I agree i hear the James Brown vibe too - my plan is to one day go to a church in the south and sit in and listen to gospel - i always loved the sound of gospel music - what better way than to do it in person
6:11 to cover Janis’s sinful dance moves, please enjoy Jesus playing the saxophone. 😅😂 🎷 Janis was pushing Tom to his *limit* in this performance, and he didn’t disappoint! One of the few women who ever could, and Tom was one of the few people who could keep up with Janis’s crazy-beautiful energy. ❤️❤️❤️
He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth and is now Sir Tom Jones and is 80 and still has a fantastic voice, Sadly Janiis died soon after this performance. Sir Tom and Elvis were great friends
I remember being excited for the summer Tom Jones Variety Show. My mother and aunts would be swooning over Tom. But Tom had top acts on his show. Underwear throwing at Tom on every show. Loved it!
This was so cool. Hope you get into some more Janis Joplin. Maybe check out her live performance at Monterey Pop of “ Ball and Chain”. She was influenced by one of the great female blues artist “Big Mama Thornton”
Ps: I see the requests are flying, and I agree with most, but I'd love to throw my vote in, for "This is a Man's World"... James Brown & Pavorotti! Talk about GOOSE BUMPS!!😉
First of all Half and Jai I love your reactions. I am a Boomer listening to this back in the day. It was raw and real. Now I am 68 and those are bygone days. This was real heart and soul music. Today...ugh. I love that you appreciate it. But as they say history repeats itself. Time to bring it back home. Do I hear an AMEN!
New subscriber & absolutely addicted to you guys. You brighten my days. Have So many I'd love to see you react to. Kid Rock Amen Miranda Lambert gunpowder & lead Janis Joplin me & Bobby mcgee
I just found your video for aerosmith don't wanna miss a thing, and I instantly subscribed.... So my face seeing you watching Tom Jones as a welsh girl beamed! You guys are awesome, honestly, instant subscriber, best wishes from Wales! ❤️🏴
You both are "SPOT ON" It's both James Brown and the First Baptist Church I used to go to in Texas. As far as the actor he looks like at that time, I would say he looks like Mac Davis. I absolutely love you two. Jae's laugh melts my heart. I'm the Homeless Outreach Coordinator for Beaver County PA and as soon as I get home, I have to watch your reactions. Half, I love that you can laugh at yourself and I love it when you wipe your woman's tears from her eyes. Y'all brighten my life! I truly mean that. ❤️
Tom's voice is transcendent! And Janis's had this bluesy souls! This amazing! As far as the actors Tom kind of looks like, I'm thinking you're thinking either Gene Hackman, who's hair was like that when he played Lex Luthor in the 70's Superman movie. The other actor, is William Shattner by the 70's had hair like that, and both had a passing resemblance to each other and Tom
I don't know if you noticed what they say to each other they looked at each other they danced with each other and at the end they hugged each other they don't do that today which is what I miss from a duet they also knew the song heck they don't even do that when they're married on stage I miss those type of duet Tom Jones as many of them
The actor you re thinking about has to be James Caan (played Sonny in The Godfather). I like you two a lot, I think you re genuinely great people. Keep jivin, my friends.
Hey Half , great reaction ...the actor that i think you are talking about is that one from the godfather , Jimmy Caan that played the older brother on the family , and the two really reminds of each other phisically...
I am a year late to this reaction but I just wanted to say: at the 3:00 mark Half ponders if Tom Jones resembles an actor. I always thought Tom looked a bit like Bert Convy who was an actor, singer and game show host in the 70's and 80's. He tragically passed from a brain tumor in 1991 (at 57 years old).
James Brown is church too! Don’t fuss. Tom Jones is a great entertainer but Janis Joplin was a force of nature who came and went like a summer storm. He was outgunned here 😝
I fully agree, and I was so disappointed they didn’t even comment on Janis, one of the Giants of the industry , and she was taken way too soon ❤️❤️🇦🇺🇦🇺
It's funny one of y'all said james brown vibes and the other one said church vibes have y'all ever seen the james brown movie get on up if not check it out you'll see he was influenced a lot by church so o can see why y'all both said church and james brown this a great song both singers have great voices and seemed tobe enjoying themselves which made the song even more enjoyable and if y'all haven't reacted any janis joplin y'all should check her out ball and chain piece of my heart are just two of her great songs🔥🎶🔥
A great duet with Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews (also Welsh like Tom) is Baby it's cold outside. Please have a listen . Also if you can fit it in Luka .by Sussanne Vega please. You have to listen to lyrics . Music is good song is sad . Well worth a listen... 👍✌
Highly suggest you react to Dusty Springfield's "Can I get a witness" a lot of UK Artists were influenced by soul and RnB from the states especially Motown. There's even a genre in the UK That's called "Northern Soul"
You couldn't possibly get through everyone's so I just want you to know I didn't unsubscribe because of anything personal AT ALL... just to check out reaction sites with less traffic. Love light and peace from Scotland. Oh and of course good vibes .👍✌
Please look up Cry baby and Piece of my heart by Janis. They will show you why she was such an influence on my generation. No body could put their soul into a song like Pearl. 💖💖💖
Tom was good. Janis was in another league altogether. Her biggest influence was Otis Redding. At the peak of her short reign, she was unbeatable. I hope she is singing with Otis, wherever they are now.
This dancing is amazing 😂
My girl! I saw her twice live. No one like her.
It is indeed church like, they are testifying.
They taking it to church that's for sure. 👍🏻👍🏻
Tom and Janis are so bad ass together! 😍
Tom Jones loved to do duets with singers he respected, he's done so many.
Epic performance
Child of the 70’s! We were so blessed!
Real funk right there
I agree i hear the James Brown vibe too - my plan is to one day go to a church in the south and sit in and listen to gospel - i always loved the sound of gospel music - what better way than to do it in person
Great Reaction Guy's

