Agree. Bought my 2004 VW GTI when that generation was near the end of its production run. Twenty years later, the car is still my daily driver today. The newly redesigned 2006 VW GTI had arguably worse reliability and durability. I don't see the '06 models on the road anymore. The lesson for me is; let others be first adopters. I view owners of newly redesigned vehicles as paying to be an extension of the car manufacturer's R&D department. this guy seems very biased for whatever his reasons may be, but who in the hell would start their car/trk and put it in neutral ??? AND if needed to, why would you not set the emergency brake ! ? !
I think we've reached diminishing returns when it comes to being environmentally friendly. On one hand, on paper the car is more efficient at producing more power with less fuel. On the other, the myriad of problems that it causes makes it resource intensive and uneconomical to fix. Thus, the customer would probably scrap the car sooner than later. The way products are being produced in today's modern corporate world. I wouldn't be surprised if this was an intentional decision to force consumers to keep buying or spending their products.
The iforce Max It's not a plugin hybrid. I am skeptical tho of the new powetrain, but look at all the other trucks in its class. They are all going to turbo four cylanders. So I do not quite understand this argument that it's worse because it has a four banger. This engine has been around for two years now, and its been on other platforms, and there have not been many issues surrounding them. I think it's best to give it a couple of years to shake out the bugs and not just give up on a beloved truck because people don't understand that change does take time.
@RP-oy5rt you obviously haven't seen the 2022+ models. The pro4x is the leading midsize truck right now. Most reliable power train, more hp than a 2023 trd pro and can tow more.

Beside all the problems. I will never buy the 4 cylinder mid size Tacoma especially for what they want for them. They have lost their ever loving minds. . I have a feeling others feel the same way. Toyota just shot themselves in the foot when they didn't offer a 6 cylinder version. They can just sit and rot on the dealers lot as far as I care.

Option out leaf springs for higher trims. WHAT? All the serious overland and off road drivers install coil over adjustable shocks and throw the leaf springs in the trash. Every serious lift is all coil over.
💯 Anyone who buys the first year of a redesign is a very expensive beta tester. Best to buy the last least of an outgoing generation to get the most reliable version. Especially nowadays with blistering level of change and increased complexity of vehicles, largely brought on by ever increasing government mandates.
I did not regret buying my 3rd gen tacoma. What I regret that Toyota took jobs to Mexico to make 2024 pos Tacoma. If I want turbo charge, Ill buy sports car. Right now Im shopping for my son truck either Ranger or Ridgeline. At least they are V6 either American made n Japanese quality made. Another lies that economy is to blame n that is the lowest excuses. Toyota already paying American labor of pathetic rate of $15/hr n now Mexican of $2.75/he with retail of TRD $60kplus tax on 4 cylinder.
Not sure why you're calling it economical....I get the same mileage in my 23 as my 24. 18 to 21 MPG average per tank. What the heck was the point of a 4 cyl if the milage wasn't improved? If they had just upgraded the look and left the power plant intact, the result would have been much better. All those complainers who were bitching about the lag.....This is your fault!!! I will take lag over this new 4 cyl any day!
No plug in hybrid, as far as I know. Only parallel hybrid available as an option. Toyota is making a larger and heavier truck with a smaller engine. That's asking for trouble. Manufacturing in Mexico instead of Texas doesn't help. They also cost a lot more.
I always have been, and still trying to be a big Toyota fan, owned all my driving life. But everything you said in video, and same with the Tundra. There goes Toyota's well known RELIABLE and DEPENDABILITY out the window. I have 2014 Toyota Tundra, and when I upgrade to a new one, it will be to a 2021 and under. I like to keep many Toyota's for at least 300,000 + miles with just normal maintenance. I have to see it to believe it to happen to the new Tundra that looks like a Tacoma on steroids lol. If the new Tundra gets to 300,000 miles, I'm sure it will come with a hefty maintenance bill along the way!
