Thank you for this video, i just bought the same speakers and I had a problem installing the tweeters, but this video cleared it up, thanks so much!!!!
Nice video. I have already done both front and rear speakers but love your attention to details and doing the little things like shortening the wires !
FYI, the adapters listed in the description are incompatible with 2024 Tacoma. I believe the speaker wire harness should be Metra 72-8109. I'm unsure which mounting plate is needed, but the holes do not line up using the Metra 82-8146 plate. However, you can use these plates by drilling your own holes on one of the ends.
I'm putting a midrange 3 inch speaker in place of the factory tweeter and adding a tweeter on the sail panel. Trying to find a good spot for the crossover, I'm thinking inside the door would be a good spot.
Great video! But I do have a question. I am about to do a complete sound upgrade on my 2023 Tacoma TRD Sport non-JBL. The positive and negative wire switch on the tweeter, that you mentioned, is it on all Tacomas? I have not seen anyone else say this on anyother RUclips video.
Nice video. I just have a question. Why don’t you add sound deadener and seal foam from speaker to bracket and bracket to door . Just curious if this is something you do off camera
That positive and negative switch you made on tweeter does that apply to door panel ? I have metra harness and my door speakers only play bass then vocals maybe because of that? But when I purchased through crutchfield that wasnt mentioned in instructions
There is little to no guidance online for this, but I managed to remove my front door panels yesterday. You can follow this video to get a general idea around the door handle and perimeter clips. Other than the screw behind the door handle, there are two more screws. One is under the panel for the window control module. The other is under the vanity plate on the side of the door panel that says "Tacoma" or "TRD", depending on your trim. Mine is a silver color and says "TRD". The trick is to gently pry from the side with the little indentation and and slide the panel away from where you're prying. The panel slides out to the side and can be easily removed to expose the last screw. From there, you can remove the door panel, door latch cables, and you're home free.
Also important to note, the adapters listed in the description are incompatible with 2024 Tacoma. I believe the speaker wire harness should be Metra 72-8109. I'm unsure which mounting plate is needed, but the holes do not line up using the Metra 82-8146 plate. However, you can use these plates by drilling your own holes on one of the ends.
Why would Toyota wire any speakers out of phase, especially on a component front stage. I don't know if you are saying Toyota got it wrong, or Metra. Either way, I don't know how either of them did.
I have a 21 Trd OR, non JBL speakers. Huge difference with new dash & front door speakers. But, replacing the rears are a waste of time & money. Toyota really limits power to the rear for some reason, barely any sound, just like the crap Oem speakers. 🙄
Parts used and recommended linked in the description of the video!

One Question WHENE do you have to upgrade the speakers Wire ??? Thank you very much !!!

Does the tweeter part apply to the 2021 Tacoma?

So the jumper wires on the tweeters lead to the front door speakers right?
How do I know what screws to use for the adapters?
How did you get the retainer clips on like that?
Do you have a video or recommendation on how to remove the 2024 Tacoma front door panel?

are the Gen5 4runners tweeters positive/negative backwards like the tacomas?
Exactly what I was wondering...you ever find out?

Yeah-I'm confused by that also. Otherwise, great information. There's always something missing with these videos.
Its a lot of factory tweeters are out of phase
They do that to help add an all-pass filter for their crossovers when they tune for better EQ out of the factory. It's annoying.
Remember to disconnect your battery kids.
Never lol

15 minutes video 20 thousand ads. And too complicated with the new speaker wires. Make it short and sweet next time, bro.
If this is too complicated, then you have no business messing with car audio. Pay some high school kid to do the install for you.
