If your not affected by that story, your not much of a human being . The interesting thing is some of the most important facts he never tells you ,he allows the facts reveal themselves after the initial shock wears off , like Jenny is only 14 as well as Screetch and its not until Violets tale do you understand her quietness . It is a tale of generational trauma that has sparked thousands of conversations about D.V. and S.A. and fuled the healing of many . It also disseminates the understanding that the way you treat your wife will also affect your children and their children .
Agreed. So much let unsaid and I think that makes it more powerful. I remember when I first heard this it immediately took me down a path of imagining how those kids grew up. Mother is dead. Father is in prison. I'm not sure how it works in the UK but I'm sure it's similar to the US. The kids were probably put in foster homes and passed around from house to house with no stability. They were possibly abused themselves. By the time they were 14, or probably even younger, they would have been looking for a way to get out. I didn't realize it the first time, but after a few times rewatching it, it hit me. Why is Jenny wearing high-heeled shoes in the middle of the night? She's a prostitute. She probably felt like it was the quickest way for her to get out of her bad situation. Obviously, Screech had his own way of dealing with things. A tragedy, or a miracle? Jenny died hoping that her children could find a better way forward than she was able to. If she had known how it turned out, would she still have begged them to let her babies stay alive? She knew the odds would be stacked against them, but she held out hope that their lives could be better than hers was. Hope is a powerful thing! With both of her children dying, the circle is closed for this family. No more generational trauma. No more silence and violence. If Jenny and/or Screech would have had kids, the circle probably continues. Things like this happen everyday, even if not on the level of murder. One thing I'd like to see is Ren continue this story with Richard's Tale. How did Richard cope with taking the life of a 14 year old boy? Who in his life felt the aftershock of these unfortunate events? This is real life stuff. Ren is amazing.
@@scottiestone2148 yes ,Ren has written for us, a lesson in empathy because we have to finish the story. As a victim of D.V. when I first heard the tales ,I was annoyed by Rens tale of Jenny because there was so little detail of Jenny the victim. After listening again I realised her story could only be told by her mother and her brother because Jenny did not feel capable of speaking up for herself . As you grow your imagination and empathy her story shows itself to you, silently, the only way she could tell it. That's why these tales are a masterpiece.

Ren wrote this song because it's the kind of subject matter that is usually kept quite or swept under the carpet.... and that actually allows it to continue - it's easier to ignore things that aren't talked about. Good reaction!
Jenny's tale is also based on a true story he read... a 14-year-old boy really did stab a lady to death in an alley. A policeman was reported as commenting it's "such a shame" and that was Ren's inspiration.

A Three Act Shakespearian Tragedy. Now you see Ren's roots. His parents used to take him to many of the small music and theatre weekend festivals common in Britain. Where he was exposed to theatre, dramatic to comedies, music, circus performers, Bards and Wondering Minstrels. I still go to them not just Glastonbury but every village in London. In London in the summer there is one every weekend. Many are free.
Fun fact: Jenny's Tale was based on an article he read in the news about a street walker who was killed. The police were quoted as saying "what a shame", hence that line. But Screech and Violet's Tale were all Ren's doing! And were actually done later, in separate videos. He's such a master at his craft ❤
It was a few months later after Jennys tale that Screeches tale came but it was nearly 2 years later before Violets tale was released tying it all together. Masterpiece. After the final twist you are left with another shock as you realise that Jenny was 14 in highheels walking the streets and all that implies.
A genuinely lovely reaction. Just to show you that Ren can make you smile as well as break your heart, I recommend reacting to one of his fun songs like “Bongo Bong” with The big Push (if that doesn’t put a smile on your face, nothing will!😀)

Amazing and heartfelt reaction. 🌹🌹 The magic of Ren. Putting up a mirror, forcing us to listen to a topic that is so excruciating to hear, to deeply feel it… To hopefully talk about it, and, God willing, prevent it. Taking topics that are normally swept under the rug, bringing them to the forefront and making people confront it. I have seen so many very real and very important conversations get started after listening to this. The magic of Ren. He changes people. Subbed. ☮️♥️
Ren was asked what genre he should be in and he called it "Bardcore". A cross between a medieval minstrel and a modern rapper. I think that's the perfect word for it.
