- Only hand tools. I have long wanted to make a planer, but I wanted it from some kind of hard wood, but in order to plan wenge or ebony, you need to grind chisels and planers at an angle of at least 40 degrees! But since thanks to you I got stones, I decided to do it! The coating is, as usual, tung oil, then after shooting it was rubbed with shellac. Thank you for watching!

Thanks for watching, Regards Yurii🤗🇺🇦

I have no use for something like this... but I still want one as it's an absolute work of art.
Dude, you are a master, Great Job, love the choice of wood.
Really beautiful tool, and a life time piece that will help you create. For me that feeling of picking up and working with a tool you have made yourself, it’s one of the reasons woodworking is so special.
Beautifully executed, really enjoying this channel!
Thank you so much🤗
A true pleasure to watch a thing of beauty and perfect function being crafted by eye and hand.
Nice, good chisel work, I don't like how some people cut two pieces of wood and laminate the sides.
Agreed - this is the 'proper' way in my eyes. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with the lamination approach, it's faster and easier... I just don't like it 😂
Made a couple of planes by the shown technique, a mini shoulder with brass sole and an experimental scraper, very happy with both
You know those are some SHARP chiesels haha. Beautiful.
You created a beautiful tool! The surface it leaves should make you very proud. Well done.
Always love watching; almost a religous experience...cheers...rr Normandy, Fra.
Merci beaucoup🤗
Nicely done sir and a good wood to use. This will be a tool you can pass down to future generations. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much, I hope it will🤗Thanks for watching
Як подивитись Ваше відео - то все просто, наче сам би взявся та зробив! Але реально аматору краще не братись за таку роботу... Вподобайку заліпив!
Beautiful work and well made video. I want to make a wooden plane as I've inherited two Japanese blades that would do well in a plane like this. The project is intimidating but your work inspires me to give it a shot. Thanks!
Oh, too, as soon as I get a Japanese knife, I will also make a Japanese planer! Do not be afraid, the main thing is not to rush, I myself did not expect that I would succeed😉
When I was a kid in my country, our family lived next door to a carpenter who has a shop within his house. One of the things that fascinated me was to watch him use a manual wood plane to smoothen the wood.
Beautiul work as always. The wenge turned out nice when the finish was applied.
Thank you so much🤗 Yes, I applied shellac, but after the shooting it became more beautiful
Хороша робота, крутий вийшов рубаночок))
Nothing compares to a tool you've made, especially when it works!! Now you don't have to do everything with the Clifton! Nice work!
Você fez a lâmina ou reaproveitou uma existente? O trabalho ficou muito bonito como sempre. Parabéns.
Impressive to see this lovely little plane cutting smoothly through the wildly reversing grain on that last board. Well done!
I have no experience with Wenge wood and from your video it appeared to be a challenging wood to work with despite your eminent and skillful hands. It seemed very hard and somewhat brittle?
😊
The plane came out fantastic! Wish I had a beautiful plane like that in my woodshop - ten thumbs up! 😊
I've dabbled with Wenge, except my skill is laughable next to this guy. Wenge can be exceptionally splintery, and sometimes the grain has annoying waves (reversals) that catch & tear on a plane. This fellow has amazing skill, and impressively sharp tools. If I were to attempt replicating this project, I might switch to bloodwood which isn't as tough, but faaaaarrrr more forgiving to work with. Better for noobs like me haha 😂
I have worked with wenge a few times. Seems like one of those woods that if you just walk by and look at it wrong, you get nasty splinters from it..... And I mean really nasty splinters! Nice work.
I...I...I want this 😮 never seen a plane look so good, especially in my favourite wood....stunning work
Thank you so much🤗
Beautiful work and video as always. Thank you.
Absolutely beautiful work
You are very talented, beautiful plane, excellent craftsmanship and a quality video to boot. Great work, your a pleasure to watch.

