@@angelokings great question, we have done these things many different ways and honestly found that by replacing the deck first seemed to be a huge gain and great value for the money, speakers next then amp last just make sure to plan your speakers for the amp. Most good aftermarket radios can actually push a lot more than the factory units. Hope that helps

Back over twenty years ago i had some kicker 6x9's on my honda rear trunk deck and they hit hard. I had a Rockford fosgate amp pushing them and they handled the wattage pretty well. I did the install myself just like you. That little magnet on the stock speaker 🔊😂😂
Hell yea I can’t wait to install an amp to then to see there real potential lol, ima probably just get a small kicker amp to push them I have Rockford in my civic so I wanna try kicker out 🤔 lol, lmfao right hahaha
Nice job on the video. You got the necessary information without wasting time. Also, Crutchfield might not always be the cheapest option, but they provide the needed wiring adapters, installation information, and other parts at no additional cost.
Great Video! upgraded front/rear speakers on my 2019 Tacoma and am very pleased with the results. (had done the Tweeters a few months back..) I also did the sound deadening through Noico as recommended in your other video. The whole project took me about 5 hours by myself. There was a huge learning curve for me with the first door (started with driver side front) I am not the most handy person, nor am adept with anything car related... after the first door was knocked out though the other 3 felt second nature. Felt very accomplished having done this opposed to paying $350+ having a shop do it. Thanks so much for the vids! Subscribed.

I bought these same speakers for my 2019 OR and Crutchfield now includes the brackets and wire adapters free as someone else has probably pointed out. Thanks again and keep up the great vids!

Great video. I am preparing to do speaker replacements in my 2014 Tacoma. I am planning to install Kenwood 6X9 5-way speakers in my doors. I am also planning on installing the Subaru tweeter speakers that are also in the doors. Do I need crossovers for these speakers? I guess I am realizing that I don't know what I am doing.
Great vid...I came across it because I have a squeaky chirp sound coming from I think the pass door on my 19 TRD OR...you wouldn't have any idea what inside my door could be making the chirp each time I hit bumps do you?

Great video as usual. But I have a question about what speakers to use. If you already have tweeters why would you replace the front speakers with 3 ways that include a tweeter? Shouldn't you use component speakers instead? I want to replace the tweeters with the Subaru tweeters like you did in the other video, but I'm just wondering what kind of sound you are getting with so many tweeters.

HELP!!! Ok so… I did a similar speaker swap (different speaker brand) & the speakers are 3-way 6x9’s with 2 tweeters attached to each one. But the problem is: no high frequencies seem to be coming out of the tweeters. Any tips on why??? So I took out my new speakers & put back my old OEM speakers back & they had way more high frequencies that my new speakers. What gives? 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
The factory stereo can only put out so much power after that to push aftermarket speakers you’ll need a amp even with the ones shown in the video those still need a amp to work correctly I hope that helps
Jesse great video bro. One question I’m having trouble getting the door handle through the slot while putting the panel back on. Is there a secret too it? Or just pull it through hard? I’m afraid of ripping the white and green wires going to it
Nice video, can you risk damaging the speakers if you just install the new speakers and not a better amp? or will it just get distorted at high volume?
No you just won’t get the full potential of them since the stereo itself doesn’t have enough power to push them fully, adding the amp will just put it to the power that they should be pushing if that makes sense

Jessie, i was looking at the same speakers from crutch. I also saw that you can put 6.5’s in the front door as well. Thats what i was thinking of doing. 6.5’s front and back. So my question is do have to have an amp to push them or do they sound good without the extra power?
The 6x9s will probably have a bit of a deeper tone & more power just as an fyi my friend but yea you are able to do that just getting a adapter bracket, and I don’t have an amp hooked up to mine and it’s made a difference but if you want a big difference yes I’d recommend getting a amp to push them, I’d also recommend getting the tweeters in these trucks that does make a noticeable difference

Hey my friend I would start with the tweeters honestly that I noticed the most as far as clarity 👌 then if you want to jump to next then do speakers but I’d start with the tweeters first I hope that helps :)
One more thing, I read something about some type of special wiring for tacoma tweeters and front speakers. Some sort of issue. It seemed you just plugged nd played.

