A mechanic from a ford dealership said to possibly unhook the power to the module and if it runs fine it could be left alone?

I dont mind firing the "parts cannon" when the part is $15, but its not so easy when the part is $300+ I'm wondering if this module could be the problem?
Hello Sheryar, I researched the C1214 code. Items to verify: Brake fluid leaks. Wheel cylinder vibrates due to uneven wear of a brake rotor. Foreign matter enters solenoid valve. Line pressure drops during air bleeding. Brake pad is replaced. Rotor is replaced. If brake pads or brake rotors replaced recently, Toyota suggest to perform air brake bleed procedure. This can be performed by using a scan tool with those capabilities. I hope this helps.
I can’t confirm if it does. I have not run into that problem. However, I believe the abs module may send an error to the ECM that can affect the cruise control indicator light.

When you hear the humming sound, place your hand on the plastic housing of abs module. Make sure the humming sound is vibrating from abs module. The pump is separate from the module meaning the module has nothing to do with the actual hydraulic abs pump. No light, there is a high probability that the module is good regarding with your vehicle’s abs pump leaking. Focus on replacing pump. Module is good. In my opinion.
I just tested mine. I'm having the same issue. However, I get about 9.8 volts at pin 16, instead of the 11.8 volts that I got from pins 9 and 25, does this mean my abs module is bad or does the low voltage at pin 16 mean something else?
Double check your battery voltage. If your battery voltage was close to pin 16, then I will suggest to check your battery. If you have 12.4- 12.6 volts at battery, but 9.8 volts at pin 16. That circuit has large resistance somewhere.
@@mike5585 No, I don't believe it does. My reason. There is no option to program to an exact VIN for truck. Its not like the newer Mercedes benz or other German cars. Ford keep it simple.
@@mike5585 his truck is too old (01-04). New model vehicles, if you buy a new ABS module for your newer truck (I have an 09 that would need to be programmed) will also need to be programmed. There are refurbishing places that will take your old one and re-solder those internals Hella cheaper than a new one, and it WONT need reprogrammed because it already came off your vehicle. And yes, you can still drive without that module...just won't have ABS....which you already don't have if your ABS light is on.
The best advice I can give you visually check abs sensors to your wheels. Make sure they are not damage. Also, lift up each wheel to check for loose wheel bearings. This can cause ABS light to come on. If everything checks out good , then hook up scanner with ABS code readings capabilities. Once you get the code then you can research it on google. I do not think you need to reprogram a used module. As long it is for same truck model. No cero que necesites reprogramar el modulo. Mientra sea para F150.
First check the fuses mentioned in video. If fuses are good and no power to blue plug. I suggest to subscribe to alldatadiy for your vehicle, in order to get the wire schematics. I wire schematics anymore for this truck. It’s the most accurate way to find the issue regarding no power.

