@@K_8T singing is anything that has an attempt of a melody... even bad singing or off note is still singing, but being CAPABLE of singing is different from being ABLE to sing. Anyone can open their mouth and sing, but not everyone is capable. if you sing on key but your vocal quality, flow and skill is on the floor, then sorry but you can't sing. you're just barely hanging on
In all fairness there are a lot of actual kpop idols who can’t sing better than this live either, and usually just lip sync, or get very few lines in song, or just given rap parts (they often don’t even write themselves) etc. So I think it’s kinda understandable why they might think they can make it just from looks/dance skills/general charisma alone. Plenty people have done it after all
@@camelliasinensis219 this is why I can’t get into kpop, except for 2ne1. The song is trendy and the dancing is good, but it felt more like the agency and marketing are more geared towards their charisma and look. I guess that is why they are idol. But I have face blindness so this doesn’t faze me lol. I’m more attracted to the vocal aspects of the entertainer. It shouldn’t be surprising that kpop lip sync live tho because they have to dance too. And most of the fans are scary because I felt like they have this para-relationship with their bias/idol or something. It brought about greed and jealousy. Majority of them aren’t music fans! They are there for their idols face.
when Edvasian said she's super popular I thought "why tho? her face bothers me so much". And seeing that her popularity is based on looks I get it even less. She has a joker smile and a very weird face shape. I do not get it, but good for her I guess
That's the thing. Most of you guys MADE her win by focusing on her, making viral comments and tiktoks about her, etc. No one even knew the other contestants because all anyone ever talked about was Kelly. Obviously she needs a lot more practice, that's clear. But y'all need to stop giving these people you hate all this attention. Positive or negative, attention is attention. It wasn't a shock she debuted. She was the only one anyone ever talked about.
I actually do and don't understand this about SK when it comes to kpop (I guess it applies to more stuff but I don't have the knowledge). I mean, it is a fact that south Koreans are obsessed with perfection but it doesn't make sense if they're only looking if one person is pretty when in their debut they're going to complain about how their voices are horrible. But SK people are obsessed with their appearance and looks. They push the image of their country is perfect and wonderful and is rotten with corruption and nepotism everywhere
The APT performance 💀 Edit: On the show an APT performance sounded interesting and got first. I think the reason is because TXT Huening Kai sister was in it.
WARNING: this is an OPINION! Please don’t come for me. I’ve been in the K-pop sphere since I was 12 and I am 28 now. I know OLDER groups before K-pop became so popular world-wide. So I know things are gonna be war, but I knew Lea before Kai and Hiyyih. Everyone is saying it’s because of Kai that Lea and Hiyyih are winning these things but Lea Debuted in Viva in 3rd generation Kai in Txt 4th and Hiyyih in Kep1er 4th gen. So it’s just a thing right now. And Yes, APT was popular because of Lea, Seonyeo, and I can’t remember the other girl, but HER VOICE WAS AMAZING! Not kelly.
My guess is they're not gonna be an idol /idol/. I think they're going to be a group who releases half-assed music on youtube and doing live on tiktok. It's very unlikely to have them do any music shows or have interviews with press and media. Their public appearance will be very minimal i think. I doubt they will ever release an ep or even an album. They will only be a social media idol group, so their lack of rosters with actual talent problem won't give them much troubles

She thought she would never debut again because of her age but when she saw an opportunity she decided to take it and I don’t blame her.
Tbh the hate is kind of crazy, but a huge part of the vitriol is that the content house Kelly was in is owned by the company holding this survival program in the first place. It's rigged for her to make it into the final lineup no matter what, and that's what has people so upset.
that kelly girl genuinely should have never applied for this ... like imagine subjecting yourself to the eyes of vicious kpop stans the company set her up fr like ik damn well they're not gonna protect her beyond turning off tiktok comments lol
Um, why not? She's pretty as hell and K-Pop is now a really shallow industry largely based on looks, just like South Korea in general. This is what happens. Also, hate never seems so bad when you remember it's mostly teenagers and obsessive weirdos giving it out.
@@ZariaTudor1same. I also hate how toxic people online are misusing the word nepotism. Like the huening family never owned the industry and put lea there to debut automatically🤦🏻♀️ I do feel bad because I really like her as an artist and she is talented

