Making a .50 BMG Round as a secret Compartment | Lathe Projects - Развлечения
Instead of notes - what could be stored in it as well? (Wrong answers only) 😅
Weed
Grandma
Any illegal substance lol
Won't you try a 155 mm shell, or above ? I have quite a lot of things to store ! 😄
Mahunna
These deserve way more views. I love watching this kind of stuff!
"for optical reasons" is the best rendition of "because it looks good" that i've ever read
🤣🤣
The word you wanted was "'aesthetic."
Nice 50cal
Whenever I watch you cut a thread, I’m reminded of my Metalwork Teacher at school teaching us how to do that. He said to remember “Half forward, back, take up the slack”.
Half forward - half a turn of the tap, cutting new thread
Back - return to the starting point, therefore removing the cut fragments
Take up the slack - return the tap ready to begin a new cut
Apparently this would reduce the chances of snapping the tap as it got deeper in to the workpiece, and make it easier to extract once cutting was completed. 🤷🏼♂️
HA! Ich wusste es :D
I WANT IT I WANT IT
I'd hide gunpowder in mine.............lol
There is something so satisfying when you turn such beautiful work. Who says metal is cold? This is beautiful!
Oh my gosh what a cool project and you did a fantastic job creating it! I WANT ONE!!!
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Hello mister Patina beautifully made good job
Very nicely done! 🍻🤘💜
*Kia ora (hello) Mister Patina 🙂(just one word) WOW 🙂.*
Thats cool project! Greetings from Finland!🎅🏻👍🏻🇫🇮☃️❄️❄️❄️
Awesome job....the next step is to show that it chambers properly. :)
Nearly impossible here. I wish I could have test fitted it
Super Arbeit 👍🏼 ne schöne Gravur mit MrPatina noch 👍🏼👍🏼
that was a cool project. thanks for building it
Great job ! Looks perfect !
PS: meine Drehbank ruft.....
Haha, viel Erfolg! Die Pläne gibts auf Wikipedia
Штирлиц никогда не был так близок к провалу)
Great job Mr. Patina 👏👏👏, as always 👉👉👉. Thanks man 🙏. 😎
Thank you so much!
Always enjoy your work!
Another great and clever video from you, Mister P! Love it - keep up the good work!
2:38 I love it 😂😂
Sweet And Deadly! SUPER LOVELY!!
Haha, thanks!
😅 I guessed same word, - was writen on paper :D nicelly done bullet.
Love it. That was clever, well done, well filmed and edited. This was a fun project. Thanks for sharing. (And I had the message figured out as well!🤣)
This is so cool! I love precision machining 👍🏻
Great job 👍
Sehr cool geworden ❤
Danke!
I'd be using it to store something else that's rolled up! 🤣🤣🤣
Haha! Perfect shape!
My thought too
Awesome 😮 Two thumbs way up 👍👍
Thanks!
Is it possible to store sugar in it?
It's almost like a dummy round. Great job!
Thanks!
In my neck of the woods, any ammo a burglar would find would definitely be taken.
See the sunnies with joint compartment far better idea.
Walking about with a 50 cal replica is only going to cause unnecessary problems.
Then they realise it's for concealment law enforcement would have a field day with you
Awesome Mr. P!! Nicely done.
Thanks Jason!
Perfect 👍 like a real!
Thanks!
Any restoration videos in the future or just making new stuff?
Iam currently restoring something, the following projects will be restorations as well 🙂👍
@misterpatina cool, I enjoy a mix of both. I just enjoy the uncommon things you restore.
Excelente trabajo amigo. Felicitaciones.
Gracias!
Why won't this doggon thing fire?!?!
🤣🤣🤣
The "bullet" was odd shaped, but you made a good job. I understand, if it's not meant to look like a real one, of course.
Very nice work M.P.. Thats definitely thinking outside the box... Turned out beautiful...Thx for sharing...
Thanks Gary!
The nose of the bullet is too rounded to look real but still a fantastic job on the piece.👍
Thanks! Like I said in the subtitles, I made it round on purpose...dont want anybody to get hurt.
Fix the tip. The "illusion" of the.50 BMG is marred by this flaw. Excellent craftsmanship nonetheless.
Help to key chain bullet caliber 7,62mm
😎very cool
Thanks!
3:56 sounds yummy 😋
The problem is that it looks sooo cool, I'd want to steal it for itself, not knowing it's a hiding place.
Nice one!! Hope you are fully recovered!!
Thanks! Iam 🙂👍
I love all of your projects, also this one too but to be honest the projectile of this bullet doesn't look real,it could be little bit more sharp on the tip ❤
Did this on purpose, like I said in the subtitles 😉
👍👍👍
The projectile diameter should have been 12.7mm (=.5 inch).