You guys have such a beautiful friendship. I love how funny, kind, and wholesome you both are. Y'all are like the only reaction channel that ever makes me laugh out loud during the videos, like when Jenny's tale was done and the one on the right (sorry I suck with names) was just like "huh", that little interaction was so funny to me 😭❣
Thank you so much for your kind words! We really appreciate it! We try to always be our true authentic selves! Thank you so much for being here and supporting us! It means a lot! 😊😊-Dallas (the one on the left 😉)
stunned silence at the end when the penny drops, exactly my reaction, stunned, i must've seen this trilogy 20 times or more, and it still gets me tearing up every time the talent Ren has not only on the guitar and singing voice, he paints a very vivid picture, draws you in , sweeps you along with him, then emotionally wrecks you, i been moved by music many times, but not to this degree, being moved is one thing, but being an emotional wreck is quite another. a true work of art.,
Great reaction Ladies. I think REN’s performance was Epic in this trilogy. How he paints the characters in our minds is mesmerizing. We feel our “feels” every time. If you want a happier Ren, please react to The Big Push band, “I Shot The sheriff/Road To Zion/Hip Hop” covers. In this video, Ren is wearing Red Suspenders.
I do believe that you guys would love this song and I love to see a reaction video from you guys❤️🙏 its a song called...immortality by the bee gees featuring Celine dion 👍
Nice job, ladies. This is one of my favorite reactions to these songs, and I've seen at least 100 reactions. Keep doing Ren, and I'll subscribe. I see you did "The Hunger" which I'll watch next. One of my favorites of his. You also need to do his stuff with his band "The Big Push".You will be blown away. And if you want to be different than most other reaction channels, you should check out his even earlier stuff of his band "Trick the Fox". I am OBSESSED with Ren and reactions to Ren. I'm definitely a SUPER Renegade.
12:54 I love that expelling of breath he does before embodying an awful abuser. Like he has to prepare himself. It has to be exhausting for someone as good and caring as Ren to inhabit characters like Stevie.
Well done ladies, this masterpiece is tough on the heart 🙏😔 My first reaction (40 or so back now 🤦♀️😜) was identical. Much love & subbed from down under ❤
Do you know how many times I cried over people’s reactions to this, for 2 1/2 years daily, some hit me some don’t, and it happened on this one . Great reaction ladies
In answer to why we are talking about it. Well first - that's what Ren does, he creates a space where people can talk about the topics that as society, we like to push into the corner, and pretend it's not happening. Second - now that you know who Jenny and Screech are, and you already knew Screech was 14 (which by the way is why Violet's story is set in 2005) - then you also now know that Jenny is also 14. Which makes you question a 14 year old girl, walking the streets like she has "a thousand times before", wishing she could escape, wearing high heeled shoes, apparently looking much older to the point where Screech refers to her as a lady, not as a girl - when he is trying to get Patrick to open the door. Jenny... was sadly, very likely a girl of the streets. This is a story of intergenerational abuse. In the same way that Violet picked a partner that treated her the same way as her Dad did, there is a very good chance that Violet's mother (a drinker) - probably did the same thing. Although you need to be a resident of the UK to know this next bit - it's important that you do - Violet moved at 16 and got a council flat on a welfare scheme, that doesn't happen here because of a major housing shortage - in order for a 16 year old to get a council flat - she was already pregnant when she left home, which means before she met Stevie. So there is an extremely good chance that Jenny and Screech's father is in fact not Stevie, but Violet's dad. This would of course also shed a bit of light on why Stevie was calling Violet a "little liar". Thanks for the reaction.
Jenny wearing high heel shoes ”walking the street like a thousant nights before” at 14 says a lot. - and staying passive and silence when approached just lik her mom. While Screech is angry and violent just like his dad, even though they were separated at birth going into forster care. Mind blowing! Ren is the king.
