Trust me, the 7th gen nano is where it’s at 👌🏼 you still get radio, have Bluetooth, and better charging with the lightning cable
Yeah for these days it's the better one, it's the newest that came out from the Nano line, you lose the built in speaker & microphone and the video camera but you get lightning port and bluetooth
I like the 5th gen iPod with the classic (6/7th) faceplate. I carry around wired headphones so it’s no big deal.
@@NebulaHatesWatchdog wait can you put a 6th/7th gen faceplate on a 5th gen? I searched but was unable to find documentation either way
@@TamaraGirodie Yep, it’s pretty easy. You can either buy a classic midframe and transplant the board over, or if you’re creative you can use the 5th gen midframe even though the screws don’t line up.
I will buy iPod nano 7th Gen in Pink because i also have a sealed boxed iPhone 7 in Pink as well and these 2 devices will look like Bride and groom ..💕 But i am very sad that Nano 7 do not support Airpods Pro 2 . 💔
everyone switching to dumbphones
making smart phone dumb
bro is switching to an ipod
I recently switched to a nice flipphone, my phone plan is much cheaper too because I dont need a high end subscription. Great decision
I would have gotten a nano 7th gen, since that had Bluetooth. There's also nothing forcing you to buy songs through iTunes, you can use CDs and any mp3 or mp4 audio file
I switched back to my iPod classic...I like owning my music.
You could own your music without your ipod just get all the songs from your computer or iPod and put it on your phone hell you could download music too
wireless headphones:
"ok lets listen to some tunes"
*stutter
*audio delay
*cut out
battery low
battery low
battery low
battery low
battery low
battery low
power off
wired headphones:
"ok lets listen to some tunes"
(9 hous later)
"that was great"
+ it's a real life subscription service, because most of the time you can't replace the batteries, so you are forced to buy new headphones every few years.
Cable-bound headphones stay good if you tread them good
I don't think any decent modern pair of bluetooth audio accessories have these issues, sure you have to charge them but it only takes an hour at max.
What kind of crappy buds do you buy mate? I have a 30 dollar pair of aliexpress and the battery lasts me several hours and I can walk to the other side of the house while still being connected.
can tell you never had expensive Bluetooth buds
I used to love wired earphones but then apple and android said "THAT'S IT KIDS I'VE HAD IT UP TO HERE NO MORE WIRED EARPHONES YOU ARE NO ONLY ABLE TO USE BLUETOOTH HEADPHONES TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT!" We obviously hated the fact that they took out the aux port their response "Alright FINE YOU WIN you can go back to using wired earphones BUT you will need a dongle to use them" cool concept but now we need to use a double dongle because if we use one we can't charge our phone while using it (sigh)
I miss the simple times of being able to do both without having to spend more money
I love my iPod classic I modded with 256GB SD card and 2000MAH battery. Last year I attended a wedding and left my phone at home. The fact I did that and just had my iPod and DSLR on me, made me enjoy the day so much more because I knew i would have just doom scrolled social media. I got to interact with the people that are now family. I really think we all need to put our phones down and take a look at the real world.
i remember my friend filming me asking a librarian for a book on how to read on a 5th gen ipod nano.
I hope apple will create an entertainment free iphone for productivity, in which you can only listen to music, use camera and only call and maybe use google map
I believe there is a mode you can use in the iPhone, I'm not certain since I have android. It's something like a simple mode, elderly and technically challenged people in mind.
I think there's a mode which is parental controls or something like that. You could block the apps and features you didn't want using that.@@bdelightful12
It already exists.... just delete all your social media profiles and that's it. I've done it two years ago and I haven't regretted it one bit :)
isn’t that just the iPod touch lol
They would use Apple maps
I have the same iPod nano (have had it since back in the day!). I whipped it out recently to see what the experience was like and I kinda loved the nostalgia of it. It was like opening a time capsule. But the downfall of it was the battery life is awful and charging it constantly got old FAST lol. I could def see it as a fun little escape from the web of algorithms we now somehow dwell in. And I looooove how light it is. I miss light, tiny tech. Excellent video 👏🏼
When I ordered mine I made sure to get one with a replacement 3rd party battery for that exact reason. It turns out there's still a community of people keeping these things afloat.
