- Unboxing the Toshiba DVR620 DVD/VCR-VHS recorder combo. Got this mostly to copy old VHS tapes to DVD. All the consumer/review sites said this was the best quality of these combo machines. The DVR670 is equivalent, except it has a tuner (and RF coaxial input) to connect directly to antenna or cable line and record TV.
This model must be connected to an external tuner, such as a cable box, to record TV. - Хобби
There's a youtube video titled "VHS transfer to DVD using combo recorder" that very clearly explains every step. I've been struggling with the same issue until I found that video. Good luck.
@grady taylor well this is awesome man! thanks for posting
I have the same as my DVD-R/VCR Combo that my dad bought it at Amazon last year. And it still works on my VCR and DVD, and I can record movies, TV Shows, and specials. It was like similar to my aunts DVD/VCR Combo and other users to show other demonstration videos. Also I finally got it for my birthday as well.
You might need to hook up the DVD recorder to your set top box since this unit has no tuner.
Does this model have ANT OUT and LINE OUT ?
haha funny face!!!!
any luck recording VHS to DVD?
Dubbing (copying) works great in both directions. Even DVD to VHS, if one ever had a reason to do that. :-)
DO I HAVE TP PLUG MY CABLE INTO MY TV OR CAN I PLUG IT INTO THE DVR?
Hey, just found this old comment. If you have this DVR620 (no RF Antenna/cable connection), then you'll need to connect cable TV to a cable box, then connect the cable box with either S-Video (and red/white audio), or the yellow video (a.k.a. composite) and red/white audio wires.
(If you have the DVR670 model, it has ANT/cable input, and you may be able to tune in some basic cable channels without a cable box.)
If you have antenna, you could connect the antenna to one of those DTV converter boxes, then use the same method to hook it to the Toshiba DVR.