What's up friend! What problem can cause having ABS light on?
Abs wheel sensor, faulty wiring or connections, wheel bear, or faulty abs module
I HAVE ABS codes C1198, C1214, C1206, C11974, C1210 WHERE CAN I FIND THOSE FUSES?
The only fuses for the abs or relate to the abs are mentioned in the video. The codes you are different than the issue I had to work on. However, I highly suggest to purchase a subscription to alldatadiy for your vehicle. This will give you the troubleshooting info needed to properly diagnose your codes.
On my 2000 ford expedition 4.6L V8 Triton XLT my ABS light came on and there is a humming noise by my brake fluid reservoir on the driver's side. The noise is heard also while I am driving and the humming noise is still heard when I turned the vehicle off. No one can tell me anything.
I'm going to check my fuses, but that noise is still going on. I disconnected the battery cables and that's the only way that noise stopped. Now when I get off work I'll have to connect the battery cables to drive.
Could this be the same issue? Any help would be appreciated, from a female whose a newbie at fixing my own vehicle because I've been ripped off by a mechanic and that's why I fix my own now.
When you hear the humming sound, place your hand on the plastic housing of abs module. Make sure the humming sound is vibrating from abs module. If not, you continue inspect where the humming noise is coming from. Get codes from abs module. This will give you a more accurate direction to find problem.
@@713jtmechanic8 Thank you for the response. I'll have to remove the mass air flow/air filter assembly to feel the abs module and follow your advice.
Thanks again.😊
@@713jtmechanic8After putting my hand on the abs plastic housing, the humming noise/vibration is coming from the abs module.
Can you tell me what's the best way to check the abs module?
Do I use a multimeter like you have and check it like you did in this video?
@@713jtmechanic8 Also after checking my fuses #102 and #23 they are both good.
If I remove fuse #102 that will stop the humming noise from the ABS module.
Is it safe to leave that fuse out?
Sorry for all these questions.😊
@@flowersfam3462 yes, If you have the same codes. This troubleshooting video will help.
HOLA BUENAS TARDES TENGO UN F150 MODELO 2000 ESTANDO CARRO APAGADO SE QUEDO ENCENDIDA LA BOMBA DEL ABS, PUEDE SER EL MÓDULO EL QUE SE DAÑO? SALUDOS
Que tal amigo. Recomiendo verificar los códigos del sistema ABS para obtener una mayor precisión en el diagnóstico del problema. Sin embargo, lo mas probable es que sea el modulo.
Would this problem cause your truck to stall at idle or at slow speeds?
Stalls at idle or slow speeds. Check throttle plate. It may dirty.
My truck will fluctuate high idle then low, up and down. And sometimes turn off at stop or slow idle. I'm getting same codes as this video. Runs great at driving speed. Anything else you can think of?
@@laineyalfaro1275 if you are getting same codes, it’s possible the solenoid connections in the module have loose contacts or solenoids shorted. This can cause unusual problems. Those codes indicate a faulty abs module
So..... If I just yank that little plug off the side will it disable the ABS system and give me brakes that work like they are supposed to?
I am not sure if brakes will work normal, if ABS is unplugged. I never attempted. In my opinion, I don't recommend to unplug.
@WorldRenownedCFE 🎤 I have a 2001 that doesn't have the 50 fuse on & my 2003 does have it on but no issues. Does not having the fuse on cause the code to show up?
@@AR-ks7qw I believe it’s fuse 13 and fuse 25 that are for the ABS.
Where are the Ford E1500 ABS Relay, thanks!
Not sure. I have not worked on the E150.
My pump is leaking. But no abs light. Would that mean the module is good?
The pump is separate from the module meaning the module has nothing to do with the actual hydraulic abs pump. No light, there is a high probability that the module is good regarding with your vehicle’s abs pump leaking. Focus on replacing pump. Module is good. In my opinion.
@@713jtmechanic8 Thanks.
I have 2005 ford expedition Code B1676-20. What can this be because I have changed wheel speed sensors and I still get this code. Thanks
B1676-20 comes up as a no ac clutch engagement. Are you having problems with the ac?
@@713jtmechanic8 Yes. Started having AC problem three months ago. Clutch issues yes.
@@713jtmechanic8 Does this mean I need new ac clutch? Thanks
@@713jtmechanic8 The scanner says ABS B1676-20 Battery Voltage out of Range.
Having a hard time unscrewing the screws on the module . I have the t20 but not getting to unscrew
It’s probably seized. Are you going to resolder the solenoids and reuse module? I replaced the module from autozone. It continues to work.
Yeah man that’s what I’m doing but I’m having a hard time at 8:16 . I have the t20 torx but it does not unscrew
You may have to cut the head of screws and reseal with a silicone type of sealant.
Yeah today my 2000 ford 150 was giving me problems the obs light came on and when i turned off the vehicle, a noise from obs module started .
@@user-lt6hz7jh2p I trust you will repair the problem. Unfortunately, you are going to need extra patience’s. Good luck man! Take your time😊👍✌️
Isn't the EBCM extremely expensive over $1000.? please advise
Are you regarding to the abs pump assembly?
Or module I replaced? I paid 245.00 at autozone. Plug and play.
@@713jtmechanic8 So would you imagine that's my issue. I'm getting code c1185. Or since I'm getting any voltage there, it's my abs module?
@@coreyg3228 you are getting voltage. Most likely the module is faulty due to the code.
@@713jtmechanic8 Turns out my battery was dying. I'm not sure how it happened right when I was testing. Thanks for your help.
Get a 9 volt for the smoke alarm
Where did you buy your ABS module from?
Autozone

Don’t you have to reprogram the abs module ?
Better change the battery on that smoke detector *chirp*
Lol 😂! It’s changed. 😊👍
do you have to progrm the modul?
It was programed when I purchased the module.
@@713jtmechanic8 Did it have to be programmed four your exact vin?
Any following steps to troubleshooting the light? Im going to do my 97 f150 4x4 and its previous owner was less than caring about it.
You can also go to Alldata.com and pay 40.00 for one year subscription to gain access to service manual and troubleshooting procedures for your 97 f150. Hope this helps. Thank you Humberto for taking time to write a question. Buena suerte con los reparaciones.
Curp!...........
Do you need to reprogram I'd your using a used module
I also been driving it for a while after pulling the fuse
I do not think you need to reprogram a used module. As long it is for same truck model.
No cero que necesites reprogramar el modulo. Mientra sea para F150.
So what happens when there’s no power at the blue plug I’ve been hunting online everywhere I can’t find anything on no power at the blue plug.
First check the fuses mentioned in video. If fuses are good and no power to blue plug. I suggest to subscribe to alldatadiy for your vehicle, in order to get the wire schematics. I wire schematics anymore for this truck. It’s the most accurate way to find the issue regarding no power.
@@713jtmechanic8 I already did the fuses are fine the only thing I didn’t do is dig out the fuse boxes to see if the wires were rotten.
@@713jtmechanic8 yeah I don’t usually repair my own vehicles anymore I’m only doing this because I can’t find a decent mechanic after mine had a heart attack however I’ll be going to my third mechanic on Monday to have them look at this. Everybody wants to replace the nice expensive pump and module but nobody wants to diagnose and tell me why it’s not getting any power to it…
Definitely, on the right path to visually inspect. Check under the fuse box and visually inspect for any corrosion, wire damage, loose connections. Good luck 👍
Regarding going to another mechanic. Ask the mechanic if uses all data, Identifix, or Mitchell on demand. These are the sites with wire schematics and troubleshooting procedures. If they are not comfortable with reading schematics be wary.