Hey my friend I don’t just when I purchased the speakers they were thrown into my cart for free when I was checking out, I’ll try and find the part number
Never any dumb questions my friend that’s how we all learn, and yes you need the bracket there cheap though very inexpensive I think even Best Buy sells them if I’m not mistaken
One thing I usually do when I purchase a speaker is carefully open the box (in case u have to return it) and take only one speaker out and have the window on your vehicle all the way down then remove all the necessary panels to access the stock speaker remove the speaker and insert the new speaker as long as it’s not touching or hitting the glass when window is rolled out your fine that’s mainly how I check mine another way which I’ll be honest I’m not sure of is just checking the depth in the Tacoma speaker that can be applicable that part I don’t know lol to be honest
Checked the link and they say no longer available. 🤔. I checked the other one they had and it says doesn’t fit. Is crutchfield they only place where you get them? I already did the tweeter kicker swap but I got them on Amazon
The new version is out now I gues I just checked that’s probably y it doesn’t work, and u can purchase them anywhere the only reason I went with crutchfueld was because they had a blow out sale and it came with the harness adapters and the brackets lol i will try and find another link

Voltron 212 yes just did mine. I recommend Crutchfield theyll match it for you and even provide the harness and plug and play wiring. I saved money because they actually recommended a cheaper speaker. Dont need the high end one since in the Taco the mids and highs come out of the dash speakers and not the side door woofers
got a video on how to install tinted windows with the wrap ? Now that what I want for my car BUT idk how and id butcher it as I once tried help mate with tinting his headlights, it came out bubly and aweful LOL

Dana Elliott you can put 6.5’s or 6.75’s in the front as well. Crutch has the adapters for that install.

These are 4 ohm speakers and Crutchfield gives a warning about reduced sound. They recommend 2 ohms. Is it really that big of a difference?
If you plan on adding an amp to them you’ll be fine

Nice video, can you risk damaging the speakers if you just install the new speakers and not a better amp? or will it just get distorted at high volume?
No you just won’t get the full potential of them since the stereo itself doesn’t have enough power to push them fully, adding the amp will just put it to the power that they should be pushing if that makes sense

Jessie, i was looking at the same speakers from crutch. I also saw that you can put 6.5’s in the front door as well. Thats what i was thinking of doing. 6.5’s front and back. So my question is do have to have an amp to push them or do they sound good without the extra power?
The 6x9s will probably have a bit of a deeper tone & more power just as an fyi my friend but yea you are able to do that just getting a adapter bracket, and I don’t have an amp hooked up to mine and it’s made a difference but if you want a big difference yes I’d recommend getting a amp to push them, I’d also recommend getting the tweeters in these trucks that does make a noticeable difference

Hey my friend I would start with the tweeters honestly that I noticed the most as far as clarity 👌 then if you want to jump to next then do speakers but I’d start with the tweeters first I hope that helps :)

angelokings hey my friend yea as long as u get the kicker tweeters I purchased there plug and play they will say there for Subaru on them but there kicker and they fit our trucks 👍 on the tweeter install video I did I left a link there in description box

Never any dumb questions my friend that’s how we all learn, and yes you need the bracket there cheap though very inexpensive I think even Best Buy sells them if I’m not mistaken

How can I tell if a speaker will work for my 2018 Trd sport
One thing I usually do when I purchase a speaker is carefully open the box (in case u have to return it) and take only one speaker out and have the window on your vehicle all the way down then remove all the necessary panels to access the stock speaker remove the speaker and insert the new speaker as long as it’s not touching or hitting the glass when window is rolled out your fine that’s mainly how I check mine another way which I’ll be honest I’m not sure of is just checking the depth in the Tacoma speaker that can be applicable that part I don’t know lol to be honest

Checked the link and they say no longer available. 🤔. I checked the other one they had and it says doesn’t fit. Is crutchfield they only place where you get them? I already did the tweeter kicker swap but I got them on Amazon
The new version is out now I gues I just checked that’s probably y it doesn’t work, and u can purchase them anywhere the only reason I went with crutchfueld was because they had a blow out sale and it came with the harness adapters and the brackets lol i will try and find another link

Voltron 212 yes just did mine. I recommend Crutchfield theyll match it for you and even provide the harness and plug and play wiring. I saved money because they actually recommended a cheaper speaker. Dont need the high end one since in the Taco the mids and highs come out of the dash speakers and not the side door woofers

Lol hey well that’s less u have to spend ;) and to be honest I’m not sure when I was on crutchfield.com and had the speakers in the cart ready to checkout the adapters and brackets came in my shopping cart said they were free so I just placed the order :/ Is have to try and find them I’m sure typing 2018 Toyota Tacoma speaker harness adapter should do the trick 🤔