It’s pretty funny, the German and the US Wikipedia shows different sizes
after it's left the barrel
What a wonderful place to hide totally not drugs
🤣🤣
could store a little bit of nasal administered enthusiasm in it for the workshop night shift 😂
Bugger suger or nose candy…..
@@Fuckyouyoutube777 yes sir
how does the thread turning die work? is there a mechanism that precisely controls the speed that it moves horizontally, ensuring the thread pattern is even?
The lathe has an automatic feed with different gears. On the lathe there are different gear ratios, telling you which ratio equals which thread.
So you basically just turn low speed and NEVER EVER turn off the auto feed 😅 (otherwise it would lose the position)
cool! thanks@@misterpatina
🤗
👍👍👍❣
Would this be considered beginner, intermediate or advanced level?
Oh id say beginner - intermediate
@ 3:49 - love the way you cheated to created that thread :D this is totally something I'd do!
Cheated? I push a drill chuck against it to cut straight 👍
@@misterpatinawell, a kind of a cheat in the exact way I would cheat :D loved it! not kicking your ass mate, it's great.
@foff-666 haha okay, I understand 🙂👍
Every lathe operator I watch does that
@@misterpatina let me buy this piece :D it's friggin awesome! this alone would fully contain a 2 yr supply of weed for me.. i don't smoke much, but when i do... i wanna pull it out of a 50cal haha
I’d store a Oreo protein bar and a large Sugarfree Redbull in there
🤣🤣🤣
Hi sir that was absolutely fantastic. Are you considering making and selling them?
Thanks! No, I just make them for myself
The question is will it actually fit in a 50 cal rifle?
It should, I turned it to +0,1mm, so it will be correct after sanding/polishing. But I don’t have the opportunity to test 😕
Unreal bullet
Like I said in the subtitles, I made it round on purpose...dont want anybody to get hurt.
👏👍💪🔥
Деньги, заначку от жены прятать), или стаф
Haha, good idea!
You know, I'm not sure if an item that might get the SWAT team called out would exactly be my _first_ choice to hide clandestine notes.
Haha! But what if you’re on the SWAT side but got some secrets?
Now the question is, would this fake 50 BMG round be able to jam a M2 browning machine gun?
Also, did you know that in World War II? there were cases where allied ground crews and pilots would sometimes find high explosives bullets inside of their fuel tanks that have been shot that didn’t go off like they were supposed to.
Well, the Americans and the British mechanics and pilots being curious people that they are decided to cut these unexploded I explosive rounds open to see why they failed. And upon cutting them open, they discovered that the explosives had not been put inside the bullet. Instead, they discovered small rolled up pieces of paper with messages from the people who were working in the factories on the assembly lines, making these bullets saying that this is as much as they could do for the war effort to helping the allies win the war against Hitler and his Nazis.
Thats a real interesting story...thanks for sharing!
Не похож
Ööööööööl 😓
As a .50BMG owner, you did ok. The work itself is good but the projectile shape is wrong. It's not a straight taper but an ogive. I'm sure 99% of people will never notice the difference.
A sandwich
😅😅
Hey, Mister Patina! Great video as always. You've got a pretty big fanbase now, which is why I'm bringing up this part, 10:18. Inevitably, with an audience this big, some of your audience will be neither ladies nor gentlemen. If you use a collective gender-neutral term to address your audience instead, you won't be leaving out a portion of your audience! We love you, thanks for the wonderful videos! ❤
Hate to tell you this, but that's a bit big to be a .50.
So we can be glad it won’t fire 😅
You’re right here! Spasibo!
@@misterpatina Пожалуйста (Gern geschehen).
Stop saying sweet!
Stop telling me what to do. Sweet sweet sweet.
If it's .50 BMG, one of the most MURICA cartridges in the world, why did you measure everything in confusing metric instead of the logical freedom units? 😜
Coz the Rest of the World uses metric... 🤷🏼♂️
Haha! My lathe doesn’t show freedom 🤣
@@misterpatina In all seriousness, the only thing I could legitimately say is that I have never seen a .50 BMG cartridge anywhere near that shiny. They _always_ look a little weathered. That alone would make it stand out, and I'd know something was off as soon as I picked it up to check it out because it wouldn't feel right. The cases on real cartridges aren't anywhere near that thick-walled, and the bullet is a thin copper jacket around lead, so the balance would be very off. But give it a few months of sitting around and being randomly handled and it should start looking more like the real thing 😁.
My friend, the correct name for this round, even in the US forces, is not .50 BMG, but 12.7 × 99mm NATO. 😉
@JollyRoger2408 my friend, the main definition is .50bmg (browning machine gun). You can also call it: 50 brg, 50 L11, 50 browning, 50 cal, 50 m2 or 12,7x99. The main definition is 50 bmg, invented by browning in the 20‘s.
