  • After few years of intensive work, my old self-made Chain-Saw-Mill got bit tired; time to upgrade it! Building, Alaskan style sawmill made of wood.
Mostly hand-tools, scrap wood and few iron parts, recycled from the old saw. I learned much from the weak points and demonstrate better possibilities.
Please open the full description for more information!
    --------------------------
    - Why the small nordic wood parts are soaked in linseedoil?
The chain-oil had wettend and weakened the same parts of the old saw. They got really soft! By soaking them in linseedoil the pores are filled and i hope, that this problem will not come up again.
    - How large boards can be sawn?
With this saw, up to about 40 cm. But it is very easy to put the same Saw-Mill onto a bigger chainsaw. That is why the two long pieces of pine on the sides are kept longer. Just few screws to open and close again. With my bigger Saw i can cut till 90 cm.
In hight it can do till 30 cm. So big enough even for the biggest timber frame material!
    - Is it not too dangerous to use?
Chain-Saw is always dangerous; life is, all in all! Most important is to stay focused, to take care and to stop working when tired.
    - Did you bye this nice pair of tong&groove plains just to build this Saw-Mill?
No, i used them to make furniture and wooden floors as well. These are really nice tools, i much enjoy to use them!
    - It seems, that your workbench is not stable at all..??
Fortunately it is very stable; unfortunately the floor in the workshop is absolutely unstable and the tripod of my camera too. Maybe one day i´ll fix this floor, or i build a new one...

    Very nice videos...🙂
Glad I found your channel and will enjoy following along! Your work reminds me of the earlier "Mr. Chickadee" videos. Have you done any traditional timber framing? I would love to see what you would accomplish with learning the craft of traditional Timberwright, as those videos would be very interesting...Best of luck and look forward to your next video...

Un travail toujours très intéressant et ingénieux. J'aime: peu de moyen mais beaucoup d'ingéniosité, un vrai menuisier! Et votre établi entièrement en bois est vraiment magnifique!

I am very excited to see what you are working on in the near future as you are quite an inspiration. I really appreciate the work you did creating your chainsaw mill. I was near to buying a very expensive mill, myself, but now I'm trying to determine if I can make one. Where did you find your Tongue and Groove planes?

Nice to hear, that this video inspired you to build something on your own. That's really a nice feedback!
I have been lucky enough to find the planes in a local secondhandshop.
      Good luck for your saw-mill!!
