Fun fact about the lightsaber colors. Blue means you're more of a combatant and Green means you're more in tune with the force. Red obviously means your with the darkside. And Samuel L Jackson only agreed to make these films if he had a purple one lol
You're in Britain, right? You do know that the police doesnt like people having any knives, right? A lightsaber is basically "a big OVERPOWERED knife" ... tl;dr Change your government (the bureaucracy)!!!
Yeah, just like the OG’s, the prequels were lightyears ahead of their time with CGI and visual effects, cause George Lucas pushed his tram so hard that they literally invented technology all the time on set, he also did this for the animated clone wars show, and now Dave Filoni is continuing this trend with deepfake, AI voices, and the volume/statecraft.
You mentioned the music was “Harry Potter-ish”. You aren’t wrong! The first two HP movies score was written by the same composer as this whole trilogy, John Williams. A true legend.
The fight between Obi Wan and Maul is like an homage to old Kung Fu and swashbuckler movies. The young warrior’s master is slain and he must fight the Big Bad all on his own. Only when the Big Bad is defeated can the young warrior become the new Master. Almost 25 years later still one of the dopest lightsaber duels of the franchise.
It’s a shame Obi Wan didn’t use his Force Run like he and Qui Gon did in the beginning of the movie. Who knows how much of Star Wars would’ve changed if he had just used his Force Run to get past the shield doors to help Qui Gon. Lol.
Anakin had no father cause he was concieved by the force, or rather Sidious, but actually the force, cause it gave Anakin the prophecy of being the chosen one, balancing out Sidious evil intentions and keeping balance in the galaxy by ensuring Anakin’s redemption in the end, just like our real world nature always survives and creates balance, no matter what damage and har, we throw at it. Climate change isn’t a threat to the planet, it can survive anything we humans could ever throw at it, but we can’t, very important difference.
I'm honestly amazed on how on point your comments on the Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan influence on Anakin were. That's exactly the difference creators wanted to portray. That's why in meta-discussions the fight with Maul is referenced as "Duel of Fates" because it decided the fate of Anakin. But that will be further explored in movies 2 and 3 :)
the key thing about the boy being the chosen one is that he will bring "balance". Think of it as how much % of the force is light vs dark. At this point the force is heavily unbalanced 99% on the light side.
@Waddles_Art that's absolutely not what that means. He brings balance to the Force by killing the Emperor, in Episode 6. Balance never meant equal shares between light and dark, there is no such thing.
Two fun facts 1) If you swap the boys choir who are singing during the parade at the end with a deep men choir you’ll hear them singing the emperor’s theme and 2) At the very end of the credits you’ll hear the imperial march and Vader’s breathing
Great catch about Qui-Gon dying being the thing that sealed Anakin's fate. He's the father figure Anakin needed. Obi-Wan agreed to train Anakin only reluctantly as a promise to his master and was more like a brother figure, not a father. Not enough to keep Anakin contained

To answer your questions about how the production and sfx are so far ahead, this was released in 1999. At the time, these sfx were the most advanced ever for a movie. George Lucas created and owned ILM (the premier FX house at the time, and still one of the best in the world). While ILM still did fx for films at the time, Lucas told them that Phantom Menace was the only film allowed to use their cutting edge techniques.
Anakin Skywalker is not the old guy they went to find, that was Obi Wan Kenobi who is The Jedi Padawan (apprentice) in the original trilogy they called Luke’s Father Anakin and who was Luke’s Father, Darth Vader

Obi-Wan's master was called Qui Gon. Also, I think that to understand Qui Gon's decision, you sort of have to imagine being in his position. Imagine you found a slave child and then scientifically proved that they were essentially a messiah. It's part of his religious beliefs that he is supposed to enable the Chosen One to balance the force. The Council advised against it, but they don't really have the actual authority to tell a Jedi Master that he cannot train someone and, deep down, they probably didn't really have the heart to stop him because many of them probably wanted the boy trained as well for the same reasons.

The moment when Qui-Gon on Maul are facing off behind the ray shield shows the difference between the dark and light sides. Qui-Gon meditates, settling his breathing and emotions. Maul tests the ray shield to see if he can get at his opponent, then keeps pacing to maintain his fighting rhythm.
Monica watches these movies using the Force. Predicting stuff just before it happens. Oh, and if you didn’t know, Darth Maul is Toad from the 1st X-men movie.
I watched the Star Wars originally in order episodes 1-6, but I am glad to see your reaction watching it how people older than me saw them, first 4-6 and then the prequels 1-3.