Janis Joplin Work Me Lord Live in Stockholm 1969. You won't be disappointed!
Janis has to be the very best female rock singer ever
The guy in the white outfit behind Tom and Janis is going to give himself whiplash...fun, though
Janis opens with her big pipes....Tom comes in with his big lungs
Second verse: Janis....hold my beer.
🙉
Love how the band be grooving off each other.
He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth and is now Sir Tom Jones and is 80 and still has a fantastic voice, Sadly Janiis died soon after this performance. Sir Tom and Elvis were great friends

"Raise your hand if you're Sure." I remember that commercial! Damn I am old.
I think the deodorant was called Sure,,, raise your hand if you're sure lol

Who said my Bucket List Wish couldn't happen? Okay 👌.
This was so cool. Hope you get into some more Janis Joplin. Maybe check out her live performance at Monterey Pop of “ Ball and Chain”. She was influenced by one of the great female blues artist “Big Mama Thornton”

Two people from two completely different musical genres at the time.
His duet with Wilson Pickett from his variety show is amazing!
Robert Reed, the dad on Brady Bunch.
I think he looks like Oliver Reed. A young Oliver.
Another awesome Tom video is with Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. It's live, the song is called Long Time Gone.
New subscriber & absolutely addicted to you guys. You brighten my days. Have So many I'd love to see you react to. Kid Rock Amen
Miranda Lambert gunpowder & lead
Janis Joplin me & Bobby mcgee
You might be thinking of the actor Steve Guttenberg from the Police Academy films.
Tom Jones is one of my favorite singers. Love his song What’s up pussycat
OMG!!!!!!! I've loved Janis and this performance for over two decades now!!!!! Thank you for this!!!!!
I love how she got him to loosen up & just let go! Got him hollerin' & carryin' on! Lol Love it. Two of my faves. Try out "Turtle Blues" from Janis
She is one of my all time favorites. I love that jazzy loungy voice in a woman.
I just found your video for aerosmith don't wanna miss a thing, and I instantly subscribed.... So my face seeing you watching Tom Jones as a welsh girl beamed! You guys are awesome, honestly, instant subscriber, best wishes from Wales! ❤️🏴
I love this video, the chemistry. Plus they both had reputations for “fun” - they are awesome together!! The dancing is crazy funny!!! Love it!!
You both are "SPOT ON" It's both James Brown and the First Baptist Church I used to go to in Texas. As far as the actor he looks like at that time, I would say he looks like Mac Davis. he was thinking about David Hasselhoff from knight rider
I don't know if you noticed what they say to each other they looked at each other they danced with each other and at the end they hugged each other they don't do that today which is what I miss from a duet they also knew the song heck they don't even do that when they're married on stage I miss those type of duet Tom Jones as many of them
He is a judge on the UL version of The Voice- still going strong in his 80s
My mother loved Tom Jones... he looks like Robert Reed, he played Mike Brady from the Brady Bunch...
Tom Jones had his own show way way back in the day
Love that Platinum too bruh!
Yessss! ❤️☝🏻💕🤗
Thank you for doing this one...
I'm a big Janis fan, and never heard this one before
The actor you re thinking about has to be James Caan (played Sonny in The Godfather).
I like you two a lot, I think you re genuinely great people. Keep jivin, my friends.
Wow! I've never heard or known of this, super great! I really love the 2 of you as well, so woohoo! What a great day you've made for me, thank you!♥️
That was a great collaboration ❤️👏
