Correction: What Sally said in the article I referenced isn't correct Jellyfish just told the members that they can go home and will be called when they are needed. Which still doesn't sound good. gugudan is SUPER talented! And this video was suggested by a ton of people. What do you think will happen to gugudan and who should I do next?
@@vickyg8412 they have been on hiatus since 2018 I think, Mina has been acting and MC-ing and Sejeong has been releasing solo songs. IDK about the others because I'm not really a GX9 fan and I only know Hyeyeon, Mina, and Sejeong.
@@vickyg8412 no, not yet. They just haven't released anything since 2018. Sejeong's been doing her solo activities with acting and variety shows, Mina was the MC for Music Core but recently stopped and had done some acting, Sally is currently on Produce Camp 2020, Haebin is doing musicals and Mimi just opened up a RUclips account and that's probably it. The other members haven't really done much in 2 years. Only Sejeong and Mina are really getting to do anything.
As someone who’s a fan of jellyfish entertainment artists jellyfish really wasted such talented group for some reason he couldn’t manage gugudan well he wasted such girls with golden talents
Well, sadly they didn't pick up attention. I actually gotta be honest, I was surprised how many comebacks they received despite performing so badly in charts, but I was still glad for every comeback they received
sejeong really made her own way out of this and now after the success of The Uncanny Counter and Business Proposal, she's just gonna get so BIG! so proud of her!
All of their songs are really good, b-sides included. Their stages are all great too, outfits, concepts and all. I wouldn't say they're wasted but it's just that people don't give them attention which is super unfair when we know the amount of fans who show up for certain groups.
It wasnt clear in the vid but Gugudan's whole concept is that they're a theatre group!! So every comeback has a completely different theme or "act" (hence the albums being named act.1, act.2, etc.) because that's what they are ! Different plays put on based on different stories like the little mermaid, Charlie and the chocolate factory, greek mythology, and so on
Exactly!!! I just mentioned this. People demanded a gurl crush concept/ something more consistent but that’s not what Jelpi or being a concept-idol is. The music and concept and style is supposed to be changing every comeback but Noooooooo “fans” no longer wanted to be fans because the concept was inconsistent and Gugudan is a flop without SejeongXMina I know VIXX had a long era of dark concept MVs and a super long era of dark lyrics, but you gotta admit that each song was different and unique. Gugudan could’ve done something similar but exploring various genres/ styles first was a better idea so that they could see which concept worked best. For VIXX, it happened to be dark and mysterious. I also didn’t like that people thought that some of the MVs were too bizarre or they didn’t like the song enough to analyze it. I admit that Chococo was weird but its story was unique(Idol life and struggle with dreams. There’s a theory in the comments of the MV) and it gave me old kpop vibes I honestly sometimes wish that Jelpi didn’t send them to produce. (Or more members could’ve went too) If they hadn’t gone, they could’ve built themselves from the bottom up and every member would’ve been appreciated more than they were when Gugudan first debuted. Sejeong would still be popular(have you seen her charm?), but other members like main vocalists Soyee and Haebin or Hana and would be known and it wouldn’t be “sejeong and friends”. Someone probably thinks “If they tried to build themselves from the bottom, they never would’ve made it” No, I think that they would’ve had a chance. The public would’ve been shocked by the visual line (lol every member, even haebin) the dance line(Hana, Sally, Hyeyeon, Mina, Nayoung?), and the vocal line (also everyone. Sally has an amazing voice). The public wouldn’t think that the other members are useless or talentless. They are all talented but never had the chance to prove it well. When the next Act is released, I hope it slaps haters in the face with talent. Jelpi did try, the public just didn’t care.
Their debut song just wasn’t it. They couldn’t get the attention of the general public. Also after IOI‘s disband the group was known as Sejeong & Mina and Friends and their agency tried to use this but I think it backfired. They weren’t known as a whole group. Such a shame because they are this one group with the most main vocal materials. Literally five members could easily be main vocal. My most favourite songs of them are A girl Like me and Not that type. I just really really love those songs.
Latest update : Jellyfish Ent just announce that gugudan will officially disband tomorrow. This is really sad to hear but i hope other members can continue their dreams and all the best for them. such a waste talent :(
Im fan of produce 48 and izone, chungha ,Somi ... And of course I know ioi ,weki meki .. but I'm just here about to digging thia group.. it's they disband already?
i’m not sure you’re aware of their concept, they actually have a movie concept which is why they changed concepts so much! the names of the albums are inspired by movies, and so are some of the music videos!
it was actually a theatre concept if i'm not mistaken, as they would be changing concepts based on pop culture and the arts. a girl like me was based on the narcissus painting and not from a movie.
that's why i was bothered by the idea that they "abandoned" their previous concepts or changed directions... in kpop these days there is an expectation that groups will keep the same concept all the time but it wasn't always that way!
Yes, they have a theatre concept, but the theme/story for each play can be inspired by movies, novels, mythology, or whatever. And it seems that InternetsNathan is not very aware that every Gugudan comeback should be different from the last comeback. Every time they comeback with a theme, we will be sure that they will not comeback with that theme again in the future. A very difficult project to be honest, but also very interesting.
