Absolutely love my 2016 Civic. 6 speed manual. Never had any problems with it at 120,000 miles. Only had to replace brakes and a wheel bearing which is normal driving in NY with winters. I put new summer wheels on it and it looks very sharp Plan on driving it into the ground!
Never ever liked a Civic or any compact car for that matter. But I saw this one and then went to the lot to sit inside and check it out... I'm buying it!!!
so right! I'm a Maxima 6 cylinder kind of guy. Saw the car on Honda's website. Came test driving it and made the purchase the next day. Loving it. One problem though: where the hell is the partial tinted sun visor on the windshield? Don't most car has it nowadays?
You guys missed two things: 1 - The hood has two open positions, one normal and one higher for when you want to get to the back of the engine. 2 - Capless fuel filler - You just stick the nozzle in. Gotcha is that if you are using gas from a portable container you need to use the filler nozzle that can be found in the spare tire tool holder. Also the filler door locks when the car locks. You have to have the car unlocked to get in. You didn't cover Honda Sensing at all, but I assume that's because you are focusing more on the characteristics common to all trims.
Just bought one. My previous (and still owned but being renovated) vehicle is an Acura Integra Type R. So just about everything on the market is "soft". Well, the Civic is *NICE*. Lots of legroom and trunk space. The rear styling... nothing can be stated that will change the fact that it needs help. It has decent power - especially at fwy speeds. Fuel economy has been great (still breaking the engine in so lots of SHORT WOT applications to seat the rings in between very sedate fuel economy runs. It handles well, surprisingly and it's easily as quick as a Civic Si but I would not run it hard like that. It's a "grocery getter" and a 10 year proposition for me. Wish List 1.8L turbo, 200 bhp with whatever accompanying increase in torque; larger brakes, sport seats, Momo wheel - in short an even sportier grocery getter. Five Star Car.
Dear Roman. Nurburgring got every type of surface from good quality to poor, got potholes, shaky parts, aggressive kerbs, long straights, oval, steep, curvy corners where you can test everything like engine power, comfort, noise insulation, grip, brakes etc. (That was a loooong sentence)That is the point testing there Roman.
+TRL Z Thanks for the comment but does the Nurburgring have 1000 miles of dead straight highway? Roman asks because that's what we have in America. He adds that he's tired of Nurburgring derived cars that do not translate to American highways. It took the Germans forever to add cupholders to their cars...that's simply because only in America can you drive 1000 miles from Denver to Phoenix and make only two turns. For that sort of highway you need cupholders and comfortable sedans....not race cars brought to the road.
And that's what makes me sad about living in the USA. The roads are just so damn BORING to drive on. I get sleepy whenever I'm on a straight section of road for more than 5 miles.
hey guys, thank you for showcasing the interior- arm rest, etc! wow, i learned that there is a hump on the floor for the rear passengers- i did not know that until watching this video. thank you for details and input. now i'm really looking forward to getting the new civic!
Roman didn't say a single nice thing about this car. Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed... Super awesome redesign for the Civic. I was an 8th-gen purist, but I'm in line for a 2016 Touring!
Everything you need to know about Honda. Due to computer error the electronic brake on my 2016 Civic engaged while I was driving the car. The Honda service department technicians said they didn't do anything that addressed/corrected the problem. Honda customer service said the brake problem was fixed and refused to compensate me for my losses from trading the Civic for a 2017 Accord without the electronic parking brake. The only way to get rid of the problem was get rid of the Civic. I wonder if the same engineers designed the 737s
Excellent review. The previous model was too low to sit upright (anyone over 6' would have to recline the seat somewhat to avoid hitting the ceiling with your head). Same true for the Carolla. This model seems somewhat bigger but suspect it might still be short. PS would probably avoid the car because of the CVT.
I really like what I'm hearing about this car. I currently drive a 2014 Mazda 3. It's really fun to drive but the road noise is sometimes unbearable. If this new Civic is as refined as they're saying it is, including driving pretty sporty, then I might have to trade up for it.
You figure these other automakers would learn from Ford who tried to touch sensitive button thing a few years back but has since replaced them with actually physical buttons since then.