And I’m thinking he kinda looks like David Hasselhoff from Night Rider/Baywatch 🤔
Exactly who I thought about for sure
"Looks like an actor". I'm going with Steve Guttenberg. Never really thought about that.
I think you guys would enjoy Joss Stone ft Common "Tell Me What We're Gonna Do". A great upbeat love song
Hey Half , great reaction ...the actor that i think you are talking about is that one from the godfather , Jimmy Caan that played the older brother on the family , and the two really reminds of each other phisically...
This was fun I have never seen this. Great performers! That was a jam session.
You should check out Tom Jones and Tina Turner. Now that is something to see.
I’d like to request Tom Jones & Joe Cocker - Delta Lady
Great reaction video 📹
What an odd combination, Wow does it work. Amazing
He looks like the Dad on the Brady Bunch...!!!
Yes!
Robert Reed was the actor. I thought the same.
I am a year late to this reaction but I just wanted to say: at the 3:00 mark Half ponders if Tom Jones resembles an actor. This is a new Tom Jones performance I’ve never heard
I've had this song on cd for years cause I adore Janis and I loved discovering the video!!!
Please do Tom Jones "I Who Have Nothing"....it's incredible!
I love y'all. Just showing love. Keep it up!
Knew you would like it!
Tom did some amazing duets. but his duet with rock guitar king Mark Knopfler on "Feel Like Going Home" is outstanding.
He made an appearance on Fresh Prince of Belaire
You've got to check out Tom's songs Without Love and She's A Lady!! Please!!
One year later, Joplin was dead. She died 3 weeks and a day after Jimi Hendrix. Both were 27.
Y’all need to see Tom Jones and Joss Stone
Yeah James Brown vibe for sure...and then toward the end church vibe as well
Jai nailed it with the comment about it feelin' like JB! hey Half...it's the Church of JB
“Free your mind” by En Vogue, “Good Morning Heartache” by Freddie Jackson, “Lie to Me” by Jonny Lang, “When a Man Loves a Woman” by Michael Bolton.
I’m getting BOTH vibes. James for a minute though.
In a sense you're both right.
It had a James Brown feel, but his music always had a churchy feel because he started out a gospel singer.

These best of the best!!! He wasn't for sure how to react at first lol
He's a judge on a talent shows
Please look up Cry baby and Piece of my heart by Janis. They will show you why she was such an influence on my generation. No body could put their soul into a song like Pearl. 💖💖💖
James Brown had a church vibe - his funk came from Gospel roots-so you were both right.
remind's me of james caan
I agree with both... James Brown & church
☮️💜
We had fun, didn’t we? ❤️
You guys need to see if you can find some Tower Of Power videos to react to. I would suggest "Knock Yourself Out" or "What Is Hip".
React to Janis Joplin "Summertime"....
Pearl was the leader of a Generation. Sadly we lost her MUCH TO SOON !!!💔💔💔
The BEST collaboration I think Tom has done was with Wilson Pickett. Check it out!!!!
Tom was good.
Janis was in another league altogether. Her biggest influence was Otis Redding.
At the peak of her short reign, she was unbeatable. I hope she is singing with Otis, wherever they are now.
Starsky from the Starsky & Hutch tv series 😁
Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews. It's cold outside Please 👍✌🌷
I'm with Jai, it gives me more of a James Brown feel
Tom Jones lookin like the actor James Caan "Sonny" in The Godfather and other movies.....way back.....same hairdo when it was cool
I have to agree wt Jai definitely more of a James brown vibe
James Brown feel. That's what I think. I've always thought of Janis as the female James Brown, or James Brown as the male Janis Joplin.
Well said