Actually Gugudan is probably the most MYSTERIOUS case of low popularity. The line up is amazing, their talent incredible and mostly their songs and concepts unique and all hit worthy. I wouldn't say their talent is wasted, because what they do is great. It's just that people don't know them for some incredibly mysterious reason. Chococo is a huge bop, the mv full of creativity and simply one of the best releases of 2017 yet it was super slept on. I just don't even know what is happening with kpop fans at this point. Gugudan should obviously be one of the queens groups.
i think its because of their number, since most fans are already multi so they feel like its bothersome to stan a group with many members, and they dont really appear in mainstream media like videos that would introduce the members
Do you know oh my girl?, they are like that too, they were not very popular at first and their songs is also very unique, OMG just have that thing that everyone like, other idols also like them very much, and look at them now, they gain lots of popularity not to mention the blooming goddes maknae arin😍, i guess gugudan company should learn from WM hahaha
I think its cuz their debut was overshadowed by IOI and the bad press about members promoting in 2 groups simultaneously, most people that even remotely cared about gugudan's debut were IOI fans to begin with, and I don't think they really bother looking up all the members aside from the PD101 three. And along with gugudan there were also DIA, Pristin, cosmic girls and weki meki that had IOI members, and IOI fans supported them at first but ultimately thats a lot of other members to learn about if they really wanna stan the groups. I think ultimately it's just very saturated girl group market with fierce competition (they were all competing against twice, mamamoo, blackpink etc) and company could've promoted them as a group better, it was clear as days that jellyfish only cares about sejeong and mina
I think because they're pretty, but still lack of "visual".. idk how to call it "charming"? Second, the songs are not easy listening or unique or bop Third, i think their fans used to be IOI fans.. but now IOI disbanded and fans are gone or just focus on sejeong and mina
Jellyfish should have debuted "SeMiNa" as a group first and capitalized on Sejeong and Mina's immense popularity. I think that would have brought the group far more success. Post this, they should have launched another girl group with the rest of the members with SeMiNa as their seniors. For a company that had never debuted a girl group before, they took too many risks with gugudan.
If they debuted SeMiNa first, the trio would heavily overpower and outshine the other members bc the public would prefer them over the newly unrecognised members. I personally feel that the trio should’ve debuted separately from the other members. Let SeMiNa be a group on its own, take some lessons from promoting them and then use them to promote the whole other group of unknown members as if it’s a sister group. that would’ve been better I suppose.
@@ShinyGemini well anything is better now. Plus when they debuted semina, it was long after they debuted gugudan Gugudan debuted on the 28june 2016 SeMina debuted on the 10july 2018 Maybe unnecessary yo be 2years apart?
The problem with a lot of groups that spawned from the Produce series is that the individual members that debuted in those groups like i.o.i, Wannaone, Iz*one, and probably X1 is that those individual members get such a cult following that they basically outshine the other members to the point where those members get more brand deals and perks than the other members that didn't go on Produce. And it's not to say that it's their fault or anything like that, but it's also their managements responsibility to treat all the members in the group fairly. In the case of Sejeong and Mina they've gotten so many opportunities that their other members haven't gotten like MC gigs, acting, commercials, and solo music. I honestly see the group disbanding at some point with Mina and Sejeong staying with their companies because they've benefited from them so much.
Yes you're so right. That's why I think Yuehua made an amazing move by debuting EVERGLOW before IZ*ONE disband. We got to know the members with time and now I love them as much as I love Yena. We all know that the most probable is that Yena will become part of EVERGLOW and now they will have a powerful fanbase cheering for them.
chungha, wjsn and weki meki are doing well... DIA, gugudan, and pristin (RIP) are not 😔 somi is a bit undecided since she only has one comeback. and sohye is not involved in music anymore.
Just a clarification, Nathan: The girls weren't kicked out of the company. Sally had actually said that the members were allowed to go home, and that they only come back to the dorm when Jellyfish said to. Not the...best thing to hear either, but they weren't told to leave Jellyfish at all. EDIT: Just wanted to let you know since some sources like Koreaboo & AllKP*p are already twisting her words & *falsely* saying she was "...kicked out & told never to return".
Yes! Thank you for clarifying! Also they have been going on vlive and all the girls strictly referring to themselves as Gugudan. They have it on their Instagram profiles, still communicate with fans, and Sejeong always refer to herself as Gugudan Sejeong. Honestly they have been holding on for so long I think they will definitely have a comeback. Just don’t know when and why but let’s wait for them 😭
Yep....actually I am a fan of her girl group bon bon girls 303....coz I hav seen the show....and it just seems to me that she feels more comfortable and happy with the bonbon girls than gugudan.....I'm really happy for my Sally liu Xienning
@@pradeeppulintharakunnel3531 Same I am also a tangzhi(bonbon girl 303 fandom name) and as I watch her with her member(bonbon girl 303) she's actually look like she's more happy and I feel like she have more freedom now
And now they're officially disbanded. These girls have too many talents and each of them are so beautiful and talented. Please Support their solo activities
@@indah2927 CJ E&M also known as STONEMUSIC ENTERTAINMENt, was a shareholder with 30% of jellyfish but now jfe and CJ E&M have parted ways therefore they have to transfer the rights to jellyfish thats why the mv's were deleted
first, the concept is a mess a small agency will not have a win over a newly built concept (which is theatre). thre is eve nno emphasis on that. even i dont know that except for the fact that i read the comments here jellyfish is not also aproblem. its the audience they tried their best to prmote but it overshadowed other members. now i understand why jyp didnt include somi into itzy. i mean somi is too popular already.