@@JoshWiniarski2 smart! I might pick up a used 7th gen since it has bluetooth. I agree with your points about how annoying wired headphones are. They're fine for desk/sitting on our asses use, but as soon as I move around, the cable gets snagged on EVERYTHING lol
7:24 If you’re looking for a similar form factor with Bluetooth you could try the 7th gen Nano
Yeah I have one and it’s awesome
It also has a fitness app
I remember seeing commercials where runners would put their ipods into an armband thing and it would connect to wired earbuds. I always wondered if it actually worked...
As a staunch wired earbuds hater, it was revolutionary when the wireless ones became available. I'm never going back; I'm impressed you even tried! 😬
The trick to wired headphones is a cable clip for the wire to your shirt. Run the headphones under your shirt, clip the cable at the neck on your shirt.
ive been collecting ipods for a bit & whenever i listened to music in the car, i preferred using an ipod bc i wanted to have physical buttons to change songs.
Plus i didnt have a headphone adapter
Actually the iPod mic sounded better than the other two lol. Less muffled
I love your channel, not filled with 100 facetunes, fakeness and other crap, you are genuine and fun, I subscribe to that.
I think what you’re describing that you want is a cellular Apple Watch. I have the SE2 and it’s amazing. It’s nice when I want to disconnect just leave my phone at home and I have everything I need with the watch. Can listen to music with Bluetooth and all the other stuff you want!
You can get a cheap Bluetooth transmitter that plugs directly into the dock port for like $10-$20 (probably weighted towards the former)
Are we living the same life? I just switched out my phone with a 5th gen nano to great success. It's always a great conversation starters at concerts too to record on the iPod
For your need of using something small and with Bluetooth to listen to music. Use a smartwatch! I use the Galaxy Watch + Galaxy Buds combo. I have Spotify premium which allows me to download music offline. I use to also carry my phone while running, but only using my watch is a game changer.
The camera was honestly better than I expected
I mostly use mine in the car. It’s still got all my favorite songs from when I first got it and it’s literally like nostalgia anytime I use it. I also keep headphones in my bag and occasionally if my AirPods are dead or I have no cell service (I don’t have any songs saved for offline) it’s nice to always have my nano and some earbuds in my backpack. The camera is horrible though and I never use it, although I did when I was a kid. I thought having that camera on me at all times was the coolest thing ever.
9:17 yeah I don’t get the whole wired headphones nostalgia either. People seem to forget how unpractical they were
My solution to this was get a 7th gen iPod touch and just don’t connect any Apple accounts to it. At that point you can load MP3s onto it like any other iPod touch but get full Bluetooth headphone functionality (example noise cancellation on AirPods Pro). 7th gen nano is great too but an iPod touch has way more storage. Another benefit to the touch is you can save music from a streaming device offline and just turn off WiFi. It’s still way smaller than a modern smartphone
When you mod a full size classic you typically replace the heavy internal hard drive with an sd card and adapter. You can also install a bluetooth chip, larger battery and usb-c. And there are a handful of ways to cut the iTunes cord. I love my 7th gen and I use it every day.
1:02 : the struggles of having a wired headphones 😂😂😂
In the era of tws I almost forgot this struggle and how frustrating it used to be.
the ipod camera was honestly way better than i expected
Love the vids!! Found you because of this vid and explored the others!! Great editing and pacing!! Keep making videos! Subbed now!
Thanks so much!
The filming and editing are on point. Congrats on the work!
Thank you!
Replace the earbuds with IEMs from Moondrop or KZ (around $20) and you’ll have a great budget set up, also less likely to fall out of your ear than the iPod headphones.
I modded an ipod classic, good battery, Bluetooth, good battery. Loaded it wh audioboojs, music and podcasts. I absolutely love it.
You know you can sync any old MP3 to any old iPod, right? You don’t need to use iTunes to buy music, you just need it to add songs to your device. Best part is, if you’re like me, and have a large collection of cds, you can rip them to your iTunes library.
You are now aware that there are modern, 2024 mp3 players that feature bluetooth.
be careful with socks on stairs!
"WELL IM NOT PARALYZED BUT I SEEM TO BE STRUCK BY YOU"
I still have this exact ipod nano in pink. It looks new. Still have the original package and cables. I wanted an Ipod touch at the time but couldn't afford it, so I bought the Ipod nano instead. I barely used it.
i still have mine! i have the yellow. i remember feeling so cool with that camera and i made a good amount of youtube videos on my old channel with just that ipod. still works i havent got the battery bloat issue yet.
