I love how the part where he turns it from acoustic to electric is the most replayed part.
I have the JCM800..JCM900..MG 100 FX..MG 100hdfx..Marshalls..all 4 are fantastic amps and i don't put one over the other all great...
This has been my practice amp for a solid 13 years.
I bought my dfx back in 2007 and it was the last one in the store. I use it on a regular basis and I love the tone it has.
I gigged with this amp for 10 years playing classic rock n roll doing covers from Ramones, Jimmy Buffet, classic rock and tons of Grateful Dead , southern rock , country rock and the amp did it all. Only issue was after about 10 of playing it loud the circuitry loosened up. I was constantly having to re-solder things that had come loose. Became unreliable. Still, I can’t complain. 10 solid years without a problem. Been sitting about 8 years. I really need to get it into a shop and fixed. It is a great affordable amp .
I play mainly alternative style music, but that amp sounds great. You helped me make up my mind. I been needing a small combo amp for home use or jam with some friends. I get tired of pulling out my 1/2 stack for small jams. Thanks again, I think I'll try it. Also, those effects around 9:45 definitely helped, thanks! Now I know I can use it.
I have the same amp, it was fine but after I blew out and changed the speaker it was even better. Love it now.
What speaker did you put in it?
@Spartanjp308 @Carlos M , Exactly! Your post doesn't help us unless you tell us what speaker!?!?
Thanks so much for such a great demo! This sold me on this series of amp, can't wait to find one!
Did you?
I have that exact amp and never really learnt how to use it, your video has helped me so much thank you!
Solid State Amps the past 25 years have become incredible no need to use just Tube Amps Anymore the Marshall MG 100 Watt series Amps are classics
I've just happened across one of these secondhand. £30. Your video was extremely helpful to give me a starting point on tones. Thanks!
wow, really good price! Great I could help!
If ever you happen on another one for that sort of price range, please let me know - Ishmael.Shumba@outlook.com
I really love my mg100dfx. I have a modified version that allows me to add a head amplifier and to use the built in speaker.
Thanks Marty. Good fun and a nice selection of sounds from the Marshall.
This amp is great I got it used for $150 and I was very pleased with what I got
I bought mine for 300$ used, guess the guitar shop ripped of me! None the less, pleased with this amp!
Very well presented video showing the dynamics of the amp. It makes a change watching someone introduce a product objectively.
Hey, Merry Christmas and happy new year! NICE PLAYING!
thank you, happy new year!
Thanks a lot for your great presentation, you made up mind to buy this brilliant amp!
All the best for you 🍀👍
A great amp we both use them, killer crunching Marshall tone for an affordable price 🤘🤘🎸🎸
I just got the same combo, absolutely love it!
+Jared Hind Nice! Yes it's great!
IT IS TRUTH REALLY GOOD????????? IT IS WORTH THIS MONEY???
I would try get one very cheap second had, especially the older one like in this video. I paid around £60 for my 100watt combo, absolutely love it :) Kinda wish i had the 2x12 though, but i cant complain
Are these better than the new cf series?
We play this amp - great sound
I started late in my life I gain a interest at 25 years old. Now I'm 32 years old, still learning. I was told age wasn't a issue... I was wondering can you help me I'm trying to get a clean rock setting going on.. To be honest I'm new I have the Marshall amp dfx 100 series..
Never to late. Being happy and content doing it is whats improtant.
Bro I am 36 and started to play - never to late to learn an instrument.
Age only an issue if you're trying to win Olympics. Other then that - one is hopefully wiser to take on nearly anything.
Great démo ! Thank you !
I got one of these with an Epiphone SG second hand for £150! Not too shabby.
What a great deal! I miss my Epiphone SG so much
do you reccomend this for a grunge guitarist?
+Raffaele Monticelli Yes sure, it sounds great!
Raffaele Monticelli I'd recommend this for ANY guitarist...I've owned one since 2002, and it sounds as great now as it did when I bought it new! Hands down the most versatile amp I've ever owned
I just want to get brown sound, would you recommend it ?