Grace Wood exactly. I think that if the girls didn’t go to produce, they would’ve only been on the diary tv show and then build themselves up, similar to Vixx and VERIVERY being on a show when they first debuted. They did ‘school trip’ but Sejeong and Mina were already really popular and sadly overshadowed the other members
@@gracewood6768 Somi was actually in the lineup for itzy, but somi Left Jyp before she could debut, because somi really wanted a solo career but a debuting in a group was the best Jyp could do
Rlly? I think jellyfish did pretty well in promoting them to begin with the whole produce idea. The company’s rather small so I wouldn’t blame them too much for anything. I might get a lot of hate for what I’m about to say, but in my opinion, I think they should’ve debuted nayoung, sejeong, and Mina originally while they still had that hype from produce. The other members r not bad, but in terms of approval from the audience, I think it would’ve been best for them to just debut as three. Plus sejeong and Mina (And nayoung since she had a lot of publicity as well) would overshadow the rest of the members while the other members also took up lines, space, etc that could’ve been utilized by the most popular three, for that WOW factor. By the time Semina came about, the general audience already lost interest most of their interest in them from Produce 101 with all the new seasons
The Boots is literally one of the best songs of the 2010s... i don't understand why that song never received more attention. I remember watching the music video seconds after it was uploaded and I was screaming! i watched it at least 10 times in row. not promoting these girls is so sad and such a waste of so much time, effort and TALENT.
Sally didn't actually said that that was a bit of misinterpretation... She said that her company told her to go home and there is no need to come back until they plan new schedules
@@lilyofthevalley8224 but then she said that the members pleaded them to stay which is what I heard from many articles? Idk if THAT'S true or not but that's really sad if it is.
I'm an SM stan and rarely see vocally talented girl group outside SM nowadays except for Mamamoo. However, the intro is WOW! never thought they could harmonize like that. Sadly, they are underrated. Some Kpop fans don't know the value of vocal skills/ harmony, pure talent and value RUclips views only. 🙄
Sorry that not everyone likes slow songs. I despise slow songs or songs that don't have big beat drops. I always say this but y'all sound like Kpop boomers
yow neighs You saying nobody other than sm gg has great vocal? (Except mamamoo). Child please. Listen to ailee iu and heo solji then sit your ass down lol
Ozamataz Buckshank they were probably talking about girl groups and not solo singers. Which of course the solos you’ve mentioned are fantastic, adding taeyeon, kyuhyuk, wendy etc.
"I don't see any other K-pop group doing a capella like Gugudan." Same bro, same. Their harmonization is just gold. And I can't seem to decipher why they are under appreciated. 🤷🏻♀️
this dude just does like surface level research lol he didn't even mention nayoung almost making it in ioi or the fact that wonderland is actually their best charting song making it to the top 15 on melon at debut which is actually insanely good.
Not to mention Jellyfish didn’t announce they were going to debut a girl group towards “the tail end of I.O.I’s contract”, they announced it one month after I.O.I’s DEBUT and debuted gugudan like three weeks after the announcement. Like, he just got actual easy facts wrong.
Annalisa Norman Just like how in the video where he covered Miss A he missed the INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT fact that Suzy was highly favored compared to the other members, it was literally one of the biggest reasons as to why they disbanded 😑
right people only care about popularity now jellyfish may not had enough money to keep them going just like what happened to pristin and they could have been a hit but they were thrown away like trash and just used
they had five awards as a girl group. they have over 120K sales on album. they are not flops, all their concerts were all sold out. they're just mistreated by their own company.
Chisom Chantel that’s like comparing VIXX to EXO(sry. They were the first groups that came to my mind) Both are amazing, but one is from a smaller company. EXO is more successful than the other(big advantage thx to SM), but nevertheless VIXX still managed to make a name for themselves. They’re not as popular, but they are still very successful.
Sejeong and mina are succesful as an individual but their group is the one who didn't get acknowledged by the public. All ioi members are pretty much doing very well.
@@hotfalconer3314 ioi members? sejeong has international and local CFs, magazine cover and features, acting jobs, variety shows, her solo music is doing well too (she already had 2wins under her belt)OSTs, chungha definitely the most successful in terms of music career, she has international and local CFs and magazine cover and feature, somi has pretty much good solo career too music career and CFs and magazine cover and feature, sohye has doing very well with her acting career plus endorsements and cfs, yeonjung(wjsn) dooyoung& yoojung (weki meki) has been doing well with their respective groups, mina as you said acting and endorsements, same as chaeyeon. pinky has great career at china, nayoung more focused as a model as of the moment. i mean they are all doing great in terms of acting, variety shows, music and CFs.
i still remember going to a gugudan Showcase in Singapore, and did a hi-five with them. Sally was so nice to speak in Chinese to the Singapore fans, but now i heard she said Jellyfish told her to go back home and not return, and she is without work since late 2018, that she joined China's Produce Camp 2020 the other girls besides Mina and Sejung all seems to be inactive also. its really sad. i only wonder what will happen to VERIVERI if they fail to make it famous after RTK.