I am 25 years old, and I recently watched a 13-year-old get chosen as an INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE cricket player for the national team! I didn't feel bad for myself because the KID IS DAMN GOOD!!
some 20 years ago I visited my brother in a different city and there happened to be an audition for one of these shows so I went to see what it's really like and...boy was it eye opening like we sang in front of cable guys and other staff, there were no cameras, you'd have to go through 1-3 rounds to even be allowed to sing in front of the real (TV) judges I had to sign a form that said they could use any footage of me however they liked and I wouldn't be able to sue them
I am HOWLING. The performances you showed were basically the ol' American Idol cringe reel. On the other hand, as someone who enjoys seeing legitimately talented people succeed, it's pretty depressing to see people who objectively cannot sing win a contest like this - even if the contest is a bit of a joke.
i understand why the girls joined this 'reality show'. they're all adults and we all know how kpop companies are about that, i just wish it wasn't such a joke.
Back in 2017, I recall seeing Eli Kim (U-Kiss) on a season of Mr. House Husband. It was quite eye opening, how brutal the kpop industry is in regards to their family life. Of course, the label sAiD that his marriage & family wouldn't affect his job, but.......
They can kiss their dream goodbye. No offense. Time passed, kpop survival shows are getting tough, in the real debut environment though, even groups from big companies struggles nowadays
my theory is that they won't be idols in the traditional sense of the word with award shows and performances, but will just post mediocre songs on yt once in a while and do a tiktok live occasionally. cause ain't no way
Just last night I was thinking about how overly produced Korean RUclips content seems to be, with all the 5 cameras, 3 PDs, intense editing, elaborate sets, etc. This is what happens when they have none of that.
The Philippines attempted something similar with Beyond Zero. A PPOP boy group made up of TikTokers. When they debuted, they were dragged for not singing live and for their dancing being out of sync and lacking energy. It turns out, that 30 second dances on TikTok did not translate well to doing a whole song. Their singing was also below "the Filipino standard". It was considered idol-level. The company put a lot of money and hype into their promotion, but once the people saw the product, they lost interest.
How to become a K-Pop idol in 2015: 1. Practice hours a day before auditioning that you will get more skills. 2. Audition to an agency and only most talented ppl will get in. 3. Congrats! You got in! Now practice +10 hours a day, so you will become even more talented. 4. After 5 years you have a chance to debut. 5. Congrats! You are now a K-Pop idol! How to become a K-Pop idol in 2024: 1. Be cute. 2. Start posting Tiktok where you lipsync, "dance" and act cute. 3. Congrats! You have now 5 million followers! 4. Audition to a rigged survival show. 5. Congrats! You are now a K-Pop idol!
I gotta give praise to Edvasian for making enjoyable commentary videos 🙂↕️ Not too long and not filled with unnecessary annoying editing + good phasing with jokes vs. info. Good job!
what i learned from this video (jk) 1. have barely any stage talent whatsoever (but be pretty) 2. become a tiktoker 3. do a stupid dance and go viral 4. fly to korea 5. go on a survival show (preferably a rigged one that only cares about tiktokers and pretty people) 6. perform (badly) 7. win 🏆 (extra step to make you even more guaranteed to become an idol: be very young (preferably the age that appeals to drake))
Oh this definitely is a cash thing for the company. They did not do anything. Just got the money from this. I am sure the group dont even debut or they debut and disband soon after.
9:14 THIS PD48 gets a lot hate for obvious reasons, but those reasons aside it was an AMAZING show and Iz*One was really an excellent group. When you considered Kep1er really struggled until the redebuted and gp999 had such low ratings…if you play devils advocate it’s probably because PD48 was so scripted.
The sad part is that so many of the girls in the show were so talented. Also, the girls only had a total of maybe 2 days to practice each performance and some weeks had multiple performances a week....
This entire production was such a bummer because we finally got an age range that made sense and it being connected to this mess will probably be what companies and other shows use to justify why they keep getting younger and younger