Put on the earphones before wearing your t shirt, it would never obstruct your daily routine
DID YOU JUST SAY COOL KIDS TO ME? I DON'T WANT TO HEAR THAT AGAIN
Great video! I've been thinking of using my old iPod touch for this. I think it'd be a cool idea but this video made me maybe reconsider lol
I think the best option at that point is to find an iPod Touch 7th gen. You can get them in higher storage sizes, have retina screens, cameras that are somewhat tolerable, internet access, bluetooth, and you can just not download any applications or connect it to anything that will give you notifications. They aren't as small and light as nanos, but very light in comparison to any modern smartphone
You deserve so much more attention with this kind of quality 🙌🙌
Thank you 🙂
I didn’t know those era of iPods were still available 😂
Basically you need an iPod touch with a broken Wi-Fi
The iPod Classic 7th generation is a solid choice if you're looking for a device with substantial storage and a familiar click wheel interface. It typically offers 160GB of storage, which should be ample for music, movies, and TV episodes. The battery life is around 36 hours for music playback and 6 hours for video playback. It has a 2.5-inch color display, good for browsing music and watching videos. The click wheel interface is intuitive and easy to use. Given the budget, consider second-hand or refurbished options.
if bro is gonna wake up with the black spot, then RIP, he died because of a little mp3 player
I use a 6th Gen classic I bought off a neighbor, I can only afford the lower storage end of refurb flagships, rocking a 128GB S22, I needed something to offload my music to and being a huge fan of Dankpods I just went for it, don't regret it for a moment
I have an old Touch 4gen, its great, same features as the Classic and Nano, but touch-keyboard included and also Bluetooth connection, Wifi music Sync
I’m still obsessed with my iPhone 15 Pro Max, but I’m never distracted by texts. I have Do Not Disturb on and ignore the messages until the song or video ends.
I preferred the audio when you were filming with the nano tbh. Also did you see that the nano 7 has bluetooth? I think you can use bluetooth headphones with it.
Alternate title: "i tried replacing my phone with an mp3 player because i don't need to make calls"
My phone got stolen in Bali by a pick pocketer and I was without a phone for 3 days. I had to learn the area because before losing my phone I relied on maps to get around. It took me a day to memorise a 10km radius in Bali. It sucked when I had nothing to do in my hotel room at night
every mp3 player was so much better.
how on earth do bad and ugly things actually become popular ?
I forgot how it wasn’t actually that bad a quality, I sorta remember these but I thought the video quality was way worse, like pixels here and there but then I realized it’s Apple and in 09 this was revolutionary
okay, yeah you seriously would love the ipod nano 7th gen my guy. i know a good place to buy them if you want (i know a seller on ebay that sells them with new batteries)
Dudeee I did the exact same thing for a week! but instead of the iPod Nano 5th gen I chose the 7th gen because it has the lightning port and Bluetooth, doesn't have camera or speaker though sadly, it's a trade off but for me it was worth it because I could use AirPods with it and lightning cables.
i have tried a lot of things but lately i just turn on airplane mode, and keep my playlists and songs downloaded/
''all the cool kids had ipod nano's''
wow america is so strange.
Mf listening to imagine dragons😭😭
OK young money
Which wired earbuds did you purchase? Thanks! Great video!!
Nah have fun replacing the battery when it starts to go full samgsung note 7💀💀
7:25 so basically the iPod Nano 7th gen :)
Came here to say this
6:44 you’re telling me your “better earbuds” are delta airline earbuds? maybe they fit better but apple earpods sound amazing. Oh also *you could’ve downloaded mp3s and added them to itunes if you didn’t wanna pay for music* you could then add all the album artwork and everything else so it would look like you purchased it. And the 30 pin cable wasn’t proprietary. Yeah it was only on apple devices but you could find lots of off brand ones. Oh and at 8:20, back then that wasn’t weird at all. But now it’s so hard to get it to work. I remember I was able to get my version of outlook to work with itunes so whenever I docked my ipod to my computer it would always sync the latest info. My photo library, contacts, podcasts, and even tv shows if I bought them, as I also had an apple tv. Oh yeah that also reminds me, you could totally get some youtube videos on there too. I was thinking about it the other day, yeah this screen is so small my eyesight would be ruined, But then if you compare it to one of the smaller iphones watching youtube in non full screen mode… It’s the same size 😂😂
if you want more storage I suggest elite obsolete electronics. They have custom custom colors and storage options.
i would avoid them right now, many people have reported bad experiences
@@synkronized Yes... i've heard that.
id check on that battery, they tend to have issues where the battery expands and kills your device.
also, anything prior to the 6th gen nano's are basically bombs now since there wasn't enough space inside for the batteries to swell... so now that the chemical makeup of the batteries is deteriorating and starting to expand, they become spicy combustable pillows...
