Facelift Live: The Moore Theater, Seattle, Dec. 22 1990 here: www.mojvideo.co...
Good footage, right!? I was sitting atop a bench to get this clear of a shot. Layne's voice is just perfect. Enjoy.
SWEET JESUS! How do you grow up thinking you can be a lead singer of a rock band after watching this. I'm not a religious man but if there is a god he touched that boy with THE VOICE.
This Layne compared to the 1996 Layne are like two different people; different voices, different look; different stage prescence. But both badass nonetheless.
Why this band didn't sell as many copies as metallica I'll never know.
I would literally give up my left testicle to go back in time and be at this show.
layne fell so quick. at times its unbelievable what happened to him in the end. we all miss him. RIP Layne Staley & Mike Starr
Mike was truly a badass bass player. Much respect.
Facelift is one of the greatest albums ever...
the sexiest most powerful manly voice ever
wow they performed the entire album the day it was released...lucky people got to see them live..
Listen to that fucking voice.
Jerry always said how trippy it was that Layne at 100lb or so sounded like a 300lb bearded man :P
Of all the Alice concerts I've seen, this is the happiest I've ever seen Layne, smiling and interacting with the crowd.
Layne what a legend and he looked really fucking happy and healthy there, also love the interaction he has with the crowd throughout the show that you can only really have at these small intimate club shows.
It ain't like that anymore.
Great to see all these kids saying they wernt born yet listening and watching this..
19:53 shows the clear spirit n' chaos of what was Seattle at the time. Staley doesn't even blink. This is what we all saw in Staley back then...his banter between songs, actually having fun AND showing it and just incredible vocals. Remember, this is a handcam video from 1990, audio through a piece of crap mic on the cam. As for the Off Ramp, it was a special place.
BTW, the guy calling for the beer is the same guy holding the video camera recording this show. He got thirsty but couldn't leave his position for obvious reasons. I think he deserves a break for a beer request. :)
Isn't it great that somebody though of filming this when I would have just spent the time in the mosh pit in front of the stage?
THIS is the stuff that proves who is a true musician and who is just an over processed studio puppet pushed to sell records. No mixing or remastering and Layne doesn't miss a note. God, I miss his voice and the mark he made on music.
the best concert i never went too!
Bands just aren't this awesome these days. Not even close. 90's FTW.
So lucky to live here... and to be old. ;-)
Saw Heart at Astor Park in '75 with fake ID... and so many others early on.
And then the mid-80s happened. Green River, Mother Love Bone, TAD, Mudhoney, Melvins, Nirvana at the Community Theater in Tacoma in '88 (there's awesome horrible videos of it !)... Pearl Jam outdoors under the Space Needle... all so good.
I am a 45 year old male who was in my twenties during the very beginning of alice way back in the diamond lie days.My step brother jim cooper played bass with jerry in diamond lie and I was playing the seattle scene in my own band.even got into a boxing match with jerry over the mother of my kids.he won but she still had two children with me.I love chainz and still have my facelift demo.Layne you were 100% original theres nothing like your and jerrys dischorded harmonies.man those were the days.
How the hell did this video come about? Easily the best video of AIC on the net.
Layne is my favorite rock voice ever. Having said that Jerry Cantrell wrote most the music, and lyrics. Layne did write as well but the vast majority was Cantrell.
Layne was a fuckin BEAST! Good God! What a band!
Drugs claimed too many good musicians in the 90's including close friends. Wish sometimes I would've joined them. Sorry.
Miss the old days of Alice in Chains That concert was kickass, seeing from the video. So much energy these guys had. My God Layne and Mike are missed so much. Thank you for the video, that's all we have left are these memories. Thank God I was had these guys in my life. This was great times!!
Man Layne could really belt out those songs what a great vocalist!
Wow, what a great show. Must have been right after Facelift came out. Thanks for posting this. Love it.
Layne would have turned 46 in August...just mind blowing...such a great singer...
Holy shit they were so amazing!!! Ive seen them live 3 times. Once with layne and twice with Will. I had tickets for the tour with Metallica but we all know what happened there. AiC will always be my favorite band!!!!
I was 9 months old (minus 1 day) during this show. Who knew they would become one of my favorite bands of all time..and Layne, my favorite singer.
Guy crowd surfing during Sunshine pops up at the exact perfect time.. These guys were great. Glad I got to see them a few times back when music was great.
I am so grateful for this band and what they have done to my life. there's comfort everyday when I take the good with the bad with this music behind me.
o.0
God this is so awsome seeing Layne healthy and strong. Man I wish had been at that show. Exicting time.
I bought Facelift in 1990. "Grunge" was not a term then. They were just a band that had a sound that was different from all the other bands whose videos were played on Headbanger's Ball at that time, and for that reason I instantly dug it. They only downside was they spawned a lot of comically inferior imitations (I don't think I have to name them). I suppose the imitators were paying them tribute in a way, but to my ears it sounded like mockery. They were missing the indefinable essence.
Thank u so fucking much for this
who the hell didn't like this?
Two of four are gone. So, so sucks. Fucking Layne's voice is heaven!
i swear layne could be a stand up comedian..
OMG if was that close to Jerry or Layne, there would have to be mass amounts of body guards holding me back LOL
Bleed the Freak... that is all.
GOD, I LOVE THIS MAN
I really REALLY enjoyed this concert....from my laptop ;-(
Laynes 23rd Bday was the next day,He had an awesome night.
I LOVE THIS!!!!! I MISS LAYNE!! I MISS OLD TIMES!! I MISS GOOD MUSIC!! i MISS YOU LAYNE!!
these guys didnt really get better with age... they were simply badass since beginning
I was there over on Mike's side of the stage. God, better times.