most of the issues ppl have with this are the same issues that plague high production value shows: trainees coming in with pre established fanbases, having connections to celebrities, ppl being favored by viewers for looks over talent, etc. The biggest difference is shows like pd101 have the budget, resources, and professional staff to execute it better
“how someone broke all their legs” had me laughing so hard. I’m picturing a K-pop hopeful with six broken legs, lying on the ground like a crumpled insect, being told very dramatically that she will never dance again.
I'll be very honest, I have not watched your videos for such a long time and you look amazing. The long hair you had to now how you style it is amazing. Kept subscribed to you and I am just happy and proud of you!
13:34 I'm a moa and i can say she can be appreciated, I respect her identity. Those need to know she has her own talent and that does not mean hueningkai and her sister is an excuse to why she is doing great out there.
I remember seeing ppl so hyped for this show when they saw ex-idols on the list of participants and no kids anywhere in sight. And then it started airing and everyone suddenly fell quiet... Seeing the line-up vs their performances and how this thing looked in general I am no longer suprised why I heard nothing until it finished.
as an unconventionally attractive person, an evil part of me is rly smug abt the fact that a lot of these hot people are bad at singing and im not afraid to say that
I just remember something. If you know SB19, you know this story. There was a group formed who are mostly influencers and tiktokers. In the same day in their debut (on stage) as well as their cringy and awful prescon, they didn't last long. I forgot whats the name of the group but I dont careless to search it.
What am trying to say is, if they rely on the popularity on social media without training by the professionals especially dedication and down to earth attitude, they will not have the popularity/recognition they wanted. Unlike SB19, they practice 1000x to perfect their dances ang songs
I'm so glad you bought up how unnecessarily harsh kpop fans can be. I feel like every month or so, there's a new target (usually female) on my instagram FYP and people writing really vile things about them. Kelly is no exception. Like, what did she do that was so offensive exactly? Participate in a survival show? Considering how there are some really dreadful things going on in the kpop industry right now, it astounds me that some people seem to have more hatred for certain idols than they do for actual criminals. Side note: I feel like instagram in particular has this issue compared to other social media sites- I have my own theory about how it's algorithm deliberately promotes inflammatory/hateful content because that's what gets people engaged and spending more time on the app but that's a whole other conversation...
i think it's because she's already 24 and even though there's nothing wrong with that, actual ent companies unfortunately see any age above 19 'too old' to debut. they won't scout her
It was rigged. at the last, like 30 seconds, this j person gave over $8k gifts to Kelly. it was very sus. they had no picture, no bio, 1 follower, and 1 following. This was 💯 percent an account created by her company because she was losing badly. Her company also created timeturner, so this all make sense
For me it's TVXQ (DB5K songs mostly). I revisited most of the 2nd gen groups I used to listen when I was younger and of course I was curious of how new gen kpop songs are now. Tbh, I find them quite lacking in vocals and the songs are almost sounding the same. I can agree that they look cute and handsome but I prefer men who look like Taecyeon 2PM and U-know TVXQ😂. I find most new male idols look too pale and more feminine. Of course not every new gen kpop groups are bad but I prefer when idols can sing slow songs and can unleash their vocal potentials. But if someone prefer the new gen music, I don't mind. I guess I'm just getting older lmao
I am sorry, as a 2nd gen fan this is hilarious because the drama the kids have nowadays is such bs compared to what we used to have, and to name GD out of all people to highlight current drama is hilarious, he had serious drama until like a few months ago what with the drug investigation 🤣🤣 which ended up being a bunch of nothing, just like the silly new gen drama most times 🤣 No hate to him, he is an icon, but drama free he is not 😂

