Hi, great video! You asked the question "is it really worth it"? If you don't mind, I'd like to give my personal opinion. I built 2 Steel Challenge 10/22's and am shooting them both at the GM level. They both started out as 50 year old complete guns that I paid $50 each for. I did all the action and trigger work to the factory parts, and both have 1.75 lb triggers. On one gun I put on a Tac Sol barrel that cost me $200 on Ebay, so that gun cost me $250 without the optic, which at the beginning was no-name $39 red dot that I shot for 4 years without any issues at all. The stock was a reworked Ruger wooden stock that I lightened. That gun with the optic weighted 3.75 pounds, and swings really well. On the second one I cut down the factory Ruger barrel to 6" and permanently attached an aluminum sleeve to make it legal. It weighs 12 ounces and cost me nothing. So I'm into that gun for $50 plus a Kidd extractor, and it groups as well as any 6" barrel .22 pistol. I also made a light weight stock from another Ruger stock that weights about 10 ounces. I did upgrade the optic to a Vortex Venom that cost me $149 on sale at Bass pro. That entire gun weights 2.75 pounds. There's too must to talk about here, so I have attached 2 links on RUclips so you and see what I have done. And just why would you build a light weight gun and put heavy 25 round mags in it? Just asking. Can you tell me what your build weights? Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with buying quality components, but I wanted to see what I could do on a budget. I have shot other high end builds, and I don't think I could get faster times with a more expensive gun (thank god!). If anything I would just put in a better trigger some day. I have had many thousand match and practice rounds through these guns and have only had one failure in a match and it was because of a dud round. So, even though I like your build, my answer to your question is "maybe you don't have to spend that much" Here are the links to my videos. Watch the first one first "....on a budget...", the second one "Lightest 10/22 on the Planet" last. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think. ruclips.net/video/2w5ESjw4kvM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/xDFjUue01Sk/видео.html
We have been some destracted getting ready for race season but I am glad you bought this up we are going to try to do a budget rfri build on a old ruger 10/22 take down we have laying around once the race cars and done are ready for the seasion. I am going to check out your videos they may very well help with our iron sight build.
Have you looked at the magpul moe x-22? It’s super light and when you swap out the the pencil barrel insert for the bull barrel insert it gets really light. I used this stock along with a TK vblock, and tacsol barrel with sights. With the butler creek ultralight sling with Outdoor Connection Brute Sling Swivels. The entire rifle weighs 3lbs 8.6 oz. This is with the stock rail installed. I can only imagine how light your barrel is ;)
At that price point I'd cut corners on the barrel and replace the trigger group with a drop-in Franklin Armory binary trigger group. That gives the gun a whole new life
The binary unit from franklin is not as good, but is a lot of fun. I would agree the barrel was over kill but I didnt want to cut a corner and not end up with the best gun I could get.
We Love you guys!❤ No thanks needed. What you need when you need it. You call we haul!
You're the best!
outstanding
I am glad you like it.

I have not looked at it, I am so happy with this thing I dont think I will ever go away from it.
