@@michaelgoyettemusic I am not the computer guy but, thanks for the reply champ love the channel! Here are some things I feel many may catch or miss.
I could write a book on just about every Ren song... These are a few things I like to mention sometimes.
Jenny's Tale you have to ask yourself what was a 14 year old girl wearing heels and "rosy cheeks" doing at night on a road "she walked a 1000 times before".

At the start of Screech's Tale, Ren starts the song by saying, "A story it starts at the end". Patrick was "missing" and Screech's GF was "Busy" because they were together. Then at the end as Ren does so often he brings it full circle and says, "A story it ends at the start" .
Violate Tale - I LOVE the guitar rifts throughout the ENTIRE song. Ren so often does, he plays the part of Violate here on the bed after the rifts...
(Violate waking up looking around confused as to how she got here and where is here?) With haunting/eerie hymns he sets the stage.
Many catch the rewind . MANY more miss the speeding back up to real time when Ren/Violate wakes up on the table (After the fight between her and Stevie as he starts walking away).
      Lastly,
Violet moved out at 16 into a flat paid by a "welfare scheme". It is logical to think that violet was already pregnant by this time. A teenage runaway might have a chance at being a beneficiary of this but a pregnant teenage runaway certainly has the qualifications to be granted this benefit. This was before she met Stevie who most would assume was the father of Jenny and Screech. If what was speculated was true, Stevie did some maths and figured that the numbers didn't add up, the baby wasn't his. He beats up Violet and calls her a "slut" which was quite specific when compared to usual cuss words like "bitch" or "cunt". This would also answer as to why Stevie asked "Why're you lying to me, violet?" And would make the slightly off phrase "Do you think I wanna do this, Violet" fit more consistently into the story.

Yo! I'm so glad Jorja was game to give doing a video with you a try, in front of 23,000 subscribers, lol!
(I know only however many tune in for any given reaction, but still! Potential audience of 23,000 is nothing to sneeze at for someone new)
She did great, I'm sure she'll pick up the theory stuff without too much trouble over the coming months if her goal is to be ready for an audition for entrance to the music program at university. It's nothing to sneeze at, but wanting to do music at university should be enough motivation for someone to sit down and get the learning done.
GL with the RUclips channel, Sunnyside! (that was the name of the school you teach at, right?)
It's gonna be amazing to watch young people become musicians and songwriters and storytellers after watching Ren, as more and more start emerging who've found his stuff as a young person. Whether Jorja ends up falling down the rabbit hole the same way all of us here have, or whether this ends up being her only exposure to Ren... this viewing of the trilogy will leave a mark on the way she views storytelling and performance.
Great idea Mike, and ty again for being willing to do the video thing, Jorja. ♥

I agree with what she said. His use of negative space is - unmatched, really.
Silence can be far more impactful. Most music seems obsessed with filling in any spaces.
Ren is not only stripped down in much of his material, often just him and a guitar, sometimes only 1 or the other, and further to that, intentionally neither. And it flat out works better, IMHO.

Ren understands the mind of abusers and what they say. My father used to beat the crap out of my mother, my sister and me. I'd be a 7 yr old with a bloody nose and he'd ask "why do you MAKE me do this?" or "Do you think I want to do this?" That it was, somehow, our fault that he was beating us!
This is so well done and well presented by you. To the young lady I would say, don't worry about controlling your emotions with something like this. It just means you're human and have empathy. Ren does an amazing job of connecting with the audience and transmitting that sadness and tragedy.

It’s terrible he put you through that……I think you already but I’ll say it just in case…..it wasn’t your fault. Thanks for sharing. It adds a layer of context to the art to hear a real story that parallels this one❤️
REN’s ability to connect with the characters in his songs is next level…..one of the things that separates him from others. Cheers. ✌️

Yo! What a lucky girl Georgia is. I'd love a few lessons from you Mike. 😁 Will look out for the music school channel when it's launched too. If the rest of the students are as natural and comfortable in front of the camera as she is it should be really good. The great intro's, the winding back and fore in time and the musical silences and time signature changes really create the sense of drama, progression and suspense. It reminds me of an old Hitchcock type movie. Where I think maybe something like Money Game Part 3 would be more of a Guy Ritchie vibe. I guess he would have had a lot of time to read and watch movies. The more I hear of Ren's music and the longer it ruminates, the more I see.
One thing I see in young and new(-ish) guitar players (Especially teenage boys) is the want to play at 100mph all the time, fill every silence and show off their skills. It makes much more of an impact if you use the instrument to tell the story of the song. I try and think of it as a voice or several voices and aspire to convey the emotions of those voices through my playing. Easier said than done though right?

Great observations….I can’t say I never aimed to fill measures up with as many notes as possible… I tuck my pick away under my fingers lately cause I like the skin tone plus it slows me down. I haven’t seen the daily chords in a bit…. Are you still doing them?

@@michaelgoyettemusic I guess we have a lot of teenage boys that listen to thrash metal around these parts. haha. I don't use a pick much these days either. I find I can be much more expressive with my fingers. Daily Chords still on the go. I think YT is probably trying the shorts feed in different regions again. Looks that way from where the views are coming from in the stats anyway. Still putting a full vid out every week too. Manging to stick to it OK and the channels slowly growing, so it's all good. 😀

Made it to the end! Please tell me I heard incorrectly that the 90's are classic rock! 😂😂 God, I'm old! She is a delight and I hope to see her reacting to more Ren. ❤️

I like when reactors are introducing songs to people. They can point out things as it happens. Is she familiar with The Warning yet? They would be perfect inspiration for her.

one thing ive never seen a reactor say on any his stuff is the fact that no verse or chorus if there is one is repeated like 90% of rock pop songs,, just remembering the lyrics is amazing

Great to see you sharing Ren with your students. I just hope you gave her warning of the sensitive content. Make sure to check for your students’ triggers before putting them in a potentially traumatic situation. Other than that, great job! :)