I literally would convince myself I was going to be on one rather it was the real world, or the challenge SMH goodness, you couldn’t pay me enough money to be in that small of a setting with that many people for that long anymore oh heck no
Kelly suddenly started appearing ALL over my insta, and i kept getting more and more annoyed with her facial expressions....so forced, so cringey, trying to be so cute, and it KILLS me...don't even get me STARTED on her singing my god Look I know she's trying but my god I literally blocked her because I was so tired of seeing it

Also yes it kinda matters that she was an idol first when she gets unnecessary hate, and the nepotism isn't even a thing bc no one here knows she's their sister. Like no one. Only when people knew they hated.
Wait was that actually Lea tho
Bro she sings like every Asian girl just having fun at the karaoke. You reach the keys, doesn't mean you can sing
I can understand where you are coming from but the argument isn't....well.
Yes singing on key and note is actually singing.
@@K_8T singing is anything that has an attempt of a melody... even bad singing or off note is still singing, but being CAPABLE of singing is different from being ABLE to sing. Anyone can open their mouth and sing, but not everyone is capable. if you sing on key but your vocal quality, flow and skill is on the floor, then sorry but you can't sing. you're just barely hanging on
At least one flase note was audible and it hurt me seeing the vote meter
Girl they be TRUSTING with letting the name be picked by the audience ... They clearly don't know anything about the Internet ✋😭
I'm not saying this to be mean but....she shouldn't have won. All girlie is giving is weird facial expressions....ain't even try.
when Edvasian said she's super popular I thought "why tho? her face bothers me so much". And seeing that her popularity is based on looks I get it even less. She has a joker smile and a very weird face shape. I do not get it, but good for her I guess
@@Gr95dc she def gives off "Super cute tiktoker who only lip-syncs", not a kpop idol.
@@betisbaby Facts, very well said.

13:33 Exactly what I’m saying! Is she supposed to just deny their existence and her relation to them because she wants to redebut 😭. She was the first in her family to debut and just wanted a second chance.
sure but if people are going to send kelly hate for her pretty privilege, then leah certainly has nepo privilege. she’s easily the least skilled of her family.
@@horizonkyun7203 Bahiyyih also experienced nepotism with GP999. None of these girls should receive hate for things out of their control. It's a weird gray area if anything.
@@horizonkyun7203 she works as a model now. obviously she wouldnt have been practicing her singing and dancing as much as full time idols when she herself has a separate full time job
@@horizonkyun7203 That’s quite rude. I understand that Lea is a bit rusty but give her some time. Like Cupid said she hadn’t practiced in a while due to her having a full time job as a model/influencer. She fully committed to a new life (went to college and got a degree in acting, and even worked in a cafe at one point). She thought she would never debut again because of her age but when she saw an opportunity she decided to take it and I don’t blame her.
7:48 not the host having to cover up her voice cracks to save her from embarrassment 😭
Tbh the hate is kind of crazy, but a huge part of the vitriol is that the content house Kelly was in is owned by the company holding this survival program in the first place. It's rigged for her to make it into the final lineup no matter what, and that's what has people so upset.
She's annoying af tbh
that kelly girl genuinely should have never applied for this ... like imagine subjecting yourself to the eyes of vicious kpop stans
the company set her up fr like ik damn well they're not gonna protect her beyond turning off tiktok comments lol
it's called having a huge ego. when you have millions of fans/followers for being pretty and acting cute, you think you can do anything. 😂
Um, why not? She's pretty as hell and K-Pop is now a really shallow industry largely based on looks, just like South Korea in general. This is what happens. You act like idols who have it all don't get hate as well? It's literally part of being an idol.
Also, hate never seems so bad when you remember it's mostly teenagers and obsessive weirdos giving it out.

Yes if she can be chosen as a kpop idol at this point they might as well as give any person chance.