Honda Pro Jason: By putting notches on the steering wheel at 10 and 2, Honda is inviting drivers to put their hands there. From what I've read lately, this is no longer the preferred hand position. Hands should be at 9 and 3 or lower so that they are safely out of the way of the airbag when it deploys, to avoid an injury such as getting smacked in the face by one's own hand. I'm wondering if Honda thought of this, (maybe it's not true) especially in light of the whole Takata scandal. That issue aside, I'm pretty excited about this car and will probably buy it.
+cjk247 right now the Honda version is actually nicer in a lot of ways because of all the upgrades. The only thing where the ILX is still clearly better than the Civic would be the sound system because the ELS upgrade available in the ILX is a very nice sound system but otherwise there's little reason to buy an ILX over something like a Civic EXL or Touring especially since it's about $9K cheaper than the equivalent ILX.
cjk247 I understand but that would get you a low to mid range Acura ILX and you'd be sacrificing a ton of features and technology, as well as efficiency, simply for the badge that's on the hood.
Makes me want to consider parting with my '08 Civic for something New... The car looks very Flowing and exciting! I'm glad you punched it so I can get an idea IF it has power... My ONLY complaint about my EX-L is Power and I so wish it had that Si V-Tec motor but I hate shifting gears so............
24:10. Realest thing a reviewer has ever said about ALL car reviews! I hate they get highest level model. Average civic buyer is NOT buying the touring. We need reviews that try out the mid-teir & base model. That's a much more realistic to the people watching the video.
Been looking for a replacement for my 2003 VW Golf TDI and this is probably the one I am going to get if my finances hold up. My Golf has been the most reliable, long-term car I have owned with almost 200,000 miles on it still on the original clutch although I have replaced normal wear items along the way. I want another car I can be happy with for 10+ years, that is has decent power and fuel economy along with reliability. After considering an Accord I find the Civic to have all of the features I need and IMO better styling. I think Honda did a great job with this although I would prefer having a hatchback model option as I enjoy that style of vehicle more than a sedan.
That's not a Touring model, it's an EX-L. That red one in the video doesn't have the LED headlights, rain sensing wipers or the heated rear seats, which only come in the Touring. That particular Civic also didn't have the Honda Sensing package either. So no ACC, or LKAS, CMBS, LDW, FCW, or RDMS.
My mother in law paid about $24k for her 2009 EXL Accord. The new civic better be nice as its costs more than an accord (with double wishbone front suspension and a 2.4) a few years ago
Great Review as always. Quick Question. Does the Touring trim come with integrated side mirror turn signals? The model you all were driving seemed to be one of the EX trims because it did not have the led headlights.
So I am right around 6'5" and noticed you're 6'2" How well will I fit and will be a comfortable experience? I'm loving the reviews I've read and the technology packed in at this prices I'm seeing, but 'will I fit' is a question I have to ask when purchasing a car.
Can someone tell me what the point of a CVT is? People say it's for the gas mileage but my 08 Nissan Altima with a CVT gets no better gas mileage than the manual. Notice how luxury brands are going towards 8 and 9 speed automatics to improve gas mileage. Why is the CVT a thing? I don't hate them as much as I used to, but I still fail to see why car makers are putting them in.
A CVT is effectively an infinite-speed gearbox, even better than an 8 or 9 speed, so theoretically it can hold the engine at it's most efficient rpm... in theory better than any other kind of gearbox.
engine produces peak power at certain rpm... hence a car needs a gearbox to keep the engine in the powerband. in theory cvt can hold the engine not just in a band, but exactly AT maximum power or maximum rpm for optimal performance.
they tend to get better epa ratings especially in the city boosting epa combined gas mileage. I have a 2014 altima CVT and have been driving fast. I'm averaging 35mpg. even with the cold starts...
+Viktor Freesmeier Luxury car makers are targeting the sportier feel of the gear changes. CVTs are for fuel efficiency and while they don't get way better gas mileage than manuals all the time, they do beat traditional automatics due to the reduced weight similar to the manuals which helps. CVTs/automatics have the advantage of being better at shifting for fuel efficiency compared to people driving manuals. Put together, CVTs are a trend that we'll continue to see take over.
***** Idk, I guess I don't really drive sporty cars so front vs rear vs awd doesn't matter to me when it comes to handling dynamics beyond wintery conditions. If you're not pushing your car hard in corners and accelerating coming out of them, drivetrain configuration shouldn't matter much.
