@@stevenmorris2293 It's great; the insurance is NOT great. Most young idiots buy the civic, and those same idiots crash their cars trying to go fast/drift/street race, so the insurance for a Civic is expensive.

So Hyundai saw best observed fuel economy yet he stated Honda was by far most efficient? Lol no. On paper yes but in your real world test the Elantra had the best economy.
I own a civic touring from 2017 and its going strong even after 170k Kilometers. I agree with your review. Also this elantra here is one best looking elantra than the new ones. This one is still great on the streets.
This is a very good review. I like the fact that you guys used a hill to see how the cars will handle it. This is not something all reviews do and I find it very useful to know!
I test drove a CorollaS and a Civic EX-T. The Civic felt sporty and fun plus the interior gadgets are never ending. The camera in the passenger mirror blew my mind. The Corolla felt like I was in a coffin on my way to my funeral. It was so boring. Oh but reliability.. Longevity.. Blah blah!! Honda is right up there. I went home with the Civic a week ago. Loving every second!!
And you will be getting a new one in about 5 more years from now. A 7 year car compared to a Corolla that will out last the civic and any other car on the road.
Test drove all 3 and then some, and hands down civic is the best in every aspect. Its got power, looks, tech, gas effeciency and most of all so much space! I went with EX Turbo for only 21k.
MvancE30 Segment 'leaders'... haha it could be in terms of sales, but truthfully, when comparing compact cars, quality matters too. Elantra (feature here) while is nice, still full of hard plastic (I think Hyundai missed an opportunity), and well Corolla is just the mediocre Corolla it always has been. The new Civic is luxurious, rides well, attractive, and well-engineered. Mazda3 also has been a segment leader (since late 2013), and is very sporty to drive. Golf is another great-driving vehicle that is really well worth more than Corolla. If you're comparing segment cars, you've got to look at the actual leaders in terms of design, luxury, material quality, ride, handling, sportiness, and versatility, not just the sales numbers...
shame on toyota for making an affordable car for the masses that is more reliable than any of the cars on the market. not everyone needs all those fancy features in a car. at the end of the day, you're buying a box with four wheels. some people just need reliable transportation that goes from A to B without a hitch for as long and as cost effective as possible.
I think it's going to be on the 2017 one. Toyota redesigned it. But the outside looks similar, but they say the entune is different, so I hope so. I'm a Toyota/Honda guy anyway, but I'm waiting, and if it's just the same old I'll definitely get the Civic.
"enthusiasts" think every car should have awd, 300+ hp, a hatchback, a turbo, ect. You cant have all these things because people dont need them. The corolla is built to please people on budgets or needs of simple transportation.
I prefer what Entune offers more than Android Auto. Entune gives you less apps, but they cover basically every recourse you want while driving. On the other side Android Auto gives you way more apps, but they all combined cover way less recourses than Entune does with its fewer apps. Maybe this is why Entune has the best rating on the Play Store that Hyundai's Bluelink, Honda's Honda Link, Android Auto.
If the Honda have a knob to control the volume up and down I'll say its the winner for me. it might sound stupid but I HATE TOUCH CONTROLS IN DASHBOARDS. so the Elantra is the one to buy.
Don't forget about touch screen climate controls as well. You can feel knobs and buttons, but can't feel around on a touchscreen. I like touchscreens, but Honda's has gotten too nerdy. There are just some things you just never mess around with.
I fully agree to their rank order. Civic is the clear winner here. You’re getting a more stylish car, higher performance, and has a lot of tech. You’re getting a lot more car with the Civic. The 1.5L turbo option blows away their compact competitors. Corolla seems to just scream “boring”. No wow factor at all. Sure they’re reliable and cheap, but will you be in awe or thrilled about it? Most likely not unless you’re super old. The Elantra is right there in the middle with the best of both worlds. Again, the Civic just has a bit more to offer and proven reliability.
I consider myself a car enthusiast and I don't think I'd ever buy a brand new car. I generally hate the way new economy-level cars and SUVs look, just a bunch of blobs with little character. But something about the Elantra... especially the Sport model, I don't know why but I fucking love it. It has an Audi-like grille and Jaguar-like headlights. Seriously, look at a picture of the Jaguar XE and the Elantra and tell me the headlights don't look similar. It looks great from any angle.
