My first car was an 06 civic. I sold it and bought a new 2016 civic when they were first redesigned. I love my car. Never given me any issues and I love the lane watch camera.
I remember when cars were relying on engine power/efficiency, suspension system and ride quality instead of the infotainment and cameras everywhere. If you can't drive without your blindspot monitoring and parking sensor then you shouldn't be driving on the roads at all. But that's just my opinion...
Just bought a 2020 Corolla hatchback for our 80 mile round trip commute to work daily . It’s been averaging 44-46 mpg with the cvt . Decent power and I love the fact it has no turbo which will give problems down the road . For the power it has it’s a great car for the great price I got . Dealer came down from 23,600 to 20,200 with car sales being slow . I was shocked for this much discount on a cheaper car
@@criptik5208 The guy isn't looking for adrenaline and highspeed sensations, just a reliable, durable and quality car to go from home to work and back. Thus point A to B
I've test-driven both, the Honda definitely handles better. The Toyota still handles well, but not quite as flickable. That's enough for me to choose the Honda, but it's a close call.
Mudassar Messi - no, you look biased. He chose the one he liked to drive more-that’s not biased. Biased is not accepting his decision because you don’t like the Civic.
I agree the Civic is a cleaner look. I don't know why Toyota put the LCD screen where they did. I wish they would have left it integrated into the dash like they did in previous generations. Other than that, and the lack of rear cross traffic alert not being offered on the Civic, I don't think you could go wrong with either one. For me, the RCTA system is beneficial so it's a pretty easy choice for me. I can get over the radio/dash layout of the Corolla but do prefer the layout of the Civic better. But another big factor for me (coming from a GM vehicle and having mostly American made vehicles in the past) is the reliability. While every company has had their ups and downs in terms of reliability, I feel that Toyota has maintained their overall reliability status with the Corolla. I mean ,the Corolla is a commuter car, the Civic is more of a sporty commuter car. But at the same time, I feel that the newer Civic's aren't as reliable as their older ones (like the 90's models). I feel they started to go downhill when they redesigned them in 2001 and thus lost out on things like reliability (the 2001-2002 Civics were not very reliable) to Toyota at that point. Plus also Toyota has the CVT thing down pretty good as they have been making them for 20+ years. Honda not quite as long, so from a reliability standpoing, I still think Toyota edges out Honda by a bit. I would say thought if you do get a Corolla, get at least the SE With the 2.0L and the modified CVT with the actual take-off gear. Helps in multiple ways, one of which being less wear on the CVT (as CVTs don't handle torque all that well, compared to a regular transmission with actual gears).
Hugo Ferreira respectable opinion as i think that the front end of the corolla you either absolutely like it, or it really has to grow on you. where the rear end looks so smooth. while the civic tail lights are atrocious
arcanine 917 Got behind a Corolla today and just for a second thought it was a Camry. Definitely like the Corolla rear end better then the Civic. Both cars are good and wouldn’t complain over either. But I’ll keep my 06 Civic till it falls apart. Love not having car notes.
Rata 4U Wait till you crash then we’ll talk. Nobody cares about bikes, everyone knows they’re faster but that’s because of their power/weight ratio but that’s boring.
Pitt Viper Boring? 😂 I’m guessing you’ve never ridden a sport bike or even a motorcycle. Nothing about them is boring.... to the contrary it’s soooooo much more engaging than driving a car, you have to pay waaaaay more attention and every decision is your life, you can’t fall off a car.
i watched this video after i got approved by the dealership, and its nice to know it was the better one between these 2 cars. Only 2 hours until i pick up my civic!! Im so excited
Corrola would be my pick as it has more physical buttons and is more reliable. It also looks cool. My father had been using a Corrola since 13 years and still has no problems and no breakdowns.
I have owned both 2016 Civic & 2021 Corolla SE, I say CIVIC hands down. I think if you are more into exterior of the car, color is a big factor for both cars. My civic was blacked out with chrome accents making it sparkle in the day time, and mysterious at night. My corolla is the bright white with black & graphite accents making it much more noticeable. I agree that the civic handles much better on the road, and is much lower to the ground giving more of a sporty feel. Interior the civic was much roomer, I have 40" legs so there was plenty of room to stretch out and I notice that my knees are constantly knocking in the corolla. When it comes down to technology, corolla definitely has more bells and whistles with the 2021 model that they've expanded on through the Toyota app adding android play and alexa. The middle center console is bigger in the civc but it has larger cup holders, deeper storage, more compartment trays to easily conceal things (sunglasses, ez pass, coins, etc.).
They worry about long term reliability more. Corolla is a huge car for them. They sell 350,000 a year. Best selling car of all time. They don't wanna risk screwing up the image of durability. Honestly most people buying these cars don't care about turbos and power.