Roman, your reviews are really down to earth and spot on, but couldn't help to notice that you were very settled in this one!?! Would it be because the driver was a Honda Company Representative, who was very strong on the "Smart ass" side of positively marketing his product !?!? WTF !!! It felt like as if you are at a car dealer and the sales man pushes and argues with you what you are going to like and not what you actually want in the car! For example, when you mentioned the radio volume knob, he starts arguing that it will not look aesthetic and it will be out of place.., while there are those huge A/C knobs?! A beautiful Radio knob would have been perfect and more safely to handle than a touch screen that will take your attention away from the road. If pleasing aesthetics were to be considered, It would have been more aesthetically pleasing to see the A/C unit being touch screen as well as the radio. And why was he bragging about the weird steering volume pad, what an eye sore! Please keep up the good reviews and don't make reviews with company reps present, who are trying to overrate the product, as if the public has to learn to like it because we do not know what we like, it is painful to watch!!!
Dear Honda: I LOVE the new 1.5 boosted engine! 42mpg highway and 170+ HP. Sounds like a true winner of an engine. However, when I read that a manual transmission is not available, I'm immediately not interested. Not gonna buy a CVT, sorry.
I bought a 16 EX-T. Had it for 3 weeks now and I LOVE it!! I drive with the ECON engaged and get 38-39 combined mpg. The only complaint I have, and it's probably only temporary, is when I first get in the car. I live in Florida so when you first get in the car, you roast. I have yet to figure out how to navigate around the warning prompt after the Honda symbol goes away. It's a good 10+ seconds before I can access the climate control. Is there a way around this?
I agree I hate that when I turn my car on I can change to the climate control fast enough not to mention there's no knob for the volume I hate the slow touch screen
Can you remotely roll down all windows and turn on the car for a few minutes before entering it? That's how I'd do to blow out the hot air with preset temperature.
+Pat H When I think about it, I remote start it a few minutes before I get in. It's summer in Florida (rain 24/7) so rolling windows down isn't an option. I just wasn't sure if someone else figured a way around those initial screen prompts.
Looks like Honda did a really great job here, but I understand that even on the Touring trim level there is no adjustment for the driver's lumbar support. To me this seems unfortunate for a car that had so much effort put into it. For me, I need a lumbar adjustment. How much cost could possibly be added to have even a manual adjustment?
Honda needs to put more focus into hybrid engines. I would like to see a Civic Wagon version with a Hybrid engine similar to the Prius V. This car STILL uses that gear shifter which is out of style now.
I really am wondering how this stacks up to the 2015 Volkswagen Golf TSI, which I own. I definitely want to drive a new Civic and see if I made the right choice going with the Golf rather than waiting.
+Angry Whale you're the idiot. you didn't realize what I was saying. a CVT is quicker than a conventional automatic, the only thing better is a DCT. don't jump to conclusions, fuckboy.
i cant believe how many trims you have to go up just to get a leather wrapped steering wheel. That's my biggest (or possibly only) gripe with this car.
Deciding elantra sr turbo and civic (RS In Australia but I think model below touring model in US?) How do they compare which do you reccommend? Civic feels a bit more premium inside compared to elentra. I think Civic design is better. More aggressive and sporty and stands out. Elantra is more conservative looking. Inside of elantra is more minimalistic and more straight forward to use. Elantra has 1.6 turbo with 7spd dct compared to civics 1.5 turbo CVT. They're pretty close for me but edging towards Honda.