I agree. I came to know about her after watching the Uncanny counter. There is that ost meet again which literally took my heart away, I searched for it and it shocked me that kim sejeong is the one sang it, composed it and wrote it. Of course I know mina from hotel del luna. They are such talented people.
Sejeong did more for gugudan than jellyfish ever did!! The talent was all there but all the problem lie with company management...sadly like many other groups I’m pretty sure sejeong even paid off the groups debt🥺
Don't say like that... people don't like to hear that...most gugudan fans hate Sejeong...I agree with line distribution..but do they have to hate her for getting cfs and drama?? Even sally acted in a drama before..even mina acted in more drama than, hana's brand reputation are no joke.. haebin sang more ost than Sejeong..but for them it's all Sejeong's fault...trust me this why I gugudan is the only group I unstanned in all post ioi groups
Sejeong and Mina gained their place in IOI because of themselves, yet people are hating for sejeong and mina for being the stand out in the group while they're actually having the burden to lift the group
Sejeong was earning so much in late 2016 and 2017 and she was kind enough to pay off her entire group's debt from her earnings, mina might have helped but sejeong probably did the most since she had so many jobs, she was kind of the it girl in 2016/2017. I was so sad to see her house in i live alone doesn't seem like she is doing well financially anymore but still these gugudan fans continue to hate her when she has sacrificed herself for the other girls. Can you blame jellyfish for not investing in the group anymore?? There last sales were horrible. If they con't do well physically then they should at least do well digitally but they don't even chart anymore. They are making jellyfish operate in loses of course jellyfish won't allow them to comeback anymore. On the other hand sejeong's solo did well digitally and sold the same amount gugudan's last comeback did plus she wrote and composed all but one of her song plus it's less styling cost less people to divide the profit. Jellyfish is a business after all they will do what brings them profit.
I think something is missing: Gugudans debut also got a lot of backlash because Jellyfish pulled Sejeong and Mina out of ioi in the middle of comeback preparations (what a man), to debut gugudan with wonderland. eitherway stream a girl like me and support sejeongs comeback.
I literally was just thinking about Gugudan tbh. Pardon the essay below: If Gugudan had debuted with the right song (something along My Boots), they very much likely could've made it well past where they are now. It's not a crime that Sejeong and Mina were already famous, as that can raise up a group... IF done correctly. Think WJSN, where they capitalized well on Yeonjung's popularity. Long story short, they had a wrong concept at a wrong time, so the public kept just focusing on Sejeong and Mina. Mind you, Sejeong is the very first person to shout out her member's abilities. In every variety show they got, she makes it a point to always say that her members' skills needed to be acknowledged more. And, she always took a backseat during talks, only coming out when necessary. Even as recently as Sejeong's latest variety appearance (I Live Alone), she made yet ANOTHER mention of inviting and eating with her members at her home. Let me be clear, I don't think that blaming Sejeong/Mina is anywhere close to being right, nor is it what Sally meant. I do think Jellyfish whiffed on their strategy for Gugudan. They couldn't find how Gugudan could make their mark until it was too late. To day, I think that "My Boots" was LITERALLY a comeback too late. (Could you imagine this being their debut track? Sejeong highlighting the start of their MV then revealing all her other members in a grand fashion? CHILLS.) Lastly, Gugudan SEMINA. I think this group had potential to succeed, but I do think a quartet/quintet would've worked better here. Keep in mind that this was around the era of TWICE--having a 4-5 person, vocal-oriented group would've been a great contrast. They well could've been a next-gen MAMAMOO. I think it's one of the most unfortunate stories in KPop, for sure. This group literally had all the things going for them, even more than what Chungha and Somi had, arguably. Their talent was simply mis-used, ultimately leading to missing the window.
Ikr I feel like if they maintained a specific sound, (which is dif from concepts) they would've had a better outcome. A girl like me and The Boots def suits them the most
That was a mistranslation, they never told sally not to come back, they told all the members they could go home and come back to the dorms when the company says so, still sketchy but definetely isn't the same.
I've never seen any girl group doing good a capella after Mamamoo, Red Velvet and Lovelyz so I thought gugudan was a real treasure in the K-Pop industry. It's such a shame they disbanded and it's unlikely but I really really hope they be given another chance to comeback with a good song :(((
But that’s also MNet’s fault for not writing the contract clearly. If they didn’t want the members to participate in their main groups, they should’ve said so😂😂😂
All your research was actually right, except this one 10:07 Sally said (really sugarcoated) in her interview for Produce Camp 2020 that Jellyfish told them to leave their dormitories and go home bc they will call them again when it's necessary. Jellyfish didn't kicked out Sally/any member from the company. It was all a rumor created for non-gugudan fans to gain attention for the girls... in the wrong way, and at the end this ridiculous rumor made it to that Koreaboo article. Maybe gugudan's future is unclear but we'll have to wait for an official statement from Jellyfish Ent. or Gugudan will end up as F(x). Sorry for any grammar errors, hope you can understand. Please, support every Gugudan member no matter what🙏🏻
song mingis glasses We need to stop blaming the companies for everything, Jellyfish tried with them multiple times. It is the public that failed them big time with the lack of attention and engagement they got. Yes, maybe Jellyfish could of done some things differently but y’all can’t deny they didn’t try....