The first time I saw this i felt like i was an eye witnessed several crimes 😢 loved your reaction thanks 😊 subbed to continue on this journey with you ❤ from Australia 😊
I've just come across your channel while looking for reactions to Ren, and you now have a new subscriber in me... 😊 Also, just so you know, Ren loves the reaction community so you dont have to pause with his videos just to appease the RUclips copyright laws, and if you do get a video blocked, just appeal it and itll be sorted out... Enjoy the rabbit hole!
Omg! I've seen sooo many reactions to this trilogy, but you're the first to make me cry on the first one! I'm an empath, so seeing your face start to crumble had me blubbering, damnit! ❤ loved your reaction
Fair warning... Ren has made me cry more than any other artist and I'm 57 and have heard it all. He just finds a way into the feels. He's also made me snort laugh so it evens out.
His storytelling is A+ level genius. Talking about the abusiveness that most people don't think goes on but violence is an infection that goes through generations...generational sin. This song/story takes a lot of unpacking to fully understand so no worries at all on how you reacted. The rawness of it is exactly how we all felt the first time. Oh my heavenly Lord is about right. lol Love it!!
Thank you for watching and supporting us! We appreciate you being here! Ren is INCREDIBLE and we have loved every single song we have heard. His songs are so emotional and that’s part of why we love him! 😊😊-Dallas

I ❤ your reaction girls. Fabulous! Thank you for this video. No matter how many times I hear Ren, he always has me in tears. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say IMHO I think Ren is the most important person to happen to music in a long time.
Gotta say, ladies... I usually hate watching women reactors, despite being a woman myself, but I love y'all! Great reaction. Reminds me of my first time watching The Tales 🥺
It's like watching a Shakespeare play, but Ren plays all the parts! Ren singing is beautiful. I suggest Chalk Outlines Ren x Chinchilla live video. 💛💛💛
great reactions to this trilogy. i love how ren was able to tie in the whole story with the very last line "a girl named jenny and a boy named screech.

He is like a Bard from the Olden Days, like you see on the Show "The Witcher". Amazing. And he draws you into the story/Tale as you go. Great Post, Ladies.
A new subscriber here, joining to be with you on your Ren journey, if you're impressed with his talent so far you've just scratched the surface. His work with his band The Big Push, and duets with Chinchilla, Bibi and Sam Tomkins will just blow your mind, he goes unique covers and clever, insightful original songs covering so many styles and instruments, he plays Acoustic and Electric Guitars, Bass, Piano and even the drums (a little bit), songs like Chalk Outlines, How To Be Me, Suicide, Mackay, Watch Out, I Shot the Sherif/Road to Zion/Hip Hop, Bongo Bong, Wade in The Water, Back on 74 and so many more
Gut wrenching and visceral but an important topic that happens every day. Thanks. ❤💜💙. Another series that is not as heavy but iconic is his Money Game 1, 2 (lyric video only) and 3. Separate songs, not a trilogy. MG3 has won some awards already.
Great reaction ladies, very emotional. Found all stories tough, but especially Violet's. Unfortunately people live these lives, generational abuse and trauma..... You need some happy fun Ren, love music parts III and IV or Univited..... enjoy
Ren said during the phone parts of Screech's tale somebody yelled out a window "Shut the fuck up!" so they had to redo the whole thing being 1 take and all Ren calls this style of just him and a guitar "bardcore"
He also said there was a previous take where at the end of Violet's tale just as he walked round the corner it started to rain, a very fine misty rain which Ren said looked amazing, unfortunately someone shouted out a window and they couldn't use it. Not sure how many takes this one took but I know" money game "took over 140.