You could get it replaced the moment you get it, ik that its almost impossible to get a spicy pillow out of a ipod nano 2/4/5 gen shell
I noticed that the batteries begin to expand when it’s no longer able to even hold a charge anymore
0:24 turn on do not disturb
Hes on an android
You should've gotten the 7th gen ipod nano or the get a bluetooth adapter that plugs in the headphone jack and allows bluetooth connectivity that way.
Clearly you haven’t seen my video about how a pocket notebook can replace your phone…… jk 😂😂
Oh I've got to get into notebooks at some point!
The microphone on the nano is actually very loud compared to your phone and camera
so what kind of device in this form factor also offers bluetooth in order to use it with wireless buds?
iPod nano 7th gen
The Apple Watch is pretty much what you were describing in your running segment, mute all notifications and you got yourself a wrist iPod with the latest Bluetooth technology. It has all the music apps and podcast apps.
I’m pretty much trying to do the same accept I’m using my 80gb classic
That’s why I got cheaper knockoff mp3 player from Amazon, it has Bluetooth, usb-c and without the limitations of ITunes. I love using it when I’m studying or relaxing.
Which npc type of person has their emails for push notifications
I have the same iPod it’s honestly so useful for me I spent days adding music lol
Which seller on ebay is a trusted seller some of these cats look sketchy! Lol
I usually just go off of positive seller ratings/feedback. But it's eBay so you never know.
Noo don't get an iPod nano. Replace that battery asap if you dont want the note 7 happening
Thankfully, a lot of the ones on eBay (including the one I bought) have already had the batteries swapped with new 3rd party ones 😉
you can get an ipod 5th gen and mod it with blue tooth
Damn. Good joke
It appeared the first comment
you can put bluetooth on it whit those bluetooth phone plugs for old devices
You could get one of those 30 pin bluetooth adapters if thats the only problem and you dont want to change the ipod with a 7th gen nano
The ipods built in camera and mic is not even bad for the time and the fact that it is a cheaper iPod, which is a music player.
7th gen nano my guy... battery replacements suck but i've done several without issues (it has bluetooth and lightning!)
You could get a ipod classic and a plugin Bluetooth adapter. You can mod it for more storage, and the battery won’t expand and push out the display and make a fire hazard
An apple watch is the way to go if you want to run freely with music on. No phone or ipod in your hands or pocket, just a watch on your wrist and airpods in your ears (you can keep the airpods case at home). It’s running on it’s best. For the rest, yeah iPad nano
Found Kirby 🎉
Thanks for testing what came to my mind lately. Seeing this, I likely won’t do this 😂
tech was way cooler back in the day. the only thing really super cool now is the video capability on phones these days.
Did you think about buying a unihertz jelly star :)?? mini mini smartphone
I’m looking into getting an iPod cause I cbf with Bluetooth , charging my headphones, and having my phone not be able to listen to wired devices without another cable - shit is annoying
I’ve lost to many apple adapters- I’m rage quitting
People actually used to live like this hmmm
I got an idea to connect a wireless earbuds. Make a video using the Twelve South AirFly with the iPod nano 5th generation.
you are basically looking for an Apple Watch - there, problem solved
Get a first gen iphone se for under $100. It has a great camera, speakers, headphone jack, large screen, bluetooth, wifi and plenty of room for local storage.
I replaced the battery of my ipod nano 1st 4gb and it's very pleasant to use.
It has a 35mm jack… just plug it into a small external speaker (at home, not at the gym, of course)
Beware the nano battery bloats after a while and it's difficult to repair to not say imposible.
Next time try to replace your phone with a fridge
iPod nano 7th (i tihnk its smaller and it got bluetooth and radio)
Go to your library and rip CDs if u want more songs lol
What about a smartwatch with offline Spotify and some Bluetooth earbuds?
Or the mighty Spotify music player?
I just use my phone, I don't have any friends so I don't get tons of messages. If I did have friends I could always turn on do not disturb mode to ignore notifications.
It is insanely overpriced to buy a ipod, then you’d also need a computer, and a apple account