Here's the thing with me and Civics. I'm not a fan when it comes to them. Never had and never will. However I'm slowly starting to like the Civic because of this new design look. Sure in my eyes it doesn't look appealing compared to other cars (i.e. Corolla) but if I compared it to the other generations, I would say this is far by the best one in terms of interior and exterior. The great side about this generation is that it has a completely new look and it doesn't have the same old Civic look back in 2000. If I was a Civic or Honda fan, I would definitely choose this car due to EPA, horsepower, space, good reputation, and reliability. The only thing that would turn me down from this new design look is the back of the car. The back or the trunk looks a little bit like a hatchback car. In my opinion, hatchbacks doesn't fit with me. My first car was a sedan (still driving it today). Considering that my first car was a sedan, I've always love sedan cars rather it was a mid-sized, compact, or a subcompact, I just love sedans. One of the reasons why the Civic would be the right choice for me is because it's a sedan car and what makes it even better is that it's a compact car. It's not mid-sized or a subcompact car where the size of the car would be too big or too small for me (my opinion I will never get any subcompact, mid-sized well I may have second thoughts). That's one thing that the Civic had or maybe it still has a sedan look. After all it is still classified as a sedan car. I just think it has a tiny hatchback design touch. That's the only thing that would turn me down if I had to get a Honda, but other than that I wouldn't have any other reason to get this car. I would have to say this is the best Civic that Honda has made. The generations that I still dislike are the 7th and 8th. Never liked them in any way and that's why I am not a Civic fan. The 9th generation was ok but it was more like a gentle car. I think the 10th will be great for Honda and I hope this generation does great things for them compared to the others.
You and me both a car should source it's inspiration from with in it's country saying everything is European inspired means nothing but a harsh ride to me, I am glad I'm not the only one who wants cars to be what they are supposed to be not what people want them to be great video I'm mostly an American fan but acknowledge beauty when I see it.
Isn't this car not going to be a Type R? Thought this was a quick stop gap till we get a all new global civic which will get a Type R model...? Or am I wrong about this?
When is this car coming out? It is called "everything you wanted to know." What about the date?! Watch "Through the Years of Honda"! Refreshed part 2 coming soon.
Would it hurt them to make a wagon again with all wheel drive? it's nice that they have all this new stuff but a DX model with no AC, radio or new electronic gadgets and crank up Windows would be awesome. it's a shame that most of us will buy it and then take half the stuff out of it.
In my opinion the Honda is a better looking car and the new 10th Gen Civic is really fun to drive with the Turbo Engine. Also, Honda's have been traditionally some of the most reliable cars on the market. I'd say drive both and see which one feels better to you. If you want raw opinion I would recommend the Honda Civic.
I know nothing about Forte's but I do own a 16 Civic EX-T and I love it!! I've had it for 3 weeks now and put 2k miles on it. So far, it's amazing with great mpg.
Hey HondaPro Jason dont let them HaterZzz Hate, Im a fanboy also i will always have a HONDA. My first car was a 1997 Honda accord LX loved it till i wrecked it, (Well long story short it wasnt my fault) then i got a 2011 Honda accord. Then i wanted to get a new car so i was looking at the 2014 Honda accord to the 2014 civic, Ended up with the 13 civic cuz on the test drives i herd that CVT whine and i didnt like it, So i got the 2013 Honda Civic Ex with the 5 spd Auto!!
Updates?
I have the 2016 2.0 L 6 speed manual and its perfect with 170k.
Never ever liked a Civic or any compact car for that matter. But I saw this one and then went to the lot to sit inside and check it out... I'm buying it!!!
+Xavier Robinson my 2013 is better..
+russphilly my 1995 civic gets better mileage than yours ;)
maybe in the city..but I drive highway and get constantly 42 mpg
I get 44 in the city and like 55 on the highway ;) +russphilly
so right! I'm a Maxima 6 cylinder kind of guy. Saw the car on Honda's website. Came test driving it and made the purchase the next day. Loving it. One problem though: where the hell is the partial tinted sun visor on the windshield? Don't most car has it nowadays?
Just picked up my new Civic EX today! I love this thing, best design Honda has come out with in years!
+SpudForceable 2013 is happening!..last year before shitty cvt!
SpudForceable who is holding up? I'm thinking about buying one
How do you like it so far? I'm thinking about getting a used 16 civic ex
hey any updates on your civic
Honda killed it this time!
You guys missed two things:

+GT6SuzukaTimeTrials Move to the Northeast and straight roads of more than a half mile to mile are rare.
I think the new front makes it look like an Accord. And now it is nearly as big as an Accord... Save $4500 and buy a Civic.
I rather have the Accord, it looks better, I prefer naturally aspirated.

What's that noisy rattling sound at 20:12? I thought the cabin was supposed to be quiet? You can hear the wind noise outside.
hey guys,
thank you for showcasing the interior- arm rest, etc! wow, i learned that there is a hump on the floor for the rear passengers- i did not know that until watching this video. thank you for details and input. now i'm really looking forward to getting the new civic!

