Yayyyyy! My girl Janis- a true original! That’s her band- The Kozmic Blues Band. Notice how the camera went to Jesus on the sax to conceal Janis backing it up on Tom!
My first crush was Janis.❤❤
My older sisters and I watched this at the time because our mom and aunt were in love with Tom and his variety show. ❤️
Janis reminds me of Joe Cocker sometimes...in the fact that she is not only great to listen to but she is so much fun to watch...love her passion! Great performance from both of them!
Very good comparison that I'd never thought of in 50 years. Similar difficulties with everyday life too.
Tom Jones was classified middle of the road and his show was expected to be MoR. But he brought in guest artistes who were closer to his true musical roots of blues and rock 'n roll
I wish the react to " Delta Lady " with Tom Jones, and Joe Cocker. :)
Consider watching Janis' sublime performance of "Little Girl Blue" from that very same tv show; it's sad enough to leave you gutted.
I was about to add the same comment. I love Janis, that performance gives me goosebumps every time I watch it
I gotta tell you guys.....we watched this kinda stuff on tv all the time 70's was so much better than today. Love your channel keep it up.
Janis was a force of nature, so nice to see her so clearly happy.
Going by interviews, this was one of her personal highlights of her life and she loved it. Tom Jones alo cites this as one of his favourite performances ... and he's sang with EVERYONE. Sadly, within 10 months, she'd be dead.
Hey T let's see you dance like the guy in the back, lol
How great was that? Two great talents and the energy just jumps off the screen. Tremendous band as well. You really need more Janis on the channel. This was so much fun to see. ❤
The band was called Kozmic Blues (it was Janis' own band she brought with her especially for this duet and dance on this episode of This Is Tom Jones, Tom's wildly popular musical variety show). Tom had no end of legendary artists as guests on his show (and the duets they and Tom shared are awesome!).
There is an interview with Janis on the Dick Cavett show it gives you an sight into her personality, she was a pull no punches girl, she would give it to people straight.
Tom could really move ... saw him 14 times in concert back in the day ... he drove the women wild when he danced !!!
I never seen this either.. Janis as you can tell is AMAZING! Please do some Joplin songs.. Cry baby should be the first one.. then Ball and chain
look at the ppl there. LOOK at them, they are going berserk, thats pure joy insanity
actually, I discovered how good Tom Jones of a singer is exactly due to this clip, knew Janis long before, shes to this day probably my favorite female singer
This is from Tom's tv show in the late 60's. He has a bunch of great duets with the big singers of the day back then. His stuff with Wilson Pickett is amazing.
Amazing performance. They could've plugged them into the national grid and powered the entire state from this. Full marks to the band, too - they were playing hot! RIP Janis - a legend - and long live Tom!
Wow amazing I never heard this song before Tom Jones crushed it and Janis what can you say she is always amazing. Gone to soon we lost so many great artist during the 70's.
So much fun watching this reaction, really enjoyed everything you had to say.
This is a kick arse song and performance. I believe I’m right in saying this was their only duet as Janis died a year after this show.
I always love this video Tom freaks out all the sudden out of nowhere Janis starts backing it up on him🤣🤣
You guys reacted to Janis doing "Piece of My Heart" a couple of years ago.
This was back in the day when people didn't need auto tune to sound good and they actually had bands that knew how to play instruments . Also on the same show she's saying little girl blue which was amazing and is my favorite song
Yeah Janis!!! Plus Tom. Cant lose ever!!
This whole scene, it is like a time warp. Everything about it. So good! ❤️❤️✌️
There's copycat performers but there will never be another Janis Joplin.
Janis is untouchable. Arguments welcomed.
The Illuminati 27 club includes Janis, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Brian Jones (founder of the Rolling Stones) and sooo many other Great stars not only in music but entertainment as a whole. ✌
Yep and Amy Winehouse more recently. Its something satanic in nature
You should watch the duet by Tom Jones with Stevie Wonder too.
Janis is great of course and many have only seen a bit of Tom Jones so they don't know how good a dancer he was. He could really dance.