Hmmm. That's actually interesting. I drive a corolla exactly like the one in this video haha it has a sunroof and is fully optioned up and it has been an outstanding car to drive. It's my first brand new car and I was surprise she said she had trouble with the acceleration. Mine has been more than adequate. Especially when you put it into sport mode and use the sequential paddle shifters. I've hit 130mph in this car and 0-60 acceleration is beyond adequate and while passing. Cabin is quiet and anyone who owns the new generation toyota knows that you can actually personalize the vehicles engine system and voice recognition by training it. There is a setting to train the car to recognize your voice. Ever since then I have never had any trouble or slack when using voice command. All nice vehicles. I am surprised the corolla came in last. To each their own I suppose I'm beyond grateful for mine and would give it 5 stars any day. Future quarter million mile club anyone? :)
I ended up with a 17 Elantra, nice looking but mine came with chipped paint and Rust on the body. Had to file a complaint to get a replacement. The replacement came with some paint defects too.....
I just bought a 2017 Elantra base with the 6 speed manual, will be happy with mid 30's highway, at age 61 I grew up with manual and I cant see much great with a CVT except a drip better fuel economy, when someone floors a car and EXPECTS to up a hill asking for power and getting nothing but 'hunting' for fuel economy I say keep it
Best time to buy Elantra now. I just bought a brand new "base" Limited with a MSRP of $23755 for $14605 after dealer discount and all rebates. What a deal ! Almost 40% MSRP
The lady was way too biased, didn't even mention the backup camera in the corolla. All of them were pretty much telling you the civic was way better...
Well, you're correct, if you only use this video as evidence. They did a fantastic job at highlighting the best properties of the extremely expensive trims while avoiding the obvious benefits of the cheaper and underrated corolla.
Alfonso Flores Funny... Mazda's SKYACTIV vehicle reliability has been pretty high... almost to match with Toyota, yet they build fun-to-drive, engaging cars, not to mention they offer a manual in almost all trims of most cars in their small lineup. Really, no benefit from Toyota. Honda is just has reliable, and they definitely build even spirited vehicles than Toyota. How sad.
The woman in the Corolla had no clue how to use the navigation system. You don't say you need directions to an address. You just put in the place you need to go and it looks it up for you.
Evidence to prove?? Have y’all even owned one? This isn’t the 80s anymore. Take care of your car, and your car will take care of you. Hyundai is improving while Honda isn’t as good as they used to be. I used to be a Honda fanboy, not anymore. Hyundai is on the top 10 now. Just as reliable with a better warranty and cheaper to own.
I went to Toyota then Hyundai dealership because it's only 5miles away from my home, then I saw a 2016 Honda Civic Ext on the dealer from a costumer, I just walk out saying and drove 20miles to Honda. Got it! It's much more sporty, reliable and stronger engine.
Would have preferred a comparison to cars like Mazda 3 hatch, Subaru, cars that had some niche appeal. Comparing yourself to appliance cars, bound to win.
Omg, the corolla will totally trump the civic and elantra with its late 90s chassis and technology that is as good as the days of the Reagan administration. Looks like Toyota has finally spoken to its main customer base for the Corolla.
I do. My friend has an older Corolla and it is the most reliable thing on four wheels. It would just be nice if Toyota would step up their game to compete with other brands instead of just coasting along on reliability.
@@dapperkitten7527 That's not Toyota's philosophy, they built up their brand by making affordable cheap cars that are super reliable. If you want something else than simply don't get a toyota, though if your looking for an affordable & reliable car then Toyota is for you.
I think the Civic 1.5T with it's torque can keep up with the Jetta. The main advantage of the civic though I think is that the platform is much newer than the Jetta's. The technology, driver aids, and standard equipment available with a newer platform will be very appealing to people.
The new 1.4 tsi in the Jetta will out perform all of these. The 1.8tsi will look like a monster to these. That 1.8 has shit tons of pull for such a little engine and the 1.4 will spin the tires for a good distance even being that small.
While I do agree the Civic seems to be the better overall car, I think the Elantra looks better in terms of styling. Also, having experience with both Honda's and Hyundai's infotainment (and Toyota's, but it's so bad it's not even worth comparing), I'm more partial to Hyundai's User Interface. Design elements are more consistent screen to screen with the Hyundai UI, whereas Honda's UI has different designs for different parts of the UI, different sizes for tap areas, and even pop up windows for some elements. The overall consistency of the Hyundai UI makes it much more intuitive to use, as well as the fact that there are knobs for volume and tuning, something sorely missed when dealing with sliders.