Monica: "If the kid had remain by the guy that passed away he'd be metored by someone that genuinely believed in him". That's absolutly on point, keep that in mind while watching the next ones. And keep always in mind that the jedi council isn't always right, that's what Qui Gon believed. Anyway fantastic reaction, hope you enjoyed John williams duel of the fates.
Obi-Wan admits in the OT he wasn't a mature enough teacher to handle Anakin, though he does his best. Qui-Gonn was one of the few people who could have trained him. He had a unique perspective amongst the Jedi that could have prevented the Clone Wars, too. His loss is a big deal in Star Wars. It's cool to see fresh eyes on this movie, still my least favorite but I love all star wars and it's cool to see perspectives evolve. I didn't love Jar Jar, but think it's cool people do now. He's growing on me. The initial confusion at the character was priceless, Lucas did weird things with accents and aliens in these movies.
I love the podracing sequence so much that I used to play the Nintendo 64 game Podracer all the time. I even built my own custom pod to race in the game. I still have the N64 system and my pod saved on the memory card.
The end fight is called duel of the fates 'cause it was the outcome of this fight that decided if Anakin becomes Vader or not. If Qui Gon would've survived Ani would've gotten the father figure he needed to grow up well, and if not he would get a brother that is not suited as Anakin's father figure.
4:50 - I never noticed that until recently, that right there was Force Speed power in effect, the way they zoomed away to the end of the corridor like Sonic the freakin' Hedgehog!
If you guys watch the animation Clone Wars Series, you will know what "Angel" Anakin is talking about. He did not try to smooth her, it's just he saw her as beauty not like any other he sees before. So he mistakenly her as an angel, that he heard people been talking about beautiful creature in space. To him she is beautiful unlike other girls from his place.
“He took the angel and went straight to the bedroom.” And Rico waving his hand, “your son will be fine.” Yall were some comedians in this reaction. 😂😂😂 Glad yall had fun, the reactions were better than the movie. 💀🔥
One of the many rules of the Jedi is that they are forbidden to have emotional attachments. Because Anakin was attached to his mother, he is more prone to the vulnerabilities of the Dark Side. Jedi are taken in at infancy before they know attachment. That’s why they initially rejected the proposal of training Anakin to become a Jedi.
The Force was Anakin's Father Shmi Skywalker was not married and had no Idea how she got pregnant (Virgin birth thing), There are only 5 years between Anakin and Padme He is 9 and she is 14 there was 10 years difference between Han Solo and Leia
29:50 - Gardulla the Hutt lost Shmi and Anakin in the bet .Gardulla is a she - that's the "she" that lost the bet to Watto. Anakins mom didn't lose a bet - she was the slave that was lost in the bet. Lol. Just to clarify. Feel like Shmi was getting a lot of undeserved hate
Anakin's future wasn't set in stone. I wholly disagree with how the Jedi treated Anakin's entire situation. From start to finish. If Qui Gon had lived things would've been quite different. I know there is debate on the whole chosen one thing, but the way I see it, he did bring balance. Just not the way the Jedi thought, which is the trouble with prophecies, from the assumptions and thinking it'll go the way you think, to self-fulfilling prophecies like we see with Padme and Anakin in ep 3. (btw, not a spoiler - I've seen their 3 reaction)
I know I'm a little late to the party but I just found y'all's channel. You mentioned wondering if qui-gon had survived whether or not Anakin would still have become Darth Vader and whether obi-wan is up to the task of training him with his level of maturity and experience. The music during the final duel between maul, obi-wan and qui-gon is called "Duel of the Fates," because this duel decides the fate of Anakin Skywalker. If qui-gon had survived he very well might not have become Darth Vader. But he didn't, so in essence the dark side won right then and there. Anakin's fate was decided long before he turned to the dark side.
Fun fact, in the scene where Subulba attacks Jar Jar, there’s a Jedi sitting in the background at one of the tables watching, Quinlan Voss, he’s in the clone wars but also the Expanded lore, you’ll spot in one of the scenes when Sebulba jumps onto Jar jar, he’s the one with the yellow mark across his nose and long hair
Qui-Gonn probably checked to see if Anakin was healthy, too. Though, he was confirming his suspicion that he could be trained as a Jedi also. Obviously, he's going to be looking for illness, too.
Honestly, I'm very proud of how much you guys remembered and refreshed on since there was a half-a-year gap between you watching the originals to the prequels. This movie was mostly an introduction to the characters and I hope you guys catch on to EVERYTHING that happens to Anakin which seduces him to the dark side. Overall the story of Star Wars is technically the story of Anakin and the tragedy that is his life, so get ready for some heavy stuff to happen.