I think people only voted for the person who will give them more entertainment, not talent. There's a lot of trolls on the internet who are willing to pay to see a clown perform. That's why Kelly won.

some 20 years ago I visited my brother in a different city and there happened to be an audition for one of these shows so I went to see what it's really like and...boy was it eye opening
like we sang in front of cable guys and other staff, there were no cameras, you'd have to go through 1-3 rounds to even be allowed to sing in front of the real (TV) judges
I had to sign a form that said they could use any footage of me however they liked and I wouldn't be able to sue them
I am HOWLING. The performances you showed were basically the ol' American Idol cringe reel. On the other hand, as someone who enjoys seeing legitimately talented people succeed, it's pretty depressing to see people who objectively cannot sing win a contest like this - even if the contest is a bit of a joke.

Back in 2017, I recall seeing Eli Kim (U-Kiss) on a season of Mr. House Husband. It was quite eye opening, how brutal the kpop industry is in regards to their family life. Of course, the label sAiD that his marriage & family wouldn't affect his job, but.......
how can they compete and survive in the world of kpop in this kind of performance🙄
Did they even release an MV? I can't find any😅
How to become a K-Pop idol in 2015:
How to become a K-Pop idol in 2024:
1. Be cute.
2. Start posting Tiktok where you lipsync, "dance" and act cute.
3. Congrats! You have now 5 million followers!
4. Audition to a rigged survival show.
5. Congrats! You are now a K-Pop idol!
Flawless transition into that ad, wow!
I just feel like Korea saw Black Mirror and was like "yes"
Kelly Kim is cringe and does unnecessary facial expressions but that doesn't mean she deserves to be hated in the internet

what i learned from this video (jk)
1. have barely any stage talent whatsoever (but be pretty)
2. become a tiktoker
3. do a stupid dance and go viral
4. fly to korea
5. go on a survival show (preferably a rigged one that only cares about tiktokers and pretty people)
6. perform (badly)
7. win 🏆
(extra step to make you even more guaranteed to become an idol: be very young (preferably the age that appeals to drake))
oh my god i put more effort into my shower singing than kelly kim

I LOVE the ghibli posters in the backround
Shocked you didn't mention KARA Project and the death of Ahn Sojin. These survival shows are sad.
LETS GO KELLYYYY (HOME 😇)

This entire production was such a bummer because we finally got an age range that made sense and it being connected to this mess will probably be what companies and other shows use to justify why they keep getting younger and younger
who needs sleep when you've got Edvasian
most of the issues ppl have with this are the same issues that plague high production value shows: trainees coming in with pre established fanbases, having connections to celebrities, ppl being favored by viewers for looks over talent, etc.

I used ur fashion Chingu discount last time and it was amazing quality like I love the stuff I bought tysmmm
as an unconventionally attractive person, an evil part of me is rly smug abt the fact that a lot of these hot people are bad at singing and im not afraid to say that
I just remember something.
I think someone mentioned this, it's a group called Beyond Zero
They could never make me like you Kelly.
11:15 its literally like gambling machines
The ROI of this "competition" must be insane
Right I'm thinking this business model may be lucrative lol
If they can do it I can. WHO WANTS TO DEBUT WITH ME

Interesting how a sibling of two kpop idols chose to be on a cheap show instead of trying their luck with actual ent companies.
Yea I’m kinda confused at that.
Even crazier that she was in an actual group, Viva lol
i think it's because she's already 24 and even though there's nothing wrong with that, actual ent companies unfortunately see any age above 19 'too old' to debut. they won't scout her
If anything.. it proves that she doesn’t benefit from nepotism as much as everyone always screams.. if she was, shed be on something wayyy better.

I am sorry, as a 2nd gen fan this is hilarious because the drama the kids have nowadays is such bs compared to what we used to have, and to name GD out of all people to highlight current drama is hilarious, he had serious drama until like a few months ago what with the drug investigation 🤣🤣 which ended up being a bunch of nothing, just like the silly new gen drama most times 🤣