Hi, congratulations for the video! I have the same amp, and for some time now, when I play some notes, especially the lowest ones, the amp's chassis vibrates a lot. What could it be about? Is there a specific do-it-yourself job on this amp that you could recommend?
Thanks a lot!
Maybe the speaker is loose, or the panels arent tight enough
Just picked up a used one today. Has anyone tried a different footswitch? I wish it had 4 buttons: Clean, OD1, OD2, FX. Is there such a footswitch?
great video, and presentation. amp and you both sound great
Thank you! :)
I purchased my Marshall mg100dfx at a pawn shop near me ,I think I paid roughly 200 for it ,I also have a boss katana 50 a 6505mh and another marshall head however I use the mg100dfx more than any other amp it's just got a certain tone I love out of all the other amps I have I dont why I just seems to have that certain bite with my charvel san dimas, anyway great video stay safe and god bless
Hey cool video, man. What setting would you recommend to get a metallica sound?
Thanks! A good starting point would be: OD2, Gain 7, Bass 6, Middle 4-5, Treble 7, Contour 8, Volume as loud as you like :)
Crank the gain on OD1 and keep the contour knob around 10 o'clock. Layer it with low gain on OD2 to make it sound even thicker (if you're intending to record too)
Hi can I attach an external speaker cab to this AMP?
Does this work for bass as well?
Thanks very much. Really helpful
Would this amp be good for 80's rock, like maybe ACDC or Guns N Roses style? Or should I look for a vintage amp. Thanks
+DisRandomShitz I would say yes, works quite good for me!
LoudBox Music Hey, I just purchased the amp and I love it! Just curious what settings I should use for Guns N Roses? Sweet Child O Mine in specific. I also have a distortion pedal but it gets too loud if I use it, even just overdrive. Thanks!
DisRandomShitz I have bass and treble around 6, middle around 4-5 and gain up to 7
is this with od1 or od2?
Drew White personal preference, I use OD1
Great video! What does the effect loop does??
Thanks! You can insert effects and blend them in.
sorry, in minute 9:34, what's that song?
+javier canales calderón Oh, I was just messing around with B and A chord :)
You should make that a real song. I wanted to listen to it too :(
Looking for an all round at least 100w amp for backline purposes... think this might be a good fit? most bands ask for Marshall anyways...
I've got one, Pretty run of the mill amp. would be fine as part of a backline!
That or Fender Champion 100.
Can you tell me what model is the foot switch?
how did you get the presets working? it does nothing for me
Hi, i'm buying this amp, can u give me some advice for playing for example Psycho-Muse ,Purple Haze and for example some solos like Time by Pink Floyd? Thanks, and great video 😀
Can only comment on Purple Haze - As far as I know Hendrix used a Fuzz Pedal for distortion, so a Big Muff for example would get you quite there. Boost a little bit of Bass and Treble on the Amp but leave the Contour all the way down. Oh and a Stratocaster style guitar!
LoudBox Music Thanks!
It's good for groove metal?
What would be the best settings for early Metallica sound? (KEA, RtL, MoP)
somebody answer please
Please can anyone tell me what’s the difference between mg 100hdfx and 100hgfx? Many many thanks
man, what's that you're playing on the intro, sounds super familiar.. ACDC?
yep! Hells Bells!
@@ZedMartyProduction thanks, and great video on this amp, it's the house amp at a bar my band is playing at the end of the month and I'd never quite gotten a sound I was too happy with on it before, hadn't had much time to play around with it as the sound engineer is always impatient so I've added this to my favourites to rewatch on my way to the gig :)
Any tips for a system of a down type of chunky guitar tone?
Turn on ch 2
Gain: 7.5
Bass: 3
Mid: 5
Treble: 10
Presence: 5
Reverb: 2
Master volume: As MUCH as possible
Good luck
Sounds awesome
You have reviews on both the amps I'm looking for (this and the champion 100). I play mostly ambient music and indie but also some classic rock. I'm planning on also buying a Boss ME 80. Which one do you think will work best??
+Diego Spindola hm good question. Can't say for sure but with the Fender you got more tones to choose from.
LoudBox Music Yeah, I'm still in doubt. Guess I'll just have to try them both somewhere. Cheers!
