  • 8 years ago this C30 was parked in a field at my parents place in Nebraska after blowing all of it's transmission fluid all over the highway while hauling cattle. My dad and my brother nursed it home and it's been sitting ever since. Now I'm going to attempt, in 2 days, to get it running and drive it 250 miles home to Wyoming so that I can put it back to work. I started this revival with no idea if it will even run, or what actually happened to the transmission other than it was puking fluid everywhere. I have a box of parts and thats about it. Will I be successful in getting this classic Squarebody Chevy back on the road? Will it run and drive?

Nice truck! I have a 79 GMC 1ton dually just like it except mine is a two door. Mine is white with the burgundy two tone. It has horses painted just behind the back door pillars so we named him Roy cause it reminds us of Roy Rogers with his white and burgundy cowboy outfit lol! Love the truck!

Put the seal on in front of the bad seal. Looks as if there is enough shaft on the shift shaft to seal the leak.

1979 was the only year for the grille & headlamp bezels with those designs together & also the first year for the fuel filler doors. 1980 was the first year for square headlamps & last year for round headlamps. The square headlamps came standard on models with the Silverado & Sierra Classic trim levels & optional on the others.

My dad had a 1980 Chevrolet Scottsdale shortbed 4x4 that had the square headlights. Someone told him it was the optional exterior Silverado trim package. But I always thought the Scottsdale was pretty much a Silverado minus the carpet and tailgate trim panel that went across it.

@@kevinrichards3288 no he bought it from the old man who originally bought it new. My dad bought it back in 1984. It was a 4 speed, the old man had knee problems and couldn't drive it. It was good condition, look like it just rolled off the lot

@@kevinrichards3288 I've seen a few square headlight 80 model Scottsdale. And I've seen a few round headlight 80 models also. The difference I've noticed in the 2 was the square headlight ones I've seen had the full chrome trim like most of the 2 tones had. My dads was 2 tone brown and tan. And the round headlight 80s I've seen had the one strip of trim that went down the side. Maybe if you got 2 tone you got the full trim with square lights and others not?

@@davidhicks2178 yes square headlamps were optional on Scottsdale models & the other trim levels too except the Silverado & Sierra Classic ones which were standard on.

Just Subscribed. If there is debris in the trans pan. only one place that it came from. Its the material from the clutches. Only one thing to do. Pull the trans and rebuild it. Or swap it over the a granny 4 speed. It likely became overheated.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by
reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated
central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down
all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From
2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as
exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox
oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no
investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even
created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. "Bundesabgasbespaßungsverbot" in German. :-/