I've actually never disliked Honda
but never had one
just amazing, you guys really do give me every single information i need. keep up the good work.
I have a 2016 Honda Civic EX-T and you guys are reselling me on my own car as I watch this lol
You guys make a good team - the fanboy and the critic. Looking forward to a review of the Si soon.
Roman didn't say a single nice thing about this car. Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed...
Super awesome redesign for the Civic. I was an 8th-gen purist, but I'm in line for a 2016 Touring!
The LX Trim has a physical volume knob, don't the reviewers know that by now?
Everything you need to know about Honda. Due to computer error the electronic brake on my 2016 Civic engaged while I was driving the car. I think it was a poor decision to leave the manual transmission option only to the less capable 2.0 liter motor.
This is a pretty damn good review of this car. I like how it’s broken down into sections with a little commentary in between.
Excellent review. The previous model was too low to sit upright (anyone over 6' would have to recline the seat somewhat to avoid hitting the ceiling with your head). Same true for the Carolla. I have a 2016 Honda Civic EX model. I love it.
Me too, the Silver one. I turn heads every time i'm driving.
I have a black 2017 EX-T I love it
how is it riding over speed bumps
I'm looking to buy a used one. How is the ex and ex-t models without power seats? I'm 5"7' how is the driving with no height adjustment?
Excellent review guys!! Thanks!!
I really like what I'm hearing about this car. I currently drive a 2014 Mazda 3. It's really fun to drive but the road noise is sometimes unbearable. If this new Civic is as refined as they're saying it is, including driving pretty sporty, then I might have to trade up for it.
+Robert Merrill I wouldn't doubt the refinement claims. Even the 2013 base Civic LX was much quieter than the Mazda 3 I drove before.
You figure these other automakers would learn from Ford who tried to touch sensitive button thing a few years back but has since replaced them with actually physical buttons since then.

+MrKeyboardCommando coming from transsexual fantasy kid ...

yup, thats going to be the problem with the type R. You get a 6spd manual or maybe a CVT, with a GTI you get the DSG.

In all honesty Roman, Jason totally owned the later part of the video...... "The Selfie"....
if the 2 engines get the same mpg, then just get the 2liter non turbo so if you want more power you can just turbo it
Roman, your reviews are really down to earth and spot on, but couldn't help to notice that you were very settled in this one!?!
I really Like it now I wanna go see if I can find one to test drive!
getting the lx for the 2 litter and of course manual
22:13 what that noise. chassis noise or road noise?
I would like to see a lengthy base model with the manual review .
Dear Honda: I LOVE the new 1.5 boosted engine! 42mpg highway and 170+ HP. Sounds like a true winner of an engine. However, when I read that a manual transmission is not available, I'm immediately not interested. Not gonna buy a CVT, sorry.
Beautiful car, I'm getting one for sure
Can't wait for the type R and ricer editions!
@@MonkyPocks01 gotta move to a better climate
Looks like Honda did a really great job here, but I understand that even on the Touring trim level there is no adjustment for the driver's lumbar support. To me this seems unfortunate for a car that had so much effort put into it. For me, I need a lumbar adjustment. How much cost could possibly be added to have even a manual adjustment?
Honda needs to put more focus into hybrid engines. I would like to see a Civic Wagon version with a Hybrid engine similar to the Prius V. This car STILL uses that gear shifter which is out of style now.
The armrest looks like it may be to low to be comfortable, can you please expand on how the armrest felt, thanks.
Pretty insane that it has adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning or under 30
great review
I really am wondering how this stacks up to the 2015 Volkswagen Golf TSI, which I own. I definitely want to drive a new Civic and see if I made the right choice going with the Golf rather than waiting.
Very nice to show us, it would be help for me to buy CIvic
please tell me the type r isn't coming with electric hand brake
+quietguy1948 this kid serious?
+quietguy1948 k this kid isn't being serious
+quietguy1948 I am in utter disbelief, unless you're a troll...
+Muhammad Umar you're either another troll or another idiot
+Muhammad Umar people get it will get it, you sir do not need to bother
I own the ex-t.. but.. what is that clicking noise that i hear on a consistent basis with the new cars? Is that the cvt transmission?