Hey, just wanted to let you know: I went with the marshall. It's a thing of beauty. The reverb's incredible. Thanks for helping with my purchase decision!
Great, yes it's a really good amp! No problem mate!
Until the delay I thought it was decent but that delay just blew me away
how do I turn on the digital fx channel?
Hey great video ! What amp would you say is better this or the fender champion 100?
Thank you! Well it depends. For distorted/overdriven sounds I like the Marshall a little more, but for clean or „twangy“ tones I really like the Fender.
Zed Marty Production ah ok I'll probably go Marshall 😄 thanks!
Hi guys ! Greetings from Athens Greece!! I just bought this exact amp and i love playing on it! It has a gooood clean chanell and a great overdrive too ! But i m having a problem with figuering out whats going on with playing with the headphones. Once i plug the headphones the sound comes out too and i dont have enough sound or none on the headphones (but i ll have to doublecheck today) does anybody here uses headphones for practise? Is it working?? The man who sold the amp to me told me i have to lower down the master volume to zero when i plug the headphones!! I m about to try this in a while !! Cheers
nice review ;) ist it also nice to play solos like the ones in acdc and guns n roses songs with it ?
Thanks! Yes sure, it's great!
+LBmusic thanks :)
Did you use a pedal or just the amp?
Amp only
Would you recommend this for a Zakk Wylde tone?
Yes, I would. The contour and mid scoop to a an EQ set at 6-7 on the bass and 8 on the treb will sound good.
Is he use an effect pedal or the amp effects?
Amp only, no pedals
Thank you very much 🙏🏼
Great review thank you. Is it possible to go to od2 from clean with one press on the footswitch ? And vice versa ?
+Obi-Wan Kenobi no, you have to select the OD2 channel on the amp. But once selected you can go from clean to OD2 with the footswitch.
Ok, thx for your answer.
@Zed Marty Production
Thank you for the video - it's indeed a great amplifier! I own one myself!
I have a question, though... Have you ever used the Emulated Line Out / Headphones socket??
I'm wondering if it could be used for recording the amp into a soundcard??
Do you know?
Thanks
Have a nice day
Cheers.
Hi! I've used the Emulated Line out and yes you can plug that into a soundcard. The sound is ok but I have to say that like the sound of the real speaker much more.
@@ZedMartyProduction - Hey man!
Thank you for the reply, I truly appreciate it.
Aha, thanks for that. Yeah, I understand that - micing up the amp would be better.
Would I connect it like this:
Guitar to front Input on Marshall, then Emulated Out to a channel/input on my soundcard?
Would a standard TS Jack be good?
From there, I assume I would have to open up my recording program, then select the matching channel that the Emulated Out is connected to, and then be able to record? Correct?
Are there any knobs on the amp I should adjust in this case?
Cheers!
Seems to be correct! It should work that way.
@@ZedMartyProduction - Thank you, I will mess around with it, soon!
Have an excellent day
Cheers.
How would it sound live on stage taking the gig out with Johnny b Goode I wonder
I wonder what the clean or crunch would sound like with a dod 250. Id also wonder what this amp would sound like with a t75 celestion
Great demo
8:26 song?
Hells Bells :)
Is this amp tube or ss?
+Splinkerton Forkendoggen Solid state
I dont like the effects in the amp, I have pedlas, can recomend me a good sounding, straight to the point amp?
Leave the effects off
cool!!!
Thanks!
this or katana 50?
Or Vox Vt100. What I like about Boss & Vox,they both have the 100 to .5 watts so u can can have loud or quiet. Not sure if Marshall has that.
This
@@grizz1887 you could try Adjusting the volume controls 😁👍
@@RickJando I bought the Vox last August
Fender Champion 100.
I always got a ridiculous buzz with this amp on the crunch channel, was unbearable.
needs a noise gate
Its sounds better if you take the back panel off.
Back panel?
😢😢😢que pena!! Tremendo ampli y solo escucho bulla!!😢
I posted a live demo (ruclips.net/video/ZkulSM4frTY/видео.html ) using this amp a few years back... excellent amp for the money but sounds much better when connected to a good 4ohm cab in my opinion
Jesus Loves You
