    doors for enrolment will be closing this Sunday, October 29th at Midnight
    I always like making tools, especially hand planes but these little finger planes were a super fun project. :)

    There's something almost magical about a craftsman making his own tools. Also, I really like the diversity of projects you do here, everything from restorations to creations in metal and wood, and all of them well-made and interesting to watch. Excellent channel, Mr Pask!

    I'm in awe of the craftsmanship here! Jedi Master grade metalwork!!! A small set of these is on my shopping list and they're affordable enough, so I'm not about to make my own, but watching you make them has inspired me to high standards in the work I want finger planes for. Absolutely loved this vid!!!

    This video proves why you're one of my favorite creators on RUclips. You have all the big boy toys but you take the time to demonstrate that it can be done with common hand tools. Plus your videos are absolutely amazing, why I've been a subscriber for many years now. Cheers

    You're absolutely right that you don't need fancy equipment to make things. People get too hung up on that, but all they really do is make it easier and faster, not any more possible. Also, I love this method of doing ad spots because it's not taking you out of the video. Bob who likes to make stuff does his ads that way, too.

    I love that you have consistently gone out of your way (literally doing projects twice) just to show that basic hand tools will do the job. I think if more content creators did that it would inspire even more makers who otherwise would think they can’t afford to make things

    Neil, if you haven’t already discovered Ken Parker’s Archtoppery RUclips series, he’s posting free videos of his expertise (that he should frankly be charging for), and they cover every part of his legendary hollow body building process, from making custom tools to his wild machine setups for his intricate builds. Love how your planes turned out and can’t wait to see them put to use. They are 100% missing a maker’s mark! 🥰

    One of the things I love about your videos is that always show how it can be done with simple hand tools. It is clear you are still thinking of beginner makers.

    I remember my dad using some tiny planes like that when he made a guitar, he used them for evening out the sound boards and made some incredibly fine cuts with them.
    Very cool little tools and great to watch the build,

    Great project/video. On a side note, the wife started a RUclips channel 6 months ago. I never realized how much goes into you making your videos. All the money you spend on cameras, computers, editing software, time filming, time editing and uploading, responding to comments, etc…I appreciate all your hard work across the board👍 You must spend a great deal of time doing this. My wife spends over 8hrs just to create a 30min video. Plus we just had to spend another couple thousand dollars to upgrade her computer because her old one kept locking up…couldn’t handle all the data. I don’t know what you have invested in your equipment but I’m sure it isn’t cheap. Thank you again for a great video my friend 👍🙂 I have a new appreciation for what you do.

    I love your videos. I learned so much from you. I have learned how to use hand tools. I’m just a small woman, working in a office. I build things for my self in my living room on a portable workbench - always making ab big mess. I have some power tools like a router (still affraid to use it to it’s full potential) and a small hand circular saw. Staff of lokal hard ware stores support my hobby by precutting materials to weird dimensions they usually not do for customers. I have not build anything realy good or mentionable but i hope i will be able to in the future. Thanks so much for your inspiring videos.

    can i just say, that is the best ad integration i've seen from a youtuber yet. you didnt interrupt the video and make me want to skip the ad to get back to what i was watching, you kept the footage going, kept it short and sweet, and got right back to it. well done. i wish thats how all sponsored segments would be so i dont feel bad about skipping the ads and pissibly costing the ad rev for creators i like to watch

    I made one of these out of a piece of copper pipe once. Really needed a specific one-off (and it really was, one time use, i never found a purpose for it after) profile cut and nothing on the market even remotely came close. They're so easy to make that buying one, even if it's cheap as cheap gets... kinda is detrimental to your skill set as a maker.

  • @aserta
    @aserta 10 месяцев назад +1

    The adjustment screws can easily be made in even something like a hand drill (put the hand drill on the edge of a table and keep it down with your non dominant hand allowing you to use a file or an angle grinder to shape the head). The knurling can be made using using a bastard file. Put the file on a table's edge, clamped down or glued with double face tape, and then pressing with your hand on the chuck of the drill, roll the screw on the bastard file's face (no power, just by hand) until the finish is to your liking. DO NOT lift the screw until you've achieved the finish you want. if you do, you'll mess it up.

    It's so rewarding to watch someone with such skill make the beautiful things you do. It just fills a spot in me that would love to be able to stuff like this myself, knows that I might be able to with loads of time and patience, but now don't have to. 😁 I can be satisfied with the things I already have the skills and tools to make, which today starts with the worst job of all: cleaning my work space. Yuck!

    The lever cap screws: I've seen people do lots of hand shaping on the drill press for sure. As for the hobbing that you did, that can be done by hand with needle files and patience, and I'm under the impression that irregular patterns have greater grip on the fingers.
