I’m proof of how godlike Layne was. I always find something new, like all this AIC live stuff, and burn it out after a few weeks/month. It’s like 5 months now of only listening to AIC live. No one sings as convincingly and powerful as Staley.
If you were lucky enough to see them on the Dirt tour you never forgot it. I remember being so pumped that I kept jumping as high as I could for no reason so what so ever :) It was so heavy and EVIL sounding! It was never quite the same after they fired Mike. You didn't realize how much his bass sound added until it was gone. I was also completely sober which was unusual for me at a show. After that experience I started going to shows sober all the time.
That’s awesome. I was born in 83 so got into all this music as a kid but missed out on the live shows, was too young. Mike’s bass playing was insane! I played bass in bands for many years so I definitely respect a badass bass tone. His energy was always on point on stage. It’s sad half of the original band is dead.