Your mechanical knowledge is obviously lacking. If you believe putting a small four-cylinder motor with a turbo on it in a large truck is going to lead to anything other than trouble.
No, there is no plug-in hybrid version of the new Tacoma. Virtually all of your "complaints" are not substantiated, just a lot of worry wart nonsense. Ooh, the Turbo 4 is sooo complicated! Wow.
Anything above 6 speeds is an utter waste on a pickup. Makes them very unresponsive - kind of a FORD with a 10 speed automatic. Transmission always seems to be going - What do I do? What do I do? Is this gear right, no? How about this gear?
The Tacoma, while a good entry level vehicle has been taking advantage of buyers by not updating the truck while -upscaling the price. Toyota was failing its customers and realized it was time for an update. While the new motor and transmission have caused concern the vehicle still needed the update. Toyota is feeling the same pains as many of the top truck manufacturers. More power, better fuel mileage, better towing capability, more comfort all come with their negatives. All Manufacturers are dealing with electronic transmission and engine issues related to it. If Toyota wishes to stay in the front in their niche they must make the adjustments as a trade off. More money equals better performance as a whole.
An ALL NEW Tacoma with the same old, outdated Gloomy Grey and Death Black interior colors that became popular in 1990. Geez, that was during the last Millennium
Why is the government paying automakers to build and sell us this crap we don’t want? Let them build whatever and may the better brand win. They must be getting tons of government money
Never buy a new generation of any vehicle for at least year three. If the manufacturer was smart they would provide 5 year bumber to bumber warranty or 60,000 miles on the vehicle. Right now the bumper to bumper is 3 years or 36,000 miles. They could drop it down to the standard 3 year warranty after year 3 of the car and the kinks have been mostly worked out.
i drove the new 2024. i love everything about it except that 4 banger turbo. it won't be a long lasting truck with that engine. too much failure history with turbos in general
The US EPA's insanely stringent CAFE regulations and "greenhouse" gas reduction mandates are what has forced all manufactures to nearly complete switch from simple durable naturally aspirated engines to very complex, expensive, temperamental, tiny, turbocharged engines; and extremely complicated 9-10 speed transmissions. If tiny turbo engines were superior to natural aspirated engines manufactures would have been using them all along. They're not.
This is why you never buy a first year redesigned Anything The engine Is totally different everything is changed on the trucks Four wheel drive system, transmission. Wait a year and the bugs will be worked out just like the new tundras had issues for the first year Production.
I just bought my first Tacoma, a 2024 TRD Offroad. You're absolutely right about there not being any recalls. Will there be recalls in the future? Probably, but it's like with every brand on the market, they all have had or will have recalls. I believe that most of the people that leave the stupid comments about the new Tacoma being unreliable, having recalls, etc... have never had one. People should stop watching these videos, me included, and buy what they want.
Most of the comments I've reviewed come from folks who have no mechanical knowledge, and prob can't even open the hood. I've watched folks who have no clue how to even off road. Off road 101; keep it slow and use minimal torque, high RPM will break parts on any vehicle. If your in a hurry, buy a vette and stick to the road. I've raced 4WDs and bikes for years with minimal damage.
So this is just a make a mountain out of a ant hill thing to bash Toyota? Big deal on the weld issue as I promise no other mfg. would do a thing. I won't buy a new one but I do have a 23'
Videos like this are ridiculous. I absolutely love my 2024 Tacoma. The new 4 cylinder turbo is awesome. The multimedia system is great. They’ve gotten too expensive, but I had my last two Tacos for ten years each and see no reason why I won’t have my ‘24 for ten…….and do nothing but change the oil and put gas in it.

I'm leaning towards a frontier after what happened with TFLs blueberry tacoma. I don't trust the new tacoma with turbo.
@@diz_guy47 do some research on Nissan plenty of issues
this guy seems very biased for whatever his reasons may be, but who in the hell would start their car/trk and put it in neutral ???
AND if needed to, why would you not set the emergency brake ! ? !