Great reaction :) Ren is indeed a genius, a fantastic performer, singer, actor, songwriter, composer, etc, etc he can do it all... and all the small tidbits that you might have missed by seeing this for the first time: - the way he uses his words and sets the scene for example when he could've simply say that Screeched stabbed Jenny he did it in a much more poetic way, just the same when jenny froze he say it in a fantastic manner that sets a scene in your head... The way he used the Guitar to knock on the door in Screech's tale, the frantic video going around him while he stood still to show the state of mind Screech was in, how he used the phone in the middle of the song with pauses and all to wait for the call to connect... how he said the police were coming instead of just saying "the police are coming" is truly amazing, and how he said that Screech was going against the police without saying just the obvious words... how he alternates between characters and narrator... how he uses the guitar to fire the shots and the cameraman getting shot and falling to the floor... an amazing storyteller. - The way he tells that history repeats itself on Violet's tale, from being abused by her father to the cycle repeating with her boyfriend that ends up killing her... the way he knocks on the door and then shows how he picks her eyelids and opens them and he's right there face first on the camera, out of focus... how he again uses the guitar to simbolize the sounds of violence when Stevie hits Violet, like a crashing pilot! - The way he rewinds time at the start of Violet's Tale when he says "We must rewind time for Violet's Tale" and then he makes the rewind time sound with the guitar and then starts Violet's story... then after Violet gets beaten up he uses the guitar again, this time to un-rewind time and gets us back to the start of the song when you heard the sounds of the hospital machines, now we know why those sounds were there and how everything happened... it's pure genius!!! - Also, it's inevitable to draw parallels between Jenny and Violet and Screech and Stevie (his father) and the grandfather... despite not knowing any of their relatives, Jenny was just like her mother, Violet was silent, didn't fight back when she was abused and ended up being killed... Jenny when confronted by Screech completely froze, like a statue, wasn't able to move, to say anything, to defend herself, just like her mother... Screech was violent and troubled and ended up a murderer just like is father was... All very tragic!! - To tie it all up, the Tales from Jenny and Screech were recorded in 2019 and Violet's tale is, because of that set in 2005 (two zero zero five), 14 years before because in Jenny's tale we are told that Screech was 14 years old! Cheers
Thank you for reacting to this, like really reacting to it. It's intense, and this story of generational abuse happens all the time. It's so important that it's acknowledged rather than avoided or pushed to the back of our minds because it's so unpleasant. So thank you for sharing.
2005 was the year Violet was killed. Jenny was a prostitute, hence the walking the streets 1000 times and the line about being a statue frozen in high heeled shoes. What really blew me away though was Violet's go to move when threatened was to pretend to sleep. She froze. Just like Jenny. Also, Stevie beat Violet to death. Screech, like his father, also attacked and killed a female....his own sister who he never met because they were probably split up and put in the system. It begs the question about genetics vs nurture. They were not raised by their parents yet they followed the same fate reguardless. Ren is so brilliant! I felt so bad watching your reactions as he really broke your hearts but what an amazing storyteller!
Great reaction - you have a new subscriber. Having looked through your previous videos it's clear that you like unique and powerful voices. I have a suggestion for you.....try out Nightwish. Specifically their live version of the song Ghost Love Score from the Wacken festival in 2013. It's easy to find as it is the number one reacted to song on RUclips. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Screech kills his own sister, not knowing she was his sister. And let's not forget that Jenny was walking back to her home like she did plenty of times, in high heel shoes, which gives an idea of what her life was. Both were 14. This song can easily be described as "the circle of violence". As for more songs, you have tons. "How to be Me" and "Chalk Outlines" both with Chinchilla (terrific singer as well), you have "Humble" and "Ocean" both with Eden Nash (another amazing singer). Then you have "Dominoes" and "Suicide", both will destroy you. "Money Game", a 3-part song. There is songs with this band "The Big Push". You are in for an amazing ride.
If your not affected by that story, your not much of a human being .