To those of you saying the Elantra is the best, you haven't driven the new Civic. The Elantra represents an excellent value for what you get, but lets face it... the engines in the Corolla and Elantra are underpowered compared to the Civic, especially with Honda's 1.5T. To some people this may not matter, but the Civic is also the most refined to drive (only car of the 3 with fully independent suspension at all 4 corners), and it comes well equipped. Honda benchmarked the Audi A3 when they designed the new Civic, and it really does feel like an entry level luxury car, especially in EX-L and Touring trims. The Elantra and Corolla still feel like economy cars.
corolla: car you can beat up for many years, easy to drive, also ages really well. civic: fun to drive, nice interior, though not as durable, and has great features but somehow forgets to add a volume knob. hyundai: 100k warranty, but ride can be bumpy. honestly it all depends on what you need most in a car. looks are really subjective. ultimately, features don't matter if the car breaks down. if you ask me the corolla wins because it'll stand the test of time better than the other two. I own a corolla though so I may be a bit biased.
The lady in the Corolla doesn't know how to drive. She complained about the CVT hating the hill but she neglected to use and mention the paddle shifters. A CVT may not have gears but you can still control the RPMs with a manual mode and therefore achieve higher RPMs if she needed them. 17 year models addressed the driver assist options although I admit it's needing a redesign and better handling. Otherwise it's a very competent vehicle. It's also the roomies but they conveniently forgot to mention that as well.
I got a 97 corolla, in 97, still got it, 20 yrs, more reliable than my wife, sorry
lol xD
Same for Honda. I got 99 Cr-v with no issues. Honda is know whit its spirit and durability
I had a '94 Corolla. Finally died @ 230k so I donated it. Great vehicle though. Very reliable 'till the end.

Best time to buy Elantra now. I just bought a brand new "base" Limited with a MSRP of $23755 for $14605 after dealer discount and all rebates. What a deal ! Almost 40% MSRP
where's the cruze and focus?......
I love my all new 2016 Civic Touring with Turbo. Definitely a right choice I made!!
Turbo = more mechanical wear and tear and more engine stress.
Is the Elantra able to get up steep hills going 55mph?
Any day Elantra..
Those hills parking give me anxiety about cold starts as n oil
The lady was way too biased, didn't even mention the backup camera in the corolla. All of them were pretty much telling you the civic was way better...
Clay Schiebrel Because it is. They are trying not to sound biased.
Well, you're correct, if you only use this video as evidence. They did a fantastic job at highlighting the best properties of the extremely expensive trims while avoiding the obvious benefits of the cheaper and underrated corolla.
loved your review
thank you.
That Corolla is a fucking joke. It's an appliance on wheels that happens to have a motor.
dat toaster/ washing machine feelz
I don't know how Toyota manages to suck all the soul out of these cars...
that's exactly what consumers want.
+Michael Lee Toyota is reliability for consumers, nothing else. rarely will u ever see an "enthusiast Toyota"
I like the Hyundai better its a sexy ass car
i love ennard for ever engine is unreliable and garbage
Elantra quality poor
Hyundai is the knock off for Honda’s they suck
Evidence to prove?? Have y’all even owned one? This isn’t the 80s anymore. Take care of your car, and your car will take care of you. Hyundai is improving while Honda isn’t as good as they used to be. I used to be a Honda fanboy, not anymore. Hyundai is on the top 10 now. Just as reliable with a better warranty and cheaper to own.
Thanks for complimenting my car.
0:27 I love this part of your video, with camera shots and music is cool.
In Elantra, you sit the closest to the windshield and see the road closer and wider.
Great Reviews :P
Thanks!
Ya I agree, we need a comparison with the Mazda 3, Cruze, Golf, and Impreza
This driver needs to put some foot on that pedal with the Hyundai Elantra.
honda civic, best looking? The Hyundai Elantra is a beast and the corolla, well they pretty much summed it up.
watching this in my new civic!!
I went to Toyota then Hyundai dealership because it's only 5miles away from my home, then I saw a 2016 Honda Civic Ext on the dealer from a costumer, I just walk out saying and drove 20miles to Honda. Got it! It's much more sporty, reliable and stronger engine.