Star wars is not solely about Anakin. Each trilogy has its own set of characters and conflicts that they must deal with. The original trilogy is more Luke's story, the prequel trilogy focuses on Anakin and the sequel trilogy looks at Rey. That being said, there are a lot more characters that have important roles in the movies too. It's not a story about any one person, but a living universe that changes and evolves.
@@JoshuaBloom01 That's okay that you believe that but Lucas even said it himself the entire point of the 6 movies was to follow the "Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker" which was the name of the story before it was titled Star Wars. Yeah the Original Trilogy follows Luke's perspective, but who is the hero in the end, Vader is.
@@GrimBrother um, no. That can't possibly be true, George Lucas didn't even know he was going to make a trilogy when he was making episode 4, when it was just star wars, let alone the prequels. George has also gone on record saying his earliest ideas involved Luke, not Vader, and he was originally called Luke Starkiller.
@@JoshuaBloom01 Well considering the 6 Star Wars movies we got. You can't possibly watch them and say oh yeah, that's Luke's story LOL. Luke literally didn't do anything lol.
@@GrimBrother No, just learned to be a Jedi pretty much by himself and brought his father back to the light side so he could kill the emperor. Yeah, nothing. And this isn't even going into what he did in the expanded universe.

Keep paying attention to your feelings about how proud you are of yoda sensing the danger in anikans training. Consider distrusting anikan could effect anikans training and overall upbringing in general. Consider that yoda said "great fear i feel in his training..." isnt fear a path to the darkside?
I think It all was meant to be. Yes, without obi-wan and his master's stuborness Darth Vader would never be created...but It is also true that Darth Vader did saved the galaxy at the very end. He was the one who killed Darth Sidious when he was hurting his son in episode 6. He gave his life to do so. He is the chosen one🥺💖. LOVE this franchise, LOVE your videos!! ✨ Hope you like the other Star Wars' movies as well...
Many people don't like Darth mauls death because he didn't have to hesitate or taunt obi wan. However he is a Sith and can be manipulated by his extreme emotions. In that way it's understandable he didn't kill obi wan asap. He's literally evil and his logic would be skewed to the manifestation of the dark side of the force.
The amount of hate the prequel trilogy gets is sickening. Yes, there is some bad writing, questionable acting and downright awful CGI but all of that is utterly overshadowed by the brilliance of this modern day Shakespearian Tragedy.
not sure if someone said this but no that is not face paint on darth maul, that is how his species looks, there's a yellow alteration of it instead of red too

Rico, Qui Gon believed that Anakin was the chosen one, he was right, Vader killed the emperor and brought peace to the galaxy
Anakins mom wasn't gambling. They were gardulla's slaves originally.
Let’s goooo I’m so glad you guys are watching Star Wars now. 🔥🔥
Since it doesn't look like anyone else said this, Boss Nass (the leader of the Gungans), is played by the glorious, famously hammy BRIAN BLESSED.
Monica: I swear I know that actress.
Jane from the thor movies: am I a joke to you?
“He took the angel and went straight to the bedroom.” And Rico waving his hand, “your son will be fine.” Yall were some comedians in this reaction. 😂😂😂 Glad yall had fun, the reactions were better than the movie. 💀🔥
I love people saying Anakin was very monotone in ep 2 and 3, when Padme and her double/bodyguard were way more monotone in this movie.
ive always wished they'd make a nascar-esque podracing show, where its just podracing for an hour and then interviews with the racers at the end
Mons right, Anni stalling his pod racer was the turning point to him becoming darth Vader
Obi-wan/ Ben Kenobi was the old man from A new hope that Leia was seeking out in her hollogram.
Anakin does bring balance to the force so qui gon training him was the right thing. You should remember him killing the emperor in ep 6
Hope yall watch Rogue one after Episode 3, takes place right before Episode 4
Really enjoyed your review guys, thanks!! and looking forward to episode II
Fun fact, in the scene where Subulba attacks Jar Jar, there’s a Jedi sitting in the background at one of the tables watching, Quinlan Voss, he’s in the clone wars but also the Expanded lore, you’ll spot in one of the scenes when Sebulba jumps onto Jar jar, he’s the one with the yellow mark across his nose and long hair
fun fact darth maul did jump on the plane but they cut that part out
50:14 there’s actually more to that fight. Mail did jump and engage in the duel but was kicked back down
32:28 I think the guy on he right her is Greedo. He's the one who tried shooting Han at the bar but was shot before he managed to kill Han.
Holy fuck Monica gets it. Qui Gon stays alive we most likely don’t get Vader.
He's smol, he has no Dad, his name is Ani. He's Little Orphan Annie
21:26 guys this is set 32 years before the events of episode IV or the first of the old trilogy you watched.