Jellyfish did their best, it was up to the fans and netizens to make it work. Sadly even with all those concepts they tried, they failed to make it work.
@@Tran809 Jellyfish never stuck with one single concept for more than a comeback with Gugudan. That's why the group didn't seem to have a character in the eyes of the public. CLC's case was similar, but then Cube started giving them a solid concept by releasing Black Dress, Me, and No. That's how CLC has been able to stay around.
Get Successful with Andito Sticking with 1 concept doesn’t always work. A lot of groups are going to try different concepts, but not only that you failed to acknowledge that gugudan was trying to push different references in their comebacks “The group of nine girls with nine charms”. They aspire to interpret famous work with each albums which explains why the albums have Act in the titles . That was their concept, Wonderland with The Little Mermaid, A Girl Like me with speaks of the greek god Narcissus in which was painted by Caravaggio an Italian painter of the 16th century. After followed by Chococo that obviously came from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory...Act 4 was The Boots which is of course inspired by the Puss in Boots fairytale, and lastly with Not That Type which was based of Ocean’s 8, all 8th women (due to Hyeyeon hiatus) showing of their different strength and charms. As you can see the concept was this all along, the public didn’t take time nor effort to appreciate the messages throughout their releases at all, which therefore proved my point with what you just said. The company tried to make a meaningful yet sophisticated and complex girl group... Now people would argue that this concept is what set them for failure in the first place. Perhaps, but like I said u can’t put all the blame on the company. Nothing will ever be only 1 person’s fault, life isn’t black or white, it is complex and by just saying that proves ur lack of understanding of the current situation... K I’m done done ranting now 😂😂👍👌✌️
In my opinion I feel like Jellyfish should have given more emphasis on their ability to do full on acapella. (Have yall heard their Waltz Acapella for The Boots it's hauntingly beautiful) That would have helped them to stand out and give them a unique edge. But hey thats just my thought
Hana leader noona was my favorite there, and she's going to be in an upcoming webdrama with Kaeun from AS so you definitely know I will for sure watch it. Either way, it's sad to see how much Gugudan's talent went to waste, also didn't help their comebacks were timed so badly it's almost as if Jellyfish wanted them to get demolished by the more popular GGs i.e RV, Twice and IZONE 😭. NTT and the Boots should have won on music shows
i’m so sad. they are so talented, they released ABSOLUTE bops, they’re latest comeback and album were simply perfect, they’re amazing and criminally underrated. idk what jellyfish entertainment is doing at this point
It is not that misterious, actually... Jellyfish was too rushed with their debut, formed a group that seemed too big from what was expected, picked a weird name for it, picked the wrong concept for their debut (when they would have the most attention) and then failed again when picking their single after “Girl like me”. After that, no one was interested anymore... They had no consistency in the releases and newer groups got the spotlight. The girls are talented and did their best, but the company failed them hard here. I pity all of them because they surely deserved better. If they had started by showing off their vocals they could be huge and very respected, I’m sure.
I was not at all surprised that Sejeong got her 1st win against the groups she went against. She's a power vocal, to say the least about her many talents. Uugh Jellyfish is sloppy AF another waste of time company. Wow this is total bull. Always wasting these idols's career.
Im not a stan but I love them, they're super sweet and their songs are bops...I hope jellyfish does something to keep the group alive and don't give up on the girls.
not everyone has a talent like them. please please please don't waste them even though I'm not their fans I've heard their songs and yup they're talented!!!
@@maria-vr7gg Sejeong appeared on episde two on busted and was always a main detective .Mina appeared in episode ? And always appeared in an episode .How do people not know this just google BUSTED! and HOTEL DEL LUNA .Look the casts and they will be there
You know what?? Jokes on Jellyfish Entertainment, cuz they lost the most beautiful vocals in the WORLD. That acapella can cure anger, I'm not even kidding. But it's just another case of entertainment companies can't handle talented women in this industry😔😔. Hope gugudan the best and hopefully they are all happy ❤️❤️❤️
After IOI I was EXTREMELY excited to support and see Sejeong and Mina grow in their own respective group but sadly it didn't work out!! Sejeong and Mina did grow alot in their acting careers with dramas like School 2017 and Hotel Del Luna but I wish they were more successful in their idol careers aswell!
AJHSGAJDA IM SO FRUSTRATED FOR THEM!! Imagine being a trainee for years, debuting fir not even like 2 years and then being told it was all for nothing and you wasted your time.
Because they didn’t get the concept??(dreams coming true) They mostly didn’t like the concept, but I honestly like that they started with something simple
i was shocked because im live in Philippines when you said they have a rough time and not famous in korea. because in ph ever kpop fan atleast know gugudan...
I mostly know Lui Xiening due to “Chuang 2020” and I knew of Gugudan cuz of Sejeong and Mina from produce. I didn’t know Sally was in it until I looked her up and the fact that she said there was nobody calling her name and she couldn’t show off her talent in this group makes me thing that they use this group just to waste their talent I hope Liu Xiening debuts with the China group she can find success with them at. For Gugudan the fact that they haven’t been promoted is just dumb their company made a group for a reason I know other members are staying busy with acting and solo projects but they really should’ve been promoted well! Jellyfish has been this way towards Pristin I hope this group doesn’t end up like what happened with Pristin but it seems it will. No matter what happens I know these girls are talented let’s hope things get better for them Fighting! Liu Xiening FIGHTING!