What's wrong with a modern CVT?
+David van der Zande boring and they dont shift. shifting makes it better. cvt slows it down
+thweepz actually the shifting of a normal no DCT automatic is slower than a CVT. if you think a CVT is slow, you don't know how to drive it..
+brycmtthw Idiot. Nothing beats a Dual clutch. CVT's are pieces of shit.
angry whale you couldnt be more right
+Angry Whale you're the idiot. you didn't realize what I was saying. a CVT is quicker than a conventional automatic, the only thing better is a DCT. don't jump to conclusions, fuckboy.
i cant believe how many trims you have to go up just to get a leather wrapped steering wheel. That's my biggest (or possibly only) gripe with this car.
Really good. I like just about everything about this car for the price.
the best civic design since 93
Deciding elantra sr turbo and civic (RS In Australia but I think model below touring model in US?) How do they compare which do you reccommend?
Sure in my eyes it doesn't look appealing compared to other cars (i.e. Corolla)------ That did it Gramps
can't wait for the type r
You and me both a car should source it's inspiration from with in it's country saying everything is European inspired means nothing but a harsh ride to me, I am glad I'm not the only one who wants cars to be what they are supposed to be not what people want them to be great video I'm mostly an American fan but acknowledge beauty when I see it.
Dual exhaust makes a lot more sense on rear wheel drive V engine cars.
Question- what's the difference between the touring civic vs touring accord? Is it size only? Obviously the accord is more money...
$25k 2014 Lexus IS250 with 20k miles or the Civic Touring $25k...Which would you buy?????
2 weeks in and I'm still turning the temp up in the car in an effort to turn up the volume.
im using a base one for a loaner car right now, I think it's extremely harsh riding and the seats are uncomfortable as hell.
Does it have an automatic shiftronic mode? I like the ability to shift but also have the benefit of full auto.
2:54 Made me laugh for whatever reason, lol. Good formatting.
Really want this car
Isn't this car not going to be a Type R? Thought this was a quick stop gap till we get a all new global civic which will get a Type R model...? Or am I wrong about this?
is the rear suspension still indepent? or did they go to a torsion beam like everyone else?
When is this car coming out? It is called "everything you wanted to know." What about the date?! Watch "Through the Years of Honda"! Refreshed part 2 coming soon.
I'm only interested in this car because type r
I'm interested because Si. There's no way my broke ass will ever finance a $30,000+ car.
+kma198199 What is wrong with you?
Would it hurt them to make a wagon again with all wheel drive? it's nice that they have all this new stuff but a DX model with no AC, radio or new electronic gadgets and crank up Windows would be awesome. it's a shame that most of us will buy it and then take half the stuff out of it.
at 3:30 the guy said it comes with a 6 speed auto...i think he meant manual.
Honest question, I'm looking to buy a Civic sedan or a Kia forte sedan. Opinions on which is the better purchase?
In my opinion the Honda is a better looking car and the new 10th Gen Civic is really fun to drive with the Turbo Engine. Also, Honda's have been traditionally some of the most reliable cars on the market. I'd say drive both and see which one feels better to you. If you want raw opinion I would recommend the Honda Civic.
I'm probably late, but these new Civics are the best value I've ever seen in any car.
I know nothing about Forte's but I do own a 16 Civic EX-T and I love it!! I've had it for 3 weeks now and put 2k miles on it. So far, it's amazing with great mpg.
Does the '16 Civic have a lockable glove box and trunk like the Accord? Which trims?
Waiting for the SI Coupe
Reminds me Mazda 626, that was produced back in the year 1995
What is the issue with cvt? My accord is cvt and it's pretty decent. I don't even notice lol.
6:00 wrong, there have been automatic si's 2004 had a 4 door si sedan that came with an auto
Was the edit sequence intentional? Haven't watched any other channel videos, so not sure if this is the shtick.
At 10:11 they're driving down the road and the speedometer shows 0 MPH. So is it broken or is it lousy editing?
+zip89105 it was in park dude.
Well done. I don't know why would anybody buy anything else.
Yea... Let's put 2 commercials on a too long video for a Honda Civic!
6:00 Are you just meaning Civics? Because my 91 Honda Prelude Si is Automatic so just wondering.