Was thinking of trading my 2019 SR5 v6 . For a 2024 guess not
I think we've reached diminishing returns when it comes to being environmentally friendly.
If you need to instal an after market brake controller it's a nightmare . No plug in port .
Its also a scary time when toyota is unreliable
Lame video, this video is all based on assumptions and not actual issues
TIME FOR THE FRONTIER TO GET THE RECOGNITION IT FINALLY DESERVES!!!
💯 love my frontier
They are talking about cutting the frontier because like the titan no one wants them. It’s like buying a brand new 2013 truck
@RP-oy5rt you obviously haven't seen the 2022+ models. The pro4x is the leading midsize truck right now. Most reliable power train, more hp than a 2023 trd pro and can tow more.
@@LookCoolShootCool leading what? Definitely not sales. Definitely not in value down the road. Like a said the 2024 frontier would be a great truck in 2014. It’s years behind the competitors in every other category
@RP-oy5rt you don't know what you're saying lol. The Frontier is leading the midsize truck. Doesn't matter if resale value drops. The market is over saturated with Toyota fan boys and company's just paying consumer reports for their spots. Frontiers power train and nismo in general are some of the best most reliable and toughest power trains on the marker. 350z's, GTR all examples of the same engines and power trains that are bulletrpoof
Drowning in recalls? I can find NO recalls on the 2024 Tacoma, yet. Most of your conclusions are conjecture. In my opinion.
The new Tacoma STILL offers leaf springs in the lower trims
Who put this video together. Truck rolls when put in Neutral? No shit it rolls - put it in park like everyone does and it won't roll. This has got to be bankrolled by Ford or Chevy
I love Toyota but id they don't get their shit together i will find someone else. Currently owner of a tacoma 2018 off road. Love this truck but not too sure about trading😢
LOL, I get the same MPG as the I4 Turbo in my V6 TRD Sport plus I HATE the new interior. Looks so cheap, square and sharp lines. When it comes time to replace, I'll be looking at Nisson.
I had the choice of a 23 or 24 Tacoma TRD Off Road with the Premium pkg and a 6’ bed.
Naturally I chose the 23
So did I. Bought the premium 23 sport TRD package just to get my hands on the last of the battle tested 6 cyl automatic. Glad I did.
@@TheDirthound Long live the Naturally Aspirated 3.5L V6
I had 2020 2.7. I heard last year they were doing away with 3.5 in Tacoma. Last Aug 23 I got 2023 trdsport 4dr 4×4. Love it. Probably won't be doing the 2.4t ever

@@Doc1855
I love my '17 TRD Sport V6 ext cab 6' bed.
Funny how no one is ragging on the Colorado & Canyon for having turbo 4’s
Toyota needs to make a pickup not a highway car
The unfortunate reality is that most people want tough looking mall-crawling air-haulers.
Who cares about the horsepower, I want an engine that will last 250 k plus miles., this new one will not last 100k miles
60,000 or less.
Option out leaf springs for higher trims. WHAT? All the serious overland and off road drivers install coil over adjustable shocks and throw the leaf springs in the trash. Every serious lift is all coil over.
i tell all my friends to avoid 1st gens of any car maker and wait for the second or third gen
I’ll stick with the Nissan frontier
Not sure why you're calling it economical....I get the same mileage in my 23 as my 24. 18 to 21 MPG average per tank.
What the heck was the point of a 4 cyl if the milage wasn't improved? If they had just upgraded the look and left the power plant intact, the result would have been much better. All those complainers who were bitching about the lag.....This is your fault!!! I will take lag over this new 4 cyl any day!
I used to love Tacomas. Own 2 now. Will not buy again on the new mexican made units.
I want to see a small 8 cylinder
Whatever! Anti Toyota, haters make this vid !!! Typical whiners 😭
As a Toyota fanboy and Tacoma owner I wouldn’t touch this truck for at least 3 years if ever
More like typical Toyota deniers.