I'm glad you're interested in them! They really are an under appreciated group so I hope you get into them and support them (BTW, there are HILARIOUS and very talented)
There concept changed so much because of the gugudan theater thus explaining why every album was named “Act.1/2/3/4/etc. there concept was changing concepts if that was promoted enough it would help ppl understand why there concept changed so many times.
This is so sad. gugudan was the first kpop girl group that I stan. A couple of weeks ago I realized that I can't find any gugudan's songs on Spotify. I don't know if it's only me...
They debuted way too early imo. They should’ve waited for ioi’s popularity to die down so sejeong and mina wouldn’t suffer from overexposure (and essentially overshadowed the other members)
Most of the respective company from IOI are basically greedy and impatient, IOI itself didn't even last exactly 1 year. Yet their company started taking their girl to promote on a diff group while still being IOI
they're the talented girl group that can go far. i've follow gugudan before their debut till now. and i'm disappointed when people didn't notice them but only sejeong and mina. btw their member (mimi) was a cast in drama Extraordinary You. (i'm sorry for my bad explaination in english)

Do u think she is saint...this is why in all post ioi groups I unstanned gugudan.. gugudan stans are too selfish enough to hate ioi members Mina & Sejeong
@@rohanrash953 of course it's good that Sejeong does solo. But it happens at the same time as other members have nothing to do and Jellyfish doesn't try to do even the smallest thing to show that they care about the group. So if you look this way, having 1/8 of the group doing well and 4/8 doing nothing is still not good. And no need to blame Sejeong for going solo, but it doesn't really have to mean that gugudan is completely abandoned like now.
My favourite group of the 3rd generation and despite their insane talent, Jellyfish finds a way to fuck up their careers. When I heard about Sally's interview my heart just sank. I'm now expecting them to disband, and just hoping that if this happens they can reunite elsewhere. You just can't get these vocals anywhere else, and I love their changing concepts and their members (Nayoung's brassy timbre is EVERYTHING)
Gugudan is probably most vocally talented group they should comeback now with a concept like ballad pop same as btob.... I seriously don't understand why people sleep on them...
as much as i love the girls, dont get me wrong but their songs dont give me the feeling of constantly wanting to listen to it. If jellyfish had given them better songs then i think they could've been really popular, they girls have enormous talent!
thank you so much for this video. gugudan have done so much for me the past few years and it's breaking my heart to see this happen. hyeyeon was always my bias, she's the reason i found the group in the first place, and my heart shattered when she left. and now to see the rest of the group looking like they may face the same thing, it's heartbreaking. thank you so so much for bringing attention to what's happening
The fact that China is head over heels for Liu Xiening is so maddening, she's been praised by all mentors including exo members!!!! wtf!!! shes LITERALLY GONNA MAKE IT TOP FIVE IN THE GROUP AND BECOME AS BIG AS IOI IN CHINA. HOW DO YOU MISSUSE TALENT LIKE THAT??!!!!

All of their songs are really good, b-sides included. Their stages are all great too, outfits, concepts and all. I wouldn't say they're wasted but it's just that people don't give them attention which is super unfair when we know the amount of fans who show up for certain groups.
It wasnt clear in the vid but Gugudan's whole concept is that they're a theatre group!! So every comeback has a completely different theme or "act" (hence the albums being named act.1, act.2, etc.) because that's what they are ! Different plays put on based on different stories like the little mermaid, Charlie and the chocolate factory, greek mythology, and so on
Yeah, personally I think that their concept was great! It allowed them to constantly change concepts and styles
I rmb I saw their cait sith album and instantly liking the boots :)
yeah I didn't think anyone really got that concept.
Act 5 depicts on Gen Z culture
Exactly!!! I just mentioned this. People demanded a gurl crush concept/ something more consistent but that’s not what Jelpi or being a concept-idol is. The music and concept and style is supposed to be changing every comeback but Noooooooo “fans” no longer wanted to be fans because the concept was inconsistent and Gugudan is a flop without SejeongXMina
I know VIXX had a long era of dark concept MVs and a super long era of dark lyrics, but you gotta admit that each song was different and unique.
There’s a theory in the comments of the MV) and it gave me old kpop vibes
I honestly sometimes wish that Jelpi didn’t send them to produce. (Or more members could’ve went too)
If they hadn’t gone, they could’ve built themselves from the bottom up and every member would’ve been appreciated more than they were when Gugudan first debuted.
I just really really love those songs.
i see you everywhere i-
you are everywhere lmao

i’m not sure you’re aware of their concept, they actually have a movie concept which is why they changed concepts so much! the names of the albums are inspired by movies, and so are some of the music videos!
it was actually a theatre concept if i'm not mistaken, as they would be changing concepts based on pop culture and the arts. a girl like me was based on the narcissus painting and not from a movie.
They're supposed to be a theatre group lol, so each album is an act like in a play
that's why i was bothered by the idea that they "abandoned" their previous concepts or changed directions... in kpop these days there is an expectation that groups will keep the same concept all the time but it wasn't always that way!
Wait so what was the theme of I'm not that type?