Civic gives you that special exciting feeling because of its exquisite exterior that is far ahead of any car available in its price range. Plus the handling, interior and drive quality is way superior. Owning this civic makes you happier as you don't really need extra cash to buy other far more expensive sedans.

For some reason, I don't see the new Corolla compared to civic. But when I do see it, it looks much more aggressive than it seems in video and pictures. Very pretty
I've owned both , currently the Honda and previously the Corolla. I've had 2 a.c. issues with the civic in the past year . The car has 85000 miles . This has amounted to close to 4k in repairs by the dealership. Luckily I bought a 100k warranty - which I usually never do . This cost me 2k . No more Hondas for me . I'm currently shopping the Corolla SE . My Corolla never had any major issues and I sold it at 140k miles.
Herman Wooster it’s pathetic that the civic has to rely on a turbo to be slightly faster than the naturally aspirated corolla. corolla also has that first real gear and looks far better than the civic. gtfoh with those ugly ass tail lights and the hideous af hdmi looking exhaust on their top tier civics 😂
@@dino91001 dude wtf are you talking about? The 1.5t Civic runs a quarter mile in around 15 seconds, the Corolla in 16. Some Civics have done high 14s with upgrades tires. Also neither car has a "real gear" because they're CVTs. Also looks are subjective but the it obvious that he Civic looks much sportier than the Corolla. You're just plain stupid.

I'm surprised they liked the looks of the Corolla better. The civic with those jeweled eye headlights, fastback roof, and taillights design easily takes the cake. Not to mention those body lines...

Honda Civic. My mom had a 2000 Honda Civic for 18 years she bought it brand new and got $1000 trade in for it in 2018! I recommend the Civic!
$1000 trade in is criminal. The 2000 civic is a LEGENDARY car! They go for atleast $2-3k on the used market!
And if you've got a 2000 Si, you can get $6-10k
Just bought the 2020 Civic EX-L. Love it so far
I remember when cars were relying on engine power/efficiency, suspension system and ride quality instead of the infotainment and cameras everywhere. If you can't drive without your blindspot monitoring and parking sensor then you shouldn't be driving on the roads at all. But that's just my opinion...
Absolutely!!!

I'll take the corolla because it doesnt have a turbo. One less maintenance item for point a to b driving 🤷♂️
The civic 2.0 litre has no turbo as well
what do you mean by pint to b driving
@@criptik5208 The guy isn't looking for adrenaline and highspeed sensations, just a reliable, durable and quality car to go from home to work and back. Thus point A to B
A lot more than 1 less item haha
I've test-driven both, the Honda definitely handles better. The Toyota still handles well, but not quite as flickable. That's enough for me to choose the Honda, but it's a close call.
@Mudassar Messi ae
Honda Civic it’s better.
The looks i prefere the front of the civic and the rear of the toyota.
Great video guys👍
I had the same view. The corolla rear is really nice.

The Corolla does have a real first gear, in any of the 2.0 liter trims.
tipoomaster I wish they would’ve mentioned this. It really helps off the jump!
impressive what Toyota is getting out their engines without a turbo !!
They worry about long term reliability more. Corolla is a huge car for them. They sell 350,000 a year. Best selling car of all time.

Which one will last longer and therefore have a higher resale price? I think the Corolla, because it has a bigger non-turbo engine.
You're right. The Honda 1.5L turbo engine has a problem with the direct injection. Gasoline gets mixed into the oil, which can cause all sorts of problems.
@@leeham6230 in extremely cold environments, rarely. But yes, does happen
@@deansmits006 That's a bullshit misconception propagated by Honda. In reality, it happens in all climates. Too much pressure from the direct injection combined with the turbo causes the gasoline to seap through the pistons into the oil.

Both reviewers in the video are quite diplomatic. I have both Civic and Corolla at home. There's just no comparison. Corolla is the regular workhorse that is reliable and does the job. Nothing more. Civic gives you that special exciting feeling because of its exquisite exterior that is far ahead of any car available in its price range. @@dino91001 dude wtf are you talking about? The 1.5t Civic runs a quarter mile in around 15 seconds, the Corolla in 16. Some Civics have done high 14s with upgrades tires. That's significantly faster. And before you try to say "oh but it has a turbo", the 2.0 NA Civic does it in 16 seconds too, and it has less horsepower than the Corolla. Also neither car has a "real gear" because they're CVTs. Also looks are subjective but the it obvious that he Civic looks much sportier than the Corolla. You're just plain stupid.
Jose A. 1s is not significantly faster, it’s slightly faster. The turbo will require more maintenance and will not last as long as a NA engine especially with a CVT. Of course the CVT needs the turbo is when paired with a small engine.