😊😊-Dallas (the one on the left 😉)
stunned silence at the end when the penny drops, exactly my reaction, stunned, i must've seen this trilogy 20 times or more, and it still gets me tearing up every time
the talent Ren has not only on the guitar and singing voice, he paints a very vivid picture, draws you in , sweeps you along with him, then emotionally wrecks you,
i been moved by music many times, but not to this degree, being moved is one thing, but being an emotional wreck is quite another. a true work of art.,
If you want to see a different side of him check out back on 74/Message in a bottle and Fred again mash up. Totally different but you'll love it.
Ren is a true genius and to make it better each of these videos are being played and sung live and done in one take
I do believe that you guys would love this song and I love to see a reaction video from you guys❤️🙏 its a song called...immortality by the bee gees featuring Celine dion 👍
Thanks! Love your reactions!
Thank you 😊
You;re a great duo and loved your reactions! Ty for sharing 😊😊
12:54 I love that expelling of breath he does before embodying an awful abuser. Like he has to prepare himself. It has to be exhausting for someone as good and caring as Ren to inhabit characters like Stevie.
Well done ladies, this masterpiece is tough on the heart 🙏😔
My first reaction (40 or so back now 🤦♀️😜) was identical. Much love & subbed from down under ❤
I cried too😊❤
Do you know how many times I cried over people’s reactions to this, for 2 1/2 years daily, some hit me some don’t, and it happened on this one . Great reaction ladies
Great reaction 👍
Liked & subscribed in anticipation of you reacting to more Ren
Cheers 🍻😀
Great Reaction ladies, subed for much more Ren!
Thanks for the reaction.
...which might shed a bit o' light on Richard.
Nice reaction . Thanks
Great reaction to this tough one ladies.
Excellent and very genuine reaction.
The first time I saw this i felt like i was an eye witnessed several crimes 😢 loved your reaction thanks 😊 subbed to continue on this journey with you ❤ from Australia 😊
Ren got the idea for Jenny tale from news paper he read about a 14 year old boy that kill a young streetwalker with Knife
Gj. You girls rock. More Ren please.
I've just come across your channel while looking for reactions to Ren, and you now have a new subscriber in me... 😊
Also, just so you know, Ren loves the reaction community so you dont have to pause with his videos just to appease the RUclips copyright laws, and if you do get a video blocked, just appeal it and itll be sorted out...
Enjoy the rabbit hole!
Omg! I've seen sooo many reactions to this trilogy, but you're the first to make me cry on the first one! I'm an empath, so seeing your face start to crumble had me blubbering, damnit! ❤ loved your reaction
Subbing to watch your Ren journey!! 👍🏻❤️
Love your reactions
Thank you so much!!
I’m sorry, but the looks on your faces is priceless. Lol
Holy moly is the proper response to this amazing story. 😊
We ALL cry. 🥺💜
I love your reactions....God Bless you both.,

Loved your reaction to the amazing Ren. You were as emotional & entranced as I felt
Thank you for watching and supporting us! We appreciate you being here! Ren is INCREDIBLE and we have loved every single song we have heard. His songs are so emotional and that’s part of why we love him! 😊😊-Dallas
I love how you both done the exact same head tilt at the beginning of Jenny’s Tale 😂
Great reaction guys, I love watching reactors, because it’s as though I am experiencing it all for the first time again, vicariously through you guys ❤
Haha! We did didn’t we. I didn’t even realize we did that!
Thank you so much for watching! We appreciate you and your kind words! 😊💜-Dallas
I’m glad I found your channel, great reaction!
Your stunned silence spoke volumes. Great reaction you two!!
Dammit, had to sub. More Ren!
Jenny had traits of her mom and Screech had traits of his dad
I ❤ your reaction girls. Fabulous!
Thank you for this video.
No matter how many times I hear Ren, he always has me in tears.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say IMHO I think Ren is the most important person to happen to music in a long time.
Gotta say, ladies... I usually hate watching women reactors, despite being a woman myself, but I love y'all! Great reaction. Reminds me of my first time watching The Tales 🥺
Aww well that really means a lot 🥹
Thank you so much for commenting. Video was definitely hard to watch.! ( Andrea )
You two are adorable and sweet together. Keep having fun!
