iPhone 6 (10 years old), MacBook Pro 2012 and iMac 5K late 2015 here, I hate throwing away tech after 2-4 years like many people do nowadays, why spend so much money on new tech unless, you NEED the more powerful / newer devices for MUCH faster workflows when old tech mostly works 80% just as good...
The ipod nano was my first apple device and I still believe it's the representation of the best design apple ever made and it's double use as a smartwatch was just amazing back in 2011
I've had my PortaPros for over 15 years now and still use them regularly. Good headphones don't become obsolete and given that these are wired, there's no battery that would die after a couple of years. The only thing that needs replacing from time to time are the ear cushions, which are cheap and readily available.
4:28 A small note as a professional sound recordist, the SM7b is a minor update to the original SM7 which was originally released in 1973, and has been a staple of radio stations for the last 50 years. I probably wouldn't go so far as to call it the best microphone on the market, but its certainly very capable in its niche and price bracket.
Still use an Apple Cinema Display from 2004. It’s 1440p resolution which is crazy for a 20 year old monitor. Still looks modern and is crystal clear with my 2021 MacBook Pro 14. Makes a great screen for photo and video editing. I also use a denon avr2805 av receiver which works flawlessly and sounds amazing with my bookshelf speakers. Won’t be replacing it anytime soon
Koss has very good quality audio for the price they offer and a lot of users pair it with a portable DAC, I use it with an ifi hip-dac and for the love of god. "Chefs kiss".
3:54 it's called a MINI DV camera. It is a digital recording on tape instead of analog like vhs. There were small vhs tapes, but they were still bigger than mini dv tapes :)
It's ironical that older techs were built in such a way that it lasts for years, whereas new techs are built keeping in mind that it needs to be outdated in a very short time so that people are forced to buy new iterations.
My iPod Classic 7th Gen is a perfect example of me still using old tech in a modern day setting. I’ve replaced mine with a 2000mah battery, 1TB of flash storage and new housing and faceplate and it’s amazing! I use it as my main music source now.
Thanks for the video! I appreciate the lack of fluff and nonsense! You deserve far more than 5k subs! I would recommend either changing the warm bulb at the back of your set, either that or change some shutter speed settings cause at the mo it's flicker is a bit distracting!
Thank you so much Alex for kind words! Sorry for the flickering, didn’t know that it really disturbs the viewing experience. I’ll fix it Thanks for noting
I use an SE 2 as well. It has no problems at all except battery. I just carry a small power bank and I saved thousands of dollars to get the same battery life as a new phone. Just proves you don’t need a new phone every year
I am the same still using iPod nano 6th, take it with me whether going to cafe or traveling somewhere. I am still amazed it's still working wonderfully after all these years! It's a great little company whenever I am out by myself.
I wish I never sold my ps2 or my xbox 360. Lookin back they hold so much nostalgic value now, as they were my late childhood early teen devices I used a lot. They would have still even been useful today. And now that you mentioned, damn I miss iPod Nano.
Last year for my Birthday, I asked and recived the iPhone SE 2 due to it being a cheap phone that still gets updates and due to it having a home button {obsessed with home buttons}. It's a great phone, works incredibly quick despite being 4 years old and I adore it!

Nice! I have those Porta Pro and its such a classic design! I loved it when I was in Uni 15 years ago, I love it still! Also, as an Idea for Old tech that is usable - I bought a receiver Denon DRM 365 for around 85$ and it rocks the whole block. Adding to this old HI-FI stereo pair fro 60$ and you have a perfect Hi-Fi setup, especially if playing 192khz/24bit (and better) uncompressed audio!
Old tech was just as good if not better is true for most higher end audio stuff just because audio is analog and it's been figured out ages ago. 20, 40, 60 yo audio equipment is just as good as modern one. What's evolved is interface and such. Better conversion to digital signal thus accessible on a computer or for example made wireless, tho that still lacks quality compared to wired. Small electronics have just become such a big part of our daily lives, they have also become an extension of one's style or even status. That's why some people feel the need to always buy the new tech, just like buying new clothes.