I watched another reaction the other day and his comment was "white people used to have soul back in the sixties and seventies...what happened?" I think back in the seventies somebody decided there was a difference. That there was "black music" and "white music" That's just sad. Music is music and belongs to everybody. Although I can't unsee Tom dancing in this video. I am happy that, culturally, we're more at a place that music transcends race and culture.
You would love her summertime live, crybaby live & Ball & Chain live performances 😊
Tom had a TV show in the 70s...and different guests showed up
Now watch Tom and Wilson Pickett! 🔥🔥🔥
I'm pretty sure those dancers were paid! Even so, it was great
Tom jones and Joe cocker delta lady next
Ok, Tasha, a bucket list must.
Golden gate park, San Francisco. Find the Janis tree, leave something like I did.
A few years ago Rolling Stone released their 100 Greatest Singers of All Time and they put Janis Joplin at The 28th Greatest Singer of All Time.
I said wow at the same time,
I have never seen this performance before. WOW
Holy cow!! I love them both, but I never would have put them together. Amazing!
Exactly. Twerking wasn't permissable then!
Tom Jones was known to wear extremely tight pants, and was said to be a very healthy man (wink wink nudge nudge). And Janice was known to go after what she wanted, without apology. I don't remember seeing this performance, but I'm sure it caused rumors.
As far as the quiet audiences in some videos, it depended a lot on the venue, and the artist. Much like today, a gathering of younger people with an alternative point of view on society, could not afford to cause too much of a ruckus. Authorities were only too glad to help you leave the premises. And in concert halls or TV programs, some just did not allow it.
Yes, but sexy dancing like that was pretty taboo back then!
She made Tom look conservative 😊 LittleMs.Force of Nature! ❤❤
Tom had his own tonight show, this was from that, he does one with Stevie Wonder as well
There are so many really cool duets with Tom. He had a weekly variety show in the 70's I don't remember this but I investigated that rabit hole!!! 😉❤💚
I highly recommend Janis Joplin’s live cover of summertime.
Love it!
Thanks for Posting. GOD BLESS YOU STAY WELL 🌹 RESPECT 💯🏅
People often forget that Janis is from Port Arthur, Texas....
Love your reactions! Always brightens my day. Love and Peace to you and Your family. You both are amazing!❤
ya'll are awesome! great reaction
Janis was so wild. But that's Just the way she was full of energy. This was a great video of both of them together. Even the people in the background are having a good time
still can't stand around when I hear this. Ol man jumping n jive!!!
I think this is my favorite Janis reaction on RUclips. I love how you picked up on Janis, backin it up on Tom.
That was my favorite part of the video. The whole thing smokes.
I don't know if you saw hard singing me and bobby mcgee
I am new to your channel. I really enjoy watching and listening to you 2!!
They may have planned to do another performance together, but, sadly, Janis died of a drug overdose a few months after this episode of Tom's TV show aired in December 1969.
She died in October 1970.
@@zoran1896Thanks, Zoran. RIP, Janis.
In Wales, there is the tradition of Y Cythraul Canu.
FYI: The Leonard Cohen song "Chelsea Hotel" is supposedly about a sexual interlude he once had with Janis Joplin. ("Giving me head in the unmade bed while the limousine waits in the street.")
Wonderful, perceptive lyrics throughout about the loneliness (and often to short lives) of those with the gift of music. Highly recommend it.
Women used to throw their panties and room keys at him. 🇨🇦🖖🏻
TOM JONES TOOK MY MOMMY FROM ME,,,AND JANIS TOOK ME
We had a lot of talent back then and I am glad you are finding some of it.
Bless You Both 😂 RESPECT 🙏
Church points.
I LOVE YOU JANIS !
If the screen for the performance by Tom and Janis was any smaller it would be a postage stamp!
Drug addict and died young
Actually she had been clean but had a major emotional relapse after being laughed out of her High school reunion. The dealer was selling an ultra potent type of heroin she didn’t know about. It killed him too.
Watch Tom and Wilson Pickett