Love ya ladies..had to sub and thanks for the great reaction! He’s a special guy honestly, in my opinion a prodigy. So much talent..thank you again❤
Awe thank you so much! He is just so amazing! Thanks for watching! 🥰 -Andrea
@@dna2001 absolutely 💯 I’m Jevon but sounds like Kevin lol. I get asked a lot, anyway take care and watching music with you guys seems like I’m just chillin with friends. Keep it going! Much ❤️
Love that, thanks Jevon!!! 😊
Subscribed for more ren and one of the bands he was in called the big push. I strongly recommend ren: spontaneous stream jam. Its another long one like this but so so worth it. I think you guys will love it ❤❤❤
He is like a Bard from the Olden Days, like you see on the Show "The Witcher". Amazing. And he draws you into the story/Tale as you go. Great Post, Ladies.
Saved by the bell reference got a sub from me, none of the other reactions mentioned that yet, LOL, good job
Love you gals! ❤
I am a 49yr old gay woman who has a man crush on Ren!?! 😂
Love it!
Ren is a singular artist in that he uses all of his human senses to describe a thing. His guitar is the second narrator. He's just magical.
Great reaction ladies, very emotional. Found all stories tough, but especially Violet's. Unfortunately people live these lives, generational abuse and trauma.....
You need some happy fun Ren, love music parts III and IV or Univited..... enjoy
I'm a little late but I loved this reaction 😂❤️ y'all are so relatable! I subscribed for sure
Thank you so much Bridget!! -Dallas
Ren said during the phone parts of Screech's tale somebody yelled out a window "Shut the fuck up!" so they had to redo the whole thing being 1 take and all
Ren calls this style of just him and a guitar "bardcore"
Haha that’s great 🤣
He also said there was a previous take where at the end of Violet's tale just as he walked round the corner it started to rain, a very fine misty rain which Ren said looked amazing, unfortunately someone shouted out a window and they couldn't use it. Not sure how many takes this one took but I know" money game "took over 140.
@@panchomcsporran2083 thats too bad, that would have been visually amazing for the song
Bottom End - used to live there myself.
@@panchomcsporran2083 Wish he would release some of these takes anyway.
Your faces say it all. Great reactions! Thx❤
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Great reaction :)
Ren is indeed a genius, a fantastic performer, singer, actor, songwriter, composer, etc, etc he can do it all... and all the small tidbits that you might have missed by seeing this for the first time:
- the way he uses his words and sets the scene for example when he could've simply say that Screeched stabbed Jenny he did it in a much more poetic way, just the same when jenny froze he say it in a fantastic manner that sets a scene in your head...
Cheers
Great reaction ❤
Thank you for reacting to this, like really reacting to it. It's intense, and this story of generational abuse happens all the time. It's so important that it's acknowledged rather than avoided or pushed to the back of our minds because it's so unpleasant. So thank you for sharing.
I think you need to see some fun ren. Bongo bong.with his group the big push is a great one
Genius way of presenting the reality of generational violence and the repercussions of it in the lives of those involved!
I would love to watch you happy cry with a Jimmy Carr reaction ❤
Happy yet horrified 😂😂😂
Great reaction. Keep up the good work.
New subscriber here! I love you girls ! I am a huge Ren fan too ! 😊
Thank you for the support!!! Yes Ren is great!
The “huh” at the end of Jenny’s tale took me out lol 😂
Wonderful, emotional reaction. Thank you, both.
He really makes us feel the trauma in the life of these characters he has created
Life can be tragic and it is a shame😢
Yep. That was my first reaction to this. It leaves you emotionally exhausted and yet impressed at the sheer storytelling skill. ❤🤪
If you haven't tried Ren's Uninvited yet, that will have you crying with laughter. Good fun.
Honestly one of the most hearl-felt reactions to the Tales. Ren blew your mind. Now yoiu need to react to Ren's awesome song 'Suicide'!
Aww thank you, yeah this one really got to us! He’s so good 😊🤯
