@TTRPGeniuses So I did this idea for a series of 10 rooms with increasing puzzle difficulties, each having a hook horror that joins the original in the first room, hunting the 7th level party . The puzzles went from a maze to breaking the wizards hands to stop him from casting somatic spells. So Saw, but DND
make sure to play it up beforehand! weird high pitch ringings in the players ears. Have there be unusual rock formations with strange deep gouges. Describe scattered remnants of gear, bones, or splintered armor that hint at a large, predatory creature! You're gonna do great and I'm excited to hear all about it!
Every time I’ve fought a hook horror in a campaign I never gave it much thought if it was scary or not. Not to just blame the DMs, ok I am, but I feel like they misused them.
Its definitely a creature that benefits from foreshadowing and the right setup! Like finding a corpse torn to shreds or hearing strange screeches in the distance!
"What has the face of a vulture, claws like sickles and hunts you by sound alone?"
Me. I'm gonna get you
😱 May the dice gods be in my favor then hahaha
Make it blind and suddenly we have a legal cease and disist letter-
And the Pinkertons knocking on your door!
Hey, I used this in a Halloween One - Shot
That's Awesome! Howd it go? A few years ago our level 5 party almost got TPKd by a group of them hahaha

@@Latverian-Citizen-8172 that sounds like fun! A saw inspired DnD One-shot
@@TTRPGeniuses yep 😊
I really like the way you described this creature, I’m using in in my next session as a small road block

I remember having a baby one of these as a pet in a campaign I played a few years back. Good times
That's a great Idea, I might need to make it into a statblock!
This guys really hooked on phonics! 🤡
