  • Beginning with wrongly-formatted Excel data, we clean and structure the data, import to JASP, do an Independent Samples t Test, and interpret the results. These techniques illustrate all the potential challenges you might encounter as you work on data for the weekly quiz and the unit test.

Happy New Year, Dr. Daniels. Could you help me with the setup of my hypothesis?
I purchased a hybrid vehicle in October 2021. I want to know if my utility bill is more significant, by comparing Oct-Mar 2020-2021, and 2021-2022, With Significant levels of 0.05 and 0.01? Also, if it’s not statistically significant at 0.05, yet it is statistically significant at 0.01, what would that mean?
Is an independent Samples t Test suffice (in JASP)?
    Stay Safe.
    Kind Regards.

Hello...that will be difficult to answer because you have an n of 1. If you had 30 people who all contributed data over the time frame, or if you had 12 months of bills for a yearly average, then you could do a test of some sort. With data from a single individual, you could calculate the mean and standard deviation of your yearly bills, then moving forward, any bill that exceed 1.96 SD from your previous year could be considered significantly higher. Not much you can do with a single individual, however. Best of luck

Hello Dr Daniel, I also need your Effect Size Calculator. Where and how may I get it?
Also, I need your assistance with independent test of validity for testing work.
My supervisor has requested/insisted that I use it.
    Thank you Sir!

No problem...look in the video description. You will see a link to a Google Drive. In that folder, you will find the Effect Size Calculator Right-click to download. Good luck

That .xls was something I used for the stats course. Let me make a note to look for it and drop it in the google drive folder. If you email me at the YT channel, I will send you a copy directly.