Hey man, trying to detech my life, just wondering where you got all your music for the iPod? Did you pay for all of it or get it downloaded from some site? Thanks!
I intend on keeping my iPhone 12 Mini for a while, I've recently moved back to it after the battery in my Pixel 6 started swelling, but I just hate how big phones have gotten. Even with my Pixel (not the Pro model, so it had the smaller 6.1' screen) it felt like a total behemoth in my hand, it was annoying to use at times & I only tolerated it because of CalyxOS. It was also slippery in the hand, meaning I had to make it that bit bigger by putting a case on it.
I still use my iPod touch 6G to listen to music, my AirPods Pro work perfectly with it and I also get the headphone jack back if my AirPods are dead or I want perfect lossless music. I save storage space on my phone and don’t get interrupted with pings while I’m trying to enjoy my music. I wish Apple didn’t kill the iPods off, I’ve gone back to listening to music on my phone before but I just got annoyed with things playing over my music, the phone battery being zapped and the storage being hogged. The iPod’s battery is terrible and it has been since the day I got it, but if I turn off WiFi and don’t use anything else it can do me for several hours. I’d just love an updated one, but I treasure my iPod, I’ve had it for 6 and a half years and it’s still serving me very well!
it’d be amazing if the ipod nano 6G released today with spotify and apply music 😭 and also i love it when i get amazing creators, like you, on my feed ❤
Even iPhone 13pm was 3 years old and still feel not much different from what we have now. M1 Macbook Air is definitely a revolutionary laptop that can bring the battery life to iPad level.
Had a ton of those Porta Pro's back in the day (got the original pair with a sony minidisc player), they used to(don't know if they do anymore) come with lifetime warranty where I lived. So every time I managed to accidentally sit on them, I got a new pair for free. Best deal of my life. The metal band is somewhat annoying and your hair will get stuck in it tho.
If I could load some kinda Tidal onto my smartwatch, I'd leave my phone at home. And if I had one with an SD card, I'd just need the calls, Tidal and I'm not sure if I'd need anything else for a regular walk.
i personally use macbook air (m2, 2022), iphone 13 pro max (2021), ipad pro 11' (2021), iphone 6s plus (2015), samsung digital camera (idk the name, 2009), sony camcorder (2007), and canon eos 400d (2006).
Quite an interesting video. I use a nearly 4 year old Samsung s21 ultra for most stuff and is the newest tech I use. Still use a 7 year old Canon Dslr, 10 year old HP laptop, 12 year old Ipod touch and even been using a couple 80s slr 35mm film cameras for photography. I do want to use my grandparents 1996 sony handycam for videos but need to work out the best way to record with it.
it has mini dv so I've tried using apple adapters - mini dv to firewire, firewire to usb c. But it didn't work :( and this connectivity supposedly provides the highest quality. So as of now I just use a cheap adapter "S-Video to usb", it works, but quality is not that good, makes it even more old haha, but still kinda works for me

I use an iPhone XR, and it still works well. Before that, I had an iPhone 7 until March/January 2023, and only the battery was bad after years. Nobody needs tne news Tech
I think it is really unnecessary to launch new products every year these days because there are not many upgrades. Companies want to increase their profits so consumers need to be alert.
It's crazy how much of a downgrade apple products have been, when Jobs was still alive we were getting quite literally revolutionary stuff, now its just a copy paste with minor edits.

Agreed!
Apple now : oh we dont have space for headphone jack in a 7inch iphone
Apple back then : lets put the headphone jack in this 2inch device
💀damn
courage to suck.
One of the iPod Shuffle models charged through the headphone jack.

Because the other tech that you have is super slow and outdated , I'm sure the battery life on your iPhone 6. Another devices is really really bad.
Get another phone dude, just let it go
@@pixelsovertears I know, you're right, I will this December actually, but I just wanted make point :)

iPod Classic with 512gb SSD and new battery, using Koss PortaPros too!!
I am still using the first gen SE as backup for my 12 mini. I use "outdated" tech because there are no newer small phones.
