This is an excellent video. I had tried for weeks to take a VHS tape and convert it to DVD something was missing and I did not know what the instructions are in something other than English. They’re just too wordy, but this video was concise into the point and it worked thank you very very, very much.

Been awhile since I used mine. The VCR part broke. So, I had been dubbing from a separate VCR into the Toshiba recorder. I tried using a blank DVD-R and I can't get the machine to recognize it. I can't even select the SP. SLP, etc settings. However, it WILL work using a DVD-RW, I can do everything on it. I used to be able to use my preferred DVD-R's. Any ideas what to do? Remember, I don't push DUB because I am not using the built-in VCR. Pushing the Record button doesn't do anything. TIA.

I’m hoping you could help me out. I found one of these at an estate sale and it was new inbox. Even the batteries still in their plastic were there. The first thing I did was hook this up to my computer using a few wires, I bought five years ago. I was able to see the VHS tape playing on my computer and using QuickTime, I was able to record it, but the quality was not very good. I discovered the HDMI output in back and attached it to a television from 2018. When I play a DVD I can see it on the television. But, when I play VHS tape, I cannot see it on the television, although it is playing as far as the counter is concerned. also, regardless of whether I’m connected to my computer or the television, when I use the dubbing feature, I get a red circle with a line through it meaning that I can’t record onto the DVD. I’m really hoping you could help me out I have a lot of old videos that I’d like to get in the highest possible quality onto a DVD. I bought 100 of them! thank you very very much.

I’ve had four of these. They are crap. Lots of problems with VCR side and no support. Each one lasted a short while. All started with VCR side just playing audio with no picture, then progressed to spitting out the tape, etc. on, and on. I took one to Goodwill, threw one away, then someone who had a working one gave it to me. It quit almost immediately. Now my parents have passed and I have some old videos to transfer so I got suckered into buying one again. I played it for about 2 months before leaving my home for a time and didn’t use it again until after the warranty had run out. I took for granted it would work correctly; hardly used, right? Before trying to use it, I spoke with someone at Best Buy who had me buy a Roxie VHS to DVD 3 Plus for $40 which was to make it easier and better quality. Excited, I got my tapes together, and voila. It would only play sound and no picture on the VCR side. Nobody works on these anymore in my area. Toshiba has no support. Determined to do this and not waste any more money on one of these, I went to RUclips for FIY. By this time, it was not accepting the tape, just spitting it out. Last night, I followed the steps and got it fixed except for a distorted picture. At midnight, I decided to work on the picture this morning. Came up and started it, and it played with the distorted picture the first time. Then I found a solution on RUclips. Before I could even try that solution, the tape began automatically rewinding. Then I ejected it, and after that, it only plays for less than a minute, stops and spits out the tape. People dump these things at Goodwill and those who know how to fix them pick them up and do just as this RUclipsr did. They get them working for nothing but the price of a cleanup and grease job, and resell them. So, the cycle begins. Tired of being ripped off with this Chinese crap.

Is this for only recording VHS tapes to DVD? Or can I hook up to a tv and record stuff like Netflix to DVD??

I've recorded inputs similar to what you're referring to. Not certain but I would think you might need to check what "line" you're bring in the Netflix on in relation to what can be recorded .... running "through" your VCR combo to record. Hope this makes sense.

Excellent video! I have a problem on another matter. I have a 13 year-old Vizio TV that has a USB port but it won’t work. I hook up my USB cable to my phone and nothing happens. Do you have any idea how to make that work?

The USB port is probably designed for service and diagnostics, it won't do anything else.

Is there a dubbing button on the device itself