@@tactlcal_bacon_bits4773please tell us, in your all-knowing wisdom, what trouble- free truck you recommend
Your mechanical knowledge is obviously lacking. If you believe putting a small four-cylinder motor with a turbo on it in a large truck is going to lead to anything other than trouble.
I own a '17 TRD Sport with a V6. I plan on keeping it till 300K miles.
No, it’s not the transmission that is confused, it’s you obviously
More money equals better performance as a whole.
keep it I don't wanted
I won’t be buying one and I have been Toyota loyal since 1986
The new Tundra has serious engine problems, if you make it to 10k miles consider that a success
An ALL NEW Tacoma with the same old, outdated Gloomy Grey and Death Black interior colors that became popular in 1990.
Geez, that was during the last Millennium
Huh? The Tacoma is NOT a plug-in hybrid, and the hybrid variant isn't even a plug-in... that wouldn't make any sense
too much money and too many issues.
There are recalls. Research before claiming otherwise. Parts failures
Exactly. Right now Ford leads all vehicles in the last two years for recalls. All major manufacturers have recalls to varying degrees.
false consumer's issues ?🤪
or 🧐
tacomas haters ?😤
I disagree. I think it has a small problem, that being that little 4 cylinder engine with the turbo under the hood of that large truck.😂😂😂😂
Why is the government paying automakers to build and sell us this crap we don’t want? Let them build whatever and may the better brand win. They must be getting tons of government money
Lies, toyotas farts dont stink.
Love my 2008 tacoma
The US EPA's insanely stringent CAFE regulations and "greenhouse" gas reduction mandates are what has forced all manufactures to nearly complete switch from simple durable naturally aspirated engines to very complex, expensive, temperamental, tiny, turbocharged engines; and extremely complicated 9-10 speed transmissions. If tiny turbo engines were superior to natural aspirated engines manufactures would have been using them all along. They're not.
This person is afraid of progress and technology the last gen is 12 years old...the only problem is price of all models
And no V-6 engine .
This is why you never buy a first year redesigned Anything The engine Is totally different everything is changed on the trucks Four wheel drive system, transmission. Wait a year and the bugs will be worked out just like the new tundras had issues for the first year Production.
I talked to a dealer this week. He said there is no recalls on the new Toyota tacoma.
Tacoma is going down the wrong road for the owners that use them for WORK.
its not plug in hybrid
I can get two V 8 Titan for the Price of one V6 Thundra. Turbo more parts to break. 4 cylinder 😝
Big problems. People paid tens of thousands of their hard earned money for what? My 21 year old truck runs perfect. Sue everybody!
Sad. I wanted to get into one of these trucks. I wanted a vsix. Sick of this downsizing and sick of Electric as well. Everything woke turns to trash
I really enjoy the recalls Toyota, Chrysler, General Motors, Ford are having ❤😂
I won't be buying one--
It does not come as a PHEV
The Mexican manufacturing plant is not up to speed. Time to make the Taco in America again.
Lost my buiness I will buy older trucks I can afford & trucks I can work on
So this is just a make a mountain out of a ant hill thing to bash Toyota? Big deal on the weld issue as I promise no other mfg. would do a thing. I won't buy a new one but I do have a 23'
Videos like this are ridiculous. I absolutely love my 2024 Tacoma. The new 4 cylinder turbo is awesome. The multimedia system is great. They’ve gotten too expensive, but I had my last two Tacos for ten years each and see no reason why I won’t have my ‘24 for ten…….and do nothing but change the oil and put gas in it.
cost reduction gone wrong
Everyone: Please Toyota! Give the Tacoma a better transmission!
Toyota: You want a better transmission?
Everyone: Yes!!!
Toyota: 2024! I give you the 8 speed Tacoma!!! Turbocharged 4 cylinder and a hybrid option!
Everyone: WTF!
Toyota: We got you a better transmission, STFU.
Neutral? Put the truck in PARK
This go green B.S. is so irritating.
Not to mention, there is no such thing as "green."