Guys I just want you to know anakin mother wasn’t the one who lost them in a bet they were slaves to some lady who lost both of them in a bet
I watched all the movie with you guys...I really enjoyed it...I was having a bad day...but then Rico said "We don't need that negativity" (4:10)...and I felt like that was for me. Thanks!
1:17:11 This lightsaber of Ben Kenobi’s master which he saves is used by Luke 35 years later to construct his new lightsaber used in episode VI - Return of the Jedi
Watching you suffer through these is just sadistic fun for me. Some people aren’t made for movies.
Tatooine average day temperature is about between 50 to 60 celsius. Temperature on Naboo is about 20, the same as their ship I presume. So year, it would be about a thermal amplitude of 40 degrees... quite brutal.
Well, the doors, if they made one of those underwater spheres, would probably be an airlock. Kinda like Sandy Cheek's tree dome from SpongeBob.
The force literally impregnated anakins mom
I never noticed before that Palpatine was the only one who referred to Padmé as “Your Majesty”, which is appropriate for a queen, rather than “Your Highness”, which is appropriate for a princess.
Don't forget to remember to watch everything.
If qui Gon didn't die Anakin would not have fallen to the dark side
Did you notice how Sebulba tried to con with the chance cube? Four sides were red and only two were blue. He reeeeally tried to keep Anikin.
Watto but never noticed that! Cool if true
Can’t wait for you guys to watch episode 3, the one that bridges the gap to the original trilogy.
Darth Maul was played by Ray Park a known martial artist and acrobatic specialist. Those moves yall saw are him performing them spectacularly
Monica must've watched this movie or she's a movie genius, no way she just speculated Padme is the real Queen😅😅😅
Tbh it’s not that hard, Monica just pays attention unlike other reactors who continuously keep talking.
@@Tooba-K123 Like bro, don't you just hate it when they talk over the movie, That's why I enjoy Monica and the likes of Jen(Holden Hardman) because their reactions are actually authentic, not for the views....
@@Kal-El105 exactly that’s why there’s rarely few reaction channels that I like. Monica, Holden, White Noise Reacts, Spartan and his gf. Although I feel these days White Noise have started talking over dialogues but at least they still give attention to details.
Most fans from the original trilogy hate jar jar. I'm just glad they phased him out over time
cant wait to see your reaction to the other 2 and you realizing more and more along the way
i sadly never got to experience it like this cause i saw them out of order when i was pretty young so i cant even remember which one is the first i watched haha
but this makes me feel like im seeing them for the first time a little bit
also pretty impressed with monica finding out some of the stuff
Anakin and his mom were lost in a bet by their owner. The mom wasn’t gambling
The amount of hate the prequel trilogy gets is sickening. Yes, there is some bad writing, questionable acting and downright awful CGI but all of that is utterly overshadowed by the brilliance of this modern day Shakespearian Tragedy.
not sure if someone said this but no that is not face paint on darth maul, that is how his species looks, there's a yellow alteration of it instead of red too
Darth Maul is not dead if you guys want to know, he just been cut in half. He died after Luke turn into teenager and on Tatooine.
Your "Don't Luke back" joke made me laugh out loud. It may be my favorite line from your channel. Love watching you guys react and a little disappointed Monica isn't doing Daredevil with you. I know it's a little violent for her but it is great storytelling. At least have her do Jessica Jones with you.
Your reaction with Darth Maul's second blade was EXACTLY like how everyone else reacted watching for the first time 😂😂
I think what Padme Amidala meant by not condoning an action that would lead them to war is she doesn't want to start a war not fight a war
1:23:55 Ben (Obi wan) Kenobi’s master was Qui Gon jinn
to this day i still say "okey day" instead of okay all the time. it's just so much more fun.
Loved your guys reaction! And I just wanted to say that you guys were spot on with qui-gon. If he lived anakin wouldn't have turned. I would explain more, but that would spoil some things from the next two, so have fun with the rest of the trilogy! I can't wait for you guys to get to Revenge of the Sith.
Lightsabers are real they are made by hacksmith on RUclips you should make a reaction video to it.
I love her comments so much!
50:55 you guys will find out why Obi Wan changed his name to Ben while watching over Luke!!!
The more that I watch this movie, the more I convinced that Quigon was the best jedi
Darth maul was an apprentice like obi wan was.
These 3 movies take place before the old 3 movies made back in 1977+ so watching them again after these 3 will work perfectly.
their is a channel called hacksmit they made a real working lightsaber
Fear Leads to Anger - Anger Leads to Hate - Hate Leads To Suffering
Yet it’s the Jedi’s fear that sealed their fate😢😂
@@Tooba-K123 I blame Windu, He was a total D!ck
This is where the fun begins