Loudeeerrr
Second, the songs are not easy listening or unique or bop
Third, i think their fans used to be IOI fans.. but now IOI disbanded and fans are gone or just focus on sejeong and mina
Ikr they took way too long to debut semina. They could have been one of the top groups in the generation with their unique style
Plus when they debuted semina, it was long after they debuted gugudan
Gugudan debuted on the 28june 2016
SeMina debuted on the 10july 2018
Maybe unnecessary yo be 2years apart?
Maybe this was foreseen by JYP with Somi and Itzy? =/
@@tjm. That's what I'm thinking. But Somi left JYP on her own will and Yuna replaced her.
Itzy is very popular though
It didn't happened to cravity or wjsn or cix, just examples

chungha, wjsn and weki meki are doing well... DIA, gugudan, and pristin (RIP) are not 😔 somi is a bit undecided since she only has one comeback. and sohye is not involved in music anymore.
Just a clarification, Nathan:
The girls weren't kicked out of the company.
They just told them to leave the dorms correct?
Yes! Thank you for clarifying! Also they have been going on vlive and all the girls strictly referring to themselves as Gugudan. They have it on their Instagram profiles, still communicate with fans, and Sejeong always refer to herself as Gugudan Sejeong.
Some of y’all are forgetting that Gugudan was ready to debut BEFORE IOI happened

Even sally acted in a drama before..even mina acted in more drama than, hana's brand reputation are no joke.. haebin sang more ost than Sejeong..but for them it's all Sejeong's fault...trust me this why I gugudan is the only group I unstanned in all post ioi groups
both sejeong and mina helped the members pay their trainee debt
If they con't do well physically then they should at least do well digitally but they don't even chart anymore. eitherway stream a girl like me and support sejeongs comeback.
I got gosebumps when i heard Gugudan singing "The Boots".
I literally was just thinking about Gugudan tbh. Pardon the essay below:
If Gugudan had debuted with the right song (something along My Boots), they very much likely could've made it well past where they are now.
CHILLS.)
Lastly, Gugudan SEMINA.

Its so sad that they told sally not to come back to korea, butttt she's going to debut in produce camp so support her! Her name is Liu Xiening.
*^Chuang 2020 - you should put the name of the produce camp so people could go watch it and vote.
Omg! I didn’t even know she used to be in gugudan!!
That was a mistranslation, they never told sally not to come back, they told all the members they could go home and come back to the dorms when the company says so, still sketchy but definetely isn't the same.
markly no she said “When I asked when I should comeback they said not to.”
It’s so sad that four of the IOI members got disbanded twice
I've never seen any girl group doing good a capella after Mamamoo, Red Velvet and Lovelyz so I thought gugudan was a real treasure in the K-Pop industry. It's such a shame they disbanded and it's unlikely but I really really hope they be given another chance to comeback with a good song :(((
This group its one of those weird stones. But they never get the attention of the public.
its so werid becuz they are so talent. Probably becuz of the music they release.
One main reason gugudan got a lot of hate on their debut was that ioi hadn’t disbanded yet
But that’s also MNet’s fault for not writing the contract clearly. If they didn’t want the members to participate in their main groups, they should’ve said so😂😂😂
@@Melody-zp9vx more like Msnake
All your research was actually right, except this one 10:07
Sally said (really sugarcoated) in her interview for Produce Camp 2020 that Jellyfish told them to leave their dormitories and go home bc they will call them again when it's necessary.
Please, support every Gugudan member no matter what🙏🏻
Pristin was already disbanded, now gugudan. And expect the DIA too. That was really something 😥
FYI Gugudan is not disbanded !! they are still resting
Sally? She is probably either fired or terminated contract at least
MrWadewynn where did u get that false rumor? Did u see it?
DIA will not disband. They struggle yes,but disbanding? Heck no
@@dowonlee9518 They just disbanded 😭
Jellyfish wasted them big time.
song mingis glasses We need to stop blaming the companies for everything, Jellyfish tried with them multiple times. It is the public that failed them big time with the lack of attention and engagement they got. Yes, maybe Jellyfish could of done some things differently but y’all can’t deny they didn’t try....
ChocoMilk jellyfish never bothered to push gugudan as a whole group so yes we’re blaming them
Jellyfish did their best, it was up to the fans and netizens to make it work.
Honestly I feel like they tried their best during that era but still couldn’t get much attention. I don’t know why :(
Hana leader noona was my favorite there, and she's going to be in an upcoming webdrama with Kaeun from AS so you definitely know I will for sure watch it. Either way, it's sad to see how much Gugudan's talent went to waste, also didn't help their comebacks were timed so badly it's almost as if Jellyfish wanted them to get demolished by the more popular GGs i.e RV, Twice and IZONE 😭. NTT and the Boots should have won on music shows
After School's Kaeun is another tragic story of how companies fuck up.
Please red velvet twice blackpink izone are popular
Hana yeppuda!!
What would be the title. I will watch to support Hana

i’m so sad. they are so talented, they released ABSOLUTE bops, they’re latest comeback and album were simply perfect, they’re amazing and criminally underrated. idk what jellyfish entertainment is doing at this point
It’s so sad to see gugudans talent go to waste, even tho I don’t know this group I can say that they have awesome vocals!