Please do a Hatchbacks comparo with the Cruze, Forte5, and Golf.
the cruze has a hatch variant ? I have never seen one in the states
+Skylin Megas The 2017 Cruze Hatchback arrives fall 2016.
Kamaka Chang interesting .... Appreciate the info
And don't forget the new upcoming hatchback Elantra GT-N (European version called i30 N).
YEAH A CAR THAT COST 10000 DOLLARS MORE SHOULD BEAT A CAR THAT ISN'T TRIMMED IN GOLD.....
Honda baby! what a great civic and great company. they know what their customers want/need. :)
Would have preferred a comparison to cars like Mazda 3 hatch, Subaru, cars that had some niche appeal. Comparing yourself to appliance cars, bound to win.
What about the manual gear boxes? CVT's I don't even consider.
Civic is awsome...
Throw in Hyundai's warranty and tell me who won.
I'd like to see the perspective from the passengers, too.
2017 civic looks aggressive and drives smoothly plus has honda lane watch camera to check your blindspot w/o having to turn your head to check.
Hi Emmie! Long time no see! I was looking for you at TFL!
Omg, the corolla will totally trump the civic and elantra with its late 90s chassis and technology that is as good as the days of the Reagan administration. Looks like Toyota has finally spoken to its main customer base for the Corolla.
lol
I feel sad for the Mitsubishi lancer
Am I the only one feeling bad for toyota :(.
I do. My friend has an older Corolla and it is the most reliable thing on four wheels. It would just be nice if Toyota would step up their game to compete with other brands instead of just coasting along on reliability.
@@dapperkitten7527 Toyota is the number one car dealer in the world right now. They don't need to step up their game.
@@dapperkitten7527 That's not Toyota's philosophy, they built up their brand by making affordable cheap cars that are super reliable. If you want something else than simply don't get a toyota, though if your looking for an affordable & reliable car then Toyota is for you.
@@uhavemooface No Ford is the number 1 car dealer in the world, last updated 1954.
The VW Jetta with the 1.8TSI still outpaces all of these in my opinion. Emmy? I know u reviewed a 2011 Jetta 2.5 SEL in a previous life.
+DinoZambas3 fuck off
I think the Civic 1.5T with it's torque can keep up with the Jetta.
***** I'm sure the civic's 1.5 can spin the tires too. So what? You can spin tires on a jetta, horray!
+Crispin Sugita the Jetta 1.8 will out perform a 1.5 civic no questions asked.
I think the elantra has a slight edge in the looks department
Me too I agree!
hyundai is the best of the 3 for sure
Nah not reliable.
Should have had Cooly driving a Nissan Sentra or Mazda 3
ugly is included at no extra cost
in 2026 that corolla will still be on the road.
civic ... best looking? Isn't the elantra the best looking between those 3 cars?
the front of is too frumpy
I think the elantra has a slight edge in the looks department
I agree the Elantra is better looking. I'm not a fan of all that chrome on the Civic.
elantra looks better imo
The new Civics look just butt ugly as hell.... Never buying Hondas....
You guys are doing a great job of making shit look like gold.
The format for this comparison is too confused. You need to work on better directing.
jajajajaja
corolla: car you can beat up for many years, easy to drive, also ages really well. civic: fun to drive, nice interior, though not as durable, and has great features but somehow forgets to add a volume knob. hyundai: 100k warranty, but ride can be bumpy. honestly it all depends on what you need most in a car. looks are really subjective. ultimately, features don't matter if the car breaks down. if you ask me the corolla wins because it'll stand the test of time better than the other two. I own a corolla though so I may be a bit biased.
The Honda is so so hot
Matthew Saad 2007 lol wtf
The lady in the Corolla doesn't know how to drive. She complained about the CVT hating the hill but she neglected to use and mention the paddle shifters. A CVT may not have gears but you can still control the RPMs with a manual mode and therefore achieve higher RPMs if she needed them. 17 year models addressed the driver assist options although I admit it's needing a redesign and better handling. Otherwise it's a very competent vehicle. It's also the roomies but they conveniently forgot to mention that as well.
Good work.
This review was great.
civic is the best
As soon as read the title of this video, I knew which car would be the easy winner.
When 3 people that don't know cars review cars
Elantra wins hands down!!
lol...
nice video!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