FUCKIN' AWESOME!!! I felt like I was actually in attendance even though this is RUclips. Thanks for posting this show! I miss Layne, Mike and this incredible band. Super stoked that they saw the light of day and left such a vital musical legacy.
i live seattle and frequently visit some of the places that they first played(lynnwood skate and bowl), or walk around the udsitrict where layne lived and got high. and apparently was seen around here and there when he was smacked out of his mind. Whats also nice is i know quite a few people who either met him or have partied with him before he was big. and that goes for the whole band actually. Hell that goes for pretty much all those great bands that call seattle home. awseom fuckin stories
noone will ever have those killer harmonies like layne and jerry, even live they got it
Layne was so alive, very cool and sad to watch at the same time.
im totally a chick. but i call everyone man too...regardless of their gender lol. makes me feel like a stoner when i end every sentence with man. haha
This audience is freaking awesome.
Man that boy had some pipes on him. Still amazes me all this time later!
Out of all the Rock voices, Layne is # 1..... What a voice!!! I grew up in Marysville about half hour north of Seattle... Man, did I miss out.
Now I understand why men love blondes
i love it how some guy flipped off Layne and Layne just smiled
This is Great!!! I truly wish we could go back to times like this, Great music, Our amazing boys!!! It is a phenomenal performance. Thanx for posting.
I love Layne's Strength, stage presence! and that smile after "It ain't like that" 5:00 min. Awwwww so cute!!! Mike's intensity OMG incredible!!! These 2 men are truly missed.
never seen so many moshing mullets in my life
No kidding. Layne in his prime. Rock on, brother. RIP
I agree while Kurt's singing was good, and song writing great Staley has amazing vocals.
This is what rock stars are SUPPOSED to look like
Theres no band thats better than this AIC at this time.
the best band in the 90s
youll never hear or see anything like this again
the short time layne was with us and the huge impact he and aic left will be felt for generations to come
Jerry shouldn't have cut his hair...
im absoloutely amazed by this video right now
Man this is some GREAT SHIT!!!!! Amazing footage, for sure from the master tape... The quality is amazing compare to all that i'v seen on youtube... I love bootlegs, cuz because of them we can all see the "REAL THING" Raw live at his best!!! AIC For ever!!! RIP Layne...
And finally A HUGE THANKS to you JermeysChannel for sharing this treasure whit us;)) Love you!!!
bleed the freak is my shiiiiiiiiiiit.
these are what i call REAL concerts ... not the ones we have now a days where you are 100 feet away from the band and can barely interact with em
Jerry just wrote/writes riff after riff after riff
Unchained on 17:24, hell yeah, AiC rocks!
This is fucking awesome, Layne had some killer pipes. I was lucky enough to see them open for Van Halen back in 91..kickass show.
At 17.40 there's a guy on the left with a camera... I would love to see is footage... As for this show:
Great zoom in, great crowd, the sound is great for a bootleg (Compare to the other ones on YT)
So once again thanks to you for sharing it for free;))
Someone get the guy a beer!! He's doing a great fucking job!
This is my favorite band Jerry amazing songwriter + fantastic guitar, Sean precise dynamic drumming, both bass players have been creative too, of course Layne's singing + some great lyric writing on his part, but I don't equate the band with the frontman like so many do. Most perfect combo of musicians IMHO, they became one artist. I think Duvall is talented too, I just think they need to write more potent songs for me to get that magical feeling. I like Acid Bubble off Black GWT Blue..
Really great show. I like this ''metal'' side of Alice. Facelift is their best.
"HEY EVERYONE PIPE DOWN WE’VE GOT NEIGHBORS NEXT DOOR COMPLAINING"
the dude at 22:30 must be the funniest crowdsurfer in history
What a performance. I got chills listening to Confusion. Many thanks for posting this.
Born and Raised on AIC....never be the same without you layne R.I.P.
even the camera had moments of headbanging. Man I wish I lived at that time
Laynes kicked this shows ass.
LMAO... Sean and his head gear!
The man is always funny....as hell, and really deserves more recognition than was he gets.
Great upload..Thanks ♫
i can feel the adrenaline flowing in my vains.
DAMN STRAIGHT ! ALICE IN CHAINS ROCKS !
''Sunshine...sweet love my labor
Don't mind...I don't care no more''
*tear slides down my face* OMFGOWTFEPICZZZ!
It's so good to see him loving life, which is obvious by the huge smile on his face. I hope he was finally able to be this happy again when he left this world that brought so much misery from drugs and the loss of the one he loved. Truth be told, drugs are not the way to heal the pain we feel inside, and only bring further pain in the end.
wow, just went on a 90's kick, watched Singles and thought of seeing AIC. I guess this is as close as I'll ever get. Thanks whoever shared this for doing so. Deadly!
The best live version of "Queen of the Rodeo" I've ever seen! So Awesome!
i know i missed it all cause im 29 years old , damn i still listened to them in the 90s surprisingly i little kid with great taste in music...:)
its easy to underestimate the power of drugs when theyre constantly around you. i think drugs shud not define aic. the music speaks for itself, nuff sed.
He says "Goddamn that's nice, what is that, velvet?!"
bless you, my god, bless you!!!! how did you find this all together???? i'm so happy, i think this is the greatest live footage of all time. should be officially released with funds going to the layne staley tribute fund for heroin recovery & now the one mike's family is putting together. it's the most phenomenal early footage in audio/video quality & i think the best ever anyway! please tell me where you found this?
Good shit.
Such a one of a kind voice, gone forever... Until we all go to fuckin rock N roll heaven motha fuckas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Layne's voice is in incredibly good form here! Fucking powerful; he's howlin'!
Man its fucking nice to see Layne and Mike so alive