@@gr_woodworking I have one my late Uncle made as an apprentice shipwright 70 years ago, along with his toolbox of the same era.
lovely! however, wouldn't you keep at least one site perfectly flat and square?
Perfect poetry in wood
Eres mi ídolo 👍 y me inspiras, lo mejor de la vida para ti! ✨
You deserve way more subscribers!!! Your work is just awesome!!! Simply amazing!!
The simplicity of the process, combined with the subtle refinements of the finished tool, are superb. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Merci beaucoup🤗
Wenge is such an amazing wood!
Absolutely stunning! Thanks for sharing
I never considered Cliffton until I started watching your channel. Now I'm thinking about adding one to my collection. As always, beautiful craftsmanship!
Sir, you truly insure!
For me this is your best work to date. It takes a real craftsman to produce a quality, properly working hand plane. Well done and thanks for sharing.
a handplane out of Wenge! You are a much braver man than I am.
Well done, beautiful work and precise hand tools handing!
As always a pure pleasure to see a fellow lefty working wood. This is a beautifully done project and professional looking video. Kudos!
Wonderful, but isn't that a smoother?
Excelente!
Love the asmr finish.
wonderful video! I really enjoy watching your content. I think an ASMR tool sharpening video would be fun to watch if you made it.
Nice, thanks for sharing
nice job! a beatiful old style tool
Just a beautiful thing - quite apart from being a wonderful and efficient tool!
Really nice shot too
Beautiful and I think I'll build one thank you
Beautiful work.
beautiful work, and result, Gretting from Uruguay!..
looks like in future videos you epoxied a brass plate to the bottom. Was there a negative to using this type of wood requiring the need for the brass plate?
Wenge is pretty tough so it probably isn't necessary depending on what it's used on, but a brass sole would extend the life. Also can be replaced if it wears, and looks great on dark wood in my opinion.
I tend to put brass soles on, but I've learned to solder pegs onto it and recess them into the plane body - just glued on flat they can drop off over time.
Very very beautiful
Beautiful job...inspiring me to dive into making a plane...haven't done it yet but watching you has been inspirational...thanks for sharing
Simply beautiful ❤😂😂😂
Seu trabalho é lindo, adoro ver seus videos

Salut GR très magnique bravo à plus JEAN
Very satisfying making a tool that is beautiful as well as functional. Good job!
Great project Yurii. It came out amazing.
Fantastic job! I know from personal experience how difficult it is to work with wenge. Respect 👍🏼😁
a lot of respect to making your own tools. very cool man.
Absolutely beautiful amazing work as usual you are a true craftsman it’s always such a pleasure watching your videos
Beautiful
Excellent!
Wow! Beautiful 😌
❤
Great job
Thanks for this. I was like "I want a jointer plane, but I don't want to spend 400 dollars on one."
Instead you can spend $400 on wenge and make one yourself!
@@erk9822 Tthat much wenge is probably about 30-60 bucks, and I'm not planning to use wenge.
Great video! Next should be one on your squares you have.
WAHOU !!!!! Nice !
Superbe rabot. Magistral..
Отличный рубанок. 👍
Wow I absolutely love it I need one of those in my arsenal ❤
That cute little tool, Well Done Sir.
Another amazing job from an amazing talent!!
Beautiful job! But you're not quite finished yet. You will want to grab a letter and number stamp kit and stamp your initials and date. I like to just to month and year. Even more fun in the long run is to also make up your own "maker's mark" stamp along with the date. Then 32 years from now you can look at your work and like I can do with my first plane that it's been around since 1991 and well used.
Золотые руки!
Bevel down without a chip breaker. Ideally the iron needs to have no sideways play at the sharp end but enough for hammer adjustment at the top of the sides.
Awesome job! 👌
Muito bom !
Só faltou as medidas.
Excelente trabalho.
Excellent!😀
Espectacular para hacerla
Bravo 👏
Beautiful work, Yurii! Amazing looking little plane!!! 😃
Have you ever tried a Shinto Rasp? Man, that thing is crazy... It removes lots of wood, but left a fantastic finish!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks a lot! No, I haven’t tried it, I don’t have any good rasps yet, but I hope to buy it soon, thanks!☺️
@gr_woodworking Don't worry, you get there! 😃
I haven't been able to buy tools for a good while as well, because of my business... But it's almost finished and I'm going to be able to as well. 😊
I wasn’t 100% sure of your channel when it first started showing up in my feed, but I’ve been watching with growing interest, and making your own hand plane, this is legit one of the most awesome RUclips videos I’ve ever seen. Keep going! Great stuff!
Высший пилотаж😊👍
