You are so right, Shannon. He was killing it right out of the box, starting with Delilah. I'm 68 now (August 2024). My peers back then thought I was crazy to like Tom Jones. I merely recognized great music when I heard it, and I'm a guy - there was no Tom Jones infatuation element in it for me. I hope they look at this clip today and sheepishly realize I (and you) was right.

I distinctly remember watching this special back in the day. Mind you, I was just 5 or 6 when it aired. But even then, I was awed by this man's voice, style, and the class he presented himself with. I also remember I had one of his singles, "Daughter Of Darkness".
RIP TJ. You had more talent in just one pinky than most singers had in their whole bodies! Not to mention industrial strength lungs that can bellow out like an air raid siren!

Unlike Elvis, Alice Cooper, Abba, Tom did not give his backup bands the spotlight much, Great performer, but not the nicest guy in my opinion. If u played for E, u got a solo+almost equal booking, on the billboard+up front the stage with him, Would not have noticed big Jim if u did not mention it.