You know what?? Jokes on Jellyfish Entertainment, cuz they lost the most beautiful vocals in the WORLD. That acapella can cure anger, I'm not even kidding.
What I hope more is on their song thou..😔😔
AJHSGAJDA IM SO FRUSTRATED FOR THEM!! Imagine being a trainee for years, debuting fir not even like 2 years and then being told it was all for nothing and you wasted your time.
I hope people will support gugudan when they comeback with Act.6 ,but for now please vote for Sally on produce camp 2020. Thank you~
We do like Gugudan here in the PH. I remember hearing 'Not That Type' EVERYWHERE. I wish they would get the attention they deserve
I know wonderland isn't like the most original song but it's really good, why do people dislike it? :(
Because they didn’t get the concept??(dreams coming true)

Thanks Nathan!^^
1 week ago I was sad that I haven't found a video about gugudan on your channel but finally it's here!
Not that type was and still one of my all time favorite kpop songs ever by a girl groupe these girls are just so underrated
Gugudan released bops and were all talented. They were just mismanaged by Jellyfish
Yes but it also contributed by the influence of IOI. Can be seen by the other groups of IOI former members.
jellyfish is not even terminating their contract, just leaving them until their contracts end. This sucks
I have no idea who they are but Nathan is talking about it so I’m interested now
I'm glad you're interested in them! They really are an under appreciated group so I hope you get into them and support them (BTW, there are HILARIOUS and very talented)
You should check them out! Two of their most popular songs are 'the boots' and 'not that type' which are so good
Wow that's sad af

i have been waiting for someone to talk about how their talents were wasted and finally!! thank u for the vid

@@a_rie.-. JOIN THE STEPCHICKENS @chunkysdead
They debuted way too early imo. They should’ve waited for ioi’s popularity to die down so sejeong and mina wouldn’t suffer from overexposure (and essentially overshadowed the other members)
Not to mention sejeong and mina need to quit ioi 2 month early to start promote gugudan
Most of the respective company from IOI are basically greedy and impatient, IOI itself didn't even last exactly 1 year. Yet their company started taking their girl to promote on a diff group while still being IOI
you always make godly content🙌🏽🙌🏽
they're the talented girl group that can go far. i've follow gugudan before their debut till now. and i'm disappointed when people didn't notice them but only sejeong and mina. btw their member (mimi) was a cast in drama Extraordinary You.
(i'm sorry for my bad explaination in english)
"calling gugudan underrated is in itself underrated"... love this... they so deserve so much more...
I loved Gugudan since debut and I was so sad when I saw Sally's interview. They deserved so much better
So sad they had so much potential plus they came from a company that produced one of the best concept group Vixx
No vixx no Gugudan
I love Sejeong, she seems to be doing fine solo though so that's good
@crystaltan so what do u want when company gave her solo she will use the opportunity...no one just sit say no to opportunity ...u people are selfish stans..may be Ur bias is not her but asking her not have solo cb ..when her company ready to give her chance?? Do u think she is saint...this is why in all post ioi groups I unstanned gugudan.. gugudan stans are too selfish enough to hate ioi members Mina & Sejeong
@crystaltan u will fail the class even though u studied just because ur friend failed ?? Put yourselves in their shoes..
Sejeong is so talented, I'd definitely stan them if I had known them sooner
Thank you for this video. I always loved Gugudan and wish that they have a new comeback
Thanks Nathan actually I wanted to know bout this group I m new to kpop thanks for making this video 😊💜
Except on wonderland i they all good song. Wonderland is bad starting point for the i guess
My favourite group of the 3rd generation and despite their insane talent, Jellyfish finds a way to fuck up their careers. When I heard about Sally's interview my heart just sank. I'm now expecting them to disband, and just hoping that if this happens they can reunite elsewhere. You just can't get these vocals anywhere else, and I love their changing concepts and their members (Nayoung's brassy timbre is EVERYTHING)
i've stanned gugudan since their debut and they quickly became my ult group. it's honestly hurting me so much to see them fall apart.
whoah this channel is the absolute best way to keep up with EVERYTHING. i keep wanting to watch more and more. thankyou Nathan for being so keen!!!
I will not leave them!!!! You're such a good host of this video! And you're right Gugudan needs us to help them spread their Golden Talents!

I seriously don't understand why people sleep on them...
today (30st december) jellyfish ent announced that gugudan is disbanding on the 31st of december.
as much as i love the girls, dont get me wrong but their songs dont give me the feeling of constantly wanting to listen to it. If jellyfish had given them better songs then i think they could've been really popular, they girls have enormous talent!
thank you for bringing them up omg it’s like everyone forgot about them
thank you so much for this video. gugudan have done so much for me the past few years and it's breaking my heart to see this happen. hyeyeon was always my bias, she's the reason i found the group in the first place, and my heart shattered when she left. and now to see the rest of the group looking like they may face the same thing, it's heartbreaking.
thank you so so much for bringing attention to what's happening
The fact that China is head over heels for Liu Xiening is so maddening, she's been praised by all mentors including exo members!!!! wtf!!! shes LITERALLY GONNA MAKE IT TOP FIVE IN THE GROUP AND BECOME AS BIG AS IOI IN CHINA. HOW DO YOU MISSUSE TALENT LIKE THAT??!!!!
