I recently saw 2 reactors describe Tom as trying to keep up with Janis. He is not trying to keep up with her. He is allowing her to shine. Even though it's his show and he is the star, he always allows his guests room to shine. The more you watch his duets, the more you realize how much he delights in other people's talent.
PAT I WAS YOUNG TEENAGER HERE AND WE LOVE ALL TOGETHERNESS BACK THEN. I GREW UP IN NEW ENGLAND.. WE HAD GREAT TIMES WITH ALL MUSIC. WOULDN'T CHANGE A THING. TAKE CARE FRIENDS ❤
I would suggest Sir Tom Jones and Dusty Springfield, and also have a look through the catalogue of his friend Dame Shirley Bassey they've been friends since the 60's both have a huge variety of music and sold at least 400million records between them and had their own TV shows
Patrick, you should check out all the duets that Tom did on his show. Wilson Picket, Cher, Stevie Wonder, and so many more! Also, you need to see more of his solos -- Delilah (from the Ed Sullivan Show), Green Green Grass of Home, etc. And you should see more of Tom's solos on his own show -- I Who Have Nothing (you will LOVE 😍 this one) and so many more. Find one where he dances; you will not believe your eyes! Trust me! 😂
Although I have rocked Janis daily for fifty years, this is my favorite live performance! The energy she and Tom throw at each other on that stage is absolutely amazing! Poor ol Tom looking like he got caught in a high-powered piece of machinery!
Thanks Patrick! One of my favorite songs from this time. Tom and Janis is outstanding! Suggestion another amazing song "Tom Jones & Luciano Pavarotti - Delilah" (Live).
I never cared for Tom Jones until this song. Most of his stuff, in my humble opinion, was Uber-cheese. But he and Janis played off each other in the most amazing fasion. I mean, back the, you shouldn't have that much soul if you're that white. But daaaaang. This is soul!!! Cannot deny it. She took us to church and kept us there the whole time. What I loved about Janis is that she sang with her whole being. Her body and soul became the song. It's amazing to watch her perform. There as no pretense with her. This song is one of my favorite duets of all time, now. All of that being said... I can't unsee Tom Jones dancing. That should never have happened on tv. It reminds me of Martin Short's character on SNL back in the 80's Ed Grimley. Look it up on RUclips and watch him dance around. You'll understand then. Peace out. Timo Casas in SoCal
This is totally awesome
