Honestly, we are so short staffed. To succeed you need to do 3 things:
    1. Apply
    2. Not have murdered anyone
    3. Don't have a swastika tattooed on your face.

Well, you would think that would be the case, but that’s not true. I remember stopping by a recruiting office in Esquimalt about 25 yrs ago, as my post secondary aspirations had not worked out as I had hoped… figured service would give me a base from which to succeed in the civilian world… I didn’t realize that nobody actually staffs recruitment centres, and there were nothing but locked doors and no representatives….so I called number to make appointment to see a recruiter, and when I showed for appointment, nobody was there to meet me….no call back, nobody saying sorry we missed appointment, would you like to reschedule. Thank you caf recruitment staff….you really helped me dodge a bullet on that one… if I had joined I would never have got the opportunity to get my red seal journeyman ticket in refrigeration/hvac or start my own business, which I still operate to this day. Sometimes a closed door is a blessing, as I realize they would have dumped me in some shit hole third world country, and then told me my injuries were not service related.

I began my application around Jan/Feb, however the process had to be put on hold while I was on a 4 month waiting list to get a family doctor. I got my family doctor in July and now next month I will be leaving to begin Basic Training. I'm very excited because this has been my lifelong dream ever since I was like 4 years old. It feels kind of unreal that I'm this close to achieving everything I've ever dreamed of

It is just an IQ test with some fraction based math.
KNOW BEDMAS and how to multiply as well as divide fractions. I scored 52 on the practice test first shot but I also ace IQ tests. Do not worry about the FCAT test it is there to help figure out what is the right path for you and over preparing for it is not really required. Just ensure you have basic arithmetic down.
Currently the armed forces is in dire need of recruits so it is the time to apply.

The application should not take more than 1-2 months. The fact that it's taking people 6+ months, even when they pass everything and have good status, is absurd. The Canadian Forces need to get it together. They are bleeding people left and right. 1 in 10 jobs is vacant, yet their recruiting process is disastrously bad.

I just finished my CFAT on the 11th of Oct. I’m applying for Cyber Operator. I’m very excited and really trying to get things together for the recruiters, as I know it takes time to get through to next steps.
    For me personally;
    Applied online late August
Book for CFAT on Oct 11th, by end of August.
    Study math for 1 month
    Take CFAT Oct 11th
Awaiting medical appt email, and ensuring proper email contacts for the recruiting team to screen me.
Then interview sometime after that (optional online interview)
Afterwards I’m not sure how fast I go to basic.
Excited nonetheless, 25 years old, 2.5 months since I started the process.

Have money, it's expensive to join our military.
As the mother of a now serving member our son couldn't have done it on his own there is a lot unexpected expenses starting with your kit for basic, items not needed but had to be purchased, making sure your basic kit is all the same color ei your sweat pants, shorts, shirts the expenses add up.
Even something as simple as getting an item tailored is rediculous, huge backlogs, every base should have a tailoring room that members can access that have an inexpensive sewing machine, threads, a variety of uniform button's, laces for boots, such simple stuff that is a huge extra expense.

Yeah people get bottlenecked on the security clearance part. It normally depends on which recruitment center you are in. For example Quebec would book you for cfat, medical and interview then do the clearance while they wait for your spot. But for toronto since its a bit crowded here they are getting a lot of bottlenecks.

Some people are saying that they waited two years just to receive a "maybe" from their recruiter. These stories aren't all lining up, unless they've gotten really desperate just in the last two years which I guess wouldn't surprise me. I know they haven't been doing well in terms of numbers.

Succeeding In the CAF at this point is like succeeding in a beauty contest and the only fucking entry, was you. And the people often left who still enlist, are arrogant and entitled for it, not proud and honourable. If I have to give you a truck and lower the standards to do the thing, I don’t put a lot of stock in you to get the job done when push comes to shove.
