creating an Anniversary section..) however etsy are running Etsy Google SEO Webinars with their dev's talking to the public and etsy seo engineer was actually saying that it is a good idea to duplicate listings to create a Gift section to rank for gifting. That's where the renewed push for duplicate listings is coming from. Being seo engineers they are probably right about anything they say off the cuff on ranking. Rules and regs? Who knows.

    About the duplicate listing for multiple categories: 100% agree it is SO DUMB you can't cross ref categories without creating new listing! I started a "Made In USA Quick Ship" category as an experiment and yeah, it splits the data and makes a mess for me. In my Shopify, I can cross-catagorize to my heart's content and the customer can see whatever they are looking for. Etsy gonna Etsy, I guess.

    The reason everyone is so crazy about keywords in relation to SEO is because back 10 years ago, it was an excellent strategy. There are currently 7.9 million sellers and of that probably 80% have excellent SEO, so if you think a keyword is going to help you, good luck. The example I give for sellers struggling to understand that their products need to be in demand is that I could take a Stanley tumbler and photograph it next to a dump and I bet Ill sell it within 48hrs if its one of the colors that are not available. I will give the listing a title of cup and no tags, one horrible photo, and I bet it sells. My best sellers don't have any tags...

    My pod shop wasn't ready for Q4 in my niche, so to get in on it I hurriedly created Halloween and x-mas products, with videos and all. Not in my niche but I was under the impression that Q4 was so good that I would at least make some seed money.
    I didn't make a single out of niche sale, and only a couple of favorites. Rude awakening.
    My niche is a summer niche and difficult to holiday up.
    Also shop was opened in 2023 so I didn't rank anywhere yet.

    Hi, thank you for a good advice for a change. I haven’t been on Etsy for long and I picked up on how bad it is to exaggerate numbers or just to say the highlights of Etsy when there’s so much work to be done as a graphic designer myself, and using print on demand, I started my Etsy shop and of course I’m not making that much money, but I am very grateful that I have been making a little money every day which I see I think that I would love to have adviceon how to compare what I’m doing or how I’m doing compared to what is considered good what is considered normal to expect so that I know where I stand on my Etsy journey so you can make a video on how we compare our store in general to what’s considered good normal so that I can hang in there so that I know that I’m on the right track and I’m doing the right things. I would love that and I would definitely appreciate it. My name is Marci thank you Marci thank you.

    I keep missing the live streams so I'll ask this here ... what is your opinion on 3D printed stuff "on demand"? In other words, I have a 3D printer, but not a lot of space for inventory, so I put up a listing but I don't actually print it until it's ordered. My niche would most likely be "board game stuff" (organizers, replacement / upgrade parts, etc). One example is a space game called Twilight Imperium, that uses a bunch of hex tiles to make the "board" so it's different every game ... the item I would be printing for it is a hex-shaped tile holder with magnets in it, so it holds the "board" together on the table... but I would use "galaxy" filament that has a tiny amount of glitter in it so it kinda looks like space with stars. Anyway, that was just one very specific example. But the point is, it would take 42 tile holders (or 68 for 7+ players). It could potentially take me 3 days or more to print the full set of 42 tiles (until I get some money to buy/build a bigger printer so I can do more at any one time). Here's my biggest concern: Would that lead time on literally everything I can sell cause problems, even if I mention it in the description? I'm not (yet, anyway) trying to start a business that will be my sole source of income or anything, just a little bonus on the side every now and then.

    • @ItsYourFavCraftpreneur
      @ItsYourFavCraftpreneur 7 месяцев назад +1

      If it takes you 3 days to do one order, I’d pass because people are use to Amazon speed. When I see shops that say turn round time is month…I move on to the next seller. What’s the market like on board games, I personally haven’t played a board game in years. I’d focus on making functional products that people can use at work. That will make it evergreen because we work year round, great for gifting. Crafters love functional items as well. Solve problems that occur doing everyday tasks.

    • @richard3365
      @richard3365 7 месяцев назад

      @@ItsYourFavCraftpreneur Unfortunately, 3D printing in general is not very fast, unless you have multiple machines that each cost at least 5 figures, at which point you're probably a full blown business and don't need Etsy anymore. As for the market, well, just about every board game I've ever seen on Kickstarter and the like has made about 1000x their goal in a month, and near where my friend lives (who hosts our game nights) there's at least 3 brick and mortar stores within 10 miles that sell nothing BUT board games and accessories, one of which even has an entire section dedicated to used games... so I'd say it's still pretty vibrant. But my main reason for picking that niche is it's something I'm actually familiar with and I actually use the items I would be selling, so I would have my own photos of my own products actually being used to put on my store instead of just generic mockups.

    I am brand new. I’ve been on this for about five or six months and i’ve made 300 sales, but Christmas was the kickoff and I realize that it is so hard to come up with designs and do them and do the logistics and the profit is really small on everything a lot less than I expected and all the fees are a lot higher, so I’m a little disappointed, The advice on how to do things has been played out the photos, and listing a bunch of designs every day that makes no sense anymore, and I don’t even believe that I would like advice on things past the photos. How about some advice on how to research and find out exactly how to visualize my store as an artist I enjoy lots of niches and designing for different things, but is it OK to have five shirts in one and then six other shirts and or mugs or whatever just good designs but only a few rather than horrible design designs and 100 and that’s exactly what I’m trying to say and how do I compare myself toin general, the statistics with other stores or what it’s known to be normal Etsy sales is what I’m talking about

    When I see a shop that sells a wide variety of things I pretty much instantly know it's just another valueless reseller
    Especially if it's bullshit like t-shirts, mugs or other obvious resell bullshit

    Listen; ETSY is brain-dead. They can add browser keys. These keys know no such thing as one winner who sold three. It sells everything in the store or goes away like all the rest are leaving, and the competition saw this, I know I send a lot of information to companies many times in life, all over. The keys you press at the browser say type of artwork,/ design/ images and such. Then it says- popular, geometric, glow in dark, animals, places, things, space, other. Then it has another drop down where you can find names of artists so they can debut, and then finally keywords since keywords fell it can be shored-up. Because all the stores are dying and others are already studying why. It is because there is never a clear winner on any day. I might just buy children's scribbl scrabble tee for the birth a child, or something and those are the least that can ever win.
