I love this woman, she has such an intense sense of...calm.
She is witty as f*ck and wow, she was matching Colbert word for word. it was a spitfire conversation. Stephen is the most interesting host and his interviews are always on point. Now I have to find some of Tig's stand up on RUclips.

There is a documentary on Netflix called "Tig" that is awesome. It made me then seek out her famous tragedy set that only audio exists of (hint: I finally found it on iTunes, it is amazing & totally worth the $). Long live Tig!!!

She's just one of my favorite people, not only because of what she's been through but for who she is and where she's heading. And Stephen is just the perfect host for her. Two really good people that managed to survive and thrive amidst the shit storm that is show business.

@@ZehenMusic I know this is a year late, but yeah, all those things happened within weeks of each other. She was very ill with an autoimmune disease (C Diff) then her mom hit her head and suddenly died, her girlfriend broke up with her and then she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a double mastectomy all within months of each other. Then, because of the cancer she was told she wouldn't be able to have biological children because the hormone treatments could kill her, she went through the treatments anyway and lost every viable egg they extracted.
So to see her now, happy and healthy and married to the perfect woman for her, with twins, it's truly an incredible story and she's an incredible woman. She doesn't really talk much about what a struggle she went through unless asked, but there's a great documentary called "Tig" on Netflix that's even better now with a happy ending!
I'm a huge Tig fan too, obviously, and I commented above Stephen is the best at interviewing her because of his start in improv. She loves to go left field and Stephen can "yes, and" with ANYONE. They're a FANTASTIC combination together! Would love a longer-form with the two of them.
Thanks for sharing this information. Just wanted to add that I think they click so well together because also, both are very, very intelligent. Their humor is not as pelvic-related, or teenagerish, as many others. Not to mention they each are very sensitive people. Stephen tries to hide his, but it's apparent in subtle ways. I think this is my all-time favorite interview of Tig's. And to think that as of 3 months ago I'd never heard of her. Thank goodness for RUclips. @@Mary_Jacobs
What brilliant comedic chemistry these two have. It's rare to witness such hilarious banter between two geniuses on national television.
Stephen's background in improv makes him the perfect interviewer for Tig. She seems to get such a kick out of keeping people on their toes, saying the most unexpected thing, getting people to believe something absolutely false, etc. I adore Tig Notaro and have watched almost every major late night host interview her and Stephen is the best at being able to roll with the punches and "yes, and" her sense of humor. Two of my favorite people that make me laugh 👍👍

Here's the thing about Tig all y'all, every single person I've seen "interview" her is unabandonly themselves. Completely and wonderfully having the best time with someone they clearly adore. She is so smart and so funny and so fucking real that from my seat it seems like I'm just watching really great friends have a great time with each other. I can't imagine them chatting at home any differently. She melts away any polished layers of Hollywood and self-promotion and PR and just brings out the real in people. I've never seen anyone have an affect on hosts that way. Never. She is warm, smart, funny and someone I would love to know. Cheers!!!

Been watching Tig videos all afternoon, she is my spirit guide.
The thing about Tig is you just have to roll along with her. She doesn't make it easy on the interviewer but if you can hang in she is funny in a very unusual and interesting way.
I "get" her comedic style, but I personally don't care for it. I did enjoy it in this interview but not her stand-up. Just my personal opinion.

I've always wondered why Tig has never really caught on like some other female comics. I mean, I know the audience for female comics feels generally smaller unless you're Amy Schumer or Iliza Schelsinger but even then any time I've seen Tig's performances the crowds are tiny. It's a real shame, she has such good delivery on her bits.
